Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Trope: Second chance romance
Angst: 😰😰😰😰
Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥🔥

I FLOVED this story. I seriously loved it. Renee has outdone herself with a fabulous story and left us with characters we'll never forget. Jester is the second book in the Master's of Mayhem series and takes place in post, second Civil War US after a virus wipes out much of the population and parts of the country remain lawless - with complete anarchy staved off only by gangs. Jester is a member of the Unholy, the ruthless gang that controls Mayhem, PA. Back in high school, he betrayed the love of his life, Faith, in order to push her out of town and toward her own, brighter future, away from Mayhem, breaking both their hearts in the process.

I really cannot say enough about this story and these characters! Jester was fast paced with TONS of action. The world building is fantastic. Completely believable post-war/post-virus storyline. The characters and character development is phenomenal. Jester's antics had you literally laughing out loud and his internal (and external) dialogue was the best. Jester is kind of a rarity for alpha heroes. He wears his heart on his sleeve believing life is too short not to throw it all out there. He's the prankster. The @ssh0le. He's always running his mouth and driving his friends crazy... but he'd put his life on the line for them in a second. And once Faith walks back in his life, he's never letting her go again... whether she agrees to it or not, lol. Faith is awesome. She's tough as nails. She's been raised with all the boys of Mayhem and Jester's betrayal cut her super deep, made worse by the fact that she lost all of them. Seven years later she's coming home because it's time. Time to stop feeling like she was hiding from Jester and take her life back in the place that feels like home.

I'm not usually a fan of second chance romances because of the hurt caused by an initial breakup because of ALL. THE. ANGST, lol. But this one was sooooo worth it. These characters... I know I keep saying it, but they were the BEST. Seriously great story and I'm SUPER excited about the next book!

“We’re an inferno, and we’re going to set this whole fucking town on fire.”

5 stars!

Renee Rocco blew me away with the first book in this series, and she’s followed it up brilliantly with a raw, gritty story with fantastic characters, laugh-out-loud dark humour, and a gorgeously emotional second-chance-romance. I was captivated from start to finish, and I absolutely loved it!

Jester was a complete scene-stealer in the last book, and I was so excited to read more about him. Set in a post-second-civil-war US, where gangs have risen to power, Jester and his best friends belong to one of the most brutal – the Unholy, a gang that rules Mayhem, a small town that runs on debauchery with the belief that you should be free to be you without shame or persecution. The Unholy is the law though, keeping the town safe and protecting its citizens, and going to any lengths to do so.

As his name would suggest, Jester is the clown of the group. His unabashed love of his darkly dangerous life, lack of filter and sarcastic wit make him a hilarious member of the Unholy, and though he feels deeply, he is always the one running his mouth, teasing his friends, and living wild and without consequence. And God, I love him!

The outside world is way too serious.
Someone needs to be the clown.
It might as well be me since I’m so damn good at it.

Faith was born in Mayhem, but left to attend College. Feisty and bold, she grew up with the Unholy boys, and she and Jester (then known as Luke) were madly in love. They were the golden couple of their high school, and they felt more for each other than even they could comprehend, but it ended badly when Jester broke her heart. He did it intentionally, knowing she needed a clean break from him and the town, and he broke his own heart in the process. Faith has been away for seven years, and she has missed her home town; it’s still very much a part of her, so she’s moved back, even though she knows it means she will inevitably run into the man she has spent seven years hating.

I’m not a chicken shit. Nor am I the same broken teenager who limped out of Mayhem with her tail between her legs. I grew into this bitch, and he better recognize who the hell he’s playing with real quick, because one thing is for damn sure, this town is too small for us to be at war.
Although Main Street would look lovely decorated with his intestines.
I’m just saying…

Jester and Faith’s reunion is explosive. There is SO much emotion between them, and you just know you’re in for an epic adventure with these two as Faith lets her anger loose, and Jester – in his own unique style - decides that now is the time to finally win back the woman he’s never been able to get over.

I should let it go. Let her go. I shouldn’t care if she’s come home. Faith isn’t my business.
Oh yeah? Then why am I taking her rejection as a challenge.
Oh, right, because I’m an asshole.
Game on.

They have a sensational dynamic, and it’s so damn entertaining watching them go back and forth. Jester is full of remorse for hurting Faith, but he’s not about to let their past get in the way of winning her back, and he goes all out to get his girl. Faith is so hurt by their past, but soon finds herself wrestling with her memories of the boy Jester was with her growing feelings for the man that he has now become. She works through it sensibly and realistically, with Jester pursuing her openly and relentlessly, and their chemistry sizzles, with every encounter building the sexual tension brilliantly.

We were an awesome couple when we were teenagers, until he ruined it. The adult versions? Not a good idea. He’s too…Jester. I’m too…Faith. Together we make for an explosive, if not toxic, combination of anger and sarcasm. We’ll destroy each other. “You need to let me go.”
“I let you go once.” His tender kiss on my forehead tears me apart. “Never again.”

“I’ve owned you since our first kiss…” His lips brush across mine. “And I’ll tell you a secret.” He cups my core, and I swallow a sigh as my body begs for him. “You own me, too.”

When Faith becomes a target for the Unholy’s enemies, the two of them are drawn together as Jester goes all out to protect his girl, and things start to change, and watching these two find their way back to each other is so beautiful! Jester is sweet and caring, and the way he puts himself completely out there in his efforts to win Faith back is just gorgeous. Their feelings for each other are intense, and I loved how honest they are with each other! Their love story is amazing and I loved every moment as they reconnected

“You’ll break my heart again.”
Jester releases my hands, and on instinct, I wrap them around him and hold him as if he’s an anchor and I’m lost on a raging sea. He hugs me close and whispers in my ear, “Never again, Faith. I swear it on my fucking life. Never again.”

It’s no surprise that Jester the joker is all alpha male in the bedroom, but he’s also got a huge, beautiful, romantic heart. Their reunion is steamy and emotional, and the two of them together have this feeling of absolute rightness. Their moments together are sweet, fun and natural, they both give as good as they get, and they are a powerhouse!

“You know I never stopped loving you, right?”

But with life in the Unholy, danger is never far away, and the club’s hunt for a drug dealer disseminating in their town will bring the threat right to their door. And right when they’ve found each other again, they could lose it all.

I loved this book. It’s dark and gritty, with a touch of danger which brings tension and excitement, but mostly, it’s a gorgeous love story between two incredible characters. I fell in instant love with both Jester and Faith, and I adored them together so much.

We get to see the rest of the Unholy boys, and they are such a great bunch! There are hints dropped for Havoc’s book up next, and I am so looking forward to that one.

I’m loving this series, and absolutely loved this one – 5 stars!

An ok read

Skimmed through a lot of the internal dialogue because there were a lot of them. I liked some of the characters, though I wasn't invested in them. Not enough background? Also, H needed to grovel much harder. So did her bestfriend (a guy). I get that you do stupid stuff when you're a teenager. But betrayal is betrayal. You need to earn trust back. And I didn't see that. I was just told that he did earn it.

Now that I think of it, I don't really like any of the characters. Not enough to pick up another book in the series. Moving on.

This follows Faith and Jester. In high school they were close but he broke her heart. It's 7 years later and she has returned to Mayhem and I'm determined not to make the same mistake I did many years ago. The problem is Faith hates me but I also need to protect her at all costs as she managed to get involved in a serious rival matter.

This book is good. I loved Wraith and Jamie's story from the first book of this series where we meet Jester so I was hyped for this second installment. To be honest, I struggled with this book. I don't feel a strong connection between Jester and Faith as I did with Wraith and Jamie. I think this is a personal thing due to my preference as I prefer damsel in distress. But Faith and Jester we're both strong characters. Jester being the crew's clown was interesting also as I'm all for grump and morally grey. The nicknames were not for me either, I struggle with it in general so another personal preference and lastly, for me, the ending seemed rushed. I appreciate the Diabetes rep in this book and the author's note on it was so touching.
I still enjoyed this book but Wraith's book is top for me Havoc might take that spot very soon.

Rene has once again brought literacy genius with Jester. It is an amazing read. The main character is full of loyalty, funny wit and is a remarkable match for Faith the love of his life. Faith and Jester are full of loving banter and her kick a$$ attitude makes this an awesome read. It's also sweet and spicey and of course there's a little dark too. It's amazing and I highly recommend.

Renee has once again written a phenomenal book in this series! Jester and Faith’s story is so beautiful. I love how even though Jester is the comedian, he is real with Faith and you don’t have to wait a long time to see them get back together.
The way all the characters that are going to be in the future books within the series are bought to life makes it so exciting to read what is to come!

We followed Wraiths journey home in book one, and Jester being his best friend was a big part of that. So I was happy to read more about him!

Naturally when Jester (or luke as he was known as then) in school, he was the king, and his queen was Faith. They'd been together for a couple of years, but faith was being sent by her mum to a posh school a few towns over in Brighton. Jester does something to make sure Faith goes and not have any regrets...

Seven years later both of them are still hurting because of it, even though it came from a genuine place. But now, Jester is an enforcer in the Unholy, and Faith has just returned home to Mayhem from Brighton, for good to live.

Jester is determined to win Faith back. He's never stopped loving her, and won't give up. He believes she still loves her too and sets about wearing her down.

It's bad timing, but a new lethal drug, onyx, is suddenly having an influx in Mayhem and the Unholy are having trouble finding the dealers and maker. Each dealer they catch refuse to speak, and two more replace that one.
Crow asks Faith to see if any of her friends know of anything and she happily agrees, not seeing a problem.

Faith is a relatable character! She is determined to hold on to the hatred for Jester, especially on the outside - mainly because that's what she thinks others think she should be feeling. But really, she doesn't. And hasn't for a long time. The relationship with her mother is familiar and watching her battle with herself between letting her comments wash over her or to say something - which is then always belittled -  is heartbreaking. She can't win.

But when she's with Jester...it's literally like the clouds disappear and the sun comes out!

Jester idolises Faith. And one of his best redeeming qualities is he's not afraid to show it. Anywhere, anytime. He really does love with his whole heart and if you're lucky to be granted a pass to his heart, a better friend (or in Faith's case, boyfriend!)you won't find. Even if he's a big bad enforcer...

Onyx is still sneaking in the town, until they receive the news they'd been waiting for...
Now....can everyone get thru this in one piece?

So, I'm straight up in love with Jester. And yes, I know I said this about Wrairh but this is different! Jester is tough but soft, mischievous yet a stone cold killer, loyal, wears his heart on his sleeve, his morality meter is perfectly balanced, and while he has gentlemanly manners in public, in private it a very different matter!

This series is addictive. Its written exceptionally well, the storyline is well thought out and paced well. The characters were likeable, loveable, relatable or a love-to-hate, each one written to elicit feelings.

I can't wait for the next one!!!!

I knew within 10 minutes that Jester was literally written for me! I love an unapologetic asshole psycho path and Jester was the definition of an unapologetic asshole and I’m so in love. Him and faith are going to burn the world down and laugh the entire time it turns to ash! Those two are so meant to be, they’re psychos who fight hard for love. I love the brotherhood of the unholy and that the tribe that the women now have , they are so protective of their families and would fight to the death for them! This has amazing spice and so much angst between faith and jester! Jester is hilarious in the most twisted way but also loves Faith in the most fierce way he is so intense and powerful and to be loved by him is something really special. This book was unbelievable I don’t know how I’ll
Move on 🖤

Welcome back to Mayhem.

Seven years ago Faith’s heart was broken when she finds her boyfriend Luke with another girl. Now she’s back in Mayhem and now she can’t avoid Luke now an Unholy named Jester.

This is a good dark romance. It has plot and spice. I love all the personality of all the characters including the side characters. Everyone blends in together and you can really see the friendship.

My only problem is that I feel like Faith forgave Jester for what he did super quick. It was like one second she hated him and then the next she was saying I love you. I think there needed to be more work from Jester on fixing it.

Allow me to summarize my thoughts on Jester with a few quotes from the book:

"A hero will sacrifice the person they love to save the world, but a villain will sacrifice the world to save the person they love."

"I crave the villain."

"Also, villains are more fun."

Now go read it.

This is another great story by Renee Rocco of the Masters of Mayhem .

The story of Faith and Jester is filled with roller coaster of emotions between the two people who got a second chance of being united again after seven years.

Mayhem brothers stick together and protect what’s theirs, the little town and their loved ones.

This is an amazing read and would highly recommend it!

I was so lucky to get to read this book a little before its release. I loved Renee Rocco's first book in this series so much. And Jester didn't let me down. You get to meet him in Wraith's story so I already new that I loved him. He has such a great heart but still a major bad*ss. And he is all in with Faith and he will do anything for her and to protect her.
Faith is an amazing heroine. She kind of took me by surprise. She has some sass and spice but not in a negative way. I was so proud of her. I like the twist with her health and how that all weaves into the story. I just couldn't set it down.
And now I can't wait to read the next in the series.
I think Jester could be read as a stand alone. But you have time if you want to read Wraith before this releases. Wraith is a bit darker to me than Jester. But both are 5 *****

First of all, I'd like to thank the writer for spending her time writing this book. I can see many people loved it, and honestly, the 4.2 stars given made it more credible and convincing to give it a shot.

When I initially started looking for a book to read, I found DOZENS of them. I have a very peculiar taste, so I'm picky about what I read (I like an asshole MC in books, not in real life though).

There is so much to talk about, so bear with me.
For starters let me talk about the things that made this book appealing to me:
a) My own personal interests match the book's description (I wanted an alpha kind of vibe).
b) The ratings

I started reading the book bracing myself for the worst. I was HOPING for the worst since this is what the description implied: a twisted, ruthless MC who "makes being a criminal fun". This is not true. Throughout the entire book, he does nothing "ruthless" except sleeping with his girlfriend.
This entire book revolves around this one thing: his desire for Faith and how he got her back after making the totally unnecessary mistake of getting a blowjob in front of her a few days before she left the town.

I need to pause right that and discuss the writing style of this book: it's very VERY contemporary. Words such as "amirite" and "LOL" were present in the book... I'm not sure what to say about this to be honest.
I mean, yes, it was very easy to read, but to be honest I found it plotless. The main characters are just... snarky... and stupid... and to be fair I can't even compare them to teenagers because I have come across more mature teenagers than these young adults.

There are quite a few sex scenes. I wasn't bothered by them. Wasn't my main issue.
The writing, the plot, and the baseless almost null character development were.
As harsh as it can sound, I count it as a good book to read when I have absolutely no other books to read, and also when I want something easy that will not make me think too much, or predict too much.

On the other hand, I want to talk about the ending which was very rushed. It could have been written differently. A drug lord may have a much bigger purpose to kill someone than just get back at them (for breaking his son's jaw), and then die stupidly just like that.

All characters could have been written in a MUCH better manner. They could have been developed and could have had more substance to them. The plot could have been written better... The main girl... could've... I don't even know. I don't even know why it got such high ratings. Sorry. It's not the best book out there. There are better books to read in the same genre under Wattpad.

Jester • Book 2 - Masters of Mayhem
*ARC Review*
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
@reneeroccoauthor

I fell in LOVE with Jester in book one— I’m a sucker for the goofy, jokester best friend so I’ve been waiting for this book! As expected, it did not disappoint. I’m gonna need to get me a Jester…like yesterday. (Just don’t tell my husband) 😉 Faith is the badass heroine that we all wish we could be. Their love story is so perfectly imperfect. I’m looking forward to the next one…I think I have an idea of who will be the next Unholy to fall in love.. 🤔

I read book one (Wraith) and then somehow skipped to book 3 (Havoc). Once I read Havoc, I knew I would have to go back and see what I missed. I am so glad I did as some of what was going on in Havoc’s story is a continuation of Jester and Faith’s story. Luke (Jester) and Faith Decker were high school sweethearts until that one day that Faith was given the opportunity to leave Mayhem (wrong side of the tracks) and go to the posh neighborhood of Brighton. Luke broke Faith’s heart (he thought he was giving her a chance at becoming someone other than Mayhem trash) and since that day she has hated him since. Once Luke became an Unholy, his way of looking at things was to always be the clown and to make everyone else laugh, tease your friends mercilessly, and forget about those things they are going through. However, since the minute he broke Faith’s heart, he regrets that decision.

7 years later and Faith returns home to Mayhem, (involved in a scandal of her own) and all she wants to do is avoid Jester. However, the town is small and you are bound to run into each other. Of course, when Faith see’s Jester she’s reminded of that day he broke her heart and her disgust, hatred, attitude and sassiness comes out! The banter, the back and forth, anger, passion, remorse, emotions and draw between Jester and Faith is like no other. They were meant to be together and if Jester has any say about it, he will get his woman back!

You’ve got your drama, darkness, excitement, tension, bad boys (and girls!), and a new look at what a diabetic goes through. Faith is one strong, feisty, tough woman who has learned to deal with her condition and when push comes to shove, Jester is there for her and watches out for her like a hawk. The love between these two is sweet, hot and loyal. You might dislike Jester at first, but he is a straight shooter and tells it like it is. You will be in love with this man when all is said and done! This is a must-read series, you will not be disappointed!

I am voluntarily leaving a review.

“We’re an inferno, and we’re going to set this whole fucking town on fire.”

Renee Rocco has absolutely freakin nailed Book 2 in the Masters of Mayhem series. Jester was that captivating secondary character in Book 1 that I couldn't wait for his own story and oh boy the wait was worth every agonising second.
Set in Mayhem, Pennsylvania (Post-Civil War II), where gangs now have all the power, Jester and his best friends belong to the Unholy, the most brutal and feared gang of Mayhem.

This second chance romance story had me HOOKED and devouring every word from start to finish in one sitting. It's real, raw, dark, gritty, humorous, and both equally heartbreaking and heartwarming.
Jester and Faith were high school sweethearts, until they heartbreakingly and frustratingly weren't. And oh how I wanted to give Jester a love tap straight across his face during these moments (haha).

Fast forward seven years and the explosive reunion between these two is riddled with hate, angst, banter, emotion, regret, and a sprinkling of feisty foreplay.
I absolutely loved the dynamic between these two, even if the journey they took me on was a rollercoaster ride of epic proportions.
My heart broke for Faith but I loved that she returned to Mayhem with some fight and serious sass, determined to protect her heart against Jester once again. But seriously with a man like Jester did she really ever stand a chance?
This man is lethal for hearts and panties. He's humorous, charming, brutal, sweet, fun, a little romantic, and so determined to win back the heart of his one and only love, Faith.

I absolutely loved this dark, gritty, slightly suspenseful, and heart stealing story between two characters you won't be able to not love both individually and together.

And...
Damn all of the Unholy men are EPIC and I can't wait for their stories! Particularly Havoc, oh how I need his story like yesterday.

What a series! Highly Recommend.

Title: Jester
Author: Renee Rocco
Series: Masters of Mayhem #2
Rating: ☆☆☆☆/5

Renee Rocco left me wanting more when she wrote Wraith, book 1 in Masters of Mayhem. While Wraith is my favorite so far, she didn't hold back in this is gripping, raw, second chance romance filled with hilarious banter, raw, beautiful characters. From beginning to end, I was completely enthralled with Jester and Faith's story.

I got to meet Jester in the first book, Wraith and he really had me wanting to read more about him and who he was. It's post-apocalyptic, second civil war in the US and gangs are in power. Jester and his best friends are members of the Unholy, a gang that runs Mayhem. Mayhem is a small town where everyone is free to do what they want, when they want without fear of judgment or shame. Whatever the Unholy say is law and anyone who goes against or speaks out against the Unholy will personally be handled by its members.

Jester is everything you would imagine a gang member to be. He's badass, the clown of the group, dark and broody, fearless, no filter and sarcastic beyond reason make him a perfect member of the Unholy. While his loyalty for the Unholy runs deep and he lives without worry of the consequences, he feels more deeply than he let's on. Jester regrets how things ended with Faith and when she moves back to Mayhem, he'll do whatever it takes to win her back if she'll let him.

I really love this series and the guys in the Unholy. These books are action packed with danger always lurking around the corner. There's never a dull moment with this group of guys and while I love the dark and gritty of the gang life, it's nice to see a deeper side to the guys when it comes to their women and the lengths they'll go to protect those they love and care about. Enjoy this series and the craziness of the Masters of Mayhem!!!

Back when I started my bookstagram/book review journey earlier this year, I had the incredible fortune of connecting with the town of Mayhem, reading about Wraith's harrowing experience and meeting all his amazingly sexy and tragic brothers. Wraith's 5 star review was one of my first reviews and I was already begging for the next book. I needed Jester's story. Really, I need all their stories.

I was fortunate enough to receive an ARC of Jester from the author, in exchange for an honest review. And with this, my incredible fortune continues. Jester was an incredible read full of drama, passion, humor, sass - everything you could want - wrapped up in a second chance romance for the ages.

Jester is your asshole class clown with a heart of gold... well, if you're in his inner circle and family, at least. And to be honest, I loved him so much, every time he called himself an asshole (or was called as asshole (which was often lol)), I was thinking how much he's not an asshole.... clearly I'm bias.

Faith, our heroine, is an incredibly strong, smart, creative, no-nonsense woman - all the things you need to be to be able to handle a Mayhem man, it seems. Though, after having her heart broken by Jester in high school, she doesn't seem interested in handling him at all. At least, not on the surface.

But soul mates cannot be denied. Even when you want to smack them for being buttheads.

Rocco's world building and prose is incredible. This read is fast-paced and action-packed. The story is full and she leaves you wanting the next story and the next story and the next one after that. All the brothers need their own stories!

I had various issues with this book, let me sum it up for you:

Yes, the main love interest made and stupid choice in the past, was it necessary to do such performance? No. Was it immature? Of course, he was a teen. However, he was so easily forgiven. He did so little to gain her trust back.

She was all mouth, talked and talked about what a baddie she was and all she did to prove it was...scratch his car? I'm sorry, but that was lame.

Did we need to read them say CONSTANTLY that they together we're an inferno and blah blah blah? Absolutely not.

They talked about bodies, murders, etc, like it was nothing. Hard to believe. We barely get info about what was going on there, I know it's a saga and I skipped the previous book but still needs an explanation.

We know nothing about the characters so it's difficult to get attached to any of them. What are their motivations? Their flaws? Virtues? Fears? Even hobbies? Family? Personality? Literally anything? 😂 It's hard to immerse when both the character developement and worldbuilding are lacking.

The thing I liked was that the main character had diabetes, I've never read a book that talks about it, I know some think that it was mentioned so many times, but these matters need exposure.

Overall, not an enjoyable read for me.

After book one, I wasn't sure what to expect from this one. I was a bit afraid, to be honest 🙈 But I would say this one is quite harmless for a dark romance 😎 Yeah, sorry but no sorry, I just simply love dark romance books 😁 And I love it when the bad guys get 🔪🩸🔫🛠️👨‍🏭 you know 😉

Was it OK what Jester did when they were 17? Getting his 🍆👅 by another woman... Definitely NO! Did he have reasons? Yes. Were the reasons understandable? Yes. But still he was an idiot 🙄
And yes, I felt sorry for him. Love can make you do things you don't want to do 😩

I loved how much Faith hated him and letting him know that 😁 She is a tough woman. Especially because she had to be strong against her 🤬 mother. What a 🤬 How can you live in this town but don't understand the rules? And not even that. How can she hate her own daughter for... Yeah, for what? Faith is a wonderful woman! She is strong. She is independent. And she is just a wonderful person 🩷

I love this whole family thing of the Unholy. If you are one of them, they do everything for you 🩷

I'm going to jump into book 3 now (you know... I've already LONG read it), and I'm so excited about Havoc and Kerri 😁

I did not expect this book to be as funny as it was. Jester, is one hell of a witty dude. I loved reading his POV chapters in this book! Jester is the second book in Renee Rocco's Masters of Mayhem series and is the best way to be welcomed back into Mayhem.

The story begins with Faith returning back to Mayhem after leaving for college and deciding that Brighton is not the place for her. She runs into Jester and jump starts Jester's challenge in getting her back. Faith is one heck of a character. She is very feisty and stubborn and not afraid to really speak up to a lot of the more intimidating characters. Jester is funny as hell and very determined to win back Faith no matter how hard she tries to turn him down. It was fun to read their dynamic as they worked together to solve the mystery of who is bringing a lethal drug into their city.

In this book, we get a bigger taste of many different characters who live in Mayhem, a little more world building and backstory. I am very excited to return back to Mayhem to read Havoc's or Discord's story! 10/10 would recommend reading this book!

The story was good, interesting. but I'm a little disappointed. The author was able to benefit so much from the betrayal her boys, led by Jester, when they finished school. I lacked emotions there, anxiety. If your closest friends betray you, you don't just wave your hands so that nothing happens even after 7 years. They did not try to connect with her or apologize. I really missed that. Writing also seemed chaotic to me, but it wasn't so bad. I appreciate that the protagonist had type 1 diabetes and that it was put into the story, but honestly I found it too annoying. Yes, we knew he had diatebes, yes we know he has to measure sugar, be careful. Well, we didn't need to keep it up to her every time she worked. I would include this story among those I have read, but I do not plan to read it again. I'm looking forward to the Havoc story, I believe his girlfriend will be Kerri. I also hope that the author will develop the conversations and give us some anxiety or at least emotions.

TITLE: Jester
GENRE: New Adult Romance
AUTHOR: Renee Rocco
TROPE: Dark Romance, Enemies-to-Lovers
TYPE: Series (Masters of Mayhem Book 2)
POV: Multiple POV
MY RATING: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ / 5

Faith and Eric (Jester) were friends from a young age, then boyfriend/girlfriend, until Jester broke her heart. Jester is a friends-to-lovers, enemies-to-lovers, second chance romance. Jester, named after his goofy wit and personality, cracked me up multiple times. Faith has moved back to her hometown after being away for seven years and is a type 1 diabetic; and she is a spitfire who grew up with a few of the men of Mayhem, AKA the Unholy. I liked the main characters in the book and the sub-characters, which made the storyline more engaging. I would have liked more angst between Faith and the other characters who were also part of Jester's betrayal but overall, the story flowed well. Next, I will be moving on to Havoc, book three in the series. My rating is 4 / 5 stars

Jester was everything I hoped for and more!! Yes, at the beginning of this book Jester is a total jerk. I mean, he warns you right? But he definitely makes up for it. The man really loves Faith. And Faith is an awesome baddie in her own right. She makes Jester work for it, no matter how much she really wants to forgive and forget in her heart of hearts. Jester is just so funny and loyal, and well, everything. He’s got to be one of my favorite characters I’ve read. I loved his POVs, they never ceased to make me laugh and root for him and Faith. His devotion to her, regardless of what he did in the past, was awesome. I loved their steam together too 😅. I am hoping both Havoc and Discord get books next. I loved Havoc’s tension with Kerri and I feel like his backstory is really emotional. And Discord just seems like so much fun!

Young love

Spoilers:

Man Luke was an idiot. Definitely could see a high schooler thinking this is the “only” way to end things for good and I’m doing it cause I love her enough to let her go. 🤦‍♀️

I’m glad Faith and Jester got there HEA

Rant from a barista:
There is no such thing as an ICED cappuccino. A Cappuccino is espresso shots with extra steamed foamy milk. So you can’t make an iced cappuccino. The closest would be an ice latte which is espresso shots and milk. Butttt then Faith racks on oh no sugar in that just a light splash of milk…. Okay so that’s not a latte it would end up being espresso shots, ice, with a light splash of milk. Ppl do drink shots like that. It’s just the whole ordering process had my eye twitching. lol this doesn’t take away from the book at all. 😅😅

I did enjoy this next book in this series. Although, I must admit not as much as the first book. It took me a very long time to really find my groove with this book, despite that I loved Faith. She is so spunky, and I love that she called out Jester. Although, she did have a good reason to as he did break her heart back in high school.

When it came to Jester, I had to really warm up to him. His smuginess rubbed me the wrong way, even though I knew he was using this as his wall to hide his true feelings towards Faith. The slow burn was really slow but things changed about the halfway point of this book. That is when the heat turned up and I was feeling Faith and Jester together. The second half did make up a bunch for the first half of the book.

In High School, Jester, made the mistake of letting go of Faith and in the process, he broke both of their hearts. When Faith walked away from him that day she not only lost Jester, she lost her childhood friends too. They took Jester side. Seven years later, Faith moves back to town. She knows this is where she belongs.

This is a wonderful book by Rocco. Jester is tough, commanding, loyal, and will do everything he can to keep his friends, family, and Faith safe.
Faith is spunky, fierce, independent, and does not take any crap off of Jester. I really, really loved these characters, and the Unholy. I recommend this book

One thing I love about this series is how the men are literally rough around the edges types, but they always have soft spots for their women. Jester is definitely no exception to that. He uses humor to deflect from his pain and he would rather unalive someone than face his own demons, but when the one girl he has loved his whole life comes home, he does it for her. Faith is a spitfire and I love how she gives as good as she gets, but each of the men are gummy bears to her. It was good to hear about Wraith and Jamie again and to get more of the story about the war. The tension and romance were amazing and I can not wait to read Havoc's story.

3.5/5

I liked this one a lot more than the first one (Wraith). I feel like it flowed better and moved a little faster than the first one. I wasn't a fan of the ending, as it felt very rushed and the whole arc of the book was done within one chapter.

Faith's heart was broken by Luke (Jester) in high school. Now having returned to her hometown, she runs into him for the first time since that day. When she gets involved with the Unholy and starts asking questions, Jester takes over and starts keeping an eye on Faith. One thing leads to another, and Faith and Jester are back together, but can they survive it the second time?

I think Jester was just a better character than Wraith, which is why the book flowed well. I liked Faith and felt like she was pretty down to Earth.

Overall, an easy and quick read for me!
