This was definitely one of them books that you want to read for way longer, at only 121 pages it leaves you wanting so much more. The author has written this book absolutely perfectly I was completely hooked on it! If you are a fan of romcom books then I would highly recommend this book !
In this book we meet Gabby Marshall , she is a wonderful sweet character that you can definitely connect with during the book. She is turning her life round after a huge disaster in her life , she is determined to put her mind, heart and soul into her new career and won't let any sign of romance enter her life... well that is until the gorgeous Theo Jorgenson keeps crossing her path! Can she find happiness?
This is a book that is so easily to demolish in one sitting, you don't want to stop reading it and even though it is a quite short book you quickly get invested in Gabby's life. It flows with elegance and ease throughout the book and is a joy to read!
I didn't realize this was a novella (observation skills: 0 today) so everything was over way too soon! I wanted more. Fun characters with the set up for more stories. I'm looking forward to reading them. Content: mild swearing, kissing
Thanks for the Love Thankful Series Book One: A Novella by: Melissa Baldwin
Sunny Miami, Florida is the setting for a delightful romantic comedy by Melissa Baldwin. Meet Gabby, Lila, and Reagan, three young career women roommates who share a gorgeous, bright home, complete with swimming pool and hammock. Baldwin's story of their adventures in life, love and career is fresh, contemporary, and so entertaining.
As the first in the Thankful Series, this novella spotlights Gabby, who moved to Miami for a clean start after a hurtful break up. She's ready to focus on her career, with a position at Fun in the Sun Realty. So, with a new city, home, roommates, and job, her future looks bright. A neighbor named Theo, his friend, Dr. Sims, and Chef Dante emerge on the scene to round out the charming ensemble cast of characters.
This story is just the right size for an enjoyable afternoon or evening of pleasurable, light-hearted reading. Gabby, although smart and motivated, is accident prone and funny, making her so relatable and endearing. Baldwin keeps the lively plot moving easily forward, and there's never a dull moment with the three roomies. The atmosphere of Miami is a vibrant, modern backdrop. I could envision the three women in the beautiful home, relaxing sharing the events of their days over a charcuterie board and beverages. I can't help but wonder if there is a fourth bedroom for me to join these women and get in on the fun! With anticipation, I look forward to the next three books in the Thankful series.
In this novella, our main character is Gabby. She is a real estate agent that has recently relocated from Orlando to Miami because her fiancé has been having an affair with her best friend! Yikes On that!!
Gabby finds herself living in a beautiful house with two great roommates, Lil and Reagan. She swears off men after the fiancé fiasco but a handsome next door neighbor named Theo, who seems to always be at the right place at the right time, may change all that.
There is another slight problem for a budding romance. Lil, the roommate that owns the house, has an ax to grind with Theo for an incident that happened years ago.
My Thoughts
I have read other books by Melissa and enjoy the easy, sweet, clean reads that her books provide. This book stays true to form and I absolutely love that.
This book has a group of young professionals that are all just lovely. I think each of the characters lend a sense of community and support in this book which makes for an uplifting read.
A fun (but too short) novella about starting over after a major disaster in your life. There was a groom and best friend and a move a couple hundred miles away from family, friends, and that drama. The author did a great job of telling the story without dwelling on negatives unnecessarily and focusing on positives. The characters were easy to understand and relate to their pasts. I laughed and winced along with the main character, Gabby, and enjoyed the characters in her present life. Some good friendships and a sweet romance added laughter and the right amount of romance. Definitely a book I would recommend to readers from young adult and older. Sometimes I need to read a fun book that gives me a reality break, yet isn't outrageous. I laughed as I read this and just wished it were longer. It put a smile on my face!
Thanks for the Love is a novella length contemporary romance by Melissa Baldwin.
I think this was very beautifully written especially with the character development and the thing that I liked the most about this book was it's organic ending - Theo and Gabby made a good pair and the fact that they decided to give the relationship a chance rather than declaring their undying love towards the end made it a hella realistic for me.
Review It's been a little while since I read my last Melissa Baldwin book and now I'm desperate to get back in to them.
At 121 pages this is a quick easy read that is set in the sunshine and is filled with some real laugh out loud moments.
The book gives you some of the girls' background ready for the next two books in the series. It's a cute heartwarming read that leaves you wanting more. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I originally read this as part of the Love in the City anthology by a bunch of favorite rom-com authors and then got it again on its own.
Gabby's life in Orlando is turned upside-down when she's planning her dream wedding, only to find out that her best friend and fiance have been having an affair for the past year. [And I feel like I could write a book of thoughts on that kind of betrayal, but I'll restrain myself.] She uses family connections to land a new job as a real estate agent in Miami. One of her new coworkers needs a roommate, so things are starting to fall into place nicely.
I admire Gabby for being able to pick up and move to a new city. I know from personal experience that it is not easy. And in spite of her troubles, she has given herself a clear idea of what she wants to focus on, namely her career to start, and no men.
But best-laid plans and all ... Gabby is one of those awkwardly accident-prone girls who gets herself into strange predicaments. She is my soul sister. But falling out of a hammock introduces her to her gorgeous neighbor, Theo, and makes her forget her one goal.
And I can't blame her. He is gorgeous, a good cook, intuitive, and genuinely kind. Sure, he and Gabby's roommate Lila don't like each other at all, but they have their reasons, and he gives off no sinister vibes.
They always say that you find your true love when you're not looking. And it feels like this could be the case here. But we have to wait for the next installment in the series to find out. Their story ends a little abruptly for me, though on a good note and not a cliffhanger. That's the one thing that I don't like about these anthologies at times. Just as I'm really getting into a story, it has to end. BUT my appetite is whet for the next installment. You know there is more to come with Gabby and Theo. Lila is still pining for her ex, Cal, who is Theo's best friend. And their other roomie Reagan has the hots for a local chef, Dante, whom she knew in college. The stage is set for a fun upcoming series and I'm looking forward to reading it.
Thanks for the Love is a short and easy read and wonderful introduction to a linked series. This was such a fun novella and my only complaint was that it needed so quickly. I would have loved to have read Gabby’s story in a longer book and I am hoping we get updates in the other novels from The Thankful Series. Gabby has moved from Orlando to Miami to begin a new life. She is starting a new job at a real estate agency, sharing an amazing house with 2 new friends and soaking up all that Miami has to offer including Theo – the dishy neighbour next door. But men weren’t part of the plan, were they? I loved everything about this book and I read it on one sitting. I had to keep reading to know what happened. Miami sounds amazing and for a short while I was transported there and to Gabby’s amazing house. There are a few funny moments and I loved that Gabby was a bit of a walking disaster. It was great to be introduced to Raegan and Lil too who feature in future novels. All the girls share a house but have very different personalities that compliment each other. I’m looking forward to see how their relationships grow. Theo was a also very sweet and yummy. I cannot wait to indulge in the rest of the series. I highly recommend giving this series a go – they’re funny, uplifting and a fab escape.
This was a well-written beginning of a love story between Gabby and Theo. Gabby has just moved to Miami from Orlando after being betrayed by her ex and her best friend. She’s starting over, and men don’t figure into her plans. But Theo ends up being the next door neighbor who startles her out of a hammock and makes her hurt her wrist. And when they keep bumping into each other, he starts to startle her heart out of grief. I really thought this story had lots of potential, but it ended too quickly. I believe it’s a jump-off story to lure you into reading more about the characters, not a fully finished arc like the other books in this anthology. But I wanted a better HEA for the characters. I felt there was SO much potential for a good plot twist to add dramatic tension into their story before they got together, but it didn’t happen. Little clues dropped in earlier in the story never panned out. But overall, a good read. I believe these characters will be fleshed out in future books.
This book is so swoony, so cute and such a fun read. Love the Meet cutie way Gabby and Theo met. Heart melting! I always get all giddy whenever they meet/get together. You can just sense the spark/fire between them. Theo is a dreamy guy...so caring and so charming. The reason why Gabby's roommate hates Theo is really intriguing made the whole story much more fun. Spiced things up.
It was hard for Gabby to just focus on her career with Theo around. She tried to not fall for him but it was hard because he's always there when she needs help. How can you not fall for such a dependable hot guy. The ending was sweet and short ….needed more so I believe there's a part 2 coming soon! Can't wait!! This book will keep you all Swoony and smiling….beginning til the end. Love it! A definite must read.
Oh to be young and in Love. This is a series of three books the first one is Thanks for the Love, the second Thank for the Memories and third is Thanks for the Friendship. Thanks for the Love is a cute romance read that you can sit and read in day. One Girl Two Guys do they end up being friends to Lovers out Friends to enemies .
I enjoyed reading this quick, sweet read. I liked how the characters were able to move on from difficult situations. This book includes fun characters, sweet romance and swoony kisses. Great story!
I enjoyed this Novella, I wish it had been longer. I need more Gabby's adventures, she is so clumsy that she had me smiling. I can't wait to read the next 2 in this series.
I absolutely love this author but this book easily average. I will definitely be reading more from her. Just felt like this story was missing something
Cute romance with a too good to be true hero but, hey, there are good people out there like Theo, right? What sold me is the friendship between the three roommates. #squadgoals
I enjoyed reading about the three young women becoming coworkers and roommates. Putting the past behind and taking a chance again with Theo. Now on to book2.
Thank you to @rachelsrandomresources for my copy of this book.
This was a quick cosy read and the first book in the Thankful series. It introduces us really nicely to Gabby, Lila and Reagan, housemates in Miami.
This book concentrates on Gabby and how she came to be living in Miami. We learn a lot about her in this novella, written with humour and romance in abundance. Quite different to the books I’ve read recently, and a refreshing change.
I’m enjoying this series and can’t wait to read the rest
A cute, novella sized read to kick off the Thankful series.
With a theme of finding yourself & love in a new city, I found this a cute, enjoyable read. It's characters are adorable, Gabby is such a realistic, relatable character & Theo every girl's dream.
It was just too damn short, I would love to have read more about their story.
Looking forward to touring the rest of the series.
Many thanks to Rachel's Random Resources for my tour spot.
Gabby has a lot of courage! After getting her heart broken, she moves away from the life she’s known in Orlando, which means leaving behind the family and friends who have been her support system even through the worst of times. She picks back up in Miami, but it means an entirely new environment, a new job as a real estate agent, and moving in with roommates she doesn’t know. While reading about her experiences with all of this, I kept reflecting on the fact that Gabby has been completely uprooted, and I appreciated how that was reflected well. So much change all at once isn’t easy for anyone, particularly after already dealing with damaging hurt.
Coming from a background of property management, I really enjoyed Gabby’s experiences in the real estate world, and when she describes the people she works with, there was one character in particular who reminded me of Christine from the Netflix show, Selling Sunset. It made for an interesting work environment for Gabby. Through all of her endeavors, I loved how Theo was thrown into the mix of it all, only raising the stakes on her happiness and giving her pause. Should she continue to focus solely on her career? Is she ready to even entertain the idea of starting a new relationship with someone, so soon?
It doesn’t help that one of her roommates loathes Theo. It seems there were a lot of miscommunicated moments that led to that, and Gabby isn’t sure if she should have loyalty to Theo, or the roommate.
I really enjoyed Gabby’s story, and seeing the growth progression that comes from her. Even though she has completely “rerolled” her life, she’s making it work as best as she can, despite the lows, because they might lead to eventual highs. There’s another novella in the Thankful series that came out in May, and I’m looking forward to reading it!
