Afterlife Calls #2

The Mummy's Curse

Rate this book
Ghosts are one thing, but mummies?

As if Niamh didn’t have enough to worry about already, now she has to contend with more ghosts, hormonal teenagers, and a mummy who’s just woken up from a 4000-year coma.

When close friends fall into similar comas, she and her daughter Edie must race against time to find out who’s behind it – and stop their friends from sleeping for millennia, too.

Is their condition related to their new mummy friend? Or could it really be just a coincidence?

Find out in the second instalment of mother-daughter paranormal mystery series, Afterlife Calls.

It's a little bit scary, slightly spooky, and seriously sarcastic. Perfect for fans of Charmed, Ghost Whisperer, and Lost Girl. If you’re looking for a story about family, romance, and life after death, this is the series for you.

I am completely enjoying this series!
A mummy, a blood curse, poltergeist and ghosts. Niahm and Edie have one problem after another and the clock seems to be running out. I did not want to put this down!! Great storyline and characters. I can't wait for more!!!

I had some debate with myself about whether I would read the second book in the Afterlife Calls series, and in the end curiosity got the better of me, but I have to admit that this will be the end of my journey with these characters.
Once again, there were errors in the book which couldn't be ignored (Ben wearing black sneakers, black Converse, green sneakers - all in the same scene and over a couple of pages) In some instances the incorrect word has been used in sentences, drawing the reader out of the story and creating some annoyance.
The relationships seems more muddled in this second book - almost to the point where it seemed that Edie was the adult and Niamh the teenager - I got quite frustrated with Niamh because of all her 'poor me' whining about her powers not being as strong as Edie's, and her mum being such a pain and she likes Ben but he likes Jaya - quite frankly she needed a good slap around the face by about half way through the book.
The 'spells' they cast seemed quite childish - four line rhyming which had me rolling my eyes. Also, the 'fiddlesticks' and 'frazzles' Edie and Niamh used instead of a good old swear word made it seem more like I was reading an Enid Blyton novel than a modern tale.
There was no real ending to the story, it just kind of petered out with a shaky lead in to the third book in the series. Unfortunately, due to the abovementioned issues, I have no interest in following through with the story because I really felt that by the end, I just wasn't connected enough to the characters to particularly care what happens to them in the future. Probably worth a 2 1/2 star score, but no more, which is sad to say because I think the writer does reveal some writing talent, but seemed to have gotten bogged down with pacing and an overabundance of angst this time.

I was given a free copy of this book in return for an honest review.

After exorcising a demon from a family friend’s daughter, life has settled into a modicum of normal for Edie and her mother Niamh. Edie’s finally dating her best friend Josh, and things are perfect between the. Niamh is fighting feelings for her new friend Ben, and she’s still dealing with the after effects of an influx of ghosts in the town. Things are great… until an Egyptian mummy is reanimated and Josh and his mother fall into a supernatural coma.

It’s a race against time for Niamh and Edie to figure out what’s going on with their friends before anything worse happens. With the mummy’s help, they begin to unravel the mysteries surrounding the haunting activities around town. But strange things begin to happen with Niamh’s powers, and Edie’s powers are growing strongly. Will Josh and Maggie survive being cursed? Or are things more complicated than they think?

The Mummy’s Curse is a great continuation of the Afterlife Calls Series. As we delve deeper into this universe, we learn more about Niamh and Edie. We begin to explore Niamh’s antagonistic relationship with her mother, and there are plenty of secrets between them. There are more ghosts, a new supernatural character in the form of an Egyptian mummy, poltergeists, and so much more.

If you enjoyed the first book, this is a book you must read. A maze of twists and turns culminates in a shocking conclusion that will make you want to find out more. With great characters, a compelling plot, and supernatural ghosties and ghoulies, this fun book will draw you in and make you want to keep turning the page until you’re done. An excellent sequel to The Ghost’s Call that will have you laughing and jumping up and down to find out more.

“The Mummy Case” is the second instalment in the “Afterlife Calls” series by K.C. Adams, a light reading mix of urban fantasy and cozy paranormal mystery, whose MC is a mother-daughter duo intended in resolving the mystery at hand.

This is the kind of mystery you would love to enjoy relaxing on a late afternoon/early evening with a nice cup of tea. It’s nice, it’s cozy and offers the kind of entertainment that fans of ‘Charmed’ and ‘Ghost Whisperer’ are looking for. The story features a mummy just awaken from a 4.000 coma-like sleep, who seems to be inducing similar comas in Niahm & Edie’s friends. If they ever want to have their friends back before a couple of millennia have gone by, Niahm and Edie will have the one responsible and break the curse once and for all.

Cozy, mysterious, magical, scary-lite, nice a spooky, the perfect autumnal cozy paranormal mystery to celebrate the season.

I read this story as an Arc and I am so glad got to read more of Edie and Niamh’s adventure to save their two friends Maggie and Josh that are put into mysterious comas. Time is not on their side as Maggie’s husband gives them a time limit to figure out what is causing the comas.

Niamh enlists the help of her friend Ben that may or may not have deeper feelings for her but you have to read to find out where their relationship is headed. Edie is continuing to work on figuring out her new powers while Niamh is figuring out what happened to her powers through her dead ex-husband and mothers ghosts. I can’t wait to read what happens in their next story and their relationships with those around them.

I have been eagerly waiting for this second book in the Afterlife Calls series and Kristina Adams has delivered again. A brilliant sequel to The Ghosts Call. I thoroughly enjoy reading all her books and this is my new favourite series. The Mummy's Curse is a well written and researched book which sucks you into the supernatural world of Niamh and Edie. As with the first book the story is told from two prospective which gives so much more depth to the characters and story. I would recommend this book and series to anyone who loves to lose themselves in a story. As with all of Kristina Adams books I couldn't put it down and now I cannot wait for the next installment! Roll on book 3!!

Dealing with the Curse . . .

Having an Egyptian mummy wake up in the school was not the intention for that exhibit. And when the mummy awoke, Niamh and Edie’s friends, Maggie and Josh, fell into similar magically-induced comas. Can Niamh and Edie find out what’s happening to their friends to prevent something worse?

As the mummy helps them, they begin to unravel the mysteries of the ghost situation around town. But now when they need their powers the most, strange things are happening, making Niamh’s powers unreliable as Edie’s powers are growing. Can Josh and Maggie survive being victims of this curse? Or is something else still going on?

MUST READ SERIES!!!! This is the second book in what is a page turner series that I couldn’t put down! The story continues with formerly retired ghost hunter mother, Niamh, and her daughter Edie as they deal with a 4,000 year old Egyptian mummy that wakes up and has to learn about living in the time he has found himself in. Not only are they helping the mummy but they are dealing with dozens of ghosts haunting their quaint hometown as well as their close friends falling under a curse! Whew! Non-stop action against the clock! I’m hooked on this series and you will be as well!

The Mummy's Curse is a follow up book to The Ghosts Call.
I throughly enjoyed reading this book and getting to know about Niamh and Edie. The book kept me enthralled from the time I opened it until the end. Edie comes into her own and discovers things about herself she didn't know before. Niamh also has to confront parts of her past and navigate a possible new romance.

I can't wait for the next book.

Adams manages to create such wonderfully cosy world that the day after finishing this book, I'm already craving it and wishing I had more to read. Her characters are unique and I already feel like I know them so well, even if this is only book two. The continuation of the story is seamless and exciting, making me look forward to book three even more. Can't wait!

Another great book from Kristina! I loved The Ghosts Call so I couldn't wait to read the second one and, once again, loved it! Similarly to The Ghosts Call I really enjoyed experiencing the story from both Niamh and Edie's perspectives and thought this was a well done continuation of a unique ghost hunting series. I can't wait for the next one!

Niamh and Edie are trying to save friends from a mummy’s curse. Unfortunately, Niamh’s powers have gone a bit sideways. Can the ladies save their friends and eventually the town from this sudden influx of ghosts in the town? Can the two of them work together and work things out? Find out in this terrific book! I received an ARC and this is my honest opinion.

Tragic

Beautiful, yet fast paced. You must understand that the writing style is completely unlike American English, before judging the story.

Great story line. Easy to like characters.

First time you see that good doesn't ALWAYS win!

Nice one

Just as good as the last one, very intriguing. So many question and a few answers. Hope Ben does not fall prey to the evil which is happening.

Honestly the mom is annoyingly predictable in her self sabotage but it’s still a good fast read
