I think this was a very solid book and it did a great job covering the certification-specific concentration areas. I gave it 5 stars. I wish those who rated the book lower would post a review saying why they felt differently.

The point of this book is to provide the necessary information for passing the certification. The author still provided a wealth of history on top of this. I truly appreciate all the detail he went into with commandline automation tools for AD including Powershell and older utilities.

This is not a book to learn EVERYTHING about printing, Hyper-V, Active Directory administration, etc. That would require a separate book for each topic alone.

The author gives all the necessary certification "factoids" to remember and very good instructions to get rolling on each of the exam topics. You absolutely need to use this book side-by-side with your own virtual lab. At the minimum, a virtual machine setup with Windows 2012 R2 and a client OS (Windows 7 or 8). Actively following along with the book and your own lab is critical, and the book is very complimentary to this process. Anything less would be like reading a book on Yoga but never breaking out a Yoga mat and doing it.

This was one of the better certification prep books I've studied.

The book pretty good and solid, but it covers 30-40% material for passing 70-410 exam.
A lot of questions are not mentioned at all and there are a lot of them in the exam, eventually you have to spend many hours reading articles scattered around Microsoft sites. In this case, Microsoft's logic is not clear, why publish a book that does not cover even 50% of the material for passing the 70-410 exam.
