GODZILLA: History of Formative Arts 1954-2016

Rate this book
The ultimate book of Godzilla showcasing a massive archive of rare material with a stunningly beautifully design. From its first cinematic release as Godzilla in 1954 to its latest incarnation as Shin Godzilla in 2016, this book offers a massive collection of rare, never-before-seen still photos from the movies and behind-the-scenes studio snapshots in chronological order (excluding the Hollywood series). Bilingual (Jaoanese and English) explanatory text is included in each chapter to guide readers in understanding the history of Godzilla episode by episode. The sophisticated design by the creators of many of PIE International’s Japanese art books (including Wagashi , Hell in Japanese Art and others) makes this book not only gorgeous but also the ultimate must-have collector’s item for hardcore Godzilla fans.

Do you like looking at pictures of Godzilla? If so, this is the book for you! Very little text, just page after page of pics from the original movie through Shin Gidzilla, most of them focusing on the Big G himself, including a good number of behind-the-scenes type photos and publicity stills. In a few cases I would have liked some captions to tell me what exactly I was looking at, but most of the photos are self-explanatory.

A fantastic collection of behind the scenes and production photos as well movie stills from the Toho Godzilla movies running from the original 1954 movie through Shin Godzilla. A must have for fans of the franchise.
