Men like me don't spend a lot of time at the library, so I've never had a reason to suspect cardigan-wearing, uptight librarians would push all my buttons.

Then I met Julian.

I wanted to hate him. He's my opposite in every way. I'm impulsive, and there's no rule I won't break. Persnickety Julian follows every rule.

But when I make demands and he stands his ground, I know he will be mine.

To win him over, I'll have to do the impossible, prove that occasionally, I can be reserved and restrained.

Ehhhhhh well compared to book one and two this one was the weakest so far. There was far too much sex than action or talking… I wanted more Tony (Lancelots monkey)..

Now on to the twin cousins, Dax first and then Ambrose!

Good read, Lance is a great character but wasn’t keen on his match, found him to be weak and insipid .
Monkey was great though.
The story was good and throughout this had some very good moments.

Divertido, entretenido, hot!

Unfortunately Lancelot was a huge let down which is quite sad really seeing as his character is the most interesting.
I found that the main focus of this book was the sex which don’t get me wrong was very hit but I wanted more mafia action and Tony was hardly involved which was very disappointing.

Lance is way too charming. I think that he could probably sell presents to Santa Claus, he's that ridiculously charming and charismatic. He always manages to get people to do what he wants, until he meets Julian, and that didn't work very well.

I loved watching Julian shut down Lance. It just puts Lance on the back foot. It was hilariously funny.

I do think that they are good for each other. And we get to find out more about Tony.

It was my own fault for reading a Mafia romance. I know I don't like them and still, I read it. So I guess I'm not surprised that I don't love this one.

I actually really liked the beginning. There are a lot of dialogues and the chapters have a nice fast pace. I really liked Tony too!

Both mcs were okay. I just don't like criminals. I would never accept that my partner kills people. And for what? Power? Drugs? Money? No thank you.

The way the author handled safe sex in this book appalled me. They started sex and that was literally their conversation:
'what about condoms?'
'youre safe with me. Don't worry'
'what about you? You didn't even ask me'
'you already know I like to take risks'
HELLO? Excuse me? You already know I like to take risks? If you act like there are no STDs in a book fine(ish) but if you acknowledge them and still don't give a fuck, that is awful.

So overall the book was fine, I just don't enjoy Mafia romance.

Beauty and the Beast

Lancelot was not one you would expect at a library and he even took Tony the monkey with him! Is it any wonder Julian sees him as the beast in this romantic suspense?

Lance and Julian are so opposite they might as well be in different planets in different universes. Julian is a quite librarian that spends all his time at work or thinking about work. And when the wild Lance walks into his library demanding things with a monkey on his back he is furious. But he soon finds out Lance isn’t one to back down. Lance need info and will do anything to get it. But soon Lance has Julian involved in their family business and he will do anything to protect his sassy librarian. Especially when he realizes he’s fallen in love with him. This book was steamy, fun and full of action. I couldn’t put it down once I started it! Truly amazing read.

Lance and Julian are my new favorite Theriot Couple!! Did love seeing the rest of the guys of course though!! Lance is the reckless mobster brother and Julian is our nerdy librarian.. Clever plot having them meet when Lance is trying to get into the Library for some hidden intel! I will not give that part away!!! Lets just say he will find more then he bargained for, and now he will need to keep Julian with him to protect him! Turns out despite their first snarky rivaling first encounters these two are quite compatible under the sheets! Their steamy times are sensually descriptive and kept my kindle on fire! This is told from both of their POV which really endears you to both of them. I received an ARC of this book and I recommend for those who love a couple who become quite attached to one another while working through a dangerous situation! Steamy times and loyal fun family members abound! Oh and you will love Lance's monkey Tony!!! Adorbs! Happy reading!

Extra points for having a librarian as the love interest, though people need to learn that you can actually ban people from libraries. That is a thing. Also, any reasonably experienced staff person knows what the emotional support animal restrictions are. Only dogs and miniature ponies are allowed. I’m just saying.

*4.5 stars* Silvia Violet’s Lancelot is the third book in her The Theriot Family series and is by far the best of the three. In many ways, the book is substantially similar to the prior two books in the series, Remington and Corbin. We get all the sex-heavy, action-filled, M/M romance we’ve come to expect from Ms. Violet, along with danger and intrigue from two warring mafia families. However, unlike Remington and Corbin, in Lancelot, Ms. Violet takes the time to develop the context for the relationship between Lancelot, Remington’s eccentric, impulsive, monkey-accessorized younger brother, and Julian, the uptight, lonely librarian standing in the way of Lancelot’s mission to obtain a message left for Remington in the Library’s archive room.

In the majority of the books set in Ms. Violet’s Marchesi Universe, we get insta-love with insta-ownership, exhibited by our mafia/vigilante male protagonists through a lot of caveman, testosterone-laden, “He’s mine” conduct. This type of power dynamic seems to sit in Ms. Violet’s comfort zone because each book replicates that Dom/sub-type relationship to some degree.

We do get that in Lancelot as well, but Lancelot’s romantic love interest, Julian, has a complex personality, a strong backbone, and a level of stubbornness that hearkens back to the dynamic between Niall and Marco in Niall, Vigilance Book 2. Here, it’s even more intriguing because Julian’s mousy exterior belies his true personality, including his strong attitude and a wild streak that spurs him to experiment and let go so long as he feels safe to do so. Lancelot’s mission is to convince Julian that he is that guy, the one Julian can depend on and feel safe with. Lancelot eventually succeeds in that mission, with a little (or a lot) of help from his monkey Tony, Lancelot’s adorable, dependable sidekick.

The inclusion of Tony the monkey is preposterous TBH, yet totally welcome as he provides the highlight of the book. Tony’s adorable and his scenes are funny and heartwarming especially when we see him interacting with Julian. Most importantly, Tony serves as a vehicle through which we can see who Lancelot truly is beyond the reckless demeanor that has eroded his family’s belief in his trustworthiness.

We get significantly more emotional connection between Lancelot and Julian than we’ve seen with prior Marchesi universe couples. That’s part of what makes Lancelot work where prior books have struggled. Lancelot and Julian’s relationship takes a slightly slower track and it contains a level of respect and even deference that are absent from many of the other Marchesi universe relationships. Despite Lancelot and Julian’s obvious differences, the dichotomy in Julian’s personality makes perfect sense as does how it dovetails with Lancelot’s personality and vulnerabilities. In short, we see and understand how and why they work as a couple.

When we add all of this to the action, low-level suspense, and hot sex usually found in Ms. Violet’s stories, you end up with a terrific book in Lancelot. So long as you’re not looking for anything too deep or slow-paced, you can’t go wrong with this highly enjoyable, low-angst, mafia-style, New Orleans-based adventure, featuring a healthy dose of spicy romance between an engaging, likable couple, and an endearing monkey sidekick to boot.

Mobster’s and Monkey’s

This is the third book in The Theriot Family series, and it captivated my attention as much as the first ones did.

Lancelot is the middle brother in the Theriot crime family. He’s charming, he likes to be in charge, and his methods aren’t always standard, but he gets the job done. Jobs other people wouldn’t want to do. He also has a sassy spider monkey he takes everywhere with him. Lance’s mission to pick up information left for the family in an archive museum goes awry, when he comes up against Julian, the museum’s director.

Persnickety doesn’t even begin to describe Julian. Uptight, stressed, cardigan wearing, Julian is an eyeful for Lancelot. His charm fails him however, and Julian denies him access to the library and it’s contents. Julian loves his job, and the contents of the museum more than anything, and one easy on the eyes mobster with a monkey, is not about to ruin any of his precious books.

Lance sets out to woo Julian, not only for access to his library, but because he wants the man who dared to tell him no. He’s seen the fire in Julian’s eyes, along with the submissiveness he’s hiding just under his surface, behind a sarcastic mouth. When Julian’s life is put in danger, Lance makes it his mission to keep him safe, while bringing the fire in Julian’s body to a boil.

Once again, this was a book I couldn’t put down until the end. Lance and Julian are such opposites, but so steaming hot together, I couldn’t wait for them to get it on. Tony, the monkey’s antics were adorable and funny, and the action and angst was just the perfect amount.

Featuring the story of an enemy to lovers romance, this book is an easy listen for anyone not afraid of themes involving m/m, morally grey characters who are passionate about family, honour and going after what they desire.
Although this book skipped several steps for characters to learn about each other and grow to like each other, it was a good depiction of what a relationship with equal partners looks like. I really enjoyed Lancelot's ability to consider and adapt to Julian's comfort levels; and the push-pull they had from the get go made their relationship more steamy.
This is my first verse-mm book, the fact that they had a verse relationship made their equality easier, I think. It definitely wasn't fully equal with Lance leading from all the positions he is in.
Although this is the third book in the Theriot series, it was my introduction to all the characters which was done very well ensuring I was invested and wanted to go back to their individual stories to get the full details of their love stories. Plus, the epilogue teasing Dex and Travis as the couple in the next book from the series is already so steamy I can't wait to read it!
🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️/5
Listening at 1.5* speed on YouTube although there was about 5 minutes that had scrambled audio, not sure if that was to overcome plagiarism but I was still able to understand the gist of the story even after that.

This book is the third installment in the Theriot family series, and follows the often irreverent and chaotic, yet dependable, middle brother, Lance, and the star of the show, his pet spider monkey, Tony.

At the end of Corbin’s book, Lance was given a task that should have been easy, but then he walks into the library and finds a guy that checks all his boxes, who won’t give into his (or Tony’s) charms, and then gets pulled into the almost-turf-war between the Theriots and another family.

The relationship is a fast burn, insta-attraction, insta-lust between two men who don’t easily fit into typical top/bottom, dom/sub roles. But Lance wants to be in charge, whatever that looks like; and Julian wants to be overwhelmed. While the snark level is high, and the personalities clash for a while, the heat is high as well, and the two men quickly become attached.

Enjoyed this book more than the others. There was more flexibility in the characters and the storyline; it didn’t feel like we were reading a story based on an outline and we didn’t have absolute characters with no variation. Plus we had Tony in full force!

This book was even better than I was hoping for and that’s saying a lot since I was already hoping for a 5 star story. I love all books in this shared world that Silvia Violet has created and Lancelot’s story fits in so well.

We’ve gotten to know Lancelot during three other books in this shared world so I was eagerly awaiting his book. He was such a great main character and Julian was a perfect balance for him. Lancelot is stubborn, outgoing, charismatic and can be a rash/impulsive. Julian is stubborn, but he is also serious, shy and proud of everything he does. He wants to protect the library from getting closed down and Lance thinks he can use that to his advantage.

Lance doesn’t mean to bring Julian into everything, but once he knows Julian is in trouble he can’t leave his side. Lance knows he needs Julian in his life and Julian knows he needs Lance but he’s nervous to admit it.

Overall this story was just amazing. The romance, angst, action, and Tony worked together so well. This is another story by Silvia Violet that I was be reading again.

I did receive a free ARC of this book but that did not influence my review.

Steamy, sexy and has a librarian!

I really liked this one (though oddly it isn’t my favourite of the series despite having a hot librarian lol). Lance is the kind of guy who can get you to do anything and you’ll be convinced it’s a great idea (even when it’s not) and happily go to your possible demise with a smile on your face. At least, he is until he meets Julian who is like his charm kryptonite. Or maybe not quite, because I still found Lance hella charming lol. Anyway, Julian is not moved (at least at first) by Lance’s charm and watching Lance really have to work for it was awesome (although, I’m still not sure how Julian did it, I’d be a big old puddle of ‘I’ll do whatever you want Lance). For some reason though, I didn’t connect quite as much with Julian. But then, I do have an awful tendency to pick favourites. You may have guessed, Julian was not my favourite lol. Either way, it’s more a me problem than a them problem - but for whatever reason I think that’s why this one, though on paper (hehe) should have been my favourite so far, was not. It’s still a super awesome book though and it’ll definitely end up on my reread list (let’s face it, the whole series will)!

Lance & Tony..nuff said!

It’s about time we got the story of Tony! Oh I mean Lancelot! Well okay, both. Book three of the Theriot Family, Lancelot is the story of the “middle” child, as I’d like to say. Actually, a lot can be said about that. Lance is the middle brother, to Remy’s oldest and Corbin’s youngest, Lance is unapologetically himself, in everything he does, which of course pisses his oldest brother off and amuses his youngest. He’s ballsy, charming, daring and well he’s a Theriot, so he gets what he wants and what he wants is Julien, our up tight, by the rules, nerdy librarian. Who just so happens to be exactly what Lance needs!

Together, they flirt, banter and beat the bad guys, all while giving into their desires and accepting the fact that they were made for one another. Trust, loyalty and love wrapped in a tempting package titled Lancelot. I enjoyed every page of Lancelot and learning the story of Tony just made me awe all over, I even got the audiobook! That’s how much I enjoyed this book! Four tasty monkey treats for Lancelot! Happy reading all!

I received an arc, in exchanged for my honest review, of this title for Gay Romance Reviews.

Lancelot is the third book in the Theriot Family series by author Silvia Violet. I personally love this series. I am always on the watch for Ms. Violet's works too. She is an amazing writer who brings me stories I love to read.

Lancelot is a fun story. Two very opposite people finding a middle ground and love along the way. Add in a pet monkey and it is a fun but dangerous as well ride.

Lancelot, he has a pet monkey named Tony. He is defiant, out to prove himself, and he is kind. I liked the many layers Lancelot has. Just when you think you know him something new comes to the surface.

Julian is not impressed by a monkey in his sacred library. He likes rules, and he likes others to follow them. Very protective of his library. Also, he is sweet, quirky and loyal to a fault.

Overall, these two really have what the other needs. They make a great team. I laughed so hard reading this story. And there is plenty of burning heat too. This story is in dual POV and it works great for these characters. I highly recommend this read to any romance fan; it is one for the keeper shelves.

There is lots to like in this story which I think is fully worth all 5 stars. It’s the third book about this particular family. But Lance pops up in the Marchesi series too. It can be read as a stand-alone but to fully appreciate all the characters you would benefit from reading the other books too. In doing so you won’t be disappointed.
The MCs are Julian and Lance. Julian is a nerdy librarian but he has a fiery side that Lance unlocks. So the story has two elements, the love that develops between them and the danger which Lance has to protect him from.
The elements that I enjoyed include: A bad boy with a code of honour; the suspense/danger in the plot; high heat in the *bedroom (can also insert hall and car); loyal supporting characters that we have got to know and love in previous books and of course I cannot not mention Tony the monkey who is both annoying and adorable in equal measure.
I did receive an arc via GRR and I am leaving this review voluntary….but I would have read this anyway because I love the series.

When Lancelot meets librarian Julian he wants to hate him as he likes things quiet and orderly and does not take well to rules being broken - the opposite of Lancelot who is impulsive, breaks rules and is a criminal. Julian stood his ground against Lancelot when he made demands and so he knows he has to have him as he never imagined that a mousy and uptight librarian could push all of his buttons. For Lancelot to win Julian over he will need to do something impossible and prove that occasionally he can be reserved and restrained and that he can trust his with his heart.

I loved this story and the stark contrast between Lancelot and Julian. It was also great to see that Tony was central to the story and that he won over Julian too. This was a different story from what you might expect from the Theriot family as Julian was a completely different type of person than the men from this family normally go for. Easy to read, feel and understand this was a softer version of the drama we are used to. This is an MM story with mature content.

This is easily my favourite of the series (despite the cover, because it's REALLY not doing it for me).

Lance (and Tony) and Julian are fab. I worried Tony's antics might be annoying but the author got the balance right I think and he was a great addition to the story.

I love that they were vers - Lance is very dominant but he (the author) showed how you can be the one in charge even when not topping. The first time they sleep together, Julian tops and it is a very hot scene🔥I wish more books had MCs with this type of dynamic - I may have mentioned once it twice I'm a junkie for vers MCs lol😋

It was very insta-lust / insta love but to be honest with Tony and the whole crime families thing, I don't think that was the most unbelievable part of the story lol. I found the whole thing enjoyable from start to finish so I'll forgive any artistic liberties the author may have taken :)

Lancelot and Julian story was impressive. It was full of danger, humour and a monkey pet that is impossible not to love.
I was really wondering since the start of the series who will get his attention and make him fall in love and a stubborn librarian was such a nice touch. I loved the friendship he and Tony formed and the way he equilibrates Lancelot.
I loved the way they connected, how they learn to trust each other, how they discover themselves and how they take a leap of faith in falling in love even if they were hurt in the past.
It was beautiful to see how their love blooms and how after the danger passed they confess their feelings, how that love gives them hope in their darkest moments, calm and power to get over the danger.
It was an entertaining read and I'm looking forward to see what happens next.

Lancelot (and Tony too!)

I really enjoyed Lance and Julien’s story! I had been intrigued on what Lance’s, and Tony of course, story would be when they first appeared in the Vengeance series. I loved the take charge attitude we’ve come to expect from the Theriot men. With that gruff exterior was also a man who loved fiercely and was a sweetheart to his monkey, Tony. I loved the way he cherished Julien and how he was everything Julien needed. In turn I loved seeing Julien challenge Lance. These two completed each other so well. I loved seeing their relationship develop. These two really knew how to turn on the steam!! I enjoyed the intrigue and the chase of solving the latest issue to face the Theriot family. I loved being able to catch up with the other Theriot’s we’ve met along the way. I’m ready for what’s next!

Love Tony!!! Are you surprised that the spider monkey is a key part of the story? Me neither. Lance is the stubborn, slightly out of control, middle brother of the family. He is sent in to do a task and of course does not head the warnings of his older brother. The clean up ensues from there. Julian is the stuffy librarian that comes face-to-face with the handful that is Lancelot. They both have parts of themselves that are revealed through the story and create much heat on the page. Silvia Violet's series continues with a new challenge for the family to deal with. Love seeing all the brothers play a part in Lance and Julian's life. Love that this isn't the end. We get to spend more time with the cousins. Just so many hearts for this series!

5 stars 🌟 Lance and the Librarian ❤️

I absolutely devoured this book!!! First of all, I love this series.... every single book so far, it just keeps getting better and better. Lance's story has been on my "must read radar" since the beginning....and I was not disappointed!!! Silvia Violet slayed this one! Seeing Lance with all
of his confidence, charm, looks, and monkey (❤️ Tony) actually have to work for a man for once in his life was a pleasure.....it was funny, it was sweet, it was endearing and it was yummy....watching Julian our uptight librarian allow Lance to take the reigns of his control away to allow himself the pleasure he richly craves, to be taken care of....to be cherished, to love and to be loved equally without measure was everything!!! I loved them together, I loved Lance and his wild boy 🔥❤️🔥. Now... Tony 🐒 I loved that little guy, he was hilarious, adorable and the star of the show!!! I'm so glad we finally got the story of how he became Lance's little buddy ❤️ On to the next book...Dax and Travis..... I cannot wait!!! I highly recommend this book.
