Poplar Falls #6

Knitted Hearts

Rate this book
An emotional, passionate second-chance romance in the Poplar Falls series from Amber Kelly

Sometimes you have to lose control to have it all…

I’ve always longed to start a family of my own. I throw everything I have into every relationship. Too bad I seem to attract the fixer-uppers. You know the type—the boys with all the potential but none of the drive. I thought Ricky was different, the one who would finally step up and be the man I’d been dreaming about all these years—ever since I lost my father when I was a little girl. I didn’t realize the dream would turn out to be a nightmare.

So here I am. Twenty-four years old, on the verge of divorce, and trying not to think about what my daddy would say while I hold on to the last threads of my life to keep it all from unraveling.

It’s all going fine until Foster Tomlin swaggers into my life. The sexy-as-sin former soldier works on my best friend’s family ranch, and there’s no getting around him or what I’m feeling. He doesn’t need fixing up. He’s perfect the way he is. The way he looks at and treats me makes me feel things I’ve sworn off for good. And when he wraps his arms around me, I find myself letting go of all the things I thought I wanted and needed.

The question is…can I take a risk and put my heart on the line again?

I’m sad that this is the last ‘Poplar Falls’ book. I’ve truly loved this small town series and have become so invested in all of these characters. I love books with that found family aspect and this author does it so well.

The final book in the series is Sonia and Foster’s story. While all of their friends are in happy relationships, they’ve both been through a divorce recently. Through the years each has had a crush on each other but the timing was never right. Now, it’s their time.

After seeing Sonia struggle in the last few books with her husband, I was so ready for her to find her happy. Foster was perfect for her. I loved these two together and though the last quarter had a lot going on, I still loved this one overall. The ending and authors note had me in tears.

I’m going to miss these books and characters. If you’re a fan of small town romances I highly recommend checking these books out.

Knitted Hearts is the 6th and final book in the Poplar Falls series by Amber Kelly. This book follows Sonia and Foster who we have met throughout the series and they have definitely been one of my most anticipated couples of this series. Though this can be read as a standalone I still highly recommend reading the previous books as you do get quite a lot of back story for these two in those books as well as some great stories you don't want to miss if you are a lover of small town romances.

Sonia & Foster have both been through their fair share of heartbreak and struggles when it comes to prior relationships but finally seeing these two come together was a joy. They are so sweet, kind, caring and passionate and fit so seamlessly together. They had their ups and downs and some truly heartbreaking moments that had me sobbing (real tears were shed), they also had some of the sweetest light hearted moments and over all I'm happy with the way this series ended.

Sonia & Foster are probably my 2nd favourite couple over all (Elle & Walker will fovever be my number 1) but I truly love all the characters in the poplar falls world. It is a good mix of sweet & passionate romances with a lot of heart while set in a beautiful atmospheric small town and I genuinely recommend this series to everyone I know. I'm sad to be saying goodbye to these characters but I'm very excited to see what the author comes up with next.

Also I wouldn't be mad if we got a bonus story starring Truett because I kind of need it like right now 😍😍

(It’s squarely in that gray area in between tbh)

Here we’ve arrived at the last hoorah of the Poplar Falls series, Knitted Hearts. It’s bittersweet as I’ve grown quite attached to this tight-knit (see what I did? SMH at me lol) ranching community of Poplar Falls over the course of six books + one novella. (*sigh* Why isn’t Poplar Falls a real place? 😭. No joke - I’d go there in a heartbeat if it was. It’s one of my favorite book worlds.)

Just the same, with each of them recently burned by their previous marriages, I’ve looking forward to seeing these two taking a chance & find love again. The shameless nosy matchmaking along the way by their loved ones giving the gun-shy duo, Sonia & Foster, the last few nudges they needed gave me a few good laughs - i.e. the church carnival with Sonia’s lipstick, like the older ladies thought wearing just the right one would somehow help seal the deal. Old school thinking, but a sweet intention -.

Knitted Hearts was cruising right along delivering once again a cozy sweet, swoony & sexy comfort read I’ve grown accustomed to & love with each time I return to Poplar Falls to read the next book of the series. That unfortunately only lasted until right around the 75% mark - things went haywire taking two angsty turns. The first I’ve never been crazy about. The second felt like piling on & too much to close a book & series with - I wish so much it had been excluded. One aspect of the fallout of the second I didn’t understand why To be quite honest, I thought the combination overshadowed during the last 25% & Knitted Hearts sort of went out on a whimper.

Please make no mistake, the last thing I want to do is discourage anyone enough to turn someone away from the series altogether. If small town/cowboy romances are up your alley, Poplar Falls series is so worth checking out. The rest was charming as ever & fit so well with the previous books in the series. Just that 25% missed the mark is all imho. Hey, I can’t get everything I want, now can I? Trust me, if I did, David Gandy would be knocking on my door right now 😂. But believe me, I still got a lot with my last time “in” Poplar Falls 😉.

(David Gandy, if you’re wondering…& you’re welcome 😉)

Knitted Hearts was a sweet small town story that warms your heart. It was satisfying to see Sonia get her well deserved Happily Ever After.

While this story did have a lot of plot points unlike the previous books, it did not feel too cluttered. There are a few serious topics that the author has introduced to what would have otherwise been a simple story. These twists test the love that is brewing between the MCs. The ending did feel a bit rushed but then I don't think that dragging it put any further would have made the book any more enjoyable. This was a nice read also because it gave the readers a glance at all of the lovable couples we had met previously in Poplar Falls.

While Knitted Hearts is not something that will stand out in the long run , it is still a sweet, charming story that you can pick up to pass the time.

I am seriously so sad to see this series come to an end. It’s not the most developed in terms of depth, but there is something to be said for a quick read that packs a punch and really gets you in the feels. These swoony cinnamon roll men who are also buff and strong and extremely hard workers, and these strong women who value friendship and family…it’s just so wholesome and nice.

Sonia and Foster are both going through disappointing divorces, but they’ve always been very attracted to each other. And finally, Sonia thinks she’s ready to explore something with Foster.

Foster is my new favorite of the series. He’s just so hopeful and earnest and fell so hard for Sonia. In love that they adopted puppies together, and the fun way they named them, it was lovely. I loved every second that these two were together, especially all of their special moments in the apple orchard. ESPECIALLY the ending from Foster’s point of view. I really wanted a longer epilogue, but all the same, their ending made me teary.

In the process of getting a divorce, Sonia is wary of falling in love again. But when Foster, who is also in the midst of a nasty divorce, takes romantic interest in Sonia, she can’t say no to a date with this handsome local. Sonia & Foster start trying to form new memories together, ones that aren’t full of the pain of their pasts. But somehow, everything they wanted to leave behind them surfaces whether they want it to or not.

Knitted Hearts by Amber Kelly is the 6th and final book in the Poplar Falls series. Although I haven’t loved every romance in this small town romance series, I have fallen in love with the characters among the pages of each and every book. I feel so connected to this found family and I feel bittersweet about saying goodbye. With that said, I have such mixed feelings about Sonia & Foster’s romance. They were both such great MCs and I was rooting for their HEA. Unfortunately, the first half of the story bored me to tears. After the halfway mark, things picked up. A lot of drama was thrown in, on top of some emotional events toward the end. And Amber’s author’s note at the end nearly had me crying. This wasn’t my favorite or least favorite in the series, but I definitely enjoyed it. 3.5/5 stars.

Knitted Hearts brings readers to the story of Sonia and Foster’s two people who are going through a divorce and find in each other the possibility of loving again and starting over. The story is sweet, and at the same time bittersweet for being the farewell of the residents of Poplar Fall. Although it's not my favorite book in this series, I think it served the purpose of bringing these two characters that were always present in the previous books to an end and also gave us a glimpse into the future of other couples, thus bringing this series to a full cycle.
➖➖➖

If you love small town romances with wonderful interconnected characters, then please read the Poplar Falls series by Amber Kelly. She was a new-to-me author until I decided to give Rustic Hearts a chance, and now I am a fan for life. Each book is a total standalone as the author masterfully weaves each character and their relationship into each book, but if you have the time, I suggest you start with book one and binge read all six of these heartwarming love stories set in the beautiful mountains of Colorado.

In the final book of the series, Knitted Hearts, Sonia and Foster Tomlin are both in unhappy marriages. Their story progresses through each book and as a reader, you will route for them the entire time. Please know there is ZERO cheating. The author goes into great detail explaining their situation, as well as life in Poplar Falls, and it’s filled with all the feels. You will laugh, cry, swoon, and worry, and be immersed in the lives of these characters.

The series centers around the importance of family and friends. Sonia’s besties are Bellamy and Elle, and I love how they support and encourage one another, especially when telling hard truths when one of them are making a mistake.

I love the small town feel and bond of these characters. It has everything from the very long hours and commitment of farm life; the fun they have at the festivals, watching an outdoor movie or slow dancing in the beautiful hillside; drinking and eating at the local hotspots, and the dedication and real-life struggles they go through to make their businesses successful.

Love how noble Foster is, how he works so hard to help others and doesn’t take anyone for granted. He had such character and strength, even when his marriage was falling apart. An injured veteran, he avoided attention and was so sweet to Sonia, our heroine. He was patient and just so swoony as he tried to get to know her better and demonstrate he could be trusted.

And when his life was thrown a curve-ball by his ex, he remained honorable and steadfast, even when his own heart was breaking by a choice Sonia made.

Love how this community respects and admires nature and the beauty that surrounds them. The men are funny, vulnerable, strong, and super sexy, and there is no shortage of steamy scenes in this series. If it were real, I’d move to Poplar Falls in a hot minute. Loved all of the parents, the aunts, and how they were always there for one another lending a hand or lending support.

While book one was more serious as Sophia Lancaster, who is estranged from her father, comes home with mixed emotions to attend her grandmother’s funeral, she finds love with Braxton Young. In book two, Myer and single mom Dallas find love, while book three features forbidden lovers–wild, funny man Walker Reid and Elle, Braxton’s younger sister. Book four features new-to-town Veterinarian Brandt Haralson and fun-loving Bellamy. Book five, Crazy Hearts, which happens to be my favorite, features farmer turned businessman Payne Henderson, and city slicker, Charlotte, who is best friends with Sophia.

I can honestly say I read through this series so fast because I couldn’t get enough. I waited patiently for Knitted Hearts, which has a more somber feel than the others, and am so sorry to see this series end. It is wonderful and one I highly recommend.

Knitted Hearts is a small-town friends-to-lovers romance and the last installment in the Poplar Falls series. It follows the story of Sonia and Foster, who each go through a divorce and find happiness and a second chance at love in each other. Their mutual attraction, even though their timing was never right, was teased a bit throughout the rest of the series, so I was eager to see how it would play out now that they were both single.

Like the other couples, Sonia and Foster were very sweet together, and I enjoyed seeing their relationship slowly evolve throughout the story. It also took an emotional turn I wasn't expecting, but the conflicts that happened towards the ending kind of overshadowed Sonia and Foster's relationship, which explains my rating.

It was great to have so many scenes with the characters from the previous installments, and I liked how everything wrapped up for them. I will miss them though because the Poplar Falls series has been a feel-good and comforting series with amazing pairings and a family-like group of friends!

Bittersweet, heartwarming, uplifting...all the words that conjure up the feeling of family, friendship and belonging, and a warmth in your heart. That’s what epitomises this series. I hate to see the Poplar Falls series end, but wow, did it go out with a bang with Knitted Hearts. I could not love these charming characters anymore - I'm so enamoured by each and every one of them, and while saying goodbye is bittersweet, Knitted Hearts is the perfect full circle story to wrap up this spectacular series.

I was so excited for the final installment in this series and could not wait for Foster and Sonia's book. This amazing couple were beyond sexy but more than anything their love story was heartwarming and butterfly-inducing. I shed so many tears with this story. Amber Kelly delivered so many wonderfully poignant moments that tugged at the heartstrings. And what I loved more than anything was how she showcased the love and respect and a deep caring between so many of the characters, besides the obvious love and adoration shared between Foster and Sonia themselves.

I have simply adored this series...I’m not ready to say goodbye. I’ve loved every book so dearly - these wonderful men, and their amazing women; have brought so much joy, so much charm, and so much heart. I’m so in love with this world, these characters, and this series. I hate saying goodbye, but what a gentle and loving conclusion. I’m excited to see where Amber Kelly is going to take us to next.

It’s always so hard when you know a series is coming to the end. I have loved Poplar Falls from the very beginning and Sonia and Foster’s story was no different.

These two had a path that was nowhere near easy, yet their story was beautiful in its own way.

“every story is different. No one’s happily ever after comes wrapped up with a pretty little bow on top. Those stories happen in books and movies. Real life is messy, and it throws you curveball after curveball. But if you find love—real love—you can get through anything together, and the thing that you think is insurmountable might end up being the thing that brings you the most joy,”

It’s often say that a good writer will bleed everything into their books and you feel right along with them. That is the case with Amber. I felt every single emotion throughout this book!

This was a wonderful ending to the Poplar Falls.

It's bittersweet to see one of my favourite series come to an end. I'll admit that this one took me time to feel completely invested, though. It was a lot of rehashing of previous characters—and being such a short book, I was simply itching for more on-page scenes with Sonia and Foster.

But these two precious characters and their heartwarming romance quickly won me over. Both in the midst of divorce with ungrateful partners, Sonia and Foster deserved to find love. Their quiet moments together were absolutely beautiful. While I found the conflict infuriating and a little rushed in its resolution, the ending was such an emotional whirlwind that reminded me of my love for these books.

Poplar Falls has come to life within each story and I'll miss reading about this small town.

A tear jerker in more ways than one, this ending of the Poplar Falls series brings two broken people together to find happiness and love. But when Sonia and Foster finally put their divorces behind them and are ready to try again, live has a way of throwing you for a loop and stopping you in your tracks. But will happiness and love prevail? Or will they end up with more on their plate then they bargained for? With a storyline that had me wiping tears from my eyes this was an emotional read. Amber Kelly took the reader in as a family member to the characters in Poplar Falls and although I am sad to see the series end, the characters will always be regarded as some of my favorites.

I love this series so much and I am so sad to see it end. Sonia and Foster's story was everything you could ask for in a series ending. I laughed at all the boys antics, I cried.... a lot and I felt like I was being wrapped in a familiar blanket while reading. Watching Sonia and Foster both overcome their past and the obstacles in front of them was both heartbreaking and beautiful. Myer had it right when he said.. all it takes to be family is love. That town, those people and the memories wrapped up in them, that is family!

I can’t believe I finished this series! Or maybe I can because I loved it that much. A small town romance series you need in your life y’all!!

Getting Sonia’s story last was the best. I loved her romance with Foster and the second chance love between them was perfect. Sonia and Foster both had pasts that they needed to repair in their hearts as they also learned to lean on their new love and each other. It was all sorts of sweet and a little spicy.

I wasn’t sure how I felt about the relationship conflict because it’s usually not a trope I love, but the more I sat on it the more I liked it in the end. It worked for this story and I’m fine with that!

Sometimes the plot focused too much on the previous couples in the series when I just wanted more Sonia and Foster. That was my only complaint. Otherwise all of the dates and romancing under the moonlight was fantastic.

Another quick read I flew through in one morning because I needed to know how everything worked out. It was emotional and tender and I can’t wait to see what Kelly writes next.

Overall audience notes:
- Contemporary romance
- Language: some strong
- Romance: kisses to open door scenes (2-3)
- Trigger/Content Warnings: loss of a parent (on page), divorce and separation

#1 Rustic Hearts (11 settembre 2023)
#2 Stone Hearts (26 luglio 2024)
#3 Wicked Hearts (22 agosto 2024)
#4 Fragile Hearts (24 febbraio 2025)
#5 Crazy Hearts (20 marzo 2025)
#6 Knitted Hearts (18 ottobre 2025)

Bentornate a Poplar Falls Peccatrici,

This is the latest book in the Poplar Falls Series and it is the story of Foster and Sonia. If there is something I love about Amber Kelly's books, it is that in her books she always gives us glimpses of secondary or complementary characters, so it was felt that something could arise between Sonia and Foster. Now, both have a failure in their love history. They spent years making their respective relationships work without any success, they were not valued, and now face a complicated process of disruption. Fortunately, both have the support of family and great friends who help them pass this bad drink in a more enjoyable way. Foster and Sonia have a friendship for years, but it is strengthened due to the very similar situation that both are experiencing. Understanding, complicity and attraction increases, and that is where they question whether it is worth the risk of falling in love again.

Sonia is a woman who has lived through many sad moments and yet has managed to get ahead. Foster has stumbled at key moments in his life but has risen up and healed his wounds. Both find in the other the piece they needed to truly be happy and also unconditional support.
Knitted Heart is about second chances with oneself. To learn from the mistakes made to avoid falling into the same mistakes, accept the consequences of poorly made decisions, listen to the heart and dare to follow those hunches. This book will make you laugh, cry and feel every emotion experienced by our main characters.

Poplar Falls has got to be one of the best heartwarming small town romance series out there and it's sad that this is the last book.

To say that Sonia has had a rough time with love would be an understatement but that's never stopped her from being happy for her friends as they all find the loves of their lives. She is one of the sweetest people and it's about time that she gets her chance at a lifetime of love.

Throughout the series, Foster has been married but things were not as they seemed. He's been trying to make his marriage work for years but with his divorce on the table, the simmering attraction he's had for Sonia is finally able to grow.

This is a bittersweet love story but one so filled with enduring love once they are able to work things out. After all that Sonia has been through, she finally gets to the right guy and Foster steps up in all the ways that truly matter. Their connection is hot but filled with kindness. I love these two together!

I cannot recommend any series more highly and often as this one if you're looking for love stories that are filled with small town charm, genuine characters and friendships that last generations. It's a seriously cozy series and I couldn't get enough of Poplar Falls!

I was kindly provided with an ARC for an honest review.

I can't believe this is the final book in the Poplar Falls series. I only discovered this series back in March but I have fallen in love with the characters and their world.

Knitted Hearts concludes with Sonia and Foster's romance. After hinting at a possible connection between these two characters in the previous book, the story starts off with both Sonia and Foster each going through a divorce and slowly throughout the book their relationship evolves from friends to lovers.

Throughout reading this series I kept routing for Sonia and her happy ending and I am so happy that this book delivered. Sonia and Foster's romance is probably one of my favourites from the series. There were so many sweet and sexy moments between these two characters and their relationship gave me the most butterfly-inducing moments. This book was both heartwarming and heartbreaking and even brought me to tears near the end.

Amber Kelly did an amazing job with this book and the rest of the Poplar Falls series. She is definitely becoming one of my favourite romance authors. I'm really sad to see this series end but I can 100% guarantee that there will be plenty of rereads in the future.

4.5*

I am so sad to be done with this series 🥹😭 I mean I still have Merry Hearts but it’s a novella & im saving it for around Christmas when I’m missing these characters!

gah, I have just loved all of these books. they’re so much fun! I love the town, the friend group is absolutely everything, Walker POPS OFF every time he is so funny 😂
i love each couple for different reasons & Sonia & Foster were no exception!

each book has an epilogue set so many months in the future that ties everything up so beautifully & I am obsessed.

I need to note a couple things tho, Fosters brother Truett, needs his own book because I loved him!
also, I wanted to see Bellamy & Brandt get married before the series ended & they didn’t which I’m sad about but whatever it’s fiction I guess 😅

anyway, I’m so glad I finally read this series & now I need to immediately jump into her next series!

I will definitely reread these later this fall because they’re just the perfect books to transition into the fall time with!

Warning!!!! Sobfest ahead....
Grab the tissues, curl up on the lounge, wrapped in your favourite blanket and emerse yourself in this perfect romance by the lovely Amber Kelly. A trip back to Poplar Falls is just what everyone needs and Amber has saved the best for last.

This is a hoghly emotional, heartbreaking read. I loved Sonia and Foster, perfect couple who well and truly deserve a second chance at love, after battling so many obstacles in their pasts.

Amber you held nothing back and now knowing what you dealt with whilst writing this one. It just about broke me. I was an absolute mess, I cried for both you and Sonia. It was raw, it was heartwarming sexy and it was so damn good.

A magnificent read and the perfect goodbye to Poplar Falls and those awesome characters. Can't wait to see what's next.
