We love this book! Such cute and vibrant illustrations. I love the see-through 3-D tummy. The rhyming was fun and helped make sense of why the old lady swallowed a fly. Thankfully, this is one I can enjoy rereading daily because after bringing it home today, I’ve read it 3-4 times to Nicolette (2.5).
Meh, I like the original so much better.I appreciate what this one was trying to do by changing it up a bit, but it’s not as sing/songy. Not as good of a read aloud. The original was funnier too. I do appreciate all the bright colors though and cute illustrations. I just couldn’t compare it to the original.
My baby girl didn’t seem too excited about it either.
Another take on The Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly, the images are bright, detailed, and the text type is varied. My kids like the silly rhymes and especially love the moving animal cutouts in the clear window of the old lady's stomach.
(5☆ Would recommend & would read again) I have always enjoyed this story. I really like how this book illustrates the story. It makes it more engaging.
I thought this was an awesome version of this story. Fewer words/pages than the usual (original?) one, but funnier (little bit of attitude), and the clear/cutout stomach where you can see the loose/moving contents is a great idea. Darcy was less impressed. Maybe when she's older.
Dumb, dumb book. Forced rhymes, a nonsensical conclusion, and it doesn't even make use of the felt-toothed gaping maws on each page. I know it's for young children, but come on.
