After a string of ho-hum and not-good reads, here waltzes in Terri Brisbin to save the day. This book is actually a melding of two series which could have been a disaster but somehow Brisbin spins a yarn that doesn't have my eyes crossing over unnecessary or uninteresting secondary players. I loved everything about the world-building in this romance and it stands alone very well.

An incident from their childhoods leads to hard and hurt feelings between the hero and heroine - but this is a medieval, alliances are important, and yes, they're betrothed. The fly in the ointment besides the simmering old grudge is that the heroine is hiding a big secret that she feels makes her wholly unsuitable to be a future laird's wife. And she's not wrong - given this is a medieval and it wasn't exactly an "enlightened" time period.

I stayed up until 1AM to inhale about the first 75% of this book, begrudgingly went to sleep, and plowed through the rest the following morning. Looking forward to the next book in the series featuring Glynnis and Iain. A strong 4.5 Stars for me!

The Highlander’s Inconvenient Bride, by Terri Brisbin. I like this book. The writer chose a plot that’s usually the norm plot for a lot of historical romance novels, but this has a twist. The writer added a sub plot to to the story that brought forward how endearing and beautiful this book is. Robbie and Sheena’s characters absolutely had me on the edge of my seat, rooting for them.
I found myself, wanting nothing, but the best outcome for both of them. I would like to thank the writer for giving an estimated age range for Sheena. This helped me to enjoy the romantic escaped scenes between Robbie and her, without focusing on how the woman is for this scene. While reading the story, I could feel the emotions they both had. The words in themselves spoke volumes in the book.
For me the book read like a movie. It was very easy for me to visualize everything, just by the authors writing. I didn’t find not one scene where the book lost momentum. The story continued with giving me the reader entertainment, anticipation of what was going to happen next and the story was simply a joy to read. The romance was genuine and sweet.
The writer took the time to give the readers the beautiful courtship that Robbie and Sheena shared. This is definitely a happily ever after book. I give this book my two snaps and a twist. Until next time my fellow readers… read on!

Forced to marry, two enemies must find a way out before it is too late.

The Highlander’s Inconvenient Bride by Terri Brisbin is an entertaining medieval romance in which the couple does all they can to avoid a marriage of convenience just to find out they were made for each other.

It is part of the A Highland Feud series but can be read as a standalone.

Sheena and Robbie knew each other since childhood and never got along. So when their parents arranged their betrothal, none of them was happy about it. But, in the Medieval Highlands, duty came before personal inclination.

To make matters worse, Sheena kept a secret that could destroy her family if the wedding ever took place.

Robbie was dutiful and honorable, but I felt sometimes he was a little hesitant to defend Sheena. She was so lovely, and it was heartbreaking to follow her story and the reasons why she felt unworthy of Robbie, and the position she would eventually assume whenever he became chieftain.

Besides, it was interesting to see how Sheena’s medical condition was perceived at the book’s time frame and how it affected their relationship.

I enjoyed the slow burn romance and the transformation from enemies to friends and then lovers.

The Highlander’s Inconvenient Bride is an emotional medieval romance in which the couple does all they can to avoid a marriage of convenience just to find out they were made for each other.

Cameron Clan, 1377

Robbie Cameron was a boy who was fostered by Laird Connor MacLerie. He got a severe whipping which devastated and humiliated him. It was because he pushed the chieftain’s daughter in the river, his foster father was teaching him a lesson where not to be abusive to females. Sheena had been following and been pestering Robbie and her brother. So she felt very guilty though she had a less severe punishment. Robbie feared he would be shamed in front of his father and clan, Yet they never heard of this juvenile disobedience and shameful degrading and mortifying punishment that Robbie suffered. Sheena wanted to apologize but Robbie avoided her like the plague as he wouldn’t even speak or glance in Sheena’s direction! Soon Sheena felt it was easier to hate Robbie than feel guilty for his punishment. This is when she decided to find a new hobbie and she did about learning and caring about horses. It is how she discovered her love for her great war horse Wee Dubh, a horse she has raised since it’s birth and her most prized possession.

As time went on Robbie and his family title and status was elevated as he was now the tanist of Clan Cameron. That is heir to the Celtic chief or second in command. A match that had been arranged between Robbie and Sheena when they were children. Naturally the parents all thought it would be easier on them since they already knew each other. Sheena was to marry the Cameron tanist and she came to stay with Cameron family to get reacquainted with Robbie and his clan before their wedding. A wedding that neither one of them wanted yet Robbie never disagreed to the match.

At first Robbie was very cruel until he started to see Sheena in s different light. He knew why he wanted out of this marriage agreement but didn’t understand why Sheena didn’t want to marry the tanist of the clan. Now Robbie promised to find a way out of he marriage agreement without humiliating Sheena. It had to do with Sheena’s lack of education and how she faints due her sudden fear of fright in certain situations that she can’t seem to calm down from. Soon Robbie and Sheena understand their misunderstandings from childhood and their hearts start to grow.Plus Sheena has always felt her parents have never loved or cared about her and always been ashamed of her behavior. Will Robbie and Sheena have just another cold empty marrage? Plus Sheena worries she will bring shame and devastation to Clan Cameron as well as Clan MacLerie? Will Sheena and Robbie find a successful compromise without revealing secrets that might possibly harm the clan? Can love save them both? Read and find out!

Terri Brisbin is always my go to author and never disappoints readers. This is another brilliant read and and I love it brought the crossover of both MacLerie and Cameron books. For Brisbin readers this will be an absolute treat, plus revisiting book characters from previous books from both clans. I have long been a fan of this author for many years so I absolutely devoured this book and can’t recommend it enough! You can read this is as a stand alone book if you are new to this authors books. I definitely recommend this entire series as well as the MacLerie Clan novels as they are all phenomenal reads that Scottish romance readers will absolutely love!

Sheena MacLerie and Robbie Cameron have known each other since they were young, when Robbie fostered with Sheena's parents. There is animosity between them because of an incident when Robbie was punished because of an altercation between he and Sheena. When a marriage is arranged between them, Sheena is reluctant but must finally face her fears and try to be the daughter, and the future wife of a clan chieftain that everyone expects. But can she do it?

Robbie Cameron has not seen Sheena for some years when she arrives at his clan's holding to prepare for their marriage. While he finds her beautiful and sweet, Robbie suspects that Sheena has secrets that have caused her to tell him that she can never be wife to a chieftain. But he just wants to know why, and to help her. Despite their growing feelings for one another, Robbie finally agrees to help Sheena get out of their betrothal contract - not for himself, but for her.

But is there another way?

This was a heartwarming story that not only showed Robbie's growing love for Sheena, but showed the lengths he was willing to go to be with her.

An engaging read about an impending duty to wed to a spouse unchosen and initially unwanted. Brisbin writes eloquently about two formerly warring clans who set aside their differences by compelling their children to wed. Both children are unwilling but the larger onus is on the bride to be who is mortally aware of her functional inabilities to carry out the duties expected of her as the wife of a man chosen to assume leadership of his clan. Crippled by dyslexia and panic attacks, neither of which are understood at this time, she seeks escape with the aid of her groom to be. It is an emotionally compelling story of choosing love over duty that will leave the reader cheering.

Love most of her books but this one is a no for me. The lead romantic characters from a book earlier in the series are, in my opinion, totally besmirched in this! And it turns out to be some kind of unbelievable misunderstanding in the end?! It made me feel like Jocelyn and Connor turned out to be awful and ignorant parents?! Like wha?! Tarnishing the reps of old characters is not for me obviously. Even more frustrating was the heroine who was just so bland. No fire. No fight. Just a zombie in a dress.
