Confession: I have often wondered about mediums. From Sylvia Browne to John Edward; Theresa Caputo to Tyler Henry; were they/are they real, fake, somewhere in between? Was it okay/is it okay, as a Christian, for me to watch them on television? I've been a skeptic but also somewhat of a believer; that when Haley Joel Osment said, "I see dead people", in the movie "The Sixth Sense", I believed it was possible! However, I also believe the things that haunt us are not godly.
I've never sought out a psychic reading or that of a medium. The reason being: My faith. Although I'd love to hear from my grandparents, uncles, and aunt again, I clearly have heard from God that I already know everything I need to know. Meaning, they loved me, they still do, they always will. I have cards and letters they signed and wrote and myriads of pictures to prove it.
The separation, the grieving, seems to be relentless at times but as a believer in Jesus Christ, who has come from a long, blessed line of believers, I also know life as a Christian is never-ending. My loved ones last breath on earth was their first breath in heaven and I will be reunited with them again; but, more importantly, we'll all be reunited together under the banner of God's love and grace where we can freely cheer and celebrate the life and love of Jesus Christ.
Why is this book, "The Jesus Contact", so impactful? It confirms Scripture. It solidifies it. It makes it clear in a present-day context and terms.
It showcases real-life scenarios as lived out by the author herself. It brings to light how easy it is to connect with spirit guides and fall into the practice of "New Age" belief systems, how the devil himself can appear as light, good, kind, and caring; but, they all flee at the sight and sound of Jesus Christ! The light and kindness seemingly found within those spirit guides and "New Age" belief systems are steeped in deception meant to lead you astray; and, any light or goodness they project is a mere shadow of the pure light, goodness, kindness, caring, and LOVE of Jesus Christ and His Father, (Our Father), God.
All those who are seeking truth will encounter it within the pages of "The Jesus Contact". All those who are seeking to know more about Jesus Christ, you will learn more about Him here. We all have an opportunity to seek after Him and to hear His voice. Rest assured, He is close at hand.
*I received an advance review copy, via Reedsy Discovery, in exchange for my honest review.
There are a good amount of stories out there where people explain their meeting with Jesus. Most of those stories meet Jesus as they're dying but that's not the case in this one.
This is a book you'll be able to read in one sitting and it was told well. Almost as if you're sitting in a coffee shop with the author and she's explaining the story to you. There are plenty of lessons and Bible references in this short read though the information isn't thrust upon you in an obnoxious way. It all makes sense and it's spiritual as well as inspirational.
If you believe in miracles and things beyond us then this is an enlightening read.
This book was earnest, to be sure, An easy and accessible read from someone who believes their story wholeheartedly. For that, I have immense respect and hold a great deal of awe for.
What I liked most about this book is its simplicity. Aside from the fact that it is all true, is written as the author recalls it--there are still genuine lessons to be learned within its pages. The reader is able to take from it what they want, what they need. While heavily religious, the lessons are still those of universal beliefs that all people can access if they choose to.
One woman's inspiring story navigating life, love, and Jesus.
‘Over the Crystal Ball: A spiritual journey of paranormal experiences, divine encounters, overcoming darkness, and connecting with the One True Light,’ by Linda K. Miller, is an uplifting, inspirational autobiography that seeks to ask the question, “do you believe paranormal experiences are possible?”
Miller’s story begins a dream she had at the age of seventeen that turned out to be a premonition of a very real, albeit, benign event involving a visit from a family friend. From there, Miller embarked on an open-ended search for answers as a young woman in search of an explanation for the strange happenings occurring in her life.
This quest ultimately led the Michigan-based author down a series of paths, but after dabbling in everything from books and teachings to psychics, it was ultimately a visit from none other than Jesus Christ himself that provided Miller with the sense of purpose she’d so desperately searched for.
At the heart of it all, ‘Over the Crystal Ball’ is a story about the pursuit of faith. From beginning to end, Miller leans heavily on Christian teachings, citing her visit from Jesus Christ as not only the turning point in her life, but also urging readers to find and strengthen their own connection with their faith. Obviously, how this message sits with you will most likely be directly proportional to how closely Miller’s perspective on faith aligns with your own.
That being said, the combination of Miller’s polished writing and her truly remarkable life makes for a compelling read regardless of your spiritual leanings. While the author’s ‘message’ occasionally feels a bit heavy-handed, dipping into the waters of pontification from time to time, her heart is in the right place. I’m sure most readers will be able to identify with the author’s ‘search’ and desire to find a sense of meaning in a world that sometimes feels meaningless.
Part autobiography, part inspirational journey, ‘Over the Crystal Ball’ is recommended for fans of faith-based biographies.
This is the true story of Linda K. Miller who as a teenager began to have vivid dreams that came true. As she grew older, her dream premonitions became more frequent and vivid causing her much distress. Eventually, through meditation, she discovered her spirit guardians and then during one of her visions, she found herself with Jesus Christ. As she grows into adulthood and her relationship with Christ deepens to the point of hearing God's voice, the author discovers that she is called to tell her story. This heartfelt work of the author's experiences with the paranormal is filled with her Christian testimony. Though at first she doesn't understand her gift, it is with the direction and grace of God that she comes to see it as a gift from God. Through the writing of this book, she brings her story to an audience, and it is a fascinating one. Readers of all religious persuasions will be captivated by this story.
Over the Crystal Ball was a fun read, and I wouldn’t have minded if it went on a little longer. I’ve often had dreams that come true, some quickly and some years later, so I was especially interested as I started reading. Of course, I’ve had plenty of dreams that didn’t come true, so I never know when to believe them. It’s also been too long since I thought about the teachings of Jesus and his words are so inspiring, even if you don’t believe in his religion, that it’s worth spending some time learning. One thing I wish the author went into more was how to test the spirits. Is it only that they mention Jesus? Anyway, I enjoyed it and recommend it to anyone that wants to connect with their spiritual side.
The Jesus Contact is for believers and unbelievers, for those who have had spiritual experiences and does who have not. Coming from someone who has also encountered spirits from darkness and light, her testimony was a relief, it is so insightful and real, it gives you the realization of the dangers of the metaphysical and new age practices, but also of the unmatchable power of the name of Jesus! I thank God for her sharing her story! Truly recommend
