From USA Today bestselling author Dakota Davies comes a small town family saga of second chances with all the feels!
A small-town bad boy hiding a secret. A city girl with a brave goal. The pact that will ruin them both.
No way am I going to Stanford a virgin.
On prom night two months ago, I had everything ready: condoms, check. Lube, check. Sexy lingerie under my dress, check. After four months of working up my nerve, I was going to finally shed my v-card. The problem? My date dumped me for someone else.
I vow this summer I’ll be different. I’ll be that daring girl that has a summer fling without a care in the world. I’ll find some hot, outdoorsy guy who can show me what I’ve been missing. And when summer ends, I’ll blow him a kiss and walk into my big, bright future with my heart intact.
Enter dirty-talking raft guide Caleb Morgan, a perfect target for my lust. But one (incredible) night becomes two, then four...and pretty soon I’m falling. Hard.
Can I save myself before it’s too late?

4.5 stars - I previously read this as part of the Happily Ever Box Set. I liked it then but didn't love it (I gave it 3.5 ⭐). Since then, Davies has gone and updated it. Here are my two cents:
Lori and nature seem to have a love / hate relationship. She nearly freezes, she swells like a balloon from stings, and has an allergic reaction to hay. Yeah, nature is definitely winning that battle. Hehehe. Even so, she doesn't let it stop her. She's on a mission this summer - to be adventurous - and lets nothing prevent her from her goal.
Her fling with Caleb is full of angst. One minute my heart was soaring and the next it was breaking. The refresh of this story was all good, bringing on the feels in a major way! I was looking forward to the next book but now I'm REALLY looking forward to it.
And in the dark recesses on my mind, I have a voodoo doll for Del. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

This is my initial review from 12/19/20 so you can see just how my thoughts have changed after the rewrites:
I liked Caleb and Lori's introduction and I am looking forward to seeing where things go. They each listen and support each other in ways no-one else ever has. They are sweet and steamy together.
Even though this wasn't my favorite story from Davies, I enjoyed it all the same. The ending (really it's more of a cliffhanger as this is a prequel) was a bit predictable but how it plays out in the next book will be the test.
This is the first book in an anthology of twenty one romances. This is a coming of age romance where a young girl is determined to lose her virginity on prom night. She's prepared with the essentials but the only problem is her date abandons her for another girl. When another prospect appears she's determined to guard her heart and keep it simple and one night. Their chemistry is off the charts and one night becomes more and more. This was a cute romance that I read as an advance copy via Booksprout and voluntarily chose to review.
With each book that I read from Dakota Davies, I become so drawn in! This is a great new series and the characters are wonderful. This is the story of Caleb and Lori. Caleb and Lori had a wonderful summer together 6 years ago. Caleb brought out the adventurous side of Lori. Caleb is a firefighter in Penny Creek and raising his 5-year-old son with the help of his family. Lori is a student who is trying to save the wolves. Caleb broke things off with Lori when he found out he was going to be a father. Lori did not understand why he broke up with her so suddenly, and she was heartbroken. She returns to help save the wolves and ends up running into Caleb. The chemistry between those two could instantly start a fire.
This story has our characters facing their fears, overcoming obstacles, drama, deception, passion, danger and love. Great story, great characters and I cannot wait to read more in this series. I can’t wait to see what happens with the rest of Caleb’s family. I received a free copy of this book via Hidden Gems ARC’s and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This book brings us Caleb, Annika (his sister and Lori's friend), and Lori. Caleb and Lori meet at a summer camp are are instantly drawn to each other. Annika warns Lori that Caleb only uses women, but that is not the case with Lori. They agree to have a summer fling, no feelings involved, and just enjoy each other. Well, that doesn't go as planned. Feelings become involved and the closer it comes to the end of the summer, they are both conflicted as to what to do. They both have feelings for one another and agree to try long term. However, there is a twist at the end, and can't wait for the next book to find out what happens. This was an amazing read and I highly recommend it. I did receive an arc for an honest review.
First of all... This is one of the most intense prequels I read so far. I was not able to stop reading. The plot is great, the characters amazing! Too many feelings during all the story. I loved the way the author developed the drama and keep you reading. I loved Caleb and Lori. They deserve to be together. But they will have to fight for their love against a lot of people and situations. I can’t wait to read the next book. Highly recommended.

This is the first book I've read by Dakota Davies. I LOVED IT! I was so drawn to the storyline and characters. I couldn't put it down. It was heartwarming, but with real struggles. At times my heart broke. And the cliffhanger.... Nooooo. Why didn't I see this coming? Athough the timing doesn't seem quit right? But no spoilers here. I cannot wait for the continuation of Caleb and Lori's story! Will definitely be stalking this author.

I enjoyed reading the first book in this series, Falling for my Fling. It’s about this summer fling between two meeting for the first time or will it be more? It’s her first time while he has had many flings. They agree that this is all it will be. At the end of the summer, they will both go off to college in different states. Takes place in the beautiful mountains with lots of great water sports. Of course, now I can’t wait to read the next part.

Not expecting to like a Prequel so much! I really enjoyed this book! I didn't realize that it ended in a cliffhanger, though, and it's unexpected. This book takes you on an emotional journey of "first times" and it pulled me in right from the start. The drama and the writing made me fall in love with Caleb and Lori. I can't wait to read the final book and see what happens next! This is my honest and voluntary review.
This is a fantastic story about a hot summer fling. Lori is looking for adventure before going off to college. Caleb is working as a guide at camp and sets his eyes on the new girl. Neither is looking for love, just a good time.

I absolutely loved this prequel novel!!! I was hooked from start to finish with Caleb & Lori’s love story. This book has a little bit of everything which will make not be able to put the book down. The storyline was great and makes you fall for these character. Such a great read.
This was so great! You would have thought this was a completely different story from the other 'Falling for My Fling' because of the number of pages, but nope! I haven't gone and read the other one yet, but I think it's 200+ pages too, so Lori and Caleb's story is actually a total of 400+ pages?
I loved the two so much, and the reason I came to read this was because a review from Falling for My Fling mentioned that it would be best to read this first because Lori and Caleb have tons of history, so yeah, here I am! I'm pretty sure I'm going to love the next book, and I'm looking forward to see how they address the conflicts and everything mentioned here.
This is a YA romance. Lori had prom planned out and then her date cancelled. So next best thing the rafting guide Caleb. Caleb is out for a summer fling also. They hook up but a one time hook-up does not seem like enough for either of them. This is a wonderful romance and the characters are believable and they each bring something and the chemistry is there. I enjoyed the book. I will be reading the rest of the series.

Lori and Caleb had an instant spark which made for a great story. The storyline was very believable and I could easily ‘hear’ and picture both of the main characters. I really enjoyed the setting of this book too. As you would expect, they didn’t have a straight forward romance but there was plenty going on to keep the book interesting. I can’t wait to read the next book now that I have read this prequel.
This is a great adventure. It has small town drama and charm, but also has two people falling in love with each other. I loved that it took place in a mountain setting, because the characters were able to go out into the mountains and find peace and solitude. The characters are well written and developed. If you are from a small town than you will be able to relate to the characters. If you love small town romances than you should read this series.
Ok I admit I read this in the wrong order... I had to go back and read their backstory!! Caleb and Lori are crazy about each other. Young love!! He fell for her hard, but wouldn't admit it to himself. And of course, Delaney happened!! This makes Falling for my fling so much more clear!! Can't wait to move on to Wyatt's story!!
What do you do when your plan to lose your virginity go wrong. You have a yes girl summer. Lori sets out to have an adventurous summer and lose her virginity along the way. But what happens when you want your fling to be permanent… Well you and I will have to read the next book as this one left us on a cliffhanger 🥰😂
This was such a good story with all the bells and whistles. My heart broke for Lori, and I was rooting for a HEA, but I guess I Caleb had to make a choice between love and his unborn child... I can't wait to see what the second book in the life of Lori and Caleb will bring. Loved every minute and every twisting this story.
Man there was a lot sex in this one. Aside from that it was a cute read. However I am not sure if this one leaves me wanting to read the next book. There were good cute moments in this but unfortunately I didn't have a connection to either main Character. I wasn't pulled into the storyline as I wanted.
Cute beach read. Small town romance…good girl and the bad boy make an arrangement for a pretend relationship. We all know how those end. Ok story, although a bit predictable. I accepted a complimentary copy of this book from Booksprout in exchange for an honest review.
This was a spicy small town romance between a small-town bad boy & a brave city girl who spend a summer together while she’s in town for camp. Will they end the summer together or go their seperate ways?
