Sophie might be the luckiest girl in the world: chosen as one of five Patreon supporters of The Horror Tribe Podcast to visit Hodder House. She’s there like a shot, of course. Even has a thing for one of the hosts. You never know, right?
But once inside, this haunted house quickly becomes more than she—or anyone else—bargained for. Hodder is still home. As is the Giant Child. The Bound Man. Getting out may not be an option.
Hodder House is a novella of extreme horror. It is full of vile acts and deranged behaviour … that which Ericmore’s readers have become accustomed to. But this time, somehow, it is worse.
Consider this a trigger warning for just about everything.
It’s been a long time since a book has made me scared to look around my house at noises I hear. This book sure did that for me. I couldn’t put it down as I wanted to know if the house was really haunted. I’m a sucker for a haunted house story.
Please check trigger warnings as this is an extreme horror.
Another great read from Ash! Haunted houses and paranormal activity, plus gore and blood, equals a super fun read! I loved the storyline and the characters in this book, well except one maybe. I have read a lot of this authors books, and can say, I don’t think I have any triggers. Nothing bothers me, nothing stops me midway from something happening in the story, and he has tons of triggers I see others have.
Eh...very ok for me. Ash Ericmore has a great sense of what is extreme and nasty and over the top, as far as content is concerned. And I've read many of his offerings, with positive things to say about most of them. Here, however, I felt like he fumbled the ball quite a bit. I'm fine with the lack of character development and surface-level premise because, after all, 95% of extreme horrors follow that path. What struck me was how it just felt like a mish mosh of scenes that were attempted to be put together. The sexual content was ok, but didn't go far enough, if you ask me. There were some great opportunities to get really vulgar there, making a consistent plot point of the evil spirits wanting to mutilate the female characters in really awful, deviant ways. And Ericmore had some of that, but kept reverting back to just pure sex, in nature, which didn't make a whole lot of sense. There was also a strange plot twist, of sorts, around the halfway point, which was completely unnecessary, too, and seemed to be quickly forgotten. The whole affair just felt like there was no real flow or overarching, established concept here, which really hurt the entire experience. Again, I like Ash Ericmore a helluva lot, but this was just way too disjointed to be more enjoyable. A good content editor was desperately needed to fine-tune and tighten everything up.
Everything we've grown to love about Ash Ericmore, and then some! No spoilers from me, you have to see for yourself what the and then some could possibly be... Coming from this author, the list could be pretty long! Muahaha
Proceed with caution! Somewhat graphic, and a bit unsettling at times. This book had me saying omg out loud, while shaking my head no, every couple of pages. Quite the eye opener!
A great extreme haunted house novella. This has some really creepy stuff happening. Filled with tons of gore. The Giant Baby and The Bound Man were so unsettling.
This. Was an exciting read, each page you read you wanted to read faster to see what would happen next. Some great characters, my favourite being the big baby. I'll let you find out why, but it has a very unusual and distinct feature. I loved the storyline, and what's better that extreme horror fans get to taste some extreme horror. But not quite what was expected. I'd definitely recommend to any horror fan, but be aware of your easily offended as some parts may not be to your taste, but hey it does warn you on the front cover. So rather than read and then hate. Take heed of the warning. But if you are a avid extreme horror fan, and not easily offended, then give this a go.
I couldn't get into this one. While i love haunted houses etc, the story characters and "villain" were thin and wispy. Some ok gore scenes. Maybe I'm jaded having been exposed to really amazing extreme horror authors around here ;) Although i LOVED the sick f*ck series from Ericmore.
That was a creepy read.. Seriously giant baby was terrifying. What's not to love ghosts, plenty of gore and an awesome story. I loved Sophie she got out through the wringer but she was a bad a$$.
A haunted house story unlike any you will have encountered before. The entities are simultaneously sinister, depraved and bizarre which combined forces the reader to live out the fever dream along with Sophie. The discovery is as gruesome as it is heartbreaking.

Not the best, I’ve read a lot of horror and extreme horror and this just didn’t do it for me, seemed like it was written by a young teenager in English class! Swearing doesn’t bother me, gore and horror obviously don’t bother me but poor writing does. This book was just a thrown together mess with swear words placed here and there for the sake of it and the descriptions of what was happening were very poor, storyline seemed rushed and didn’t really make that much sense.
Won’t be reading anything else from this author, defiantly much better out there!
*I'm not going to give you the 'what this book is about' blurb - you can read that elsewhere.
1. I think this is my favorite Ash that I've read to-date. Which is saying a lot because I have loved everything of his! 2. If you've been around a while you know I love a good haunted house trope 👻🏚. This one was ACTION PACKED and had a few unique (to me anyway) details that I've not seen in previous books. 3. I read 'You Are Invited' by Sarah A. Denzil back in early 2021 and I loved it, I think about the story frequently and actually might re-read it this winter; Hodder House has a number of similar elements to that book. If You Are Invited impregnated Lee Mountford's Haunted series, which I also loved, their child would be Hodder House. All of that is to say: 4. If you like a modern haunted house story with graphic violence, I highly recommend this book!
Lots of good and nasty things in this one! Ash Ericmore's 'Hodder House' is a wonderful mix of extreme horror and a haunted house story, with Ericmore's trademark scenes of depravity, bizarre violence, and sex-fueled villainy. It's rather short, so there's not much to be said without spoiling the surprises, but one thing I can say is that the sinister haunting is really, really well done, the ghosts being some of the worst entities I've ever read about this side of existence (they even have creepy names: "The Giant Baby" and "The Bound Man.") The ending promises more gore and more brutality; here's hoping sooner rather than later!
This is the second Ericmore book that I've read. I like how the blurb warned: 'Consider this s trigger warning for just about everything'. With a line like that, I expected so much more violence. I've read stories that were more graphic without any warnings. With that being sad, there's nothing wrong with this story. It's fine. Haunted house/ supernatural with a few scenes of gore. It just didn't hit the mark that blurb warned of.
This is my first book by this author and I enjoyed it. Gory, brutal and a fun read. I do wish we got to learn more about the other characters besides Sophie and I’m dying to know if they ever got to Will after they escaped. The book gives me 13 Ghosts vibes with the names of the two ghosts. I definitely will be reading more by Ericmore.
A mostly solid story filled with gore and disturbing themes. Sometimes a little uneven and disjointed, but an easy recommendation for anyone who wants to read twisted, sadistic horror. Definitely a good Halloween read!
Ash Ericmore is a storyteller that will keep you at the edge of your seat, the entire read. I couldn't put the book down and a quick read to get through. Packed with horror and plenty of gore to keep the reader intrigued with what's to come next.
I would recommend this book to any fan of supernatural themed extreme horror or splatterpunk. Tons of trigger warnings as usual from this fabulous author... definitely one to catch up on and keep an eye on! Love, love, love it!
Absolutely amazing book, incredibly graphic and twisted but somehow that's what makes it interesting, it draws you in and makes you want to keep seeing where it goes next
This was such a creepy quick read, I couldn’t put it down! It gave me a 13 Ghosts kinda vibe. I’m definitely checking out more from this author. Tons of TW's so read at your own discretion.
