Revenge. But a single word defines Kaito Ukei’s second chance at life. After being mercilessly betrayed and murdered by his so-called comrades, he goes back in time to the day he met the princess who ultimately double-crossed him. But killing her isn’t enough—he wants to revel in every second of her agony as he looks her in the eye and robs her of all she holds dear. Her debt is the first to be repaid, though it shall not be the last. And by the time he’s finished, he will bathe in the blood of every last traitor who dared to cross him…
Want to know how to write a good revenge story? Read The Count of Monte Cristo or my personal favorite, The Inn at Lake Devine. Just want to see the wronged people become as bad as their tormentors with bonus unnecessary slavery plotline? This'll do.
Vengeance is best when it's subtle. I do wish light novel authors would learn that.
The Hero was betrayed and murdered and got his whole isekai experience reset when he died. All he has are his memories and the burning hatred for everyone who had wronged him. So the first thing he does when he resets is brutalize and torture the princess. Then he goes to buy a slave and chooses the rabbit beastfolk girl who also has that burning desire for hate fueled revenge.
Overall, it's an interesting twist, very similar to The Rising of the Shield Hero where the protagonist actually does become the villain of his own story. Reading it, however, with it's body horror, torture, and gore, is a little disturbing. They went all out on the violence in this. Not sure if this trend will continue in later volumes but I will say, it's good material for any D&D character you want to be extra evil.
This wasn’t quite what I was thinking. It’s much gorier and kind of has a bit of a squicky tone once Minnalis enters the picture.
The main theme is revenge. Revenge on all of the people that betrayed the main character Kaito. That betrayal ended up in Kaito’s death, but a twist of fate brings him back to life and sets him on a path of really intense revenge against everyone in his party that took part in his death.
Definitely has a bit of Solo Leveling feels with the reincarnation/second chance aspect. Plus the video game like status aspects and the leveling up and skills abilities. But this one just seems so violent. Not sure if I will be picking up volume 2.
I understand this won't be everyone's cup of tea, but I love it. The usual storyline of someone being hideously wronged and choosing to just forgive and forget gets dull, tiresome and annoying. Reading about people who are hurt in the worst way and choosing to lay waste to the people who betrayed them is much better, imo. There is a bit of catharthis mixed into my opinion as well, though, so I may be biased. I want to see what kind of reckoning Kaito and Minnalis are going to bring about next. I can't wait for volume 2.
Edge Lord's First Grimdark manga edition! If you've read my review for the original light novel you know I really didn't like this story, but I thought I would try it out in manga form because maybe some of the needless brutality would be adapted out. Well yes and no. While some scenes have been cut, like Kaito drip feeding the money exchanger melted metal because he tried to rip him off, other aspects were captured with disturbing detail, such as when the princess's fire spell went off in the mouth.
I'm all for a good revenge plot, but this goes pretty heavy on the gore/bodily harm factor and less so on the plot factor. Plot could be forthcoming, but I don't have any interest in continuing this since it pretty much jumps headfirst into the protagonist gunning for his enemies without giving us readers a reason to care that he's been betrayed (since we just hear about it instead of getting a chance to feel it).
A another version of Redo of Healer. If you know, you know. Lol. If you are looking for another version of that series, then this would be a good option.
Cuando comencé a leer este manga prometía bastante. Alcance la publicación actual, entró en pausa y luego pum.... cancelado. Ni para qué poner mas detalles.
So good!! The main character is amazing! sadly i could only find volume 1 and 2 in manga form, the rest are all light novels which is sad. But amazing story!
I ran into this book as a recommendation from the Kindle store based on my reading selections. Which probably tells you more then you need to know about my reading habits. I enjoyed the story even if it a horrid power fantasy about a wicked person doing wicked things to wicked people. You know what you're getting yourself into from the get go and I find the whole idea cathartic. Not sure if the next volume of the Manga will ever make it to the US but if it does I will be sure to pick it up and read it.
