In the War of Fire, death often heralds a new beginning…
Dragons, magic, and war are commonplace for sixteen year old Emallya. Though she longs for the simple life of hearth and home, some things are not meant to be.
Her dreams for the future are changed in a single night when battle breaches the walls of her home, and she finds her true calling. The innocent hopes of youth are cast aside as Emallya steps forward into a future she never imagined for herself.
*This is a short story within the Dragon's Call world and includes a bonus a peek into Embers at Galdrilene, the first Dragon's Call book.
Great intro novel to what looks to be an awesome series
Incredibly, I personally know the author, work with her in fact, and didn't know it for years. Once I found out, I made it a goal to read this series, and the wait was worth it. Great introduction novel to what I have heard from others is a wonderful series. Character development is fluid and immersive. Can't wait to start the next book.
My Review: Anytime I read a series such as this I devour any tidbit that comes my way. This was such a nice surprise to come. I loved seeing Emallya when she was young before she was hardened and tempered by war. Getting a glimpse of her and Bardeck meeting was special as well even as it was bittersweet for her family’s loss. As always A.D. Trosper delivers a powerful story even though it is short. I will look forward to reading more of these and of course look forward to the next in the series. A must add to the book shelf. I give this 5 stars.
I love the well-developed characters and action you can see in your head while reading. As a big fan of sci-fi there are only a few authors that write fantasy that I enjoy and A.D. Trosper is high on the list.
Short and sweet. I want to know more about Emallya, Rylin, and the beginning of the war. This books sets up an amazing fantasy, enticing the reader, making you crave more. Definitely read this before Embers, but make sure you have Embers handy when you start reading!
