Will a drastic change in Clay’s dungeon be enough to prepare the local Heroes for the next World Threat?
Becoming a Dungeon Core was the last thing that Clayburnside Shuntwise had ever thought he would become, but unfortunately, he didn’t really have a choice. However, after Clay fully embraced his new existence, he thoroughly applied himself to train the local Hero population to defend against the gigantic monsters that threatened the entire world.
After the devastating losses that the Heroes (and Clay) suffered after the destruction of the last Threat, the Dungeon Core knew that he needed to step up his efforts. The Heroes were already working hard in their 5-person groups, of course, slowly improving as they delved through his dungeon, but that wasn’t going to be quite enough if they were going to be ready for the appearance of next Threat. Therefore, Clay needed to do something that hadn’t ever been done before by a Open up his dungeon for larger groups of Heroes, so that they could learn to work as a more cohesive team.
But even if he overcomes the challenges of completely overhauling the format of his dungeon, the rest of the world is quickly learning about the changes happening on the relatively isolated Sunfall Island where Clay’s dungeon now resides. Not only will Clay have to deal with a double dose of external threats to his existence, but if he doesn’t figure out how to survive and thrive, he’ll have nothing to show for all the work that he has put into making the world a safer place.
This book contains Dungeon Core, LitRPG, and GameLit elements including dungeon construction and defense, monster summoning, character progression, and a game-like interface. In addition, many of the probabilities the world is based upon are similar to Gacha-type mechanics. Contains no profanity, harems, or explicit sexual content.
The first regional threat has been defeated. It was costly however. Fortunately, whenever one hero falls, they are replaced with a new person from the island. The problem is that the number of heroes in the world is limited and the missing heroes have been noticed. A higher level group to come retrieve them is on the way.
The micro transactions/loot chests mechanic have been so fun! It was entertaining and frustrating to see Clay buy a spawn egg pack and sometimes get what he needs and sometimes not.the heroes are great as well. It’s really nice to see the Summoner class get some love! Miles Meili does a great job as always with the narration.
It was a fun fast paced read. Our favorite dungeon Clay survived the Regional Threat and now has a World Threat bearing down on him. He steps up his game and changes his dungeon to make heroes advance faster. The Guilds arrive and want the heroes. In the end Clay is safe from the guild but the World Threat nearly kills them. Fast paced. Great world building. Neat idea. Please enjoy
I like the concept of this series, the problem I'm running into is it's too stats based, and there are no real characters to attach yourself to. This is a book for a really serious DM. That does not mean I'm not enjoying it, well maybe I should say, It does not mean I'm not curious about where it will go. It's just taking about 4x longer to read because I need to take it in little chunks. If you are into "LITRPG," all about the mechanics, then this is the series for you.
Pretty great dungeon core series so far; the uniqueness of the dungeon system makes for an interesting take. One major problem that I have noticed many dungeon core novels have is the perspective of the heros. A lot of the time, it's just filler that takes away from the book, but that is not an issue in this book. The dungeon core and hero perspective are both interesting are perfectly balanced in my opinion. Definitely worth a read.
Also I would like to remind readers of this of the system of Amazon ratings. A good book is usually rated 4-4.5 stars with a great book being 4.5-5 stars. No one cares about anything below this. Therefore, I would like to propose the idea that if you think a book is worth reading, you rate it 5 stars. Anything below that should be how much you think others should not read it. For example, a 4 star book would be an average book with terribly shallow characters. You think it's a waste of yours and others time. So on and so forth to 1 star which you believe is absolute trash and shouldn't exist in the first place. Thank you and please take this into consideration on all authors behalf's.
Got the first of this series TOTALLY by accident ... ( sorry if that seems cold LoL )
However ... Because if it is in front of me I will read it ... Whether I like it or not ... Since this was #2 in the series ... LOVED IT!!!!
Conflicts of Convenience were used PERFECTLY ... Characters are well rounded and full enough to make you wish you knew them ... Storyline is totally unique to me ... Loved the concept.
Only negative I can offer ... Get a better proof reader.
Fun dungeon core novel like you would from Brooks. The Gamelit elements are well thought out and the story was fun. I wish there was more of an established antagonist. With the Dungeon and the heroes working together, it is fun but there lacks suspense because there aren’t many real consequences until the other adventurers show up and then the world threat but they all appear in the second half of the book so we are left waiting until then.
This book was a little better to read than the first in the series, but it was still not my favorite. The main detractor from both books is the fact that the tables are all in the back of the book and not embedded within the chapters as well. Makes keeping tabs on small details a pain.
This book was sixty percent stats and the rest was a awesome story. Main land heroes come to the island and decide to destroy the dungeon so the new heroes will join their guild. Not a fan of the cliffhanger.
From an author familiar with LitRPG writing it is interesting and fun to see a shift in gears towards bigger groups. Highly recommend this series and I can’t wait for more.
Mr. Brooks does it again. An amazing adventure sure you keep you reading for hours. Definitely recommend for the happy reader. Can’t eIt for the next one.
Double The Bet, Double The Trouble, Double The Treachery.
Clayburnside "Clay" Shuntwise, who is now the most unique Dungeon Core in his world, has problems he doesn't even know about closing in on his Dungeon. Some of those problems are Adventurer Guilds who will want to control access to his Dungeon -- but also want to destroy his Dungeon, if they can't be the ones controlling access to it. Fortunately, or not, Clay is about to learn about some of his problems in a distressing way.
This book, and its predecessor, will likely appeal to fans of the Fantasy, Dungeon Core, and LitRPG genres; as well as those who enjoy playing RPGs.

Great addition to the series. Lots of new additions and the plot has me racing to the end to see what was going to happen. Looking forward to the next book.
Good tale, liked the characters. Interesting approach to the 'life' of a dungeon core and the relationship with Heroes. Enjoyed this one - looking forward to reading the next!
