Our cities and communities need prayer as never before. Political and social division, lack of resources, the needs of a growing population all are putting pressure on communities. Praying God's Word Over Your City will equip you to pray effectively for your community. It is a unique prayer guide that focuses on seven keys areas for prayer and provides prayer points for each area and 40 Scripture-based prayers to pray over your city. It will make you and your church more effective in interceding for your city. Praying God's Word Over Your City was written by the founders of the Unceasing Prayer Movement in Austin, Texas, which has raised up more than 100 churches to participate in 24/7 prayer for their city.
I read Pastor Trey and Mary Anne Kent's book about praying God's word over your city. They have broken this book into a variety of areas for us to pray for others. We are to pray for unbelievers to be saved, Pray for national awakening, Pray for the unity of the church, Pray for families, for racial reconciliation, for life to be valued and protected, and pray for local, and national government leaders. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in praying for these and other areas of our lives. The prayers that are given by Pastor Trey and Mary Anne Kent are examples for us to start praying and then to continue praying as we feel led to pray further for all areas of our life and the lives of those in our sphere of influence. I would highly recommend this book on and about prayer for anyone who wants to go deeper with the Lord!
I found these 40 prayers tremendous and felt the presence of God as I prayed them.
The prayers are broken into 7 categories such as:
Pray for Unbelievers to be Saved, Pray for a National Spiritual Awakening, Pray for Families, Pray for Local and National Government Leaders.
Each day starts with a bible verse(s) which is the basis for the specific prayer. A short introduction to the prayer is provided and then a well written and thought-out prayer is provided. Following the prayer are a series of prompts to provided increased focus for the individual as they pray and ends with a short quote.
