Ty knows his brother's secret now, but Albion is imprisoned, caught by the dragon touched and Ty feels he has to free him, but many people seem bent on catching Ty as well. Everyone he comes in contact with seems to be targeted, Bingham's shop is burnt to the ground and many of his neighbours lost their homes in the all consuming fire and Eastley though free from prison was bent on revenge for being tortured so horrendously by Roson James. Ty was being tracked by 'priests' of the order of the flame, real priests of the flame as well as by the dragon touched led by Roson James himself. Ty finds notes left for him by Albion and he decides to travel to the city in search of his brother. Bingham and Eastley went with him but once in the city Gayal Holt, the king's tecal and nemesis of Roson helped him in an indirect way to find his brother. He was not imprisoned in either the palace or the fortress as Ty had believed but within the dragon's jaw itself. Every time Ty was exposed to dragon magic his body filled with heat, and smoke drifted around him, serving to hide him and to kill those who fell to it. However Ty was either too daft to realise what was happening to him and around him or too scared to admit to having an affinity to the dragons, but in the end his cluelessness became very tiresome and dangerous. The order of the flame seem to have infiltrated both the priests and the dragon touched and somehow Roson James was leading them. He was Lothinal, and they were infiltrating the kingdom, wanting to harness the dragon's power for their own land. Can Ty become the dragon thief, now that his brother is out of the action and save the Kingdom? Can he get over his cluelessness and harness his abilities or will he keep on searching for his parents and living in the past rather than looking towards the future? All this I hope we will find out in the next book in the series which is chock full of magic, adventure, betrayal and courage all tied up in dragon lore!

The mystery deepens in this 2nd book in the series. Poor Ty, first his parents disappear, then his brother is captured and imprisoned and he has no idea how to find either. Added to that, Ty is being hunted down by the Order. Barely able to keep 1 step ahead if them, Ty somehow manages to find where his brother is being kept, through the very unlikely help of Gayal. Now the mystery deepens....Ty is tasked by his brother to find something and he has no idea what nor where to start looking. I do enjoy how, as the story progresses, the plot gently nudges one in the right direction, the confusion slowly disapates as Ty starts to realise there is more to his brother brother than he thought. As strange happenings occur, whenever Ty is cornered, he nevertheless figures out the mystery. And it was really cool finding out Gayal might not be the villain. I found Ty a very credible character, his journey in this book, as he lumbers ahead, very realistic. All in all, the storyline build up well with each chapter, leaving one ready for the next book.

Where is Albion and what does the note mean?
Many of the questions we had from book one of D.K. Holmberg’s Dragon Thief series are finally answered in this book two. However, there are many more that have arisen in this second book. Ty has a quest to find his brother and to answer a puzzling note Albion had left for him. He is being targeted by the Dragon Touched and possibly others but he doesn’t know why. Ty finds some answers to the mysterious note but even more questions arise. He has some help from his friends but they are not privy to all the information. And they can’t help him deal with the powerful Dragon Touched. Ty finds he has some inner strength and powers of his own which he needs to learn how to use without injuring himself. Little by little Ty’s questions are answered but even more questions arise. So much action and suspense continues as Ty learns who to trust and who not to. Mr. Holmberg knows just how to build the suspense to keep the reader engrossed in the story. I am anticipating finding those answers in the next book.

This book continues the story begun in 'Path of the Flame' in the same world and with the same characters. It should definitely be read first. This book picks up shortly after the end of it.
Albion apparently left a coded note for Ty, which Order of the Flame priests are willing to kill for. Ty agonizes over the deadly threat of the Order of the Flame, Rosen James, the Dragon Touched, the Tecal, and his own uncertainty. He doesn’t really know what he is going to need to do, how to do it, and has no idea how to keep himself and his friends safe. He continually second- and third-guesses himself, dithering about everything. He and his friends are constantly tracked and attacked by various factions, which keeps up a constant tension throughout the book. Ty discovers he has a resonance with dragons. Finally, the Tecal Gayal explains many secrets and mysteries and offers to teach him about his new powers as the book ends on a semi-cliffhanger, to be continued in the next book.

Another well written story in the saga of the Dragon Thief. The author weaves a story that slowly reveals details hidden in the first story. Ty now travels out of town, and hence we get the name of the book: Within the Dragon's Jaw. Each chapter reveals more about Ty and his family history. We also learn that he wants more than what he is. He can see himself as someone better. The author slowly reveals more about his ability to put this mystery together, yet the reader is left wondering why he has missed some obvious clues.

If you like solving mysteries, particularly in a fantasy world, you will find this a great read.

I loved it! I can't wait for the next one. I kind of knew what the goal was but what Ty did is completely unique. There is some heart break in this one and someone shows their true colors. Not to mention a new character. There were a lot of changes and I'm excited to see what's next.
I received an ARC and I'm voluntarily leaving an honest review.

A brilliant second installment in Ty's adventure's. He must know try and find his brother Albion who he now knows is the dragon thief and free him.
Ty leaves the only city he has known to travel to the capital. There are plenty of twists and turns and Ty finds out something startling about his connection to dragons. Definitely recommend this book

I enjoyed the second book in this series. Ty is a likable character and he is being used by others without knowing why. Ty is starting to unravel the problems he faces just to find more questions.
Holmberg has created an interesting world and given it some mysteries. The characters are complex and each has secrets that are slowly being uncovered. Can't wait for the next book.

exciting
After the events in the first book things go rapidly downhill for Ty. He goes to the capitol to find his imprisoned brother and succeeds in finding him but the result is not what Ty had hoped. The result does provide for some life changing events for him.
I received this book as an ARC.

Engaging storyline

The storyline is engaging and imaginative. I pretty much read until I finished the book, that’s how interesting I found it. There does seem to be frequent repetition and needs a good proof reader

This series has a really interesting dragon magic take as well as being in a fantasy world with political subplot that starts to come through more in this book.

I found it to be very engaging and easy to read like all of Holmberg's previous books I've read.

Ty is so different from all the other book heros, he has no superpower- at least that he is aware of- and tries with just the help of his friends to find his brother and help him. I liked this series so far, although the story could be more compact.

Totally unexpected

I've read dragon books, witches, warlocks wolves. But this went in a totally different direction. It starts out a little slow but captured my attention. I wanted to see what was next. Great read. Thank you ❣️

a bloated episode

The story moves on slowly, but the huge amount of pointless inane repetitive dialogue, and the friends that are worse than enemies, makes it tough going.

I did a lot of skimming over those boring and frustrating bits.

This is an excellent addition
to the series.
Again, it starts off slowly,
but ultimately, it satisfies.
Enjoy !!

Progression

Progression is the key word here. Within the Dragon's Jaw has pushed the series into extremely interesting, and I am now fascinated by what comes next.

Teenage Book

So often the author repeats lines within the various scenes that it is increasingly boring for an adult. Not so sure I will continue to read his books.

Sequel to In the Path of the Flame. Just as well written, this book tells us more of Ty's history and brings some answers.
