Ellender York has nightmares . . . and everything she dreams is real.
Two years after a split-second decision on a dark rural road results in tragedy, Ellender is ready to start over. Not everyone thinks she should be allowed to. Someone wants retribution and will stop at nothing to make her pay.
Attorney Grace Reagan is one month away from maternity leave, and happy to have an intriguing, if odd, case to take her mind off her personal life. She’s having a longed-for baby with a man she can’t stand, and she’s in love with a man she’s afraid of losing. Ellender’s story is a welcome distraction . . . until it starts to unravel.
Is Grace’s new client a victim or a liar? And what happens when a killer emerges from the shadows of Ellender’s dreams?
Come back to the Eastern Shore side of the Chesapeake Bay for another round of small town murder and mystery in the Land of Pleasant Living!
Cheril Thomas is the author of the Eastern Shore Mysteries series. She is also the co-author of a mystery novel, Whispers, and is a published short fiction author. When she's not writing at home in Easton, Maryland, she's traveling with her long-suffering husband, an otherwise brilliant soul who doesn't seem to mind being married to a woman who researches methods of murder. Together, they live to serve Gracie the Wonder Dog, a too-smart-for-her-own-good shaggy black Goldendoodle.
Grace and Sweet Pea are n their 3rd trimester! Does that keep Grace out of trouble? Absolutely not. David is still a creep and trying to control everything! No worries, Grace knows how to handle him. Delaney House is rolling with guests and actually turning a profit! You get to meet the latest villains which include the new new Chief of Police. As always this is a good mystery.
This chick is clever but she needs to kick the AH, David, to the curb once and for all. It irritates me to watch the sniveling little toad work his manipulation on her and everyone else. We’ve all had a David in our lives at some point so start at book 1 of this grand series and see if you can figure out where, when, and how you finally disposed of your David. Good luck.
These boots were very different. I'm used to the softer, cozy stories. There are 4 books in this series. I didn't like the titles of the books. The characters were ok,but the stories were too violent for me. You might enjoy them. Always have a good time reading !
What a wild tale. Grace is growing and learning all while nurturing a new life. Little towns hide big secrets and uncovering those secrets can be dangerous. This mystery definitely keeps you guessing and although this is a continuing saga, it can be read as a stand alone story.
A complex cozy mystery with engaging characters. I enjoyed reading about the personal lives and interactions involved in the story very much and will be reading all the books in this series as a result.
I really liked this series even though the stories were a bit darker and the actual murders were a relatively small part of the story. I did notice that, in between books 3 and 4 the outlook for the baby changed rather dramatically. 😏
