Omega Wolf #1

Silver Moon Rising

Rate this book
Hayley is an Omega wolf. Submissive, low-ranking, and considered less than nothing by her previous pack. Which is why she ran away, fleeing their abusive Alpha. Now, all she wants is to make a life that she can be proud to live.

Cole and Ryland are two Alphas without a pack. With Cole's unpredictable wolf and Ryland's suspicious combination of witch and tiger shifter blood, and the fact that you can't have one without the other, it's too much for most packs to handle permanently. Instead, they roam from place to place as enforcers, a final solution when a wild wolf needs to be taken down.

When they find Hayley, at first they're not sure if she's a spy from the pack they're trying to hunt down or a victim, but either way they need her. Inconveniently, in more ways than one.

If Hayley can be strong enough to help them, maybe she can overcome her past. And if she can be strong enough to trust again, maybe she can find a way to the life she wants to live.

SILVER MOON RISING is the first book of new erotic fantasy reverse harem romance series OMEGA WOLF!

Content warnings include graphic sex scenes, multiple partners, some light dominance, discussions of past abuse without detail, some violence.

Hi! I never know what to write in these things but I guess I’ll just tell you a bit about myself and a bit about my personal writing ethos.

I live in Sydney, Australia. I’m a primary school teacher by day, but by night… I’m still a primary school teacher because I have marking. But after that, and after I feed my two cats and spend some time with my husband, I become Rosalie Spencer!

As a child, I fell in love with fantasy. Then, as a teenager, I fell in love with romance. Then, as a young adult, I fell in love with erotic fiction. It wasn’t too long after that I found my favourite sub-genre, fantasy reverse harem. But it wasn’t until I turned thirty that I decided to actually chase this dream of writing what I loved to read!

I think one of the reasons it took me so long to do this is because writers groups I’ve been in before have turned up their nose at fantasy, romance, and erotica, let alone all those three together. I’ve been in circles where they aren’t seen as ‘real’ writing even as separate genres, let alone together.

But.

I want to take you, (hopefully) my reader, to the highs and the lows of trying to love and lust after complicated people. I want you to feel their struggles with the many people they love, the flutter in their bellies when they confess their adoration, the weight of their past when it overwhelms them, the fire that grips them when they make love. I want to write erotic scenes so descriptive it feels like it’s happening to you. I want to write werewolves and vampires and elves loving with all of their heart, even though they’re scared.

I’m not sure if I succeed all of the time, but that’s what I want. And, really, I don’t see what’s low brow about that.

To chat, I can generally be found on Twitter, for free short stories check out that corner of my website or the various places I put them up!

Xo, Rosalie

When I started this book, I did not realize this was gonna be the start to a series. I thought it was gonna be a stand alone. Unfortunate, because this book leaves things off pretty open ended.

It starts with Hayley, an omega who escaped her abusive pack to live with humans, and deciding whether she stays in the town she’s grown accustomed to or venture further away from the pack lands. Knowing that her abusers could be moments from capturing her again, Hayley knows she has to move on. However, when she’s about to leave to start a new life, Hayley runs into a wounded wolf on the side of the road. She nurses him back to health, not knowing who he is or why he was hurt. Although he’s an alpha, he doesn’t impose himself on her and she can’t help but feel safe with him. Along with Cole, comes along a mysterious tiger/witch hybrid, Ryland, who pushes her buttons and brings out a playful side to her no one else has. When she discovers that both of them are connected and are after the same people who’ve hurt her, she has to make a decision to be honest about her past or leave to start a new life.

The premise drew me and I loved that Hayley was taking things into her own hands to make her life better. The self help books, the hard work and dedication to her job, and her overall desire for something better for herself made me so endeared to her. Being an omega shouldn’t have been the end of her life, but to her pack it was. I loved that she didn’t lose herself when the men came into the picture. Hayley is her own person and makes her own destiny. She won’t define her life based off what her lovers do.

I like how there was some female companionship in this book; I loved Jo. She’s fiery and definitely was a source of friendship to Hayley. It’s interesting that the author decided to have a book on JO next, and not Hayley, leaving us in even more of limbo until the next NEXT book comes out. But I digress.

Cole and Ryland were super hot, especially Ryland holy FUCK. The scenes with him and Hayley were spectacular. I do love the silent and protective type like Coal, but damn if I don’t love a cocky but sensitive tease who just wants best for the people he cares for OOOF.

Even though there were some misspellings and grammar issues in some places, I would still read the next book specifically for Ryland and to see who this new mate is! Will be on the lookout for the next book!

I enjoyed this. It is far from perfect, but the basic idea and most of the execution, I enjoyed.

However, despite all my complaints, I genuinely liked this. I like heroines like Hayley, who show the naturally submissive can still be brave. The domestic scene with Cole, when he prepares her food at her crap apartment, was genuinely precious. I hope there's more like those in the future.

This was a solid first book, and I am looking forward to more by this author both in this series and future works with different casts.

This book is the story of an omega overcoming her abusive past and building her own future, the best part being that she doesn’t just hand herself over to the new men in her life and let them take over, Hayley is taking charge of her own destiny and deciding exactly who she wants to be part of her future. It’s also worth noting that this isn’t an omegaverse story, ‘omega’ is a shifter hierarchy title.

Though this is set to be a reverse harem series, this book is a menage and all the better for it as the author had time to fully introduce us to the leading men; Cole and Ryland. The wolf and tiger shifters have very distinct personalities and don’t always behave in the best of ways, they have some work ahead of them to be worthy of our heroine but I’m hopeful they’re up to the task in a way that’ll satisfy me as a reader! I don’t mind their behaviour too much as it fits in with what we know of their pasts and the fact they’re a wee bit feral and haven’t given much thought to the way their behaviour impacts other people until they meet the alluring omega.

My only reservation about this book is that Hayley hasn’t yet discovered who she’s going to be, which makes her a little hard to bond with as a main character – I know it’s relevant to the plot and she does start growing some backbone near the end, but I’m a sucker for a strong personality. This role was filled by Hayley’s best friend Jo, who I cannot get enough of – she’s the queen of sound advice and terrible decisions.

The spicy scenes in this book are awesome, with some one on one time and group scenes – I’m looking forward to even more weird and wonderful as the series progresses and cannot freaking wait for the next book in the series.

Hayley has a somewhat settled routine to her life and enjoys being able to go to work each day and simply know she can go home to her safe and comfortable home but Hayley is aware of the fact that her escape from the abusive wolf-pack she ran from isn't ever a complete escape as they will find her one day. When she discovers an injured animal and decides to help it back to health but she could never truly imagine the turn that her life will take following this decision as she finds herself confronted by another shifter.

This book is full of intensive sexual situations and doesn't skimp on them during the story whilst ensuring that they maintain the overall flow of the book rather than feeling like the author has just tried to throw them in on a whim. The writing is very good and the story well thought out and delivered but I just found that there were quite a few editing errors that were frustrating as had these not been there then this is a potential 4.5 or 5 star book but I think it just needs a little bit of an editing rework to get there. If you are someone who won't mind a few spelling or grammar errors then this is highly recommended but if editing errors are going to bother you then be aware of the fact there are a few in this book.

I loved it

I honestly really enjoyed this read. The book was well written and well edited as well. The characters have depth and I am anxiously awaiting both your first book in your other upcoming series and the next book for this one. Their were a few small things which I only offer as constructive criticism (as your book is already really good) but where the main female characters PTSD is followed through on a few things. In a few situations throughout the book I felt that the character would be triggered but then the feeling would just disappear? Other then that the character growth was also excellent especially the main female character having the strength to make her end decision which I won’t go into details about to avoid spoilers. Overall I would recommend people read this book. It is truly worth the read.

Not for me

While this story has a lot of potential plot-wise, it also illustrates a lot of what I don’t like in ABO books.

I don’t really have anything against our FMC apart from the fact I didn’t connect with her as much as I thought I would. As for the guys, I really didn’t like how suspicious and cruel they were for absolutely no reason. And Ryland’s justification of « she’s here and she’s shy so of course it can’t be real and it’s a plot against us complete stranger who barged into her life » just annoyed me.

The only bright spot was Jo and even then I felt like I missing a bit of a backstory.

In the end, this whole yeah suffered but need to suffer more for the greater good stuff just doesn’t work for me. I’ll pass on the rest.

Side note, the book would benefit being reviewed by an editor as some sentences didn’t make any sense.

I really liked this book! I've been on a bit of a fragile/innocent heroine kick and Hayley definitely scratched that itch. Don't get me wrong, she's not a total pushover, she has just the right amount of attitude (especially towards Ryland in the bedroom *fans self*) and I love that she's just a really hard working gal. But she's got a rough past and she's working to get past it.

From some of the other reviews, I don't think everyone likes Ryland as much as I do but omg, a brassy, ballsy, secretly hurting inside type is what I love. I also really like books where they're suspicious of the FMC and then it turns out she's done nothing wrong and they have to do some groveling - call me weird but idk, it's cathartic maybe. Cole wasn't the most interesting character but I still liked him, hoping he has some more character development in the next book. (or that he keeps compensating for it in other ways *fans self again*)

Also very interested in the end of the book! Without spoiling much, there are hints towards someone being added to her harem later. Not a HEA but I'm hoping it'll go that way in the future. The ending was pretty open but it did feel like a good ending. Maybe not what you'd usually expect from this genre but I liked it.

A journey

A decent read that focuses on the more animalistic side of Alphas. The heroine is NOT Alpha barked into having sex with the MMCs, like one of the reviews says. Even I was second guessing this book thinking that would happen. This story is essentially about an omega finding her voice.

I'm glad the book doesn't delve oh so deeply into the trigger warning bits. It's starting to feel like some authors are just doing it for shock value lately. There is nothing entertaining about reading about trauma for 80% of a romance novel.

I recommend.

I took a chance on an author I've never heard of and I don't regret it! This book is so beautifully written, I love reading gentle MCs like Hayley. Her men are alphas, literally and in terms of their personalities, and I love how they interact with each other. Werewolf (or, I guess shape shifters is the better word since one of them is a tiger shifter) books are my absolute fave!!! Sexy, sweet, and I love love love her friend Jo.

Note; I thought this book would be RH but in this book there are only two men, although it looks like that will change for the next book. Can't wait!!

I liked the story and the characters, although in the beginning there was a bit of confusion and few errors but otherwise there is potential to this series esp with other characters that made last minute appearance.

**I've binged to book 2, the 3rd one isn't available until February.**
The book covers were so beautiful, I couldn't help but read it. The series is good, but it needs to be edited. There were a few moments that bumped me out of the story flow. Very confusing. None more than when the FMC Haley calls Cole by his actual name before she even knew it...

If you're looking for a book that the female is treated lovingly and cared for, this might not be for you... All the main males are more concerned with each other and are the equivalent of a one night stand with some Stockholm syndrome sprinkled on top. It's kind of sad actually. Regardless, I would've kept reading if anymore books in the series were available.

There's just not enough for this to be interesting to me.

But also, this was pitched to me as rh, and there's two men. I got to 77% and I hate one of the two. He's been a manipulative asshole since they met and is unrepentant about fixing it, even knowing what she's been through, and apparently she's so thirsty and broken she just accepts that.

Finally a book with a soft, sweet female that I don't hate! Hayley is an omega wolf shifter who has been through hell! She's skiddish and fearful, but shows incredible strength when she needs to. I loved her passive nature and how I never saw that as a weakness. She's tender and kind, but not naive.

Ryland and Cole are an interesting duo. Ryland is a tiger shifter and Cole a wolf. But they're all the other has. They work together to hunt rogue shifters and keep the Other lands safe.

Ryland doesn't trust Hayley's docile nature at all! He assumes she's a spy and is incredibly protective of Cole, distrusting his friend's growing affection for her. He does a lot of crappy things, but I felt they were all well founded given his character. And despite how much he believes her to be a spy, leading them to certain doom, he also can't deny the pull he feels towards her. I love how Hayley stands up to him and sasses him, going against her submissive nature to show him her strength.

Cole, on the other hand, is drawn to her right away. He takes his time to earn her trust and builds on that. Their connection is strong and I felt it from the start. But both men have a LOT of room for growth.

The underlying plot with Hayley's former pack and the problems they're causing is engaging and keeps you turning page after page.

This book ends on a cliffhanger and is part of a 3 book series for the full conclusion! So be warned.

Now for the down side... This book is in need of a good editor and some beta readers. There are many typos and grammar errors. While the story and characters are rich and engaging, the prose are a little lacking. It feels like it just needed a few more drafts with some help from an editor to bring out more in-depth descriptions and variety with the verbage.

Despite its room for growth, I truly enjoyed this book! I couldn't put it down and barreled right into the next book, which is fantastic!

Haley had been essentially captive and forced to obey most of her life, but she escaped and is now on the run, hiding in the human parts of the world. But with the appearance of 2 alphas her world is blown up again. I really liked Haley. She’s got a strong will and is resilient. She has made her way against the odds. The guys are both alphas. Overall, I like Cole and Ryland, but I didn’t really like that they, Ryland especially, just made assumptions without talking to Haley. I did love seeing Haley grow and become more confident. I really liked her friendship with Jo, and am looking forward to Jo’s story. And of course, I’m hooked on Haley’s story and can’t wait to see what’s in store for her, especially with that twist at the end :)

I think that there is nothing wrong with this book, but that it wasn't really to my taste, which is a hard review to formulate. On the positive side, the writing is fairly pedestrian but readable. There's an interesting world. The characters are mostly likable. The heroine has a lot of growth over the course of the book, and there is a fun side character.

On the negative side (for me), that fun side character is VERY OBVIOUSLY a crossover character from some other series. I felt that before I even went to look it up, and I'm generally annoyed by this. It always leaves me feeling like I'm missing something. The interesting world is barely hinted at. The mostly likable characters are only mostly likable because there are some aspects of them that I definitely did not enjoy. And this is where tastes come into play.

Hayley is very sweet. She is small and submissive and gentle and kind. And a perpetual victim. The plot is very much about her growing past this victimhood. But you'll have to really like scared mouse sorts of heroines to enjoy Hayley. And I really do prefer my heroines with more grit. (But I do think the author dealt with the whole scenario well.)

Similarly, the two heroes were never particularly kind to Hayley. I did not feel the spark between them AT ALL. They're not quite alpha a-holes, but just kind of a-holes, and I didn't understand what Hayley was supposed to be attracted to. Even the sex wasn't enough to bridge this gap for me since there wasn't very much.

Additionally, never was how small and dainty Hayley is emphasized so often, as during the sex scenes, which was just a little too infantilizing for me. Add to this the fact that it is VERY STRONGLY inferred that what amounts to sexual slavery was part of Hayley's history; her all but virginal behavior thus made no sense (other than to maintain her innocent miene).

Plus, while I liked the relationship between Cole and Ryland, why they are so bonded and loyal to one another is never really addressed. I think they had a platonic relationship or at least one that never crossed into romance between just the two of them. But I wondered what their relationship was based on before the introduction of Hayley. We're just kind of told they met and then they're inseparable.

The plot is also pretty cliched. You won't find anything particularly new here. But if you like the sort of story it is, you'll like this one. The book could also do with a little more editing.

Lastly, and this isn't a critique, just a heads up. This seems to be one of those series in which each book doesn't have an arc and ending of its own. The book ends on a cliffhanger with nothing of note resolved.

This book was actually an amazon recommendation and I haven’t seen anywhere on booktok or bookstagram. The story follows Hayley, a Omega shifter who has escaped from her abusive pack and is in hiding amongst humans. She’s been pretty successful staying hidden this far until she discovers an injured wolf shifter on the side of the road. It’s against her nature to leave him, but will helping this shifter drag her back into a world she is desperate to stay away from?

I enjoyed this book the farther and farther I read into in. It does start a but slowly, but the dynamic between the characters was interesting- especially Cole and Rhyland. Each character possesses a traumatic past, and while some of it is revealed, I do wish it was either revealed earlier in the story or incorporated as breadcrumbs more frequently. Also, in greater detailed (give me all the graphic description).

The ending was a great cliff hanger and I’m excited to see where the author takes the story in book 2.

A Mixed Read

This book was an interesting read, but I have to admit it left me a little disappointed. The main character felt inconsistent at times—shy and reserved in one moment, then suddenly bold and forward in the next. It pulled me out of the story here and there, especially when her personality shifts didn’t quite line up with the way she had been portrayed earlier.

That said, there were still elements I enjoyed. The premise had potential, and there were glimpses of great world-building that kept me turning the pages. I also appreciated the pacing, which made it a quick read, and there were moments of tension and intrigue that worked well.

Overall, while Silver Moon Rising didn’t fully hit the mark for me, it wasn’t a bad read. With some refinement in character consistency, it could have been much stronger. Still, it was worth checking out.

Solid 4 star story. However, I really want to give it 1 star for not making it plain that while not quite a cliffhanger there is no resolution. This does not hold up as a standalone at all. Loved the characters, good plot, feel absolutely cheated about the ending.

I'm so tired of this crap in published novels. I really am. Especially when the story is good and you get attached to the characters.

So yeah, if a lack of resolution bothers you definitely skip this one.

I enjoyed this story, and Haley was a good FMC. Unfortunately, this book is still in desperate need of editing to check discontinuity issues that come up, mainly in the beginning of the book, that detract from the overall story. The writing definitely got better towards the end. For the first book by this author, I found the plot interesting and think this book could go really far with some more editing.

Great first

With just a few grammer/spelling errors, this first in the series was fun, action packed, & emotional. Hayley hasn't had an easy life. Here's hoping her past can be overcome. I look forward to the next instalment & find out whether she gets more than she ever dreamed for herself.

First book in an omegaverse shifter RH. Multiple types of shifters, witches, elves, all kinds of cool stuff. Abused omega wolf shifter escaped her pack and is living among humans. Enter an alpha wolf shifter and an alpha tiger shifter/witch hybrid. We got all kindsa alphas.

The world-building was kind of hurried and didn’t feel fully complete but I liked the overall concept and I want to see how the storyline continues. Also very minimal tension between the MCs.

The very end got confusing and felt a bit rushed. The cliffhanger it’s left on is enough to make you eager for the second book though so I’m glad I can go ahead and jump into that! Super interested to see what happens with Hayley and however many guys she ends up with 😅

I really enjoyed this book! I liked so many things about it.. the MCs, the conflict, and the spice! It was a fantastic pairing of so many of my favorite things such as shifters and witches, along with tropes like found family and why choose. I am so ready for the next book.. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for Hayley and her guys!!
