It’s a perfect deal: 1. Follow his (overprotective) rules. 2. Take good care of Sadie. 3. Walk away at the end of the summer.
No problem! Right?
There’s a big problem. I caught feelings for Max, the sexy lumberjack dad. Flirting turned into a secret affair. Now I’m carrying around more than a broken heart. I have a little secret that’s Max’s and mine.
How can I go ahead with the deal and walk away, when I’m carrying his baby?
The Lumberjack’s Nanny is the third standalone book in the Rockford Falls Romance series. Whether you want forbidden lovers, secret babies, or second chances, this series has it all. Just grab a glass of something cold because these sexy alphas and their fabulous leading ladies are sure to leave you hot and bothered in all the right ways! And don’t forget, a sweet HEA is always included!
So I am not completely against it. I just found the connection between Rachel & Sadie bigger & better executed than between Rachel & Max. Max was so remote, and really hard to warm up to. Sadie a total sweetheart. Rachel was hard working and sweet. Their romance just didn’t feel like a romance to me. Plus Max went warm, then cold & it was hard to see him going forward. 🤷🏻♀️
And I still don’t get the reason why he handled the ex the way he did. He had iron clad papers. Even the part added to the story, found that unnecessary. It needed a kick, some drama for sure, but I don’t think it made the story richer. And the pregnancy? The blurb made it seem like we had that drama for longer that we had. 🤷🏻♀️
I guess this book was just not up my alley. ☺️
Read: 22/12/2021 1st rating: 2 stars Genre/tropes: Contemporary romance/forbidden romance Cover: 3 stars POV’s: Dual -1st person (Max & Rachel) Will I recommend: No
The third book in the series brings Rachel and Max's story. The author does a fantastic job building the story and painting her scenes. She brings a slow burn romance when Rachel takes the nanny job taking care of Max's little girl ,Sadie. She pulled me in with all the emotions coming through the pages and had me hooked with all of the twists and turns along the way. Loved little Sadie and reading their story. Highly recommend this book.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
I loved Rachel in this story. She was so independent and such a loving person, especially to children. She was also saving her money to buy the diner she worked at when the owner was ready to sell. Rachel is so resilient that when the owner told her he had to sell soon because of his health, Rachel looked for another job to make up for the money she needed. Rachel had a good rapport with Sadie, Max’s six year old daughter. Max needed a nanny for the summer so Rachel asked if she could have the job. I felt bad for Max as he had hooked up with someone, she had his baby, and then signed over all rights to the baby to Max. Max was a great father and moved to the woods to raise Sadie. Max wanted to give Sadie a wonderful childhood and put all his efforts in his daughter. He was determined not to have anything to do with women as he didn’t want his daughter to see women come and leave. He was stubborn because he had feelings for Rachel, but wouldn’t do anything about it. It was interesting watching the three of them get closer while Max tried to deny his feelings. I encourage you to read the book. I was given a copy and voluntarily wrote a review.
This story was good I was into it for the most part Some parts were lacking on why they were at the point in their lives when the story began, could have been explained better. The ending was really rushed though….bing bang boom and all was ok, when just the page before, they were at odds.
I absolutely loved this book and was honored to have been able to read and review. It was such a phenomenal read and had amazing characters as well as an amazing story line. I just could not get enough of it and once I started reading it I could not put it down. I recommend that you read it.
This is a beautiful love story that shows how love can change a person for the better. Max is a man who has come from money had a bad experience with an ex and is a single dad who picked up his life and moves to a small town to raise his daughter, Sadie in a cabin while starting a new business working with wood. Rachel has grown up here and knew from the 1st time she worked at the diner she wanted to own it one day and make it hers. Rachel is known for her pies and customers come from neighboring towns to eat at the dinner and get her pies. One day Hal the owner tells Rachel he needs to sell earlier then he thought and she knows she needs to find a second job to get the money. Max has a nanny to help with Sadie but when she gives her notice he knows he needs to find a new one. Rachel figures out she can move her shifts to night and help watch Sadie during the days. Max is hesitant about the idea at first but comes around after having her over and seeing how well they get along outside the diner. Max is determined to stay single, raise his daughter on his terms and not let anything or anyone get in his way. Rachel has been attracted to Max from the first time she saw him come into the diner and Max knows Rachel is a beautiful woman and tries to keep their interactions professional that is until one night they both agree to spend the night together. The fireworks that take place leads them both to know it’s more than a causal night but Max puts his wall back up again and Rachel gets confused over how he ignores her for a while then is nice. When Max’s past comes back he is forced to act in an odd way and leaves town without notice to deal with it. Rachel is left without an explanation and is hurt. When the truth comes out Max knows he needs to tell the entire story to even have a chance with Rachel and to see how this out plays out is just one beautiful love story! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is an amazing and beautiful forbidden love story, first and foremost, and secondly, a powerful tale of two people finding acquiescence within themselves and with one another. This unputdownable story is also a shot of pure joy—a humorous exploration of family life, finding love, and the difficulties of coming into one’s own as a lumberjack and nanny. This is Max, Rachel and Sadie’s story. Rachel works in a diner, and she is saving her money to try to buy it from the owner when he retires. Max is a single father of his six year old daughter, Sadie, who he adores. Max is also and the owner of a lumber company, and he brings his daughter into the diner every week to eat. When Sadie’s nanny has to leave, Max is left with a dilemma—no nanny to watch Sadie. When Rachel hears of his problem, she volunteered to become Sadie or Sadie-Lady’s nanny—Sadie is delighted. Max and Rachel’s unexpected attraction to each other is so intense, but the chemistry like the one they have can only be denied for so long. Will Max and Rachel’s vulnerability and doubts get in the way of true love? Or will they be ale to keep up the charade of lumberjack (employer) and nanny (employee)? Find out what happened—what a conundrum! Natasha Black satisfies hearts longing for laughter and love in their stories as well as romantic ideas with artfully developed characters. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Max finally realizes happiness is not just for others, he can be happy too The Lumberjack’s Nanny: A Forbidden Romance (Rockford Falls Romance) by Natasha L. Black is a lovely forbidden romance without the forbidden feel. Max and Rachel have been dancing around each other, acquaintances really, until opportunity puts them directly in each other’s paths. Of all the Rockford Falls Romance books, I think Max and Rachel are my favorite couple. Rachel is independent, fully capable, with plans and ambition to get what she wants, but does not hold back with those she cares about. Max is utterly devoted to his little girl, Sadie (as he should be!) and it’s his swoon-worthy devotion that also contributes to his inability and unwillingness to be emotionally available. It’s clear from Max and Rachel’s repartee, that there is chemistry with the potential to burn hotter than the sun, if only given the chance. Overall, this forbidden nanny romance is hands down a highly enjoyable read for the characters. I was cheering this couple on and loving all the dialogue. Max will make you melt, Rachel is highly admirable and Sadie is beyond adorable. Add an intriguing storyline and this book ramps up the interest while leading us all to an extremely happy HEA. I read an ARC of this book and voluntarily share my review.
I loved this story of Rachel. She is loyal and very independent. When Hugh the owner of the diner tells her he has to sell the diner sooner than expected. Rachel didn’t have the down payment fully. She had to come up with plan to buy the diner she always wanted.Max was a lumberjack who would come in the diner with his daughter Sadie. Rachel always gave special attention to her. She treated Sadie like a little person and not a baby. Suddenly Sadie’s sitter Denise had to move away to take care of her mother. Max was in a bind and trying to find someone who could watch his child properly. Rachel talked to Max about caring for Sadie. With the income from watching Sadie she could have the down payment before August. Max was hiding how he felt about Rachel. He didn’t want anything to interrupt his child’s life. They got to know each other on another level. He could not hide his feelings for her any longer. Rachel enjoyed doing things with Sadie . She loved that little girl. She wanted Max so bad she had to hide it. When they got together explosive feelings happened that neither could deny. I loved this story. I was routing for them to be together. Amazing story. I’m glad they got it together.
Natasha L. Black brings us back to Rockford Falls for another great book! This is book three in the series and can be read as a standalone as there is just a few references to Laura, Brody & their baby and even fewer references to Trixie, Damon & their baby.
Written from Rachel and Max’s point of views, we get all the emotions and feelings the two of them have, even the ones they can’t express to each other. There is lust, attraction, tenderness, coldness, frustration, and more. Max is an overprotective father but he does it because he loves Sadie and wants to keep her safe. Jean express his love to her freely but struggles to accept that there is chemistry and lust between him and Rachel. Rachel is loving towards Sadie, giving her nicknames and encouraging her to eat vegetables before she even becomes the girls’ nanny. She can admit to friends she likes Max but won’t say anything to him.
The witty banter between Rachel and Max is funny, especially when Rachel is being sarcastic and felicitous. Hopeful they can work it out because they are good for each other and the three of them make a cute family.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and am voluntarily giving an honest review
Ugh. That's the short of it. Here's the long of it. This needed some intense editing. It could have been half as long as it was. Some of the conversations were so drawn out, I skimmed through the majority of them. Also, a princiPAL is in charge of a school, a princiPLE is everything else. A good editor would have caught that. This was written in first person, alternating between Rachel and Max's perspectives. At one point, it switched from his to hers out of nowhere, then back. Again, a good editor would have caught that. The "big" conflicting twist, felt so disingenuous, so forced. There was no sense of believability, for a book that felt like it was trying to be genuine and believable. The amount of pop culture references was staggering. And last, but certainly not least, Max is a complete douche bag. I understand a need to protect your daughter, but that shouldn't keep you from opening your mouth and talking to the woman you're banging without protection. Notice I didn't say woman you love. It was hard to believe either of them actually loved each other.
In conclusion, can I tell you how much I love it when an author makes both people finish at the exact same moment, in every single sex scene? (it's hard to tell sometimes, on the internet, but that was sarcasm)
I am really starting to enjoy all of the stories that I have read from Natasha Black. I love the fact that she doesn’t use a whole whole heap of sexual activity to fill in passages of her stories. Each story is well thought out and the characters are strong and loveable. Rachel is a waitress in a diner and is trying to get the funds together to purchase the diner so that she can be her own boss. Meanwhile Max and his daughter Sadie come to the diner every Tuesday to eat their dinner, Rachel has a huge crush on Max.
Rachel’s boss tells her that he is unwell and wants to sell the diner quickly and asks her if she has the money for it. Rachel is given the opportunity to be a nanny to Sadie so she can raise the extra money to buy the business, and a whole new life is opened up before her. A lot of drama becomes her life and feelings that Rachael can’t express in front of Sadie until Max decides that he wants her in his life. There is a happily ever after, but there’s also a lot of anxiety and I hope that he returns her feelings. Max realises that he needs Rachel
I was given an advanced copy of this book to read and review with my honest and fair opinion
Max had lived in New York working as a successful broker and had a healthy trust fund. But when circumstances found him a single father to a little girl, he wanted a healthy, wholesome upbringing for his daughter, with picnics and visits to the park. So he moved and created a whole new life, working as a self employed lumberjack, making handmade furniture in his spare time. Rachel had lived in Rockford Falls all her life and had worked in the towns diner since finishing high school. Her homemade pies were one of the main draws to the diner. Her aim was to save enough money to buy the diner from Hugh when he retired. Both Max and Rachel were attracted to each other, but circumstances kept them apart. But when Hugh moved his retirement date forward, leaving Rachel with a financial hole and Max’s childminder told him she was moving away, it looked like fate had decided to intervene. This was a well written and thoroughly enjoyable small town romance. All of the characters are likeable and Sadie, Max’s daughter is absolutely adorable. The chemistry between Rachel and Max is extremely steamy, especially after how long they’ve liked each other. Superb.
I love this book! Max is an intense and very disciplined man. He is very rigid with his life and is determined to give his little daughter, Sadie a better life than what he had. Rachel, a baker and diner manager with the need of more income becomes the kink in Max's armour. Their professional relationship of Father/Nanny is a lesson in control for Max and Rachel. I love the time Rachel spends with Sadie. They are so good together. Their conversations, their activities and their mutual like between Nanny and child is exceptionally written. With the time spent together, the obvious respect and admiration for each other, Max and Rachel, really begin to feel the attraction.
This is a beautiful story of love and family that gives you that warm feeling inside. The heat and sizzle between Max and Rachel enlists you to keep reading and wait for their happily ever after.

What would Rockford Falls be without Rachel, everyone’s favorite waitress. She’s going to own the diner soon, but that time comes sooner than she’s ready. She doesn’t have all of her seed money and she’s scrambling to get it. Then there’s Max. Big money, doesn’t need to work, single dad, hot as Hades lumberjack that Rachel looks forward to seeing sitting in her section with his daughter Sadie. Max is in a pickle too. His long-time nanny has to quit just as school is letting out for the summer and his busiest time of the year begins. Rachel gets the job making more than she expected and as hard fought as the battle was, the adults fall into a relationship they said they wouldn’t. Why should 2 consenting adults who care for each other and love this adorable little girl not try to make a go? Will a ghost from Max’s past make things impossible or will it make it more evident they belong together?
We are back in Rockford Falls and I love these books. Rachel works at a diner and has been saving up for a down payment to buy it when the owner retires. Max is originally from NYC and moved her so his daughter could grow up in a nice place and be able to run around and be a kid. These two need help to get what they want for the summer. Max needs a nanny to watch his daughter, and Rachel needs to make more money to buy the diner. What starts as a business arrangement turns into something more. I don’t know how many times I wanted to smack Max for his thinking, but it was quite a few times. There is drama, some angst, steamy scenes and dreams and some great friends adding their two cents in. This book made me lmao at the banter between the characters. You will see some familiar faces. Don’t miss out on this small town boss romance.
The Lumberjack's Nanny is the third book in the Rockford Falls Romance series and is the story of Rachel and Max and his young daughter Sadie. I really enjoyed this story as it is not the normal nanny/single father story but has a few twists to it. Rachel is a determined young woman who is working hard towards her goal of buying the diner she works at. Max is a single father to Sadie and in need of help in carrying for her. As Rachel and Max have known each other for years and Rachel and Sadie both like each other Rachel offers to be the summer nanny. The smexy starts to heat up between these two as the summer starts to heat up and before long they are burning up the sheets. But will it be a summer fling or something that lasts forever?

Wow!!! Max is gorgeous on the cover!! I loved reading The Lumberjack's Nanny: A Forbidden Romance (Rockford Falls Romance) by Natasha L. Black because the chemistry between Rachel and Max is so steamy. Max is a single dad taking care of his daughter and he gets into a bind for the summer. He is approached by Rachel who works in the café and she proposes an idea to help him out with his daughter. Max is super protective of his daughter. She is number one in his life, but he starts having feelings for Rachel. I really hoped that they would get together because of their chemistry. I was sent a free book and am choosing to leave this review. I would highly recommend reading this very steamy story about a lumberjack and the nanny!!!
Big bad lumberjack Max has a lot more secrets than anyone could guess. Rachel’s already fascinated by him; will they draw her in or push her away? I adored Rachel. She’s driven and independent and just has such a sunny nature. Max left me wanting to smack sense into him for a lot of the book. It takes a while, but he does finally figure out what it will take to make all of them happy. And Sadie is just the cutest most precocious little imp. I don’t think the book would have been quite as much fun if she’d been a different person. I really like Max and Rachel together, even though Max kept tossing all kinds of obstacles into his own way. I can’t wait to see what the author has planned next for the residents of Rockford Falls. I received a complimentary copy of this book through Booksprout.
The Lumberjack's Nanny is pretty typical of the genre but has enough going for it to still be quite entertaining. There were a couple of scenes that had me rolling my eyes but overall was well-paced.
The shining star has to be Sadie. She is the perfect mix of cuteness and sass that I loved! The connection and banter between Sadie and Rachel made this book for me. At one point I really liked Max, then I didn't, then I did again. I think Rachel was too quick to forgive since he didn't give an actual apology for his actions. She instantly went from being mad to being supportive and sympathetic even though he's the one who left without any explanation.

I loved this book. I also loved that we got to see some of the other characters in the series make a few appearances.
I received this book in advance for a voluntary honest review. Loved it! Lumberjack Max lives alone with his six year old daughter Sadie. Rachel is a waitress saving money to buy the diner and making delicious pies. The sparks and sexual tension between these two just through their interaction at the diner, but when Rachel agrees to change her hours to nanny for Sadie the heat is off the charts! Max has been hurt before and won’t let anyone come between him and his daughter, but is Rachel really just “anyone”? This book was a great read that was tough to put down. Sexy, sweet, emotional and funny.
Max is a typical overprotective single dad. His life revolves around his daughter Sadie and they live a comfortable life. All that is set to change when Max needs a temporary nanny for his daughter. Enter Rachel, she works at the local diner, makes the best pies and has a rapport with Sadie. She also needs the money the nanny job will bring. Even though slotting into their lives is easy, resisting the attraction between herself and Max isn’t. When the sparks fly, will Max have the courage to trust Rachel with both his and Sadie’s hearts? This is an enjoyable slow burning, heart warming story of life and love.
