Mara and Asher were fantastic characters, so intense, captivating and intriguing! But then their inner thoughts were filling so many paragraphs that made me lose interest… dnf @ 19%

That cover guys... I mean, can it get any hotter! That's 1000% 𝘼𝙨𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙂𝙧𝙖𝙮𝙨𝙤𝙣.
He is a hot, cocky businessman . Isn't afraid to flaunt it, in the boardroom or the bedroom. Nothing and I mean 𝐍𝐎𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐆 will stand in his way of getting what he wants. People, feelings, money. None of it matters to him. Down right ruthless if he needs to be.
Mara, sweet and spunky journalist Mara Monroe. She was so awesome. Always rooting for the underdog in hopes they conquer the big guys. She doesn't let anything scare her and will fight back with all she has. Unfortunately that's not much. The company she works for is failing fast, but she plans to put all her efforts into saving it. Nothing will stand in her way for justice.
After she literally runs into Asher at a conference, they have a bit of a sparring match and then she is shocked to find out he is the speaker she had been most excited to listen to. After the brief hallway interlude which left her both frustrated and angry (ok a little heated too), she can't wait to leave and never see or hear him speak again.
That doesn't quite works as planned though. Their paths meet once again. Is he friend or is he foe? Their chemistry is scorching and they bring out the best and worst in each other. They now just what to say to make the other fume, but that's part of the fun right? The hot making up that happens afterwards.
Seriously this book is 𝑯-𝑶-𝑻 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 It also has sweet moments, sexy banter and endearing characters. Don't pass this one up!

Searing Sexy Romance...Sensational Subtle Subtext
If you like it hot, angsty, all hate-effery, Alex Wolf never fails to turn up the dial. He writes the perfect Alpha-hole with the undeniable touch of testosterone that comes from a male author of romance. The heroine is a bit OTT with her emotions, but she comes across as a woman who is nobody's fool. She is written respectfully and not as a caricature of womanhood. It is wonderfully predictable to those of us who love the art-form. However, I caught a glimpse of something else our author was trying to say through the setting of this swoony romance.
The heroine works as a writer for her local Kansas City newspaper owned by an aging couple whom she dearly loves. Their paper is no longer financially viable because the couple, while establishing a sterling reputation for news reporting, failed to keep up with the necessities of an online presence. Our hero wants to buy them out and make the newspaper part of a media syndicate. This is the central conflict between H/h.
When did it happen to us? Can you remember reading the daily paper and really knowing what was happening in your community? When did it become so much more important for us to have "the news" digested for us and spun out one way or another to make us feel we were on the side of the "angels" if we thought the way the news personality did? When did hearing an opposing opinion bring us to the point of rage? When did we stop watching the news from sources that publish their "Standards of Practices" for journalistic integrity and start watching "News Entertainment Networks that have " No" such practices? When did we allow ourselves to be manipulated by the billionaires who care only about the game of making more money?
Funny how the thing that saved the day in this story was genuine true spiritual love...it also saved the local paper. It is the same thing we need to give each other and our country... some hard-fought, soul-searched, well thought-out ... love. Even if that means entertaining the possibility that we may have been wrong about our conclusions. We may have been manipulated...made to fear...made to believe things that could not be true...made to fight for causes not worthy of our noble hearts.
As Americans, we have been blessed with a beautiful land and heritage, certainly not perfect. We should love her enough to listen to one another and do what it takes to make her better, more perfect, even if it means letting go of thoughts that seem like simple explanations or solutions, when complex problems are only made worse and even more hurtful to someone who is unfairly disadvantaged by simplistic tribal thinking. We need to love one another enough to weigh the words uttered by the media with an ear toward bias, (even if it aligns with our own) and manipulation for the truth of any matter. We need each other now more than ever in so many disparate ways. We cannot afford to lose one soul unnecessarily.
Yeah, I read all of that from the subtle subtext of this book. Crazy, huh?

I am a sucker for a delicious enemies to lovers romp and that is exactly Asher and Mara gave me!

Mara Monroe is a tough as nails journalist that loves to be in the thick of the story and publish the truth. She is smart, sassy and oh so feisty. When she meets the cocky Asher she lets him know exactly what she thinks of him whether he wants to hear it or not.
When these two collide in her own hometown at her place of business things are about to get hairy. She is ready for battle and this is war. Although you know that there is a fine line between love and hate and these two are about to obliterate that line! This couple has has wonderful witty smart banter that is sexually charged in all the right places! Get ready to devour Asher and Mara!

If I say to you JUST READ THIS STORY, would it be enough to make you #oneclick? Yeah, I know, probably not or mayyyyybe you should TRUST ME!!
I can’t think of a single *type* of reader this would not be some sort of hit for. Seriously. Asher and Mara both are characters that you will absolutely love and root for. You might hate you love Asher because he’s a cocky SOB but gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawd, he’s a cocky SOB so YAAASS!!! And if you don’t wanna be Mara when you grow up, I dunno how I feel about you. Just sayin!
You guys, seriously, Alex Wolf is unstoppable. He writes characters that mesh so well together it is ridic. They bring the best out of each other even when they are at their worst. He writes frenemies like no other and I have been hooked for quite some time. Not only did Mara and Asher make the best *sparring* partners but the story itself was one giant ticking bomb ready to explode in the best possible way!
Full of sizzling banter and sexual chemistry, this story will fly by before you know it, but it will put a huge smile on your face from beginning to end and you will LOVE IT! #TRUST

This is very interesting story and it was worth it! I love reading quick safe romance like this one! 😍😍😍😍 And yes i’m a big fan of alex wolf for a long time because of the cocky possessive series and i love a very possessive heroes😍 i love the way that these heroes from alex wolf just immediately chase the females that they want and its been them ever since, no one else... they pursue the females like they are obsessed and can’t stop thinking about them.

This is such an amazing read! I loved Asher and Mara’s story. Definitely kept my attention from the very first page until the end. You know I'm a sucked for a good enemies-to-lovers, and this checks all the boxes for me!
The banter between Asher and Mara was highly entertaining and their chemistry was sizzling hot. Without realising, I kept on turning to the next page because I want to know what's going to happen to these two and just to see them bicker.
I loved this one and I can't wait to read more books by the author.

Beginning and Ending
Were great
, it was the middle of the book that was repetitive and slow. I loved Asher and Mara when they were at each other’s throats, the banter and snark was very entertaining. But when they got together the story started to lag, you knew something was going to happen to upset the relationship, it just took forever to get there. I am not even sure I agreed with Mara’s handling of the situation or the resolution that pretty much turned Asher into a wimp but the story redeemed itself with a terrific epilogue.

And like Mara, I have fallen for him. But nothing can be worst than falling for a guy who is her enemy and who can hurt her. Asher is so completely enamoured with her beauty and her talent and her intellect. No one challenges him like Mara and it was refreshing. It was wickedly sinful with the chemistry being hotter than hell. I just loved how I felt their connection instantly. Through witty banter. Through burning desires. Through soft friendship. We had it all!
Billionaire romance can be a really cliche trope and I have to applaud Alex Wolf for making Asher such an entertaining and engrossing read!

Alex knows how to write gorgeous arrogant ruthless pompous billionaire businessmen who always get what they want. That is no exception for Asher Grayson. He is a powerhouse in the publishing world and takes pride in devouring the little guys. He has his sights set on Kansas City and he has always succeeded in what he promised to do that is until Mara Monroe literally runs into him.

Asher is beyond amazing. I loved this one so much. Mara is a feisty spitfire that does not hold back. Asher well he can be a bit of a dick but you love him for it. There is this spark that you just wait to ignite into a full on blaze when it comes to Mara and Asher. I love there banter and all the arguing that goes on. I love that Asher has this moment and everything just seems to so full speed ahead. Mara and Asher will make you laugh, will have you fanning yourself and will make you fall in love with them so hard. I could not but this one down. I loved every moment that Alex Wolf gives us when it comes to Mara and Asher. You need to one click this one.

Enemies to lovers is one of my favorite romance tropes, and this one ranks right up at the top. It's full of snark, banter, and enough sexual chemistry to generate plenty of steam. Asher is all alpha male, and yes, he's a jerk, but Mara gives as good as she gets. One of the best things about this trope is that moment when the characters realize how they feel about each other, that moment they cross the line into love, and these two made the journey so much fun. As I've come to expect from Alex Wolf, Asher is witty, engaging, romantic, and loads of fun. These characters are a hoot, and Asher and Mara may just be my new favorite romantic couple. If you haven't met this pair, you need to, and I'll just be here impatiently waiting for whatever this author does next.

This is billionaire Asher Grayson and journalist Mara Monroe story and although not a particularly long book, it certainly was steamy and entertaining.
Alex Wolf reeled me in from the first to the last chapter. Asher is a legend in the publishing industry and when he sets his sight’s on the newspaper that Mara works for he expects it to be a quick takeover.
The attraction between Asher and Mara is scorchingly hot as these two move from frenemies to lovers. The only question is will they soar or crash and burn? There were moments where I wanted to smack Asher across the back of the head; he really was a bit of an arrogant jerk, but he grew on me. I loved Mara, she is kind, sassy and feisty and not at all afraid to stand up for what she believes in. Could Asher have finally met his match?

Asher by Alex Wolf is a enemies to lovers trope. I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. The characters are both really passionate about what they believe in.
If you've read other books by Alex Wolf, you will recognize some of the characters. The stories are all stand alone and can be read in any order.

This book is amazing and so worth every second put into it. The push and pull between these two is so hot. When Mara meets Asher for the first time who would have thought they would ever get together. The tension and anger between them was so real. I could feel it just by reading it. As the book goes on and you see Mara and Asher develop into the lovers that pair with each other is perfect. Alex did a fabulous job on this book.

Asher Grayson is a domineering, arrogant, self-assured, cocky, successful businessman, and he is not afraid to show it. He's ruthless when it comes to business, leaving no stone unturned to get what he wants. Mara Monroe, feisty, caring, sweet, unrepentant, is the complete opposite to Asher. She challenges him in ways no other person ever has. The publishing company she works for is going under fast, and she will do anything for it to survive, even if that means going up against Asher. A chance meeting, a heated exchange, and thoughts that won't disappear, all lead to a very heated, challenging and scorching hot read.

I really enjoyed the way in which some of their intense arguments became physically intense as well ... I mean these two had trouble keeping their hands off one another at times. I fell hard for Asher. Yes, he was an arrogant pain at times, however he was also able to show a softer side when it was needed, and it shone brightly. Mara, well she was just a breath of fresh air and a real little spitfire when she needed to be.

Alex Wolf has outdone himself with ASHER. He has a definite talent when it comes to writing about alpha men and the strong women who challenge them. Alex Wolf has never disappointed me, and Asher is yet another example of the bright future ahead of him as an author.
Asher is a ruthless businessman and stops at nothing to get what he wants. He absorbs companies into his and makes a killing in the publishing world. He's arrogant, smug, smart and smoking hot. There isn't anything he's set his sights on and not gotten control of, that is until he meets Mara Monroe.
Mara is brilliant, hard working, resourceful and will stop at nothing to give the world all the in depth truthful news. Not just fluff pieces and gossip. She's a truth seeker and shes also relentlessly. Working for a independently owned newspaper who's falling behind in times, she's determined to keep their legacy alive. She goes to all the conferences and workshops to learn more, but when she runs into a strikingly handsome and oh so smug man who turns out to be the poster boy for all she hates about big media her world is completely knocked off it's axis.
Asher is a brilliantly written enemies to Lover's Romance. You feel all of their uncertainties, and their emotions for each other they can't fully understand. Both Asher and Mara have an inner War raging inside them. Everything is not off kilter in both of their worlds Asher is determined to make Mara his, while Mara is doing everything she can to save her Boss's legacy.
This book is extremely addictive you're not want to put it down you fall in love with the characters and you want to be transported into their world.

I have never met an Alex Wolf book I didn't like and Asher was no exception. I was entertained from start to finish.

He makes his living by absorbing smaller businesses into his larger one, creating a publishing powerhouse. Well, that is until he meets someone that isn't about to let him win that easily.
Mara Monroe is a smart, hard-working, resourceful journalist who just wants to tell the world the truth. She wants her journalism to make a difference, and she's been working for a couple for several years and unfortunately the business has seen better days and the writing is on the wall that they likely won't be in business much longer. But she's not giving up that easily.
When Asher and Mara meet for the first time, the fireworks are already detonating. It's obvious how much chemistry these two have even though they are on opposite sides as he tries to buy the business she is trying so hard to save. Asher and Mara challenge one another in ways no one else ever has. They push one another to grow and realize things about themselves they never knew. Is that enough to keep them together or will the business side of things end them before they begin?

Wow what a book! Such a quick read with a perfect amount of angst and sex scenes that were out of this world. Asher was such an arrogant jerk that I couldn’t help but fall in love with him too. Mara was a quick witty character with great thoughts and comebacks, The two of them are a perfect match with an explosive first sex scene that had me wishing I was Mara. Lol
Why the 4 stars and not 5 you ask. I felt parts of the story dragged a bit. Often times the author would have Mara tell us her thoughts and ideas. Mara almost had this daydreaming thing where I could literally careless what she was thinking. I also felt the author could have the 2 characters spend more time together. Don’t get me wrong they were together but I felt the author could have shown them going places, traveling, going to dinner etc.
The best parts if this book is the overall angst and sex scenes. They were pretty hot. Literally hot! I was almost blushing while reading them. The author only had about 3-4 of them and in my opinion that was enough for this book.
Asher was such a jerk but fell for Mara hard. It was great to hear his thoughts and feelings. I absolutely enjoyed him. He is now my new book boyfriend. Lol

And Mara feels guilty for finding comfort and happiness in the one man that can destroy everything and everyone in her life that is important. There has to be a winner and a loser, right?
Wolf gives us two very strong and yet vulnerable characters. Asher's need to be Mara's protector is heartfelt. I loved Mara's loyalty. Their banter was hilarious. And watching Asher's feelings dominant and motivate the story was simply amazing.

Mara is the top reporter and she loves the paper more than anything and so she plans to save the newspaper from the evil Asher and his companies clutches.
This was a very fun story. Its not a story about people who work together but rather are rivals. She wants to save the newspaper and he wants it to go under. There is a lot of passion and heated discussions in the early part of the book. But I would not say they hate each other. Rather they love dueling with words and flirting with each other.

This book will have you falling in love with sassy, opinionated, take no prisoners Mara. She literally runs into Asher Grayson at a conference where she learns immediately after ranting at him that the speaker she was most looking forward to is him. The sparks fly immediately with there’s two and watching the fireworks between them is awesome. You will laugh at the back and forth banter and quick witted replies. When you read the thoughts coursing through each of their minds you’ll swoon, cheer, laugh and possibly shed a quick tear. Least we forget Asher, the cocky, arrogant, billionaire who loves to rile Mara up but only to happily deal with the repercussions. These two go back and forth between enemies to lovers because Mara over thinks thing sometimes and sometimes because of others involvement. This is a spin-off of the Cocky Suits Chicago series and the characters are tied to the story through the very business venture that has Asher and Mara at odds. This writing duo never disappoints!

This was my first Alex book. The cover and description got me hooked;) I loved the tit for tat banter between Asher and Mara. He knows how to push all of her buttons and it’s lol funny how she gets so riled up.
They start off hot and steamy and grow into sweet and sincere….I love that Asher will do anything to make Mara happy—-the Empire State Building is the best💞

I would recommend this story about Asher, a wealthy media mogul and Mara, a reporter for a small, independent newspaper. The first time these two bump into each other is at a publishing conference. Their encounter was anything but pleasant. Of course, he was the keynote speaker at the next presentation she attended.
Her small newspaper is struggling to survive and Mara learns that Asher has tried to buy them out. His company’s MO is to crush the competition and monopolize the media in that geography. Mara makes it her mission to to save her paper and expose Asher for who he is.
I so enjoyed these characters, but especially Asher. Does he have a brother??? Mara’s constant self doubt and jaded outlook got a little long in the tooth but not enough to spoil the book. I think this is another hit for Alex Wolf!

Asher Grayson – something about his name just sets things into place. An alpha male that will not let anyone or thing come between what he sets his mind to. Speaking at a conference he meets Mara Monroe, a lady that literally knocks him off balance.
Mara is smart, funny and a fiery lady that takes every opportunity to cut Asher down to make him more human. He has meet his match when it comes to Mara. He buys out struggling companies in the publishing world to add to his empire. The one that Mara works for is on his list. She is doing all that she can to keep it afloat but the owners are not keen on modern technology and it’s hard for them to change.
The intense heat and connection from Asher and Mara is off the charts that you will not want it to end, I know I didn’t.

This is Asher and Mara’s journey. Asher is a sexy billionaire who is a ruthless businessman, and nothings steps in his way professionally as well as personally when he sets his sights on something. Mara is a feisty little spitfire, who is a small-town journalist, whose company is verging on bankruptcy. When Asher and Mara cross paths at a conference the sparks fly between them. The chemistry between these two is combustible and undeniable, and they certainly know how to push each other’s buttons to bring out the best and the worst of each other. This is a well written flawless story which is intense, and has witty banter, humor, and love, which leads to a steamy and entertaining addictive page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I always highly recommend.
