Simply Sex!
CONTAINS SPOILERS!
This was one of the worse age gap baby romances I've ever read. Not only will I stop reading that genre but I will also delete this one from my Kindle after finishing this review.
You always know that sex will always be involved in an age gap romance. I've never read a clean age gap romance, but have read those without vulgar, descriptive sex and nothing else going in. However, this book was full of descriptive, graphic sex using the same vulgar words. For intelligent, educated characters, they all acted worse than a misbehaving 10 year at times - they all lost control at the most inopportune times.
John is a 48 year old widow with a 12 year old daughter and is the best friend and business partner of Garrett. They very successful and wealthy owners of some type of tech company. Izzi is Garrett's 21 or 22 year old virgin daughter who has just finished college. She has loved Garrett since she was 16. She was now home interviewing for a job at the company. Her ultimate goal was John.
Of course she gets the job. She was well qualified having interned at 4 different jobs during the summers before graduating. The book goes downhill from there. Izzi implements plans to seduce John. Nothing works even though John is secretly lusting after her and is ashamed.
Finally, John and Izzi attend some conference together as she was the only person left in marketing. Izzi had inadvertently caused the two employees of marketing to resign. Even though she didn't mean for them to retire, she made the best of the situation. John avoided her at work but she was determined to seduce him at the conference. She proceeded to do just that.
She and John ended up sharing a room after she caused her toilet to malfunction. She knew that the hotel was full because of the conference. She immediately put her plans into action and seduced John. John said that it would never happen again, words he couldn't back-up. After having sex with her, he was angry and blamed her.
After the conference, in spite of John avoiding her, she still planned to continue to seduce him. Things got ridiculous. John continued to avoid her, but seemingly lost his mind if he saw her talking with a man at work.
How could a 48 year old man who hadn't had sex in 12 years suddenly lose his mind over his best friend's daughter. How could they engage in sex at the most inopportune times and inappropriate places - on his kitchen counter while his 12 year old daughter was upstairs sleeping or on the desk in her father's office.
Of course Izzi got pregnant. Why would Izzi plan for years to seduce John but never planned for any type of birth control? Why would John have unprotected sex with Izzy more than once, especially knowing she had been a virgin? There was no talk of any type of birth control.
Yes, there was a HEA after more unreasonable things happened, namely her father finding out. I can't even say that the book could have been better. I was turned off by so much that happened in the book, especially the sex, which was not sensual lovemaking.
