The Positive Power series introduces self esteem and empathy to budding young readers. I Am Kind is a fun and encouraging story about the power of kindness! Now a part of the premier early reading line, Step into Reading!
A little girl sees kindness all around her. Her mother is kind when she volunteers in the community, and her neighbor is kind when he gives her strawberries from his garden. The little girl realizes that she, too, has the power to be kind. Even small actions can have a big impact! In this installment of the Positive Power early reader series, children will learn the affirmation "I am kind" through an encouraging story of community and everyday kindness.
Step 2 Readers use basic vocabulary and short sentences to tell simple stories, for children who recognize familiar words and can sound out new words with help. Rhyme and rhythmic text paired with picture clues help children decode the story.
A warm and fuzzy book about feelings, with Neo at the helm. It is not hard to be kind in so many ways. We can be kind to family, to friends, and even to those around our community. Helping the earth is another way to be kind. However, thew greatest kindness we can offer is to do something from the heart, surprising others as we act. Neo was able to see how easy an act of kindness can be and how far it goes. Choose the high road and be kind, even when others choose not to be. A quick read with some great lessons embedded into these easy to comprehend sentences.
A little girl shares ways that she is kind to her family, friends, and strangers.
This is attractively illustrated and includes quite a number of different examples of being kind, some of which take a lot of planning and others which are quite simple. The end challenges readers to think of three ways they can be kind. I like that the book shared one instance of how it was hard to be kind. A good read for littles to think through ways to show kindness and how that effects others, and would be a good conversation starter.
I love this book because it shows many examples of showing kindness to others. As I was reading this book, I was thinking I would end the book by asking the students how they could show others kindness, and the book actually ends with the page saying "How can you be kind? Can you think of three examples?" So the author was ahead of me!
This is a sweet story book that contains many examples of how a young child can be kind. My first grade class enjoyed it. It is a good read aloud and has enough examples that you can actually have a discussion.
What bothered my son was who was the extra person in the end. We matched all the characters and assumed it could be the dad. My son thought so by matching the skin tones. We don't want to teach race, kids apply geometry's shape size colour sorting.
Great book for discussing kindness and how one can promote it daily; Illustrations are colorful and fun. Kids will enjoy this one. Highly recommended for Grades K-1.
A story of a young girl who decides to do something kind for others after she sees her mother, and others setting the example of being kind to strangers, and neighbors alike.
Concrete examples of how to be kind in the community and school. Especially liked parts about welcoming children who are new to the school and neighborhood.
Julianna read this book to me tonight after 1st day of summer camp. We liked this book. She gives it 5 stars. I agree. I will look fotore books by this author.
2.5 stars. Well intentioned and has simple illustrations. If only the kindness examples were focused on small things that little ones could easily relate to instead of big projects like landscaping for the local community centre.
Simple perhaps, but I appreciated that kindness here is extended to the earth and to other creatures, not just people. I also appreciated the diversity of the kids.
This was such a cute story! It was all about being kind to people and different ways the main character was kind! It’s a reader book, so it’s be perfect for your early readers.
I enjoyed this book a lot, and hope my kids will pick this book up again in the future!
