On The Brink Of Extinction

In his debut Non-fiction book, the author has looked at all the major forces that mold societies all over the world, the forces that are likely to influence the future of both our planet and our species as a whole. Reality is composed of countless paradoxes, and this book is an attempt to touch base on different strands of our global quandary, without being comprehensive. This book is not about one element, rather, a selection of lessons.

Surya Sree has tried not to give simple answers, rather, the chapters in this book intend to invigorate further thinking, and herald readers to participate in some of the global conversations of our time. Some chapters focus on religion, some on technology, most on politics, and a few on ethics; some honor human ingenuity whilst others accentuate human follies; some hail charismatic leaders whilst others rue about gigantic imbeciles. Nevertheless, throughout these pages, one question keeps the spirit of the book alive: What is transpiring in the world at present, and is it too late to change track?

This book is an earnest attempt to dwell not only on the problems of the present era but also an ambitious endeavor from a rebellious young maverick to gauge and fathom the meaning of life and the future of Homo Sapiens.

On the Brink of Extinction is one of the most engaging non-fiction books that I have read so far. The author articulates the truth of the world and it’s current state, while also drawing pragmatic comparisons to how it used to be/how it could become.

It was an eye opening read and one that I would recommend to family and friends. Additionally, the author’s expansive vocabulary adds to the phenomenal reading experience.

The author is a loud realist with a very sophisticated palatte of vocabulary; I was gravitated but the amount of raw and unfiltered truth in the book. The book does not hold back on the reality and has predicated the closest possible outcomes which might lead to human extinction. Very gripping and will definitely send shivers down your spine. As a huge fan of fiction myself , this book almost feels like a fictional one except with you as the main character and the storyline as nothing but the reality that's actually happening around you. A book with a lot of takeaways and a must add to your reading list.

A very well written book. Though I may not entirely agree with all the things that the author has walked us through, I would without a doubt give the devil its due credit
His outlook and analysis of facts is appealing. He explains how we can overcome the threats that we are facing, which when ignored will result in all of us facing serious consequences, is not something that you can turn your head away from.
The biological threat and the surveillance threat are something that we can easily relate to post corona and with the way we use our mobile phones. The book has innumerable examples and incidents that we have hardly had a chance to be aware of.
A must read!

I’ll be honest, I thought a book about global threats might be a bit of a slog, but I was wrong! the author makes these huge topics like AI and climate change actually easy to understand. It’s like having a deep conversation with a really smart friend over coffee.

It’s a fascinating book that tells you about all the possible threats faced by the world in general and man in particular. The number of examples with which the author tries to rationalise is simply amazing .With a keen eye for details it is thoughtfully articulated and the author( wise head on young shoulders) has taken pains to emphasise the need to be aware of of all that’s happening around us and not to turn a blind eye, lest we ourselves become a victim, knowingly or unknowingly. He has sown the seed and it’s now our turn to act with responsibility. If not now , then when?!?
Undoubtedly a book for all to read and act
