Every secret has an expiration date. . .USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author Autumn Jones Lake delivers the next highly anticipated installment of the Lost Kings MC series.
Hidden truths are silent lies. One devastating truth rocked me to my soul. In an instant, my entire identity was erased and replaced. It’s a secret I must bury or risk hurting the ones I love the most.
Blood never lies. The truth is a painful weapon. It cuts deep and can scar you for life. Even when the pain fades, the truth remains.
There is strength in loyalty. My father keeps reminding me, every secret has an expiration date. Better to face the pain and endure the fallout. The strength of our Lost Kings MC family will pull us through.

I've been a huge Autumn Jones Lake fan for years and LOVE this series. I've re-read my favorites (of which there are many) numerous times over. The only books I haven't read in this now 23-book series are Rooster/Shelby's trilogy (waiting to be in the mood for a rock star/fame element) and Dex/Emily's books (which I will be reading now that the duet is complete).
But I digress.
Reading this felt like coming home and it was definitely what I needed amidst my current book slump. Teller and Charlotte aren’t my favorite Loki couple, but I still like them well enough. All in all, it was fun just hanging out with my Loki family and we got enough of all my favorite characters for this book to hit the spot. I would have liked more Wrath/Trinity, but I also recognize that it wouldn’t have fit the book and that's okay. I liked it the way it was.
For those interested, this is basically a supplemental book for the series. If you haven't read most of the series, you will be lost.
Can't recommend this VERY romanticized, light MC club series high enough.
Reckless Truths is the twenty-first book in the Lost Kings MC Series. With a blockbuster cast of characters, action, suspense, passion, and romance, Autumn Jones Lake has crafted an intricate novel that will keep you on the edge of your seat the entire read. After all that has been revealed throughout the series, the truth finally arrives at the point of no return.
"Thanks for all the sunny orgasms today. They really hit the spot."
After discovering a big secret, Teller is troubled, unsure of his place, and even more concerned about the repercussions this discovery will have on his family and club. Charlotte, also fighting through her trials, is ready to stand by and walk through anything with her man. In addition to Teller and Charlotte, Rock and Hope and Heidi and Murphy are all affected. As the tension begins to unravel, the club faces new turbulent times, and it will take the full force of the Lost Kings to come together and overcome the evil that threatens to take them down.
"I can't wait to marry my handsome king."
It took me quite a few days to fully reflect on this book's gravity on my heart. If you are a Lost Kings follower, you know that the intricate relationships make this series unique. With all my love for these characters, my heart was whole through every moment. The power in the text is weighted by the complex storyline, the background of these characters, and how their lives intertwine. When I think about why I love reading romance, I think of the LOKI Series! A series with a lot of passion, loyalty, and heart. How you are immersed in the story is simply unmatched.
"Ever after isn't enough. I want her for eternity."
Reckless Truths is incredibly well written and engaging, as with all LOKI books. The characters are complex, and the storyline is addicting. You will not be able to put this book down! There were so many moving moments I could not wait to go back and re-read. I guess you can tell how much I adore this series, but this book was a culmination of all my favorite characters and the moments that make life worth living. If you are a fan of the Lost Kings MC series, you must read Reckless Truths! I highly recommend this book and series to all lovers of MC Romance! You will be quickly swept away!
My review is probably going to end up being unpopular 🙃 The book is okay. I feel if you are an avid fan of the series then you will want to read this. It's well written. Multiple POV. I think my issue is that I read the series as each book came out so other than doing a reread I'm not that invested in it. So this is a alternative POV of previous events, particularly concerning the discovery of Rock's grown up son. I'm struggling to remember who is who or what actually took place. If I'd read them one after the other I could see this fitting in but it think it's been so long since I read the last one, it's spoilt the flow.
The author does provide a list of characters, explanation of terms etc at the start.
Epilogue.
I have to say as I can't remember who is who I have ended up doing a reread of the story.
Social media post from the author. 'If you read my author notes at the end of Reckless Truths, you'll see I'm well-aware not everyone wanted this book. Negative people have a way of reaching out when they want to let you know they hate something. It doesn't matter, though. Reckless Truths is the story *I* needed to write. Reckless Truths is for my readers who wanted it. The biggest truth about this book is that the readers who wanted it, REALLY, REALLY wanted it! Reckless Truths is for my readers who sent me passionate emails and messages asking when these secrets would be revealed. Thankfully, your kind words outweighed the nasty ones. I love and appreciate my readers so much for allowing me to do what I love--tell stories. I hope they love every word of Reckless Truths. If it's not your cup of tea, that's fine. It is someone else's. If you're skipping it to wait for Dex's story, that's fine too. If you don't like continuing stories or interconnected series, I'm not your author. I never have been. And that's okay. Those of you who love the Lost Kings MC World I've built, THANK YOU. 👑☀️❤️'

Every secret has an expiration date, and this one is perilously close.
I have followed the Lost Kings series from the very start with Slow Burn and I have relished the stories that Autumn Jones Lake has written. It's a long series and I have adored most of the books - this is book 21 so there is a lengthy back story here and you cannot read this book as a standalone. You will have had to have read at least some of the previous novels. AJL gives a clear reading order and you can dabble around with it , especially with the earlier books but honestly , if you are interested in MC Romance with unforgettable characters and storylines that grip your heart, then I strongly recommend the Lost Kings from the very start.
I'm not going into much detail. Secrets have been kept and this is the culmination of one particularly huge one. It's also Teller and Charlotte's wedding book - oh my heart ... I loved it.
I’m absolutely drowning in her love, she’s both the current dragging me under and the air in my lungs
Charlotte’s glowing. More beautiful than I have a right to spend my life with.
This book largely centres on the original LOKI upstate club (Empire) members so you see a lot of Rock, Wrath , Z, Teller and Murphy but also Dex , Rav and Sparky plus newer characters such as Rooster, Jigsaw and Grinder. Hope, Trinity, Lily , Charlotte and Heidi feature obviously as they are the Ol' Ladies. The key secondary character that stole my heart was Charlotte's brother , Carter. A couple of his scenes made me cry. And laugh. All the emotions...
I still harbour undying love for Wrath. He will always be my favourite and I was so invested in all his appearances in Reckless Truths. I loved that we saw lots of his humour in this book.
Wrath pierces Rock with an intense stare. “Your ability to own your mistakes and do what needs to be done to fix them is what makes you a good leader. All the brothers—well, except me—fear you.
If you are an avid reader of LOKI , this book will be a balm to your kindle soul. I desperately wanted a book that focused back on the original characters and it surpassed all my expectations. I have adored most of the books in the series - out of 21 novels by one author , I think it would be surprising if every single one was a 5 star. Even the one's that weren't a solid 5 star for me were still enjoyable and each one brings something special with it , whether it's a pivotal plot development or the building of a relationship. The key thread is that I want to be immersed in the world of the Lost Kings. I want to lose myself in AJL's storytelling because she does it so beautifully. She weaves magic when she puts pen to paper and I am under the LOKI spell.
Loyalty makes you family. Not blood. People outside our brotherhood who don’t follow our code would never understand. But we don’t need them to. We are our brother’s keeper. And no one else’s.
HEA? Yes and a truly gorgeous and exciting epilogue. Cheating? No
“Love isn’t always perfect ... Love is difficult to find and impossible to live without. There are no fairy tales in life, only harsh reality. Love doesn’t always come easy. When you find love, treasure it, protect it with your entire being."
I have been waiting for this book since November 30th, 2018 so my expectations were high. Higher than high. It exceeded those. Reckless Truths was absolutely everything I needed after what we discovered in After Glow. I wish I could go on and go on about all the things I loved, but people I can't. I'll be giving EVERYTHING away if I do that. So send me a message if you need to gush like I do. I need to do alllllll the gushing.
What I will say is this.
Autumns writing continues to be on point. When I discovered her books all those years ago, I didn't realize the obsession in my life it would become. Her books are a balm to my heart when I'm struggling, which has been a lot this year. Reckless Truths may have been four years in the making, but she delivered it right when I needed her words the most. Thank you for continuing to bring your readers this wonderful family of outlaw bikers and the women that hold it all together.
This was one of my most anticipated books for this year and for this series and it did not disappoint. Honestly this series will always be one of my favourites as you're continually kept on your toes, not knowing who will be put through the wringer next, that there will never just be one book per couple, as life isn't like that. Stuff happens and life isn't tied up in pretty bows just because you've found your 'one' (if you're that lucky). The truths unveiled in this book have been a long time coming, so as a long time reader it was nice to go back in time and visit pivotal moments leading up to the point that could make or break so many lives. It was everything I was hoping for and some I never saw coming, in the very best way. It wasn't all just truth bombs, it wouldn't be a LOKI book if added drama wasn't added to the mix of already taught tensions. So all in all I couldn't not add this book to my top reads list, I couldn't of asked for better.
The books in this series just keep getting better. I love all the interconnected stories and all the characters. This books had so many good quotes and hilarious one liners. And with every book by Autumn, I could not put it down.
This book wrecked me in all the best ways. This one packs the strongest emotional punch and I had to take so many breaks just to ease the tears and the tension. Be prepared for one rollercoaster of a ride as all secrets are finally revealed and the club will never be the same.
This book gutted me as we watch Teller try to deal with the truth of his parentage and have to come to terms with the pain of his past. As life continues to move on for his brothers, Teller felt stuck with the truth and afraid to move forward with it. But through it, all Charlotte is there for him no matter what. Always willing to push when needed and most to respect his decisions when he still wasn't ready. These two truly personify ride or die. They trust each other completely and even when they might not agree they still love and respect the decision and ways of the other.
There was so much pain and trauma to deal with in this book. But it only made it a more satisfying read. To see home Hope/Rock, Teller/Charlotte and Murphy/Heidi can handle the drama that life can through at them was wonderful to read. To see these characters pushed to the breaking point but not break. all of these characters have grown so much over the course of the series that to see them deal with raw pain in a real, honest and mature way was great to reach.
Of course, the Lost Kings' world is always full of hidden danger, and when one of their own is taken the Loki family circles the wagon to do whatever it takes to bring back their brother. They will do anything and bury anybody who dares to hurt one of their own.
Autumn knocked it out of the park with this book. everything was left on the table in the club and these characters were changed for the better. Can't wait to see what she does next.
The couple: Teller and Charlotte (we also get Rock, Hope, Murphy, and Heidi's POVs)
Romance trope: MC Series: Lost Kings MC Length: 479 pages
**This is not a standalone - it's #21 in a series. If you've never read this series before, begin with Slow Burn; it's free, the first book in the series, and it will help you on your way!**
Fans of the series will know that this is Teller and Charlotte's book; it's their wedding book and the book where the most anticipated secret finally comes out. We get a quick peek into Teller's past, when he was just a baby-faced 12-year-old Marcel, stealing to take care of both his little sister and his best friend. This is his introduction to the Lost Kings and gives us some insight into both Teller and Murphy. Then we see some of the action from previous books but from a different point of view. It's not an info dump; we really do get to see a different side of the action (and we've seen this technique before, particularly in Tattered on My Sleeve). Of particular note is Teller and Charlotte's struggle with getting pregnant; we know about this from previous books, but it's something else to see it from Charlotte's pov (and the scene with Murphy consoling Charlotte definitely made me cry). Once the story starts in the present, the big concern is Teller's secret. (I'm not mentioning it on purpose since it's release week - I'm trying a new thing of no spoilers!) Teller needs to share with the people around him, namely Murphy and Heidi, but he keeps putting it off. He won't listen to Rock and he won't listen to Charlotte. He knows that the longer he waits the worse it will be, but he doesn't want to hurt Heidi, and more than that, he knows this will be devastating for Murphy. So he waits. He waits too long and the outcome is even worse than he expected. Readers, this is truly a case of caveat emptor. But there's another subplot running through the book, courtesy of our old friend Merlin. He's back and Teller's family doesn't emerge unscathed. But remember when Teller took care of the little problem they had, you know, out in the woods with the hunting knife? It's probably a good idea to not mess with the people Teller loves. More than that though, we see the full force of the club at Teller's back, helping him to protect his family. This is what the club is at its core: loyalty, family, and justice. It doesn't always look like what society thinks it should, but as Trinity pointed out, "Our chosen family...is so important." They've each chosen their families, and family is exactly what Teller and Charlotte are creating, expanding, and reworking through the entire story.
Look, I don't know why I can't write a short review for this series. But regardless, this was a great addition to the overall story and answers a lot of questions that previous books have caused. We see all the old favorites, both Upstate and Downstate. We see a few other people from here and there; Carter plays a significant role, Chaser and Mallory show up, as does Priest, and even Liam and Bree ("from the old neighborhood" - Bullets & Bonfires attend the wedding. As a bonus, we see the slightly more grown second gen in the epilogue. Next up is Dex's story - Rust or Ride, and I am so excited to see what our strong, silent, mysterious road captain is up to (besides landscaping Emily's yard, which sounds like a euphemism, and maybe it is).
Miscellaneous: *Rock calls Teller "knucklehead" the first time he meets him and Wrath says he could be Rock's mini-me *Rock says "simmer down" twice *It strikes me that Hope could never have imagined, before the events in Slow Burn, how much family she would end up with and what her role in all of that would be. I know they joke about "Mom and Dad," but she has so many people around her who see her as a mother, a sister, a dear friend, and that is priceless. *On my first re-read, I paid more attention to the epilogue - I definitely feel like Z's father-in-law plans are going to come to fruition but I don't think it will be too soon! Also, there was a little tidbit in there about meeting at a restaurant that LOKI owned, so that was nice to see them thriving.
First let me say that this is the 21st book in the series and it is NOT a standalone. AJL writes her books as continuous stories. Start with book one.
Reckless Truths is one roller coaster of emotions starting with the damn dedication. The secret is FINALLY out and I could not be more excited. It was definitely time. But as is most LOKI stories, the plot definitely took some unexpected, amazing turns.
Reckless Truths made me laugh. It made me cry. It broke my heart and put it all back into place. I hugged my Kindle when I was done.
AJL, you write the books and stories you want. I will take 50 more books of any characters especially Rock and Teller if your heart desires.
Yes!!! I needed this book so bad!! I love Teller SO MUCH! Like every other book in this series we get the heartbreak, the love, the hilarious ribbing, the family and the brotherhood. I can’t wait for the next book!!!
Everytime Autumn releases a book, I'm in awe - she has managed to write 30 odd books, all interconnected and yet I could easily read another 30odd!
That is pure talent in itself! She just has this knack for it and the appeal honestly doesn't lesson - seriously I get full flutters when I know a new book is releasing!
𝘓𝘰𝘺𝘢𝘭𝘵𝘺 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦𝘴 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘧𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘭𝘺, 𝘕𝘖𝘛 𝘣𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘥...
RECKLESS TRUTHS is the one we've been itching for - the big secrets are being revealed but have they been left too late? What damage will they leave? Who will they impact? And what other horrors has Autumn added in because we know there's no way, it's a straight forward read?!?!!
This book has it all - we have the closeness and understanding of each member which I adore! The way they all look out for each other, it is something truly admirable. Doesn't matter who you are, if one person out of that club cares for you, then the whole club has your back! How cool would that be!?!
We have the humour - these guys are full of banter and they had me in stitches several times!! No-one can do one-liners like these guys!!
And of course we have the steaminess - I had forgotten how hot Teller & Charlotte are 🥵🥵
It was perfect, I don't know what else to say - Autumn Jones Lake has well and truly smashed it yet again and I'm excited for what comes next!!
The Lost Kings MC world is one I truly pray never comes to an end?!!
*I voluntarily received an arc and this is my honest review ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Let me preface this rave review with an FYI: if you're thinking of picking up Reckless Truth because the cover is GORGEOUS, stop what you're doing. This is Book #21 in Autumn Jones Lake's Lost King series. You will want to start with book #1: Slow Burn. You won't be sorry.
THAT SAID... let's get to the spoiler-free good stuff! Reckless Truth was EVERYTHING it needed to be. My heart is so full! It gives the closure that fans of the series so desperately needed for Teller & Charlotte's HEA. There were a number of real "truth nuggets" hidden in the pages. There were so many moments of LOKI banter and snort-worth quotes that I highlighted passages. *Carter with the one-liners in this one... LOLOLOL*
I paused everything I was currently reading, including edits on my own work, to read this book. Which took a mere 24 hours. Autumn opened up and truly "bled" onto the pages. How she managed to recap 21 books without info dumping or drudgery, I would love to know. She has a gift and I'm so glad she shares it with us!
This was another good book of the same series...List Kings MC. The hard part is going to be finding the next series to read since I haven't had to think about it in awhile. This was #21 in the series and if I understand right there will be a lot more books to come... wouldn't even be surprised if there was spin offs.
This book wasn't about one single couple but a mixture of several. If I had to say just one it would be Teller . Secrets have a way of coming out during the worst time. The longer you keep one the worst of the fall out it will be. People will wonder if they can trust you or not.
One thing I don't enjoy until the series is done with is looking ahead in the future and it was in this one...if you're like me and want to learn later when it's actually time to learn it don't read the last of the book...if you want the spoilers then read it.
Absolutely hands down one of the best stories Autumn Jones Lake has written to date. It may be due to my love for this whole series but I just loved every page. I could not put it down.
Charlotte and Teller needed this "final" book so badly for a long time and I am so happy for the truths that finally came out. I cried tears of joy, sadness and laughed till by sides hurt in some parts. I was also big fan of the steamy scenes. I have a different appreciation for small offices now...Wink wink ;)
This story was full of so many characters and I never fell lost. Autumn has a wonderful way of writing in the first person POV from different characters thought out her LOST KINGS MC series.
I highly recommend that you read books 1 -20 before diving in to this story. It will help with understanding characters and backstory details. But if not, have an open mind and read this book anyway. Five stars!!
I have been a big fan of this series since I read the very first book years ago and I honestly don't know how she does it, but 21 books in and this author has kept me happily reading and completely invested in her series with no end in sight. Her characters are so vivid and engaging that I feel like I know them personally. These secrets and truths HAD to come out eventually and to get to hear everything from so many different POVs was awesome. The first chapters when we learn of how Rock was always the protector made me tear up and smile at the same time. These kids went through so much before becoming the strong men they are today in the Lost Kings. This book is a must read for anyone who has been following this intense but passionate series. Get it and become that fly on the wall as all the truths are unveiled for everyone to see. Loved it!
AJL did it again she 1000% nailed it. The Truths finally get revealed and we get to see the fall out from all the secrets. I love this series more than words can say ❤️ I look forward to every release and could read a million stories about these characters. This is easily one of the top 5 of the whole series for me I loved how the beginning went back through some events from previous books but gave us a different view of them and then flowed into the present. I couldn't put it down I had to find out what was going to happen with all my favorite characters. AJL has done an amazing job with the characters and world I feel like they're family and I can't wait to visit them again in the book.
I waited a long time for these secrets to be revealed and it was EVERYTHING! Teller and his Sunshine have been through it, but together they fight for their love, their family, their friends. As always Autumn does an amazing job of making sure we get more than just a love story. We get to follow along with our favorite LOKI couples from past books and hints at what's to come! The 6 points of view in this story were needed and done beautifully. I knew we would get to hear from Rock and Hope, it was too important not too. But also getting to hear Murphy and Heidi's reaction? Didn't know I wanted it, but sure glad we got it. Can't wait to see where the LOKI family is headed, there could be a thousand books in this series and I would devour them all!
Wow! This book does not disappoint, from the first word to the last. I could not put this book down. It got me in my feelings, I laughed, I cried, I paced all while reading and I was even on the edge of my seat at times. Autumn is a gifted writer, she pulls you in the story with her words. Its like you are a character in her book and living it first hand. These people, the characters are family to us. All secrets are revealed not just one, even though its a big one! The slate is cleaned and no more secrets so everyone can start fresh and start the healing process together. Blood doesn't always mean family! They are the one that can hurt you the most!! Much love to you Autumn Jones Lake ❤❤❤❤
I’m not usually a huge fan of stories that rehash older stories from different points of view but this book did it seamlessly! I loved experiencing Teller and Charlotte’s perspectives on some of the largest story lines in the last few books. Even sneaking in Murphy, Heidi and Rock.
Carter has had my heart since he first pulled an unloaded gun on Teller and he didn’t disappoint here! The way the club has embraced the little punk warms my heart to no end.
FINALLY Dex is next! I feel like I’ve been waiting DECADES for this book (I haven’t). And let’s be honest, I’ll wait for another 10 years (it hasn’t been 10 years) if I have to. (But I’ll cry the whole time.)
And that EPILOGUE!! I feel like there’s a fulfillment of some brotherly teasing from earlier stories showing through in this epilogue and I’m HERE for it!
At 21 under Ms Lake’s belt with LOKI it still surprises me how fantastic the story she tells is without repetition or any lulls. Such a wonderful book. I can’t wait for the next.
I don’t know where to start. This is another installment of our beloved LOKI family. This book is EVERYTHING!!! All the answers to the questions we’ve had for about 5 books are answers as well as new questions arising. Autumns words suck u you in and you become team LOKI FOR LIFE !!! We get to see all of our favorite characters as well as some new ones the banter love loyalty brotherhood and sisterhood is undeniable and beautifully written !!!
As much as I loved reading another book about Teller and Charlotte, I found myself mostly annoyed with everything that happened. All the club drama and the other couples took so much away from the storyline. This story was supposed to be about Teller knowing Rock is his dad and how he coped with it. And about Charlotte dealing with the pain of her miscarriage. Yet most of that happened off page in favor of random events around the club. And about how Hope, Heidi and Murphy are dealing with it when it’s none of their business!
Charlotte’s trauma was pushed to the background. And it seemed like Teller was too focused on club issues and his own identity crisis to spend time with her! When I know that’s not the case, because Teller would never leave Charlotte suffering alone but again we were told he comforted her but we weren’t shown except once or twice.
Following the epilogue of Beyond Reason, I thought in this book we would at least see Charlotte pregnant and how Teller will be as a dad. Instead their kids don’t even show up on page. What pissed me off the most is the epilogue being narrated from the pov of Rock’s daughter. As if we care! I wanted Teller raising his twins and loving Charlotte. Not whatever this book gave me.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
This book tied up all the breadcrumbs that were dropped in previous books. We got a great intro with some history and an epilogue of a far away future that makes me happy to know this series can go on forever. Seriously the best MC series ever. I can't sing enough praises for the author who manages to tackle important subjects, create a beautiful fictional world I want to live in, and creates such detailed characters that I wish existed in life. Toxic tropes do not exist in her books. It's refreshing to read about true partners navigating life and love together in a healthy way. Any violence written is usually towards morally bankrupt people and not written in a gratuitous way. Every book she writes is amazing. I will ALWAYS pre-order any book she writes.
Finally! A perfect blend of so much painfully hard truths and coming together of characters who needed it all. This is absolutely not a book to skip or read first. Without letting any spoilers out, RECKLESS TRUTHS covers such a huge range of previous storylines, little glimpses into earlier books specific areas, and finally hashes several major secrets all at once. And their immediate fallout. Autumn Jones Lake truly is the best author. Her ability to draw her true readers in, encapsulate both characters and fans in one insanely perfectly-imperfect world. Her dedication to both her stories/characters, true writing style/passion and her fans is what whole heartedly makes this series so amazing. While she hears what readers would love or want to read she never breaks her own personal promises, styles, plots, or fans down just to make a buck (or list.)
If I could give this ten gold stars, I would. Autumn’s Lost Kings world is so real and so vibrant, I visit it multiple times per year. This book, the one where the infamous Chapter 11 news is made public, has been long awaited and does not disappoint. Teller has always been a smart mouth with little filter. I LOVE Charlotte as his partner. They are so perfect together. His unwavering support of her, and hers of him, are as couples goals as Rock and Hope.
Having just reread this one, I have to again pay tribute to AJL’s creative genius. So much history and backstory are packed in this one book. The characters are like family, not just to each other, but to long time readers.
Having closer to Teller and Charlotte's story was an awesome read. Keeping secrets from your family can have devastating effects on the people you love. Char and Teller are protectors and the news of Rock being his father. Teller was worried about his sisters reaction and his best friend, then there was the secret him and Charlotte kept her having a miscarriage.
The Kings in true form always have each other's back. Can't wait to read Dex, Zigging and all the others brothers stories
