A blood drenched, western-tinged, revenge-fueled death trip.
All Arthur Slade wants in this world is to be left alone. To live a peaceful life with his family in the country. But peace is an impossible dream when you live on the most dangerous piece of land in the United States. When a group of outlaws murders his family, he embarks on a mission to make those responsible suffer. He will hunt them all down, and tear apart their crew piece by piece. Even if it means he has to cross the border into the Western Regions to do it. Even if it means has to Go West.
Got this at a convention years ago and finally got a chance to read it. I love westerns and was excited to jump right into this; but I can’t help but feel a bit underwhelmed. The artwork is great and matches perfectly with the tone and concept of the story, and the violence was depicted in a rad way, but the story itself is pretty superficial and bland in terms of characters and world building. It just throws you in with little to no explanation; which I wouldn’t mind if they fleshed out the world and characters later on, but alas — definitely would’ve benefited if it was longer.
This was a decent enough graphic novel that I borrowed from the library. It was a pretty straightforward, post-apocalyptic revenge story. The art was pretty good, but it was quite a violent story, that was over just as it was beginning. More depth and development would have been great, but overall it wasn't too bad.
An extremely violent action book. I would have enjoyed this a lot more if it contained more backstory to the characters. I also don't understand why Alterna Comics doesn't publish full-sized graphic novels because the art style was amazing and I would have loved to see more of the art.
