Mrs. Pepperpot has a problem—a huge problem—she shrinks! And when she shrinks she finds herself in all sorts of trouble. When Mrs. Pepperpot agrees to mind baby Roger from next door, she doesn't know that she's going to shrink. How can she look after him when she's only as tall as a pepperpot? Baby Roger thinks she's a doll and jiggles and joggles her and throws her high in the air. Will Mrs. Pepperpot be able to keep the baby out of mischief until his mother comes to get him?

In this book Mrs Pepperpot is asked by her neighbour to look after her baby. Mrs Pepperpot agrees and takes the baby indoors. As soon as she shuts the door Mrs Pepperpot shrinks and is smaller than the baby! She tries to keep the baby occupied but that isn’t easy when the baby thinks she is a doll and keeps throwing her through the air; The children found this part paricularly funny.
This story is an ideal starting point for talking about baby safety and the responsibilities of looking after young children and keeping them safe. I have shared this book with a reception class and they enjoyed telling me about their own experiences with younger siblings. It could also be used in KS1.
Such a comical tale that has you teetering on the edge of pure horror and hilarity. As a child I just found the story funny and enjoyable, but reading it again as an adult had me cringing lolz!
