When Boreas died on that surgical table back in his home world, his mortal body remained on Earth, but his soul, striving for something more, was reborn. In another world, he became Hadjar Darkhan, the son of a King and Queen. He had only his neural network and the burning aches and desires from his previous life to guide him.
It took him years to become the Mad General, a man who possesses a sober mind, a steadfast heart, strong hands and sharp eyes. He followed the path of a warrior, defeated countless enemies, and he saw Death more often than anyone else in this Nameless World.
Now, there is nothing that could make Hadjar Darkhan tremble with horror. He survived the war for the throne of his homeland, battles against monsters out of myth, even the destruction of an ancient civilization’s last remaining fragments in the Sea of Sand.
Answering the call of his dragon heart, he is ready to do everything to achieve his great, almost foolishly noble goal. He is challenging the whole world, and no Emperor, god, or demon will stop him.
It's crazy seeing how peope (characters) play the long game in their schemes. Every piece on the chess board of life has it's purpose. Sacrifices are made so others can succeed until there is only one piece standing - the smart AF, manipulative Emperor; who in his dying moments kills his scumbag lying nemesis. FCUKING EPIC!
This series is totally blowing my mind! I can't stop reading and there's meant to be 20 books total.
There are very very few authors out there who, for me at least, manage to create moments of such epicness in their books that I literally go "Holy s**t!". Actually there was only one other author from whose works I've experienced such thrill, and that was Steven Erikson's Malazan series. This is not exactly the same, but comes close. George Martin never managed it, as all he did was have his stupid characters make stupid decisions and get killed off. In this series you know that the main character is never going to die (at least until the very last book maybe). There are quite a few important side characters that the author hasn't been afraid to kill off, but their deaths never feel cheap and idiotic like they do in Song of Ice & Fire. I like to see this. I like to see authors give deserving value to their characters, even in their deaths.
There are also very few authors, which despite having a mainly single POV book (or maybe because of it), manage to keep me guessing and truly hooked as to whats going to happen.
A big arc of the story has come to and end, and big one is about to begin, it feels like. Can't wait to see some new characters and new lands that we'll come across next. This is also one of the overlooked aspects of what makes a really good fantasy series. Sometimes authors get so attached to side characters that they keep hanging on to them even though it is past any logical sense for them to be with the main character any more. Klevanski doesn't do that. Side characters don't feel like tag-alongs to the main character. They truly feel like main characters of their own little story. Although its always sad to see them go, it also comes with excitement about who will fill their spot next.
If this series never ended, I feel like I could truly keep on reading and exploring the Nameless World with the author. But since the story is already planned to end at about 2000 chapters, I'll only hope that Klevanski keeps writing more new series in the world that seems to have no limits.
Super climatic ending, with another awesome lead up for the next era in the story
Really enjoyed another chapter in Hadjar's story.
This one wraps up a lot and sets the stage for the next big leap in the story. Guessing it's time to leap from the human empires up to dealing with the dragon ones and eventually up to the immortals.
Thanks for another great read. The translation is really well done.
This was an amazing book from start to finish, closing the chapter on an overarching arch that has gone for the past 12 books. The wording is brilliant, the picture it paints is stunning and the ending is beautiful. I cannot wait for what is next for Hadjar Darkhan.
This has become one of my absolute favorite series I have ever read. The level of complexity and detail, alongside multi book arcs for plots and characters is amazing!
Story goes on..and I am addicted more than ever...beautifully written and plots and subplots..everything is good...u feel both for the main and side characters...waiting for more
As much as I want to punch the author in the face for all the emotions I must pay my respects when it's due as I said the best volume out of the series so far and with the conclusion of the book we move onto the next stage of hadjars story
Hadžars Darkans, pūķa sirds gabala (gabaliņš būtu precīzāk, bet pamazināmā forma tā kā neiederas stāstā) mantinieks, ā arīdzan sensenā pagātnē no dievu rokas saplosītā, bet vēl šobaltdien līdz galam nenomirušā Melnā Ģenerāļa, dvēseles gabala mantotājs, Dragon Heart sērijas piedzīvojumu gaitā sastapis nevienu vienu attiecīgā brīža spēka ziņā līdzvērtīgu vai pat pārāku pretinieku. Salīdzinoši mazāk un reizēm ar sākotnēji mainīgām attiecību dinamikām līdzās bijuši vairāki kompanjoni vai draugu, no kuriem daži bijuši ‘’brāļa’’ uzrunas cienīgi.
If you’ve read the previous books in the series, you already know this one will be full of twists, turns, and nerve racking battle scenes! Cant wait for the next book.
You need to read this series. The books are well written. The plot develops on unexpected ways. So often these types of stories can become repetitive. This series managed to avoid that. Hadjar’s growth is not ever way out straightforward. He is continually dealing with twists and enemies that become ever stronger. I can’t Wally until the next book.
All the slow progress of hadjar comes to fruition as he finally starts to break past the limits of the 7 empires, and we start to see beyond the veil the ruby palace has created.
I'm excited for the translation of book 13. I'm hoping that by going slow with Amazon's release schedule that the author will have time to finish the series in Russian by the time we're caught up.
Such an exceptional book! I am a huge fan of the Dragon Heart series, and I am looking forward to the next book in the series.
So many twists and turns, and it is the next book (already 12 so far!) in this great series. I highly recommend this book to fans of Dragon Heart, and if you haven't read this series yet, go back to #1 and start!
This book ends well and sets up the next path in the series
Massive power increases,I liked that very much . Amazing fight scenes, powerful enemies and schemes within schemes. Certain plots see an ending while new ones are begun. Can’t wait to see MC reach higher levels of cultivation. There is an undercurrent of sadness/ loss in this book ,more so than compared to others. More please!
i'm glad this is nothing like ash. that god-awful book had me nervous about the drop in quality. i had some mixed feelings about where the story was heading. we're leaving a lot of the old beloved characters, though at least it was done in a kind way, not just by killing them all off. i grieve for tom and raven's wing. i don't know how i feel about the time jumps. i guess it's needed to move the story along but the constant flashbacks as what happened in the last book (of his training in storm mountain) was a bit annoying and confusing - it was very disruptive to the flow of the book. but anyway, great book as always and looking forward to the next one. wish i know russian so i can read ahead to book 18 already!
The author once again puts Hadjar in impossible situations that he struggles to overcome and grow from. The conclusion of the book sets the stage for the next arc of the story and character. With increased knowledge and power Hadjar moves closer to his goals.
I keep coming back to this series because it is cool and fun. The story feels like it jumps around a lot and since it is translated it feels like there is something missing in translation. But it s good enough that I keep coming back to it.
Brilliant as always, kirill continues to entice, entertain and completely blow one's mind... Simply cannot wait for the next installment... If u haven't read this series u are missing a great work of art... Buy NOW
Too much death. Story still fascinating . Full of interesting characters and unexpected plot lines. Will stay with series to its end. Wish audio was available sooner. Is it three books behind. Good set of people working on the stories. Even bought Ash. Book on kindle and reordered Ash audio. Hope same narrator. Doo not understand extra chapters offer. Are these previews or extra insight into story?
This book really separates the story into two different parts now. Wasn’t expecting that time skip at the end and really hated how the author did Tom dirty.
Great progression for Hadjar. Story arc of the empire is closed very well and nomadic life of or hero begin as again to take on the dragon lands. Must read
After so many battles and tribulations, Hadjar continues his path through the empire of Darnassus. He goes forward on some of his most dangerous missions yet, and discovers more about his own power and his destiny. With twists, turns, revelations, this continues to be a brilliant epic that is a must read for fans of the series
It follows along nicely with the other books progression wise. I enjoy it for what it is and look forward to seeing North wind in the next installment!
I have really enjoyed this series so far and am eagerly awaiting the next book in this series. If you haven't read any of the books in this series you are definitely missing out.
