Immortal Curse #6.5
Blood Burden
Welcome to the Immortal Curse world, where angels and vampires live in secret… for now.
Gabriel is a warrior. A Seraphim. An immortal of astute power and authority. He’s lived his life beneath a cloud of stoicism and practicality. Only to have his entire existence turned over on its head because of her.
Clara.
The witch who enchanted him with her empathy—a vampiric talent wreaking havoc on his ability to focus.
He’s hell-bent on righting the wrong, even if it means killing her to restore his mental sensibilities.
However, not all battles are fought physically.
Some require heart.
Clara’s no normal adversary.
And she’s about to bring Gabriel to his knees.

I am obsessed with Gabriel. It's always the quiet ones
November 17, 2020

This is a short novella filling in the blanks between Gabriel and Clara, It was tantalising sensual and I enjoyed it very much.
I hope we get to experience more from these two going forward in this series Gabriel has always fascinated me and I was intrigued to learn more about him here.
Clara well she has really been dealt a naff hand and I do think she deserves some extensive grovelling from her extended family.
They essentially hung her out to dry and convicted her on some very flimsy evidence not even offering her the benefit of the doubt in regards to her guilt.
That's got to sting and my heart broke for the betrayal she felt especially with how alone she’s always perceived herself to be.
This was a well written and I enjoyed it very much and I’m definitely looking forward to reading more novellas set in this fascinating world.

Yes! I wanted more about Gabriel and it was delivered! This is a quick, heated read but it gives you a little more insight into Gabrial/Stark and Clara. I look forward to more of these fun side trips from Immortal Curse series. These characters are so vivid and so real they're like family.

First let me start by saying... If you’re new to The Immortal Curse series you will definitely want to read ALL of the books in this series before you dive into this. I promise you will thank me later, well... maybe your bank account won’t, but seriously, you’re going to want to understand the plot points before you dive in to this.
Ok, now that we’ve got that out of the way... This little novella is H.O.T. hot!! I mean straight fire, steamy, makes you want to squirm in anticipation, spank bank material, HOT! Gabriel and Clara are completely perfect for each other!!
I love seeing the author’s little glimpses into how the characters play into the overall story with things like this novella. When you have an author who can create such a vast and complex world like this you can’t help but want to devour ever single word.

Gabriel doesn't really have people skills, "this time he let his eyebrows pull down because he couldn’t help it. “Why would that require me to turn around?” I liked this book, I loved Gabriel.

Karin - per RFS
.
Era lei l’empatica che gli aveva acceso le emozioni. Avrebbe dovuto aiutarlo a spegnerle,
In passato i
lettura. Quindi, in soldoni, va letto!

And back to reading smut for a little bit :)
Its an urban fantasy romance novella, though with the significantly reduced page length its.. basically not even pretending to have a plot anymore. It skips most of the figurative foreplay and gets us going right into it and.. It worked really well. REALLY well. You do need to already be familiar with the characters from the previous books for any of it to mean anything and it certainly cant stand alone if you are familiar and have been enjoying the sexy mess that is the rest of the series this was both refreshing and.. lets just use the word exciting.
The author dropped the ball in the previous two books in my opinion, where it might have been intentional with how the characters were conceived the power dynamic and balance was off and it made any pretense of consent seem forced. But here in this short novella the balance is back and its back in a relatively unique way, its not a healthy relationship (yet?) but its far from toxic or forced and two equally broken people finding mutual comfort and healing in each other (even if quite by accident) and getting a little carried away in that healing was well executed and satisfying.

Ooh, such a lovely little short foray into the Immortal Curse World. Exploring the relationship between Gabriel and Clara. He wants to get rid of the emotions he gained by drinking her blood and he figures the only way to do that is by seeking out her help. She sees him as her guardian angel and the being who saved her from her own personal hell.

Welcome back to the Immortal Curse world, where Vampires aren't the only ones who bite....
Lexi C. Foss has returned to the immersive and imaginative world of the Immortal Curse series with this intriguing novella starring the world's most stoic Angel and the universe's most greatly misunderstood empath. Gabriel and Clara may not have been what anyone expected, but the duo...work. In the best possible way. Especially when it comes to the sensual magnetism that will leave you weak in the knees.
This story is a companion to Blood Seeker, which you will need to read first in order to truly pick up what's going on. We pick up this story at a midpoint where we are learning a lot of new things about the world that we had no idea about before.
Like all of Lexi's novels, Gabe and Clara are extremely fleshed out and dynamic, with true emotional development taking place (literally...). Clara has had very limited "screen" time in the novels so far, more of a passing glance of a character you knew existed but you didn't really have much to do with until Angel Bonds (and even then...almost nothing). And then BAM! She's suddenly center screen, and it all makes sense. I truly feel a loss of her in previous books now, after seeing her in the flesh here much more clearly and understanding her backstory. Truly, for a novella, you get to know Clara amazingly well and that is such a treat in every way.
We've come to see and hear from Gabe a lot, but this is the first time we've really had a story told from his perspective rather than a part, and man was it worth it! Lexi does something I wasn't expecting but truly enjoyed: she kept Game true to himself. Despite his budding relationship, and who it is with, she keep's Gabe's voice consistent and changing in natural subtle ways. I was worried once I saw this possible paring that Gabe would suddenly become some emotional creature, but that's just not the case. And man...is his sensuality a treat to behold!
The novella truly comes at the perfect time, and serves to supplement the full series beautifully. It gives us a first taste at the two most misunderstood characters in the series, and tells just enough of a story to keep you wanting more. Like all of the books in the series, there is a satisfying ending to an extent, but doesn't wrap everything up in a tight little bow - clearly setting up the next act so to speak.
If you want to see a truly amazing heroine, take a look at this one. You will not be disappointed.

I really enjoyed this intriguing little novella, set in the same timeline as the events at the end of Blood Seeker. I've loved how Gabriel has grown as a character throughout the series and is now trying to make sense of the emotions Clara unwittingly set free in him. His reactions are funny and insightful as he returns to Clara for help removing those pesky feelings. Little does he know what is about to be unleashed!
If you've not read any of this series yet, I highly recommend starting at the beginning with Blood Laws. It's a fabulous series and this is a lovely, more light-hearted but still steamy addition, as we learn more about Clara too. There's a lot more to her than I imagined, I wanted to give her a big hug for what she's been through. I'm looking forward to more from her and Gabriel as the series continues.

This book was just amazing, just like all the others in this series. I do recommend reading the books in order, it make the reading experience so much better. If you love a good spicy fantasie romance, this is definitely the books for you. I was obsessed with the characters, each book I thought it couldn’t get any better, but it did. It suprised me that with each book it had a different characters that played the main role, it still keept me intresten. With other books I don’t like it when they do that, but in this book I loved it. If you are wondering if you would read this I vote ‘yes’.
-Each book had a good number of pages
-The characters were will written and was easy to connect with.
-The fantasie wold well explained and therefore easy to follow.
I hope this helped you.

As the warning in the beginning of the book said, definitely read this series in order, starting with Blood Laws, or you will mostly not understand what’s happening.
That being said, I absolutely LOVE these novellas Ms Foss is giving us, of these side characters so we can love them even more. I have been intrigued by Gabriel from the beginning and this novella gives us him on a silver platter! If you’re already invested and addicted to the Immortal Curse World, you’re gonna love this story! If you’re new to this World...come, come, we welcome you with open arms

A quick read.
Just a little background to understand for further books in the series. Gabe finally starts to feel and doesn't understand what, or why it's happening. He seeks out Clara to make him understand her powers and if it came from her taking her blood. His attraction to her is too much and they end up with a blood bond. Now what? These books are very well written. They really keep you wondering what is coming next. Thank you, Lexi, for this series.

HE ACTUALLY DID IT!
Oh Gabriel. I can’t believe it.
Stark with some emotions is hilarious.
This is a fantastic lunchtime read. A novella connected to the Immortal Curse series.
Gabriel needs to find Clara and stop the emotions his feeling.
Clara has been thinking about her guardian Angel, hoping she will see him again to say thank you.
Her wish comes true and the effects are riveting

Just a quick one today because I'm doing this on my phone and auto correct is a pain in the butt sometimes. I absolutely loved getting more from Gabriel. His reactions to stuff is just hilarious. I also really felt for Clara and I'm super glad she has her connection now. Loved everything about this book

Well that was... Whew baby STEAMY.
I really enjoyed seeing Gabriel getting his feathers ruffled by Clara and her emotions. I always like the character Gabriel because I knew when he met his mate, willingly or not, it would turn his world upside down.
Lexi treats us with this little snack that wasn't necessary, but appreciated nonetheless

Love me some Gabriel coming into his emotions! Having him paired up with empath Clara was absolute perfection, and his reaction to her and what she makes him feel is spectacular. Adding Gabriel to my list of favorite Alphas in this series now.

Moved very fast.
The author said the book before this was supposed to be their story but I don't see how. There is no real storyline. I enjoyed the characters but I do wish there was more and I wish it hadn't moved so fast.

Nice short story
This is a quick read that gives insight into the relationship between Gabriel and Claire. It's not necessary to read but does help full in blanks left in the main story line.

Great read. Rare that I get to enjoy a book from the male perspective. Loved all the elements in here. Great story and I am most certainly craving more from this world.
