This book was assigned as a class read for .y Masters in Education course. Between this book and my professor I had to rethink everything I knew about formative assessments. I basically had to be taught what my professors dying my Bachelors courses taught me. The knowledge I gained from third book will help as I start building a new curriculum for 8th grade this summer.

This professional text has a lot of information about the importance of formative assessment and examples of formative assessment practices in a variety of classrooms. It guides planning and instruction to base on formative assessment and has many charts/diagrams to shift thinking towards the many reasons/uses of formative assessments.

3.5 stars ... some good tips and methods that I hope to implement. Good examples throughout (although a bit repetitive). I also liked that the final chapter discussed the role of school administrators in successfully integrating formative assessment in the classroom.

Really helps distinguish formative vs. summative assessment and provides practical application examples. Quick read that packs a worthwhile punch!
