She's just his partner, because she's seen the number of women he parades through his life. No amount of charm and good looks is worth being played...until Sabrina witnesses Jason take the blame for someone else at the law office where they both work.
Sabrina: Jason Finch has had no shortage of girlfriends—if you can even call the women he sees that. He's tall, good-looking, incredibly intelligent, and always has the perfect comeback. He's as polished as he is irritating, especially with the way he struts around the law firm where we work together, as if he owns the place.
He doesn't, thank you very much.
We both made partner (even if I'm a junior partner and he's a full partner) within same year, and I've managed to keep our relationship professional even with the late nights, the social events, and the close quarters at the office. Until I see him take the fall on a case that he barely touched.
Everything changes then, and when the managing partner at the firm comes down hard on him, I step in.
My boss trusts me, and when I vouch for Jason...he thinks we're seeing each other. "I'm just his partner," I say, not realizing (at the time) that the word "partner" can have a different meaning than the lawyerly one.
Jason is suddenly kind, appreciative, and...real. I can't help thinking that our relationship could be more than a façade too.
Which makes me crazy. After all, no one actually turns the office playboy into marriage material.
Do they? Can I?
I've never shied away from a challenge, and I suddenly want to try taking myself from just his partner to his girlfriend.
Get ready to laugh out loud in this hilarious, sweet workplace romantic comedy! The romance is clean, the jokes witty, and the law-office-grump swoon-worthy. Read today!
Author Donna Jeffries loves everything about the South, from the big ships to the food. Oh, and the office grumps in her Southern Roots Sweet Romantic Comedy series. Get ready to laugh out loud, sigh at the sweet, tender moments, and swoon over the office grumps in her sweet office romcom series.
Although a certain suspension of disbelief is required to read romance novels of any kind, I struggle when authors treat readers like gullible goobers who will believe anything and consequently choose not to do even the slightest bit of research before publishing. I find it particularly challenging when it’s a female author writing female characters for predominantly female audiences.
In this case, the author presents readers with a female protagonist who, theoretically, completed four years of undergraduate study, passed the LSAT and was admitted to law school, completed 2 years of graduate school to obtain a JD, did an internship with a law firm and/or a judge, passed the bar exam, and practices law for a private firm that somehow is responsible for prosecuting criminal activity, but cannot read well-enough to follow a simple recipe. In fact, this high-powered and successful attorney-at-law is mentally incapable of basic problem solving. She is so dull-witted, forget walking and chewing gum, she cannot walk and breathe at the same time, desperately in need of the guiding hand of a man to ferry her through life.
In reality, state and federal prosecutors are the ones responsible for prosecuting criminal activity and most attorneys thrive on minutia as it is often the difference between winning and losing cases.
It would be one thing, if any of these characters failed at things because life is capricious and even the best-laid plans often fail, but this was simply poor writing.
Just His Partner is the fourth book in her series Southern Roots Sweet RomCom. It holds an great place in the series and it is very sweet. Jason and Bri (Sabrina) are lawyers in the same firm and they start to date. He's a playboy who is working who's hoping to get the girl - someone who's different than any one he's ever met. You can read this as a standalone novel, but the previous novels do help because previous characters pop in and out of the story. Think: the book version of the TV show, Friends. The chapters rotate between characters, mainly Jason and Bri. About halfway through the novel, other characters take the lead. They are all a part of the friends group in the series. It's good to hear about the previous characters and how their story continues. But the main story still remains at the forefront and it's a Happily Ever After. Some characters are still waiting to star in their own novel and the Jeffries shares a sneak peek of her next novel at the end of the book!

Oh my gosh! That was so cute and sweet and funny. It’s got so much emotional growth in our leading couple. I loved watching Jason and Bri open up about their pasts; getting real and vulnerable with each other. Of course, this doesn’t happen without a few hiccups along the way. And while that meant some heart wrenching soul-searching for both of them, it gave us the sweetest Grand Gesture and what’s possibly the best ending so far in the series. I also had a lot of fun catching up with the other couples from the earlier books and seeing where they’re at now in their lives. I’m already looking forward to digging into the next book.
A sweet cute romantic comedy, a quick and clean read.. It follows Sabrina and Jason’s story. They are both lawyers at the same law firm. They have amazing connections and chemistry. I love the banter. I liked the storyline and the characters. The pace was a bit slow for my taste but I’m sure many others will appreciate that.
I don't know where to start. I loved the friendships in this book. All of them were so good to each other and supportive. I also loved the chemistry between Jason and Sabrina . I loved how both of them were good at their job and admired each other. That's a healthy team work and I am up for it.
I do have some kind of feeling toward the miscommunication. The make up was so on point, that I was so frustrated because I wanted them to talk like that from the start. I understand their pasts and hurt were behind it, and I liked they left their pride to discuss everything. I did like that they finally were aware of their flaws as uniqueness and stop achieving for "perfection".
At first I was confused with the multiple pov's (having the MCs and secondary characters). But I ended up loving it. It felt such a cool connection between all the characters and the story.I do think this series should be read in order though, so you don't miss anything.
This is the first book I read by Donna, and I definitely want to read the next one!!. The sneak peak left me wanting for more! I think that story will be awesome and I can't wait!

This is the first book I have read from the author and I definitely want to read more (excited for just his barista) can be read as a standalone but I think it would be more enjoyable to have read the other books first as characters from the previous books are heavily involved from the mid point and get their own chapters, which I enjoyed but I know I would have enjoyed them more if I had read their back stories.
Sabrina (Bri) and Jason together are so cute, no other word for them really. They are an innocent and sweet couple, this being Bri's second chance and Jason's first real relationship.
Bri is confident in her job and abilities, unexpected as a person, loving, kind loyal, and deeply insecure, secretive and childlike in her personal relationships. She has been hurt before and it still deeply impacts her. She grows and develops well through out the story.
Jason is so kind and loving in this book. He was a typical playboy who, when his friends started pairing up, grew up and wanted a more meaningful relationships. He has been interested in Bri for ages, they went on one date and he didn't progress after that as he wanted to work on himself and let's be truthful he was scared as to what it meant.
This is a slow burn romance, but it was engaging and made sense, so you weren't speed reading to get to when they finally got together, the journey there was enjoyable and made the romance extra special.
Well worth a read

Gah! Jason and Bri. These two we have seen cat fight in the previous book so I was super intrigued at their story. I think Bri’s character is super entertaining especially in how she deals with life (hello egg incident). I love how she and Macy became close friends in the way Callie and Tara are too. I feel like that makes her more included in the friend group and not just a 3rd wheel. And let’s just talk about Jason and his poor dog. That man is way over his head but luckily he has Bri to take charge for him. While these two are each pushy in their own way, they make it work. I think them working together gave the. An extra push too because they learned each other’s ticks before ever dipping their toes into saying. This is a dual pov, closed door romance. It is part of a series and while it could be read as a stand alone, I think it would be better enjoyed after reading the other books because we get glimpses into the lives of characters from previous stories.
This book was just so sweet and awesome. I enjoyed Sabrina and Jason together. They are extremely unique and great characters.
Sabrina's growth in the book is really good. I love how she grows as a person. She slowly becomes more confident. Jason's kindness and love helps her, but she does the work.
Jason is a teddy bear. He is super sweet. I loved how he cared for Sabrina. When he reveals his feelings for her, it is just awesome.
The romance in this book is really good. I enjoyed the slowburn feel to it. The romance was extremely engaging. The draw out to the first kiss was totally worth it.
I also enjoyed seeing other characters from other books in this series pop up. Overall, I highly recommend you check out this book.

Sabrina Shadows is a junior partner in a law firm and a terrible cook. She has some body issue baggage.
Jason Finch is a full partner in a law firm and a former ladies man. After seeing his closest friends find happiness with their significant others, he decided to reform his dating habits and look for his One.
Jason wants to date Sabrina but at first she thinks it will be a fake relationship to support his alibi to a senior partner. He goes to HR to get the paperwork required to be submitted when employees date and makes sure she knows his feelings are real. They stumble along dating and have to overcome several hurdles but get their HEA in the end. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Sabrina and Jason work in the same law firm but have bad relationship backgrounds so very wary. She has the issue of being too book learned/no common sense that I saw at the university level often so things like not being able to follow a recipe is understood. My step-sister even has that problem and luckily she married a man who takes care of things in that area. The characters are well developed and the situations are entertaining. The storyline keeps you turning the pages, smiling and shaking your head at the antics going on. Loved the changes that bring them together and the Great Dane was a high point. Ending works well.

Sabrina Shadows and Jason Finch are partners at a law firm. Jason has always been a player, but he is ready to find someone he can care about. Sabrina doesn’t trust that he has given up his playboy ways. But when she sees him getting the blame for something he had no responsibility for and she steps up to defend him, things change between them.
Inadvertently announcing that she is “just his partner” meant something entirely different than the reality of what she had intended to say. But maybe if everyone thinks that they are relationship “partners”, can she make it real?
Partners for life! This is my first book from this author and I truly like what I read. This story not only involves two who work with each other but also some cute animals. Love a book that includes animals and kids, because they know how to make the story funnier and believable. Jason and Sabrina are both work partners, but even in a professional setting, do you really get to know your co-worker or is it until that person does something that is out of the character that one builds on them that changes your outlook. I am eager now to read more from Donna Jeffries including her past books. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
“I never thought I’d find love at a law office”. Bri has been hurt big time as she dated her ex for 5 years before she found out he was married with 2 small children. Jason often dated 3-4 women a week until he saw all his friends finding happiness. Then only one woman interested him, his junior partner, and she looked at him like he was slime for his past actions. He has a past that comes back to bite him and a Great Dane that likes Bri more than him. This is such a great friend group and it’s fun to see them again moving on as they continue their own HEAs with weddings and babies. Fun, clean rom/ com.
Listening to the audiobooks, I don't know why I keep doing this to myself. My hope is that the narrator will change each book but it appears to be the same person, every book. I know its not something I would be able to do myself, but I don't know why they choose to give the characters such whiny voices with bad southern accents. I find it really takes away from the books. I do like that the author introduces other characters storylines throughout as a way to lead into the next book but it can sometimes end up feeling very abrupt and like its just being done to make the current book longer. Probably just a me feeling though.
Lol. I loved it. Again. Bri is so freaking hilarious ! And Jace is just one step behind. But he will not be behind for too long… I have to say that the real star of this story again isn’t human. Or perhaps more human than dog? I love Great Danes! Wonderful people on four paws! So, if you like blind cats, chickens named Hennifer, cats sleeping in cupboards and Great Danes thinking they are Chihuahuas, and a great behind the doors love story… this is for you ! Enjoy your read !

Just his partner is a cute romantic comedy. It follows Sabrina (Bri) and Jason’s story. They are both lawyers at the same law firm. They have amazing chemistry. I love the banter.
I enjoyed this book. It is written mainly in dual pov with an occasional chapter from another character. If that is something you are not a fan of I would not recommend this but if it is I would recommend this. I enjoyed the dual pov with the occasional additional character chapter.

This was a sweet story, and I like the characters in this series. There were a few things that I didn't love: I felt like the chapters from secondary characters got in the way of the story flow, and I would have preferred these chapters as epilogues or bonus chapters you could read in a newsletter. Also, her body issues seemed like a non-issue issue. It seems like it was going to play a big part in building the relationship, but it barely gets addressed and then that's it. I thought it was odd. Overall it was a good story, sweet romance, and cute pets.
All the books in this series have a bunch of the same cliques pet owner, hesitant to love thanks to a bad relationship, work together, animosity turns friendly and then they realize they are perfect for each other. This time the guy pursues the girl first, she is an absolute disaster in the kitchen so it is a good thing she is a lawyer and makes good money. The lawyer jargon seems pretty accurate. My hubby is also a lawyer so a lot of that stuff seemed familiar. I think i am just getting tired of a predictable formula with clean romance novels. Not necessarily the book’s fault
Plot: Sabrina is junior partners with Jason at their law firm. They fight like cats and dogs. When they run into each other outside of the office and Bri becomes his alibi, they have to fake date. When they start spending more time together, usually going over a case, he sees a different side of her that peaks his interests. Suddenly, she is interesting, smart and quick witted. Will she feel the same? How will their time together affect how they work in the office? Will they keep their jobs?
What I liked: I liked that Jason appreciated Bri’s thought process, especially when it helped them win cases
What I didn’t like: I didn’t like Ben or Nate. They really sucked.
This first half of the story didn’t left me warm or cold, the interactions between Jason and Bri were sometimes strange. I loved the previous stories and it was nice to get a glimpse of the other characters like Dawson and Callie, Lance and Jessie and how their stories developed. There’s also a wink to the following story between Coy and Macie.

I got happily surprised that we got some new conversations that didn't happen in the last book which was fun, however the smoothness of the story kinda gets ruined for me every time we get a random chapter in a pov that isn't the FMC or the MMC especially when we are in the middle/end of the book and we get a first time kiss that's important for the NEXT book... Smh it's annoying and I get so confused
Jason and Bri are such an interesting lawyer couple. He's a reformed playboy. She's buttoned up from a deep hurt. They're single while the majority of their friends aren't now. There are court cases, a big dog, hatchets, demolitions, and misunderstandings. It's another great story in this series where friends deeply care for each other and there are happy endings.
Sometimes I just want to fall into a clean sweet romance that makes me smile and believe in HEA. Just His Partner is Book 4 of Elana Johnson's Southers Roots Sweet Rom Com series. We got a preview of these characters already as they were present in the previous books, also no surprise they were going to become Partners in more ways than one.
This was an enjoyable story and I have a feeling I'll be reading much more from the author.
Although they work very well together in the office, this new level was an emotional, entertaining and interesting new concept that I felt they did a pretty good job muddling through. They both have a great circle of friends who are a reliable support circle. The Great Dane adventures are very comical. The story of Jason and Bri. They work together and he is a player who says he is reformed - will she give him a chance? A fun read. I haven't read the other books in the series, so did think I was missing out on the back story a little bit. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This was my first read from this author. I loved the first person point of view of the story, this is a deal breaker for me. This story pulled me in from the start. I really liked Sabrina and I enjoyed this story. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
What fun and entertaining characters to follow along. Always fun to have a grumpy guy and he changes as the story goes along. There are a few chuckle moments and it was a very entertaining read. Like that the setting is in a business. That always makes for some complicated issues and entertaining reading. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
