Kitty is supposed to be looking after her friend’s pet hamster, Marvin, for the weekend, but disaster strikes when he is kidnapped! Kitty must follow the kidnapper’s trail and return Marvin to his home safe and sound, before the night is out.
I don't understand why the blurb and title refer to a kidnapping. That's not what happens. I think it's ultimately supposed to reassure children about new houses and scary noises but I think had I read it as a child, I would instead have been worried about my beloved pet running away.
This was the perfect read for us as we just introduced a pet hamster to our home. Poor Marvin nibbles off more than he can chew when he looks for a little adventure when things get too much at home. Kitty and her cat crew are thankfully on hand to tackle a trouble making rat leader Ruby and her fearsome pack to save the day.
We love the Kitty books. They are just the perfect blend of cuteness and adventure. Of course the antics always take place at night which adds to the excitement. The Kitty books have a gentle message about standing up to injustice and overcome problems together. Paula Harrison has a lovely way of describing night time scenes and this would be a great series to read if you were looking at a topic on the night sky or nocturnal creatures as there is a plethora of wonderful night scenes described. Jenny Lovlie's illustrations delight as always with her iconic orange and grayscale Kitty palette.
An ideal early chapter book for all adventure and animal lovers. An absolute must for cat lovers!
Floss - it was very very good and I liked the cute little Marvin. I was quite shocked when Kitty and the cats threw vegetables at the rats. I wouldn't have done that and I don't think Kitty should have either. (I have to say I totally agree with Floss). Floss and I read this book together taking turns.
What a lovely book this is! This is both my son and I's first encounter of Kitty the little girl with cat like super powers and I'm sure it won't be our last.
Kitty is tasked with looking after her friends hamster whilst she is away but when she arrives there is just an empty cage!! Where is the little hamster and can Kitty bring him home safely before her friend gets home.
This is the perfect book to snuggle down with your little ones and read together or for a confident beginner reader to tackle on their own. There were just a couple of words my son needed explaining.
The illustrations are beautiful and really add to the enjoyment of the story.
This is the seventh in a series and gets the BIG thumbs up from my 8 year old grand daughter. Why? The character is cute, brave and has adventures where she does good things. She also wears cat ears! I have also read the first sixth and they are just as delightful. This is a graphix novel but also has words. Perfect for those readers making their way into chapter books.
Another amazing book about Kitty’s adventures and in some ways responsibility. Was great fun to read about their adventures with rats while my not so responsible rat catching kitty was fast asleep on my lap. I loved the artwork on this one, it really showed off her talent and magical capability.
My 5 year old loves Kitty and so do I! I love the full color illustrations especially. This book didn't have a strong message, but it had a subtle message of responsibility and sticking up for others.
I really wish there weren’t spelling and grammar errors in every book in this series. The author needs to find a new editor. The books get repetitive after a while but they’re cute for kids and my daughter loves them.
This books was very good,I liked to find out about what will happen to Marvin and if he will be alright. It is very nice to know that kitty is very caring and she looks out for everyone.

The seventh book in this absolutely delightful superhero series for readers aged 5+ by Paula Harrison (with charming illustrations by Jenny Løvlie) features a cute hamster in peril, lots of cats, a superhero who wants to help and the power of teamwork and doing the right thing. It’s a lot of fun that younger children will enjoy reading - especially if they’re into kitties!
