Aspiring young physicists will discover an amazing group of inspiring scientists and memorable experiments in Physics for Kids , the third book of The Kitchen Pantry Scientist series.

Make a water rocket and engineer the perfect paper airplane. Play with mirror images. Use atmospheric pressure to push an egg into a bottle. Crush a mint to create a flash of light.

This engaging guide offers a series of snapshots of 25 scientists famous for their work with physics , from ancient history through today. Each lab tells the illustrated story of a scientist along with some background about the importance of their work, and a description of where it is still being used or reflected in today’s world.

A step-by-step experiment paired with each story offers kids a hands-on opportunity for exploring concepts the scientists pursued, or are working on today. Experiments range from very simple projects using materials you probably already have on hand, to more complicated ones that may require a few inexpensive items you can purchase online. Just a few of the incredible people and scientific concepts you'll

Galileo (b. 1564)
Play with pendulums

Sir Isaac Newton (b. 1642)
Center of gravity balancing trick

Albert Einstein (b. 1879)
Playground ball relativity

Stephen Hawking (b. 1942)
Collapsing stars and black holes

Christine Darden (b. 1942)
Engineer a perfect paper airplane

With this fascinating, hands-on exploration of the history of physics, inspire the next generation of great scientists.

I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.

Physics for Kids is a great dedication and information book about 25 short condensed autobiographies if famous Physicists (past and present) accompanied by illustrations and then experiments that can be easily conducted at home with your child relating to the physicist. Each experiment is explained in easy to follow steps and all experiments seem to be suitable for at home learning and suitable for the age range this book is aimed at. I can't wait to do some of these at home with my daughter myself very soon!

Disclaimer: I received a review copy from Netgalley in exchange for a review.

Fantastic book! My 5-year-old loves it, I love it. Each concept is accompanied by a short introduction and information about a relevant historical or current scientist (and not all white men, either!). This is followed by easy-to-follow instructions for experiments appropriate for children. I've read quite a few kids' science experiment books recently, and this one is one of the best I've seen. It goes beyond baking soda & vinegar volcanoes - even to some experiments I haven't seen in other books. I'm going to wait to do some of them until my son is older, but there are definitely some here that even a 5-year-old can do with parental supervision. This is a nice addition to any hands-on science activity book collection.

I love this entire series so much! We have The Kitchen Pantry Scientist Biology for Kids: Science Experiments and Activities Inspired by Awesome Biologists, Past and Present; Includes 25 Illustrated Biographies of Amazing Scientists from Around the World and The Kitchen Pantry Scientist: Chemistry for Kids: Homemade Science Experiments and Activities Inspired by Awesome Chemists, Past and Present and I highly recommend those as well.

This science activity book stands above others in the genre. The activities are all on-theme, engaging, fun, and easy to follow along. The book contains concepts that are fascinating for both children and adults to learn about. The step-by-step instructions are easily spelled out and contain photographs to help guide you along. Each experiment is explained in nice detail AND the best part is that each experiment is paired with a specific real-person Physicist and their field of study. I love the pairing of history and science--learn about Sir Isaac Newton and gravity, Thomas Young and wave theory, Stephen Hawking and black holes, Michael Faraday and electromagnetic induction. There are 25 biographies + labs in all!

The illustrations and graphics included are wonderfully done. There is even a nice section at the end that includes resources for additional websites and information to explore on each topic.

Love this book, love the series!

As a huge fan of The Kitchen Pantry Scientist series, I was SO excited to see this book in my latest review box from Quarto Kids. (Thanks so much Quarto!) Physics for Kids is another stellar book that perfectly combines science experiments and activities with biographies of 25 Physicists from the Past and Present. For me, the addition of the biographies is what sets this series apart from other science experiment books. Learning about an expert in their field and how they apply the different physics concepts just brings this book to life.
The books is beautifully illustrated and also includes wonderful photographs of the experiments in action. Another thing that stood out to me is the inclusion of so many women scientists. I was introduced to so many amazing scientists I had very little or zero knowledge of.
I would absolutely recommend this book and the others in the series to anyone looking to add some exciting science fun to their lessons. Also, would be the perfect gift for any kiddo with a passion for science and scientists. So well done.

When I was a junior in high school, I took physics. I HATED this class, found it difficult, irrelevant and uninteresting. How good would it have been to be exposed to a book like Physics for Kids long before then! I might have felt completely differently.

Inside this title are all kinds of experiments and activities that are designed to engage kids. Here is information about many scientists, among them Galileo, Sir Isaac Newton, Pierre Curie and Albert Einstein for some household names and others whom I did not know including Katharine Burr Blodgett, Ruby Payne Scott and Lise Meitner to name just three. (Kudos for including women) After each scientist is introduced, there is a well illustrated experiment for kids to try. For example, after reading about Thomas Young and wave theory, do the experiment entitled Light Interference and observe wave patterns in water and then experiment with fringe patterns created by light waves as they move through slits.

I highly recommend this book for school and home libraries. It is well geared to STEM studies.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this book. All opinions are my own.

This book of brief bios of famous and not so famous physicists that includes a lab based on what that particular physicist discovered or worked on. Most of the labs contact items that can be found in most homes and use step by step instructions with colored photographs. The most interesting thing about this book is its honesty about some the women physicists who started appearing in the 19th and 20th centuries and how the men they worked got credit for the work they did and were awarded Nobel Prizes. The book also includes physicists of color. The book has a glossary and references and resources pages. Recommend to middle grade readers who like science and STEM experiements.

I own and love Liz's other books in this series, and this one, like the others, is fantastic! Each lab spotlights a particular scientist and then includes a fairly easy to set up lab with step by step instructions and pictures. While the labs are not terribly labor intensive for parents, they are diverse and intriguing, easily illustrating the concept it is covering. The book is intuitive to use and interesting for both parents and children to read. These books are an essential in our homeschool library and we will definitely have to add this edition, once published in paperback, as well!

Another fabulous book for children which makes the understanding of principles science/physics easy and fun. Whilst channeling the scientists such as Stephen Hawkings, Sir Isaac Newton, Galileo and Christine Darden to name just a few, The children get to try out safe and easy experiment to understand the theories, such as gravity, light, relativity, friction and aerospace and many more.
This is a fabulous book, and I think some adults would also gain a fair bit from this very basic book. Easy to understand, safe testing of theories and a load of fun..

Fantastic book for home school parents, after school science clubs or Grandmothers like me who want to do creative activities with their grandchildren. I grew up in an era when science was boring. This is fun and breaks down physics in a way that is easy to understand for kids.
Highly recommend to parents and educators alike!

This would be a great book for homeschooling or to help a teacher introduce easy science. Chapters spotlight an inventor then an easy step by step experiment to identify what they explored. Anyone could do these activities and they are geared for children. Five stars for a great interactive book!

I received a complimentary copy to look at and voluntarily left this review!

Very very cool!! A great way for kids to learn about physics and easy experiments to try at home. Step by step instructions (with pictures) were easy to follow. My kids did most on their own.
