Libanon Farvel: Israels Første Nederlag

Rate this book

CRITICAL ACCLAIM:

"Goodbye Lebanon is a rare epic of an enormous book, an impressive and imposing work both in its content, its form and its execution, driven by knowledge, insight and respect, moral empathy, indignation and revulsion"
- Jan Askelund, Stavanger Aftenblad

"Of this season's weightly Middle East books, Norwegian journalist Odd Karsten Tveit rises above all others with humor and a myriad of detail in a fascinating representation of a tragic conflict...Karsten Tveit's coup is that his book is populated by real people in flesh and blood in a scenario which (referring to the present) covers the 22 years period from 1987 to 2000, when Israel intervened in Lebanon"
- Lasse Ellegaard, Informationen (Denmark)

"I would say, as a journalist who covered Lebanon during its darkest hours, that Goodbye Lebanon is a powerful addition to the narrative of that unfortunate country- especially so, because it doesn't always conform to the version to which many Americans have been exposed"
- H.D.S. Greenway, a syndicate US journalist who has read the manuscript

"...the book...is wonderful and important... with the unfolding drama of the Arab Spring, it is more vital than ever to understand the complex domestic relationships within Middle Eastern nations. Perhaps of them all, Lebanon's web of antagonistic parties needs clarifying. Goodbye Lebanon does just that through a riveting story of Israel's invasions, first 1978, then 1982, which inflamed the country, hardened positions and has left a very disturbing legacy."
- Jane Fletcher Geniesse, author of Passionate Nomad
