THE END IS NIGH - for the structure mind controlling humans and convincing them that the aliens are sexy space elves waiting to reproduce with all virile men...
MAD tamed his current sector. He told the world how to find power and combat the threats that surround them. He's built a base that won't just keep him and his friends secure, but fed as well. Only the final part of his mission remains.
However, equipping his friends and destroying the mind-control pylon won't be enough. His enemy is smarter, has more combat experience, near-infinite funds, and is willing to risk breaking the System's rules to defeat MAD.
It's too bad for them he doesn't know how or when to give up.
The epic finale of the MAD Series is here! Don't miss out.
I love these books. I don't know what my obsession with this genre is but I do know that the "Mad" books are top of the bunch. I listen to the one I have on audible all the time, repeatedly. I wish they'd hurry and put the last two in the series on audible too!! Btw, loved the "Futurama" references in this book. I giggled more than was warranted.
The main story is mostly completed, but it has room for more books. The System comes to Earth and producers of the intergalactic show Survival Planet gimp the powers typically given for maximum carnage. The Mc knows the truth as the story they give is all their men are dead and the sexy space elves need the seed of the strongest is Bs. That’s why the call him mad.
Been waiting on this one for a minute. I really enjoy the universe that has been created. It’s fun and interesting. I really enjoy how it shows the thought processes of the MC, instead of jumping around with decisions lacking any cohesive explanation. I thoroughly enjoyed the characters progression/growth. Quite a showdown towards the end. Can’t wait to see more in this expanding universe.
(Talking about all 3 MAD books). Even though the locale and peoples lives are quite different from what I’m used to, it was presented in a way so it is an enjoyable learning experience instead of being completely jarring and pulling me out of the books. It’s really cool how a balance between the fun and seriousness of different situations were kept.
A sly, tongue-in-cheek, lit-rpg full of action and heart. I know that sounds like a lot of stories in this genre, but when push comes to shove it is the execution that matters and J Pal brought a firing squad.
They Call me Maddest; A LitRPG Apocalypse Series: Mad Book 3 by J Pal is as good as it gets. Thrilling end to a fantastic story I look forward to reading whatever he writes next
This series is one of my top litrpgs. Relatable characters and a lot of funny moments and pop culture moments of movies and tv shows from nearly 100 years ago with references and respect to aunties like Isaac Asimov to the 80s 90s and naughtys. Hope others enjoy it to.
The latest instalment of Mad continues to impress with exciting battles and crazy creations. The characters continue to intrigue and grow as a group, making for an addictive story. I can't wait for the next book.
Overall, I loved the premise, storyline, breadth of characters, etc, and would recommend it to anyone. Not sure if the series is done based on the ending, but if so, it ended far too early.
Critically speaking though, the main character slowly becomes the typical egocentric, aloof, passive aggressive, Asperger's laden trope present in far too many LitRPG series. The last two books mostly consist of his inner ramblings and tangential thoughts (especially during fights of all times), with an abrasive degree of hypocrisy. The books would be greatly improved if it focused on the macro level of their party instead of his inner malarkey.
I also found the narrator to be annoying in the last two books. Maybe I didn't realize it in the first, but it's slow and pretentious during the unimportant filler parts, yet rushed with poor annunciation during important parts. It's annoying having to rewind several times to figure out what they're saying. The horrible audio compression certainly doesn't help this; it's ludicrous for three books downloaded at the HQ setting to be 800MB. Audible really needs to stop applying lossy compression to such a degree. As of now, the HQ setting sounds like FM radio with the LQ being AM/HAM quality.
I'm not really sure why this is the last book in the series, there's plenty of story left, especially since the goals of the first book are (barely) accomplished here. I wonder if the author is just tired of this angle on the story, since he did say there would be other stories, but for me, the story doesn't seem complete, and it's a bit of a mystery why it was ended where it was. Still, except for the nonsensical arbitrary stopping point, the story is a relatively good one, and I have to say, I like the invented tools used in the story, (that's the kind of thing I like to see in these kinds of tales). If you've read the first two, you most certainly won't want to miss this one, though if you're looking for a tying up of loos ends, and a nice neat story ending, you won't find that here, so just be advised.
Man after finishing, They Called Me Madder bk2, I couldn't wait to start the final book in the dynamite trilogy! It's just that good! J Pal really nailed it and knocked They Called Me Maddest outta the park! And I couldn't have loved the book more! The action-driven plot keeps the reader on the edge all the way through to its exciting conclusion! I really enjoyed meeting Glimmer too, a new but welcomed character! As her/its(?) inclusion fits in nicely, actuality reinforcing the game-show aspect. Not only did book come to a completely satisfying end, but gave J Pal enough wiggle room to write a spin-off series! And of course I for one am dying to see what happens next!!! So grab the audiobook Mad, because you love fun action-driven plots, gamelit written in a system apocalypse style ARC, pop-cultural references, and a fantastic nuanced voice performance.
I just finished the audible version of the 3.. not bad I really enjoyed the book series a lot but for 1 thing.. the deaths. The first was ok thought never felt like did much with them anyways.. second just felt like "o is something going to come of this?" And nothing did really.. then the final yeah.. much like the first kept forgetting him tell brought up in a talk. They didn't hit me to hard if at all. Rest of the book is great and I hope j. Pal makes more of the series as I bet could how it was ended but if not ah well.
An enjoyable addition to the series. More than a few editing issues. Misspelled words, wrong names is odd places, that kind of thing. There was serious plot progression and I love how more the mc has begun to think tactical and really exploring his powers. The other side characters didn't do much here though. The encounter with the enemy, I found satisfying and look forward to the conclusion of these series.
I've just finished all three books and I really enjoyed the story and the overall idea of how people obtained the powers and how they functioned. I also enjoyed the aspects unique to humans. There were several mistakes thought the book, mostly peoples names being mixed up with one another but still very easy to work out. Thank you J. Pal for an interesting read, the idea of a human creating random kickass devices to fight monsters made me happy. :P
After sacrifices of blood, sweat, tears, limbs, bodies, and lives Mad and his allies are ready to assault the tower which is brainwashing humanity in its vicinity. It will be a true Boss Battle.
This novel ends the MAD trilogy and like the previous two may appeal to fans of the broader Fantasy genre as its LitRPG elements care fairly sparse.
This series got better with each book. I loved the way the universe expanded, the characters grew and became more detailed, and really enjoyed all the action. I know this was a 3 part series but the characters were so much fun that I hope thee are other books covering further adventures as they free the rest of earth. I definitely recommend this book and series.
I love this series and this book is a great addition. It is funny but serious at the same time. The series is not just written for humor and the stories is second. The main character is over powered but thing do not always work out perfectly. So glad I read this book and recommend that you also read it.
This series continues to entertain me with its interesting power evolutions, the high stakes, the character interactions and the well placed comedy. No spoilers but I was a bit disappointed by a character’s death. Apart from that, I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
I'm just glad that this series is done. The core story was okay, but to many last minute wonder saves and the entire mind control over humanity just really killed the story for me.
I will not mince words this is one of the best of series I've read, ever. The formula behind the stories is simple but executed in a fashion that I believe even Tolkien would enjoy... it's not as good as Lord of the Rings but worth every penny.
I really enjoyed this book. Good battles, cool powers interesting characters all with a good plot. I don’t know if there will be more in the series but it ended in away that I’m good with either.
The trilogy wrapped up fairly tidy with good conflict and a satisfying end. That said it is definitely open for more stories in this world worth the same group
Quite the fun and satisfying ending to the series. I had my worries that so few pages would do the story justice, but my expectations were exceeded! 👍🏾👍🏾
