This one is a bit slower than book 1 and book 2, but still very enjoyable. The period and family history has been very well researched. Looking forward to book 4
Jane Ann McLachlin writes richly engrossing stories that hold you spellbound until long after you’ve read the last page. “ The Queen Who Sold Her Crown (The Kingdom of Naples Book 3)” is just such a story, filled with drama, political intrigue and romance set in medieval Europe. The life of Queen Joanna I of Naples and her sister, Maria of Calabria is so well told in this fascinating story.
With her meticulous research the author weaves the fascinating story of Joanna’s life, one filled with tragedy and travails. This is a story of one woman’s quest to hold onto her kingdom in a world where political treachery’s and papal interference threaten at every turn. Where does one turn under such circumstances?
The author does a beautiful job bringing the characters to life authentically and giving them voice. Rich with historical detail, dazzling scene setting, and evocative characters, this novel entranced me from the first page and didn't let me go until the very last word. I can’t wait to read the next installment.
Thank you so much Ms. McLachlan for this eloquently written story of the life of Joanna. I’ve been so enthralled by her story that you’ve inspired me research on my own. My great grandfather was born in Naples which has made as an added plus for me.
Everything seems to be falling apart in Queen Joanna"s Naples. Her dead husband"s brother has an army at her border to avenge his death while her cousins are fighting each other and no help to her. Everyone around her are just watching to see how she will handle this dire situation. Even her sister, Maria, is just watching.
Whenever I see the name Jane Ann McLachlan on a book I grab it because I know that I will learn some history while at the same time read an enjoyable story. This book has filled the bill.
McLachlan continues the drama of Queen Joanna's reign in the Kingdom of Naples, through the attack of the Hungarian army and the onset and devastation of the Black Death. McLachlan does a terrific job of navigating the political situation while maintaining strong interest in Joanna and her sister's personal lives. Recommended!
I am truly enjoying this series about Queen Joanna of Naples. Told by two different points of view, Joanna and her sister Maria. The author does a great job of keeping the story moving and heightening it by the details of the period. Joanna was a woman ahead of her time and I look forward to the next installment.
