Way Too Close (A New Generation)

Features Xochitl and Alex aka Lex Moreno (Major alpha)

They say opposites attract, but what happens when two equally surly and short-fused individuals, already laced with past sexual tension, are forced to coexist in a matter that’s Way Too Close for comfort?

When the self-proclaimed misanthropist and overachiever Xochitl meets her dormmate’s younger brother, there’s no way she’s falling prey to the smooth-talking little flirt. Her grumpy ass has been warned enough about his player ways to know better, and she ain’t having it.

But after being witness to his butterfly-inducing sweet side, she lets her guard down and is completely sucked in—only to be mortified when she finds out he’s exactly what she was warned about and vows never to fall for his game again.

Alex “Lex” Moreno is not used to indifference from girls. So, when he meets his sister’s aloof dormmate, who seems almost annoyed by his attempts to charm her, his interest is piqued like never before. Just when he thinks he’s turned it around and manages to gain her trust, life throws a wrench in his plans and ruins everything.

When he finally gets a chance to prove he’s not who she thinks he is, he’s determined to get it right. Despite his short fuse, they get past a few near blowups. But nothing prepares them for the ultimate betrayal neither would’ve ever imagined.

Love this new series. I have come to expect those strong alpha males in Elizabeth’s books but she has gone deeper with bringing in their more emotional side to these men. This couple had some big obstacles to get over but found their way to each other for HEA. The little glimpses into the other Moreno clan is just an extra bonus.

The chemistry between Lex and Xochitl is off the charts! In true Moreno style, Lex is the whole package and throw in Xochitl's stubborn, spitfire attitude and well, there is never a dull, but lots of hold your breath, heartbreaking and laugh out loud moments, in this book. I was so looking forward to more "Nena and Vannah pranks" in this book and boy did Elizabeth deliver!! Loved it!! Oh and don't forget the Moreno family get togethers and functions that always brings about drama in some way especially with our favourite "Uncles" there! And to have that "certain" someone get what they deserved ,the way they got it, yep nothing sweeter! 10/10 from me!

This New Generation Series from Elizabeth Reyes is intense. I Love these young men who cherish and protect their mothers, sisters, and significant others. The young females are spirited and unafraid to stand up for what is right. When these young alpha males lay claim to their chosen ones all the magic and fun that ensues makes for the most entertaining of stories.

Way Too Close is the story of Lex Moreno and Xochitl Etzli. They are an unlikely coupling of personalities who share a stubbornness that makes for one of the most interesting relationships I have encountered lately.

Elizabeth Reyes' strength as an author is in letting, us , the readers, tap directly in to the strong emotions of each character. She has, again, proven that strong personalities who have quick tempers can reign in those emotions to get past the negative and on to the very real passion that bonds them.

Xochitl and Lex's attraction is instant and enduring. It is all kinds of interesting to watch them their pasts, their insecurities, and a few inopportune moments so that they can explore and enjoy each other. Their story also includes a few taboo-ish elements that make it all the more enticing and riveting.

I cannot wait for the next book in this next-generation series. I love seeing the appearances of old and new characters and the changes they have experienced. There are truly some unforgettable moments. I adore the mix of nostalgia and new adventures contained in these books. The excitement and drama Elizabeth Reyes conjures in her novels is beyond addictive to this reader. Her grasp of human nature and interaction is a rare gift and an enviable asset which she generously shares with us.

Way too close is everything I expected from a Reyes novel, she never disappoints her readers!

Alex aka Lex (son of Alex & Valerie) and just like his dad, is a total ladies man and VERY protective of his loved ones especially his woman.

Xochitl (still have problems pronouncing that 😬😬) is a straight tell it as it is overachiever. She gave Lex beans with her independence. At one point her personality took a 180 and I was like wtf is happening here 🤨 but then 💡 Ooohhhhhh that makes sense.

There are instances throughout the book that made reference to occurrences that occurred in past books ie Beast and I believe it’s Forever Mine. So if you haven’t read those yet then I recommend you do.

The new gen kids can give the OG crew a run for their money, they are so next level. And I can’t wait to read more!

It was good. I loved, loved, loved Lex like I do all the Morenos. I don't know about Adam though, we'll have to see how he behaves in his own book and if he can redeem himself in my eyes. As to Soch, well even though she was the elder of the pair, she really got on my last nerve with her naivetés. I really wanted to smack some sense into her sometimes.

Good read, I couldn't put it down once I started it. Lex's intensity and openness really pulled me in from the beginning. I did noticed that some of the plots in the storyline causing conflicts between the pair were the same ones from the very first ever Moreno book "Forever Mine". Not necessarily a bad thing, just makes you wonder if its simply a Moreno male thing or history simply repeating itself.

Happy readings!

conflicted

I usually love Elizabeth Reyes books but with this one I’m very conflicted. I liked reading about the new gen but I I loved that the original characters were very involved. I however was not a big fan of Xochilt. I highly dislike her double standards. For such a smart person she really behaved naively,
irresponsibly and at times very immaturely. I found it very hard to stay focused on the book and I ended up skipping a lot of it.

Loved!

What a great addition to this series! Older woman with younger guy. I thought Lex was going to mess this up. Xochitl was a fire cracker, she definitely said it how it was and never held back. Their story had me emotional for a minute. Elizabeth always captivates me with her words, I could never get enough of her books! I'm greedy I always want more from her characters. Excited for next book in series!
