Warrior. Leader. Billionaire. He’ll risk everything to keep her safe. Including his heart.
Luke Reilly earned the name Timberwolf in the Marine Corps. After the tragic death of his parents, his world changed. Now, he only has room in his life for his sister, his military brothers, and the billion dollar tech company he inherited. He swore he’d never get close to anyone again, but he didn’t expect to find his soulmate being mugged in an alleyway.
Liv Sutton can count on one hand the people she trusts. Abandoned by her mother at a young age and cheated on by her ex-husband, betrayal is a close companion. When her life is threatened, she locks eyes with a handsome rescuer who stirs an unexpectedly deep primal connection.
Just as fate brings them together, decades old secrets of a mysterious enemy threaten to tear them apart. Luke will need to rely on his instincts as the Timberwolf to get them both out alive, or risk losing everything again.
Code Name: Timberwolf is the first part of a duet. Luke and Liv’s story continues in Code Name: Sparrow.
Laura Mowery has had her nose in a book since she learned her ABC’s, so it's no surprise that she pursued a career as an author. She grew up obsessed with stories, especially any that included supernatural or otherworldly elements. She also loved to get swept away on romantic adventures. Now she gets to combine the two and write about what she loves; suspense, superpowers, and steamy romance.
Laura lives in San Diego, CA with her husband, two cats and a dog. If she’s not writing, you’ll find her adventuring with her husband, eating tacos, drinking local craft beer, or curled up with a book.
12/13/2021 - KU. This was a cool start to a romantic suspense/sci-Fi series. I clicked with Mowery’s writing style and I really liked Luke & Liv - both individually and as a couple. I appreciated that while they’d both been burned in the past and had slight hesitancy about embarking on a relationship, once it started they were all in. The majority of the angst comes from external sources and threats. Liv isn’t TSTL, which is great. Luke is a billionaire alpha male without being a jerk. Mowery has created some really awesome (and hilarious) people as Luke’s Marine buddies. The banter is enjoyable.
I feel like this review is somewhat vague - but I don’t want to risk spoiling anything. The way it all unfolds is part of what makes it such an engaging story. The pacing was well done and I enjoyed reading this in one day.
While certain issues are resolved - there are a lot of questions left unanswered and this is a cliffhanger that continues in book 2, Code Name: Sparrow.
As you know,i like to try new authors every now and then. So,when a dear friend recommended Code Name:Timberwolf to me,i knew i had to read it. Luckily,Laura was kind enough to give me the ARC,so i could find out exactly how good this story was. Well, let me tell you…..it was GOOD! Not dark, not very steamy, but a well thought out, interestingly told story with a mysterious enemy. A story that made me want to want to hear more of this author, that’s for sure!
Liv is getting her life back on track after her divorce. She has the support of her bestie Eva and her brother John has her back when she needs it. On her way home one day,she takes a shortcut, and is attacked by a mugger. Lucky for her,Luke happens to be nearby on his run,and he comes to the rescue. There is an instant attraction, and when he’s sure she’ll be ok,he invites her to come to his gym. Once she does,he arranges selfdefence lessons for her with his partner and friend,Brando. As she meets his other friends there too,she enjoys the feeling of closeness they have. And as she explores a possible relationship with Luke, she’s included in that closeness. Only, there’s more to Luke than she knows…..but when he comes clean, she makes sure he understands it doesn’t make any difference in how she looks at him. With their relationship going in the right direction, you’d think all’s well. But that’s where the suspense comes in….. Because there’s a secret group following not only Liv,but Luke, her brother and father as well. With reasons that may be good, but methods that sound….a little shady. And a sinister group is after Liv as well, for very different reasons! Will they succeed? How grave is the danger Liv is in?
Having finished Code Name:Timberwolf,i have to say i enjoyed myself….very much! And i really need Code Name:Sparrow, the next in the series! Because Liv and Luke’s story is far from over……
This is the first book in a duet and the debut novel from Laura Mowery. It is the first superhero/super soldier romance I've read, and I loved it! The characters are so well thought out. I loved their banter, especially Luuk's friends with Liv.
Liv is a wonderful heroine. She's emerging from a failed marraige, trying to find herself again. And Luke? OMG. He's delicious. He's this billionaire Marine, but he's not a jerk. He has his demons though, and this book is the start to him figuring them out.
There's intrigue, there's action, there's some good sexy lovin'. The romance is a slow burn, and you can really feel Liv and Luke falling in love. This book is written in present tense and I love how that quickens the pace. I seriously couldn't put it down, and I was mad when I had to cuz real life got in my way.
I can't wait for the second installment in this series, coming in November 2021, and I'm super excited to read about all the other men and what their abilities will be. I love Dylan. If there's a claiming list for these guys, he's mine!
There's a prequel novella for this book, and it's good too. If you sign up for her newsletter at lauramowery.com, you get it free!
This is Laura Mowery debut novel that will be released on July 22nd. In case you want a little taste you can join her newsletter for a free copy of the Prequel to the Infinitum Series: John.
Liv had to start over after divorcing her cheating husband. Trying to catch a break and enjoying her fro-yo goes terribly wrong when she got mugged, going face-to-face with her vulnerability.
Luke, who was close by, ran to her rescue. Owning a gym that offered self-defense classes, he invited Liv to try it. Not only because she needed to learn how to defend herself after nearly being shot, but also because he wanted to see her again.
The two of them met again, and their connection didn’t take long to deepen. Their story would’ve been straightforward, but secrets are trying to destroy that connection they have.
We get three POVs: Liv, Luke, and Specter. I was so confused by what was happening, then it clicked. I’m trying not to spoil anything here. There are lots of tropes this book could belong to: military romance, billionaire romance, traumatic past, super-soldiers, buried secrets, you name it.
I enjoyed the way Liv and Luke seemed to embarrass themselves in front of each other. It adds comedy to the book. For some reason, I felt like it had some of The CW Beauty and the Beast vibes. Kinda. There’s a suspense to this book that keeps you reading, trying to figure out what the hell was going on. Laura Mowery will pull you in, making you ask for more of what her Infinitum world would offer.
The story progresses pretty well. Don’t stop reading after the first chapters, it gets better. Promise.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
I’ve had the pleasure of reading this authors debut novel and Wow, I loved it!
Code Name: Timberwolf is book 1 of Infinitum Series. It’s romantic, suspenseful and has elements of ‘superpowers’ which I’m surprised I enjoyed as I’m rather boring and like my stories realistic with no supernatural elements, however, the way it’s written fits well within the story, it’s not over powering and it adds perfectly to the story (so don’t be put off if superhuman abilities is not your thing) I’m now intrigued by this element and excited to read more.
The story is told with 3 POV’s, we have Luke, Liv and Spector, this did confuse me at the start but once I got into the story I was hooked, Spec was an interesting character and I’m invested in hearing more from him and his team in the next book, I reckon his team are certainly the twist in the forthcoming books.
What jumped out of this book for me was the characters, and not just the main ones. Luke and Liv were front & centre, I loved their nervous awkwardness at the beginning of their relationship, although it wasn’t rushed, they soon burned up my kindle with their love story, but for me the secondary characters are brilliant! I really hope the author builds this series to include Luke’s friends/work colleagues….I loved Jackson…and Dylan…and Brando…and Mark 😂 the list is endless lol
This story ends with a HFN, it is the first part of a duet. Luke and Liv’s story will continue in Code Name: Sparrow, available November 12th. Highly recommend pre-ordering this captivating debut book!
ARC review: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I was so excited to read this book! I am, admittedly, a romance neophyte when it comes to my reading life. I am never quite sure what to expect, but based on the setting and premise of this one, I was SO ready! This fun, fast-paced, and (yes, I know) heart-throbbing story was a great way for me to dive head-first into the genre. The story is told from the point of view of 3 characters: Liv, Luke, and… I’ll leave the third for you to discover. You’ll know who they are just a couple of chapters in, but that is part of the story that adds some intrigue to the plot overall. I am often unsure how female characters will be handled in romance/thriller/adventure novels, but Liv was in amazing hands with this author. She was fun, relatable, quirky, and beautiful. She felt like a real person I might know in San Diego. Luke is so much more than his outer shell of “gym owner and military vet” might suggest. He’s tough when necessary, surprisingly geeky at times, and his love for those closest to him is heart-melting. Whether you are a long-time reader of romance or a newbie like me, I think you’ll enjoy this steamy, exciting, debut novel!
Talk About a Dream Alpharoll!! Laura Mowery’s debut book has a little bit of everything. Romance, humor, suspense, intrigue, a slow burn, and spice! I really loved this read and hated putting it down to go to sleep every night.
Liv is a young divorcee who is trying to reclaim her life when one day, she’s mugged in an alley and saved by our hero, Luke. He offers to have her train in self defense at the gym he owns. She accepts, kickstarting their story together.
Now I love a former military turned billionaire hero but what made this character so great was his Alpharoll status. Alpha hero when it counts but also sweet and kind. Luke was adorable and I loved how vulnerable and unsure he was at times. It was refreshing to see a confident, sexy character have some doubts.
Liv was cool and sweet, but also funny and had her awkward moments. I loved that she was still kind of figuring stuff out, taking care of herself but not having it all together like some heroines do. She was relatable in that way.
The side characters were all awesome in their own ways and I can’t wait to read more about them as the series continues.
What really set this book apart was the point of view and storyline from a third perspective that led to a lot of intrigue and suspense. It kept me guessing and I enjoyed the small breaks from the romance because Mowery was great at getting back to it in a satisfying way.
The writing was good but a little rushed and I think could have been a bit more nuanced, which I’m sure will come with experience. All in all, a really solid and enjoyable debut! I definitely recommend it and can’t wait for the next one!
I was lucky enough to receive an advanced copy of this book written by one of my oldest childhood friends. This debut novel, the first in the Infinitum Series, is suspenseful and romantic, with Sci-Fi elements that really add depth to the story. As someone who is not generally big on the romance genre, I felt that the supernatural storyline set this apart from other books in a good way. I found myself wanting to know more about that storyline and some of the other characters who belong to it.
The story is told through three different narrators: Luke, Liv, and Specter. I was most intrigued by the Specter portion of the story, probably because it initially confused me – I could not figure out why it was included. Luke and Liv’s story develops in a natural way, albeit a bit quickly in the first chapters, but I found myself wanting to get to the bottom of why Specter was included in this love story. Once Specter’s purpose in the book was explored a bit more, I really wanted to know more about his backstory. I also found myself very intrigued by other peripheral characters like John, Jackson, Liv’s dad, and Brando. There were some plot holes that I am hoping will be filled in as the series progresses, as I do not think there was nearly enough time in this book to fully develop some of the characters’ backgrounds.
This book will reel you in and keep you engaged. It is a fun, light read and I look forward to the story developing with the other characters’ books.
Code Name: Timberwolf is Laura Mowery’s debut release and part one of a duet. Readers….you would never know that Laura has not been writing and releasing books for years already. Yes it is that good! If I could give it 10 stars I would. I just rhymed…but I digress. It is in my opinion simply the best debut I have read to date.
This story grabs a hold of you and does not let go. The pages basically will turn by themselves in this unputdownable read. Filled with mystery, intrigue, action, suspense and of course romance. There is also some subterfuge going on here that has your mind constantly trying to solve the puzzle of who’s connected to whom and exactly who knows what.
I love Luke and Olivia’s relationship and the secondary characters are just as well developed. The banter between Luke and his friends, who formed their bond in the military is some of the best I have ever read. I quickly found myself invested in every one of these characters and absolutely need to know how their stories turn out. Their love for and camaraderie with each other jumps right off the page and it feels as if you are right there witnessing it happen. I certainly hope the author has a plan for each of them.
If you’re a fan of the Ghostwalker Series by Christine Feehan then you need to read this book. I truly feel as if I just got hooked on a new T.V. Series and cannot want for the next episode! Well done Laura Mowery! Well done.
Arc Review! I am admittedly a dark romance/bad boy/hate to love romance junkie so this book was outside my typical trope choice, but the premise and supernatural storyline intrigued me and pulled my in. Plus who wouldn't want a hot billionaire to fall head over heals for them? I'm honestly so impressed with this debut novel and I really enjoyed this read! The writing was great, the characters were so endearing, I cackled out loud multiple times, and I kept wanting to read more to find out what the mysterious plot line was all about. I love a strong female lead and Liv was smart, sassy, and badass. For how sweet the romance was, the smut was suprisingly and delightfully dirty. The side characters were also completely loveable. I would say my only preference would have been for a slightly faster pace for the romance and the intro of the supernatural plot line, mainly because I just wanted more smut and to find out what was going on and I am impatient lol. But that's just my overall reading style and I think that this book is highly enjoyable for any romance reader and an amazing start to this authors career! I can't wait for the next one!
Code Name: Timberwolf is a story that follows newly divorced Liv Sutton and Former Marine Luke Reilly. Their meet cute is totally fitting for the tone of the story--being that the beginning of their relationship is just the beginning of what's to come.
Liv's transformation from being a victim to a woman who can hold her own is so refreshing. She goes from getting mugged in an alley, and instead of cowering and shutting herself away, she takes Luke's offer of teaching her self defense.
I love Laura's writing style. She writes real, raw, relatable characters. The steamy scenes were AMAZING. You could feel the love and passion that these two characters felt for each other.
I also have to commend Laura on her portrayal of John, Liv's brother. There are a lot of stereotypes of overprotective older brothers I feel just aren't that realistic, and John was the opposite. He's a supportive big brother, but also allows Liv to be herself and to make her own mistakes without suffocating her.
There are a slew of characters that are important to the series, and no doubt, we'll learn more about them as the series continues. I am so excited to learn about what this organization is and what it's purpose is.
This was such a fun read and I can't wait to see what else is in store for the Infinitum series!
Code Name: Timberwolf is the first book by the author Laura Mowery. The story is about Liv and former marine Luke. The story is romantic with suspenseful elements. It is told from 3 POV Liv, Luke and Spector. The story is well written and adds intrigue especially on Spector and its connections to Liv and Luke. I loved their first meet and how both of them are nervous of their feeling for each other.
The author has beautifully built this relationship between Liv, Luke and his buddies (looking forward to their stories!).The relationship between Liv and her brother, the romance between Liv and Luke, the rapport between Liv and Luke’s friends all make this a lovely read. The way the author has built this story with between the main characters and also the secondary characters not only makes you fall in love with Luke and Liv but makes you want to see the secondary characters and their stories as well. I’m looking forward to the next book and hoping for more books on all the other characters in the book :)!!
Review for Codename: Timberwolf by Laura Mowery. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Reading this book was such fun for me. I adored the relationship building between Luke and Liv. Liv was precisely the kind of heroine I love to read about, intelligent, confident, and knows what's she wants. Let me tell you I went into this book not knowing what to expect and it exceeded all expectations. Not only was it funny, sexy, and heartwarming but it had a storyline that made me devour the book. My only complaint is having to wait for the rest of the Infinitum Series to come out and answer my questions.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I was lucky enough to receive an ARC for this brilliant debut novel. I'm so happy I got to read it earlier than everyone else!
The chemistry between Liv and Luke drew me in from the start and I really enjoyed the interactions between them and their friends. I can’t wait to read what happens next in this new and different take on a romance story.
This is a well written, fast paced story with everything you could wish for.
Ready for a former marine billionaire alpharoll who'll do whatever it takes to protect the woman he loves? Fall in love with Luke Reilly in Code Name: Timberwolf!
First of all, I’ve read one other romantic suspense in my life and I disliked the feeling of fear I experienced while reading. This one gave me a better feeling, but I was still holding my breath near the end.
Liv, recently divorced, finds herself in a dark alleyway and in trouble. Luckily, Luke happens to be in the right place at the right time. They end up spending time together and their connection starts to grow into a very slow burn. Things start to get a bit crazy after she finds out he is a billionaire and trouble from his past finds them. While all this is happening, more buried secrets start to come out and there’s definitely something else at play here.
I like Liv and Luke. I really like his buddies. I didn’t like seeing Liv in trouble again and how far it went, but that’s the suspense for you. I did find myself confused here and there, but for the most part, it was a good read.
I really enjoyed this book. Although I thought the beginning started out a little slow with their relationship. There is a lot going on but it was still easy to keep up. I enjoyed the characters and the storyline is unique.
A necessarily slow start to the ongoing sci-fi/superhero romance series, Book 1 explores Luke and Liv's "meetcute" (meetmug? meet... rescue?) and their budding relationship, while gradually dropping hints and dripping backstory and espionage-style details along the way.
Luke is incredibly sensitive and humble for being such a macho man, ex-soldier, and billionaire, which is a refreshing change of pace from the usual manly alphaholes. He even CRIES, ladies and gentlemen. We stan a man who isn't afraid to feel (and show!) emotion!
Liv herself is willing to put in the work to go from weak and unable to defend herself in the beginning, to a badass ass-kicker by the book's end– while still being able to process her emotions and weaknesses.
Don't even get me started on the ensemble of supporting characters: I wish Luke's family was my family. But not blood-related, because I wanna, like, do stuff to them. ;)
This book is a slow burn where the steamy scenes don't happen until like 50-75% of the way through, but it only makes their relationship more realistic. And the scenes themselves are 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 and totally worth the wait. Luke's dirty talk is also ON POINT.
Also, the hat scene. THE HAT SCENE. That is all.
I can't wait for Book 2 to continue Luke and Liv's story!
I was hooked from the first chapter! This book has everything!! Suspense, technology, characters that you can relate to! All of the emotions! Love, laughter, sadness, and STEAMY!! I can’t wait for Code Name Sparrow!
I enjoyed this debut! Liv is hesitant to start a relationship because her previous one ended badly, and Luke is hesitant because women tend to use him. Their first encounter is not an ideal way to meet, but their connection is real and undeniable. It was adorable to read about how nervous they both were in the beginning, and when it was finally time to bring the heat to their relationship, it got very pleasantly steamy. ;) I loved all the side characters who made up their chosen family, including Luke's Marine brothers, and Liv's friend and brother. There is still a lot we don't know yet, and I will definitely read the next book when it comes out.
I enjoyed reading Code Name: Timberwolf it build up to be a good story. I can't wait to read the rest of Luke and Liv's story. Now in looking for a story with Dylan and Garret. And since i have read Johns story I'm going to back track and read his story now.
I thank the author for having the vision to write such a book. I will be following her and looking forward to reading the next
This is my first novel by Laura Mowery and I was pleasantly surprised. I'm not normally one to read novels involving billionaires and I confess I came into this novel sceptical it would be something I might enjoy. Much to my surprise, the story was engaging, with fabulous characters who displayed wonderful growth.
What I liked:
- Sparrow was awesome. Tough, but vulnerable with a pragmatic streak a mile wide. I also confess to liking Timberwolf, he seemed down to earth despite his wealth.
- I liked that Luke didn't try to hide his financial position for long, he was open and honest. Liv's reaction was also perfect. Working to retain her independence while being reasonable and caring.
- The concept of the story, a secret evil organisation pulling strings from the back end. This was surprisingly well done for what I would consider and overused trope.
What I didn't like:
- Some of the camaraderie did feel little forced at times. As the story progressed the relationships became more natural, but that initial relationship building was a bit stiff.
Overall I'd recommend the novel as a good contemporary romance.
This is a new author for me, and I was intrigued by the description. As such, I stayed up reading this book, because the couple kept seeming to be right on the cusp of intimacy and commitment. Much to my frustration the romance between Liv and Luke-grown adults-took forever to bloom. It was ridiculous that 2 adults would go on several dates before even kissing, and then weeks & weeks before getting past heavy petting. Then, “boom,” it was like they both jumped into a super intense and passionate sexual relationship. So, before I picked up where I left off the night before, I looked into the next book in the series, only to find out that this couple’s story is not concluded in this first book. As I was already frustrated, I decided to DNF, even the though the suspense sub-plot seemed to be intriguing. I was afraid that the other books would take forever to get to the plot destination , and meander through the weeds of unnecessary padding. This series does not appear to be for me. The flow and timing are too tedious.
I was really intrigued by this book. There is a military element and also a superhero part to the story.
This is not a standalone, I'm thinking a duet for this couple, but it looks like the story continues throughout the series even if there are different couples in each book.
There is a lot of mystery, lots of things are hinted at, and I'm not sure how it all links together yet, but I'm reading the next book to find out for sure. Someone has been activating a sleeping 'superhero' gene, but we don;t know why or how it will affect the people involved. Some know about it, some don't, but not everyone knows everything.
I loved all the characters. They have such a found family vibe and are so loyal to each other. They had no problem adding Liv and John to the group.
The romance between Liv and Luke is so hot, and the chemistry is magnectic, but they take it so slow to begin with, the build up was torment, lol
That cliffhanger and the way Luke acted at the end is definitely making me read the next book - he has so much begging for forgiveness that I can't wait to read!
I picked this up in a superhero bundles, but it is more billionaire romance than superhero. The powers are just kicking in at the 75% mark.
Initially, it seems like a normal male-female romance, with some military bonus goodness. Then there is behind the scene secrets, perfect for a series. Then family is mixed in. Then the billionaire gets tacked in ... and it is too much. Too Mary Sue for both the hero and heroine (a lot of Mary Sue is normal for a romance, this just crosses the line for me). And I never believe the billionaire aspect, it is too easy. And now at 75% we start adding superpowers.
I'm done. It's a romance with extra, but too much extra. Too many things pressed together.
This is my first book from the author. I got it for free on Kindle from one of those giveaway weeks. Those books are not always the best; however, this one was a pleasant surprise. I really like when the free book is the first one of a series as this one is. The author created a fascinating group of characters. There are the good guys, the bad guys, and the mystery guys. I found the premise very interesting, and the story kept my attention to the point where I read the book in one evening. Now I have to buy the next books in the series. I am always happy when I really like a book and there are several more in the series or by the same author to indulge in. The first book had an excellent balance of romance and peril.
Timberwolves us the first book I have read by this author. But won't be my last. Wow! What a fantastic love story with action that keeps you turning the pages. The supporting characters play as big a part in the book as the main characters. This story pulls you in completely, and you want to be part of this group.
