Peaches

Rate this book
Grace

It doesn’t have to be a bestseller.
It doesn’t have to be something no one has ever read!
So why am I making this so damn difficult?

I need to focus.
To push past the writer’s block, the fear, the taunting rejection that they’ll all think this new book of mine sucks a big dick!

Am I allowed to say that?
Screw it, because I just did, and it totally does, at least in my mind.

I don’t need distractions!
Especially mouth-watering, panty-dropping, dirty talking, self-gratifying distractions.
Distractions that cause my breath to catch, my thighs to clench, my center to quickly dampen, and my brain to scream only two self-gratifying words.

Yes fucking please!

OK, that was three!

Never mind the fact that he’s my new boss.
Forget the idea that he corners me into a fake engagement - the first day we meet!
Ignore the obvious evidence that I can’t, for the life of me, stay away from Brettly Beckett!
And what’s more, I don’t want to!
And he doesn’t make it easy!
No, my lucky readers, he’s not backing down without putting in some very hard-to-resist, self-pleasure seeking efforts.

Gifting me with the nickname Peaches, he makes it known he’s dead set on claiming my peach the first chance he gets, and the sooner the better.

But I quickly learn that’s a development that could prove too self-destructive if we let it.
After all, it's like they say, not everything in life can be as sweet as a peach.

I started this book at 2 in the morning, planning to only read a few chapters, but I was automatically sucked in. I could not put it down until I finished.

I love Brett so much. He is the perfect hero. I love the banter between him and Grace.

This light hearted sweet read was a nice change of pace. Brett and Grace have explosive chemistry.

I definitely recommend this book to anyone that wants a sweet romance with lots of laughs.

I love me a good romance. And this one had comedy too so it was icing on the cake. I loved Brett and Grace and their meet cute, and then their not so cute second meet. At first, they resisted each other. But then they just gave in. There was a lot of bantering that had me in splits. There was an unexpected twist but then everything fell into place.

Grace is like a coconut - hard on the outside but soft on the inside. And so is Brett, in his own way. Grace is an honest and unafraid writer suffering from a writer's block that is affecting her negatively. Brett is the new owner of the publishing house she is signed with. Both carry past baggages and it was the unrealised healing that warmed my heart.

This was a fast paced, light hearted, sweet read with romance and comedy at the core. Definitely recommended.

Nice little distraction indeed! I didn't know what to expect with this book, this is the first book I have read from her and I enjoyed the banter between Grace Presley and Brett Beckett. But, I got annonyed by Grace's inner voice talking. I will say this is not like your typical romance book AT ALL. There is your strong Alpha, a-hole who is Brett Beckett. Who is the CEO of a new publishing house. Which, I kinda wanted to see more in office back in forth between Grace and Brett. Anyways, Grace is an author struggling with the worst writers block, she's trying to get herself out of. But, sitting in a busy coffee shop trying to people read to get a muse but failing horribly. Two many scenerios come to mind, but she is disracted by sexy handsome stranger wanted to know if he can sit in the open chair by her. Should she say something and lose her train of thought? Agh eff it right? Two strangers exchange witty banter, sliding in a few sexy flirts...but alia the sexy stranger sees his companion and leaves. Will Grace take that leap and get her distraction and possible new storyline? Anyways, Grace goes back to her writing and thinks of the exchange between Mystery Man and her and gets creative. Time is of the essence, she needs to meet a deadline for her publisher.

Anyways, Brett Brckett aka sexy stranger is meeting his business partner for an upcoming meeting. But, he keeps thinking of Peaches who he nicknames Grace. Ooops, he nicknames Grace before he leaves with his friend. Will they get to meet again? Alias, they find out the true identity of one another at Brett's business meeting. A business meeting truns heated and in order to help one another a contract is form. Can they work together? Can they get past their sexual tension? Will Boss / employee lines be crossed? What will Peaches and Mr. know it all do?

Wow what can I say! Another brilliant book by Evelyn Montgomery.
It was a story out of her comfort zone but it was worth it, I was hooked from the moment I started and couldn't put it down, it was everything I wanted in a story and more! The chemistry between Grace & Brettly was damn right fire! with a few moments that made me laugh out loud and the unexpected twist was brilliant. This is definitely in my top 10 of favourite books 😍

I received an ARC of this book in return for an honest review.

Peaches is a lighthearted, heart warming read, it is very different to what I have already read from Evelyn.

The heroine Grace, an author, has a lot of sass and banter. Brett, the hero/alpha in the story won me over pretty quickly. He was charming and sensitive but I could tell there was more to him.
This book follows their journey which was a very slow burn. I was willing them to get together early on 😂 but when the steamy scenes did arrive, they were worth waiting for as they were hot!

Personally I found the book got better as you read, I much preferred the second half as I found the characters much stronger.

Although this book is described as a rom com, it is lighter on the comedy side.

Peaches was a steamy fun read. The steamy scenes were omg fantastic. The tension was amazing.  The story is a good story too. Some parts felt jumbled to me and not quite clear there was also an odd amount of exclamation points. I know they ment to convey a desperation or intensity but in my head it just comes off as excited yelling and it didn't fit alot. It's honestly a small annoyance to me and didn't get in the way of the story. There are a bunch of laugh out loud parts. But there should be a disclosure.. I don't mind sorta 'consensual' sex but I was not expecting a scene like that in a rom/com book. I received an advance copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review

I have received this book as an ARC in return for an honest review. I absolutely fell in love with this book. Evelyn is one of my favorite authors and she definitely didn't disappoint with peaches. In this book you meet Grace or shall we say peaches. She is a feisty woman with a heart of gold. I love how quick witted she was, she definitely wears her heart on her sleeve. Then enter Brett, omg I swooned so hard for him. He likes to act tough sometimes, but deep down he is sensitive and just a sweet person. I wouldn't say their love was instant, but it was definitely fast paced, but in a good way. They both have difficult pasts, which I feel they do some healing with each other without even realizing it, which was beautiful. Their relationship was a lot of fun to read about, if you're looking for a good romance with some comedy, this is definitely a book you should give a try.

My first time reading Evelyn's works and WOW!

Brett and Grace were an amazing couple. I absolutely loved their meet cute and how they were both doomed from that point on even if they didn't realize it. Fate just kept stepping up to the plate and putting those two together. The tension from them can only be described as a slow, slow, slow burn but when they finally give into temptation there is no going back for either of them.

A couple things I wasn't expecting and was totally blindsided by them (in a positive way) was Grace's background and the different events she had to experience at a younger age. I loved her fierce protectiveness of Archie. The other is where Evelyn is wrapping up the story and we get a brief in depth look at the many side characters and while most of them I was right in thinking what I thought about them there was one that completely surprised me and actually made me feel sad for them.

As stated above this is the first story of Evelyn's I have read and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I actually love a good slow burn. I loved the way this story was wrapped up and that ending was just perfect...talk about coming around full circle!

I absolutely adored this book! Grace (Peaches) in an author, she’s feisty, sassy, and suffering from the worst writer’s block no matter what she tries to do to focus. Brett is the new owner of O'Connor Publishing House, he’s charming, and deep down a really sweet guy. I loved the banter between Brett and Grace and the chemistry between them is palpable. I loved everything about this story. It has an incredible storyline, amazing characters, and it’s filled with witty banter, emotions, romance, and love. I highly recommend adding this book to your TBR!

Everything about this book was a rollercoaster. I instantly fell in love with the concept. This is a fun read with interesting characters, with a story that started out steady but kind of fell apart towards the middle. The author made a comeback to save the story from getting too predictable. I enjoyed the instant attraction and off-the-charts chemistry between romance writer Grace Presley and Brettly Beckett, owner of Beckett Enterprises.

Couldn't put this book down!

Lust at first sight, fake engagement, and forced proximity in the beautiful city of Savannah, GA make this book amazing.

Grace is fighting writers block so she can continue to help support her mother and autistic brother. She has a chance meeting with Brett at a coffee shop.

This book looks at different aspects of people with neurodivergence, and how they struggle in standard educational settings.

Spend a weekend getting lost in this book, and the very spicy tension between Grace (Peaches) and Brett.

Peaches is a sweet and steamy romance story.
It took me a bit to get into the story, but once I did I was immersed, into this billionaire love/hate romantic story. The twists and turns kept me guessing, and the characters have such an undeniable attraction.

This is written by a new author to me, and I'm glad I asked for an arc to read. I'm so happy that I found a new author to read. I'm looking forward to reading from her blacklist, plus her future stories.

I devoured this book!! Evelyn is Amazing!!
I love Brett and Grace, and the chemistry between them is explosive and with a bit of comedy.
Brett is a CEO of the Publishing House and an a-hole, but who doesn’t love them, and Grace is an author who is distracted by this sexy man. Can she have a new story in her book? Oh, she finds out who this man is? I recommend it 100 %

Hilarious and super sexy!

This story is absolutely amazing. Right from the very start Grace and Brett had me utterly captivated and enthralled. These two were everything! The instant attraction between them was completely undeniable and their back and forth banter had my sides in stitches. The situation they get themselves into made for a very entertaining story.

Grace and Brett had me melting into a puddle of goo with their ability to hold out and tease each other like crazy. I was on fire! All that talk about juicy peaches was definitely panting melting and so very delicious! Brett is one sexy talker!

Phenomenal writing with outstanding characters that you fall hopelessly in love with and a storyline that is witty, intense, emotional and passionate. Also, that ending was unexpected and brilliant. I loved every second of it!

This was an entertaining story. Once I started I had a hard time putting it down. Grace is a romance writer and one day at a cafe trying to figure out her next book, she is approached by a handsome gentleman and they have a conversation with sexual innuendos and then he leaves. Then Grace starts to write thanks to her stranger who she is sure to never meet again. What are the odds later that day she walks into her publishers office to find out handsome stranger is now her new boss and he is nothing like the man she met at the cafe. There is an instant chemistry between these twobut they both fight it. The banter between these two throughout the story is fun, hot and entertaining. Love Brett and Grace. This has a bit of everything you have enemies to lovers, boss/employee, fake fiance, slow burn Rom-Com. It was a bit of a surprise at the end of this story.

I received an ARC and volunteered to leave a review.

If billionaire romcoms that contain these subgenres are your thing check this book out !!

Enemies to lovers
Fake engagement
Slow burn

Grace is in a coffee shop wracking her brain on how to make writer's block disappear

Turns out she just needed a handsome distraction and then she is off to an important meeting to her future where you guessed it she has a second run in with the handsome stranger

Just her luck he is her boss and soon they are wrapped up in a contract that makes grace have to pretend to be engaged to him .

Will this plan work or will it be one disaster after the next read to see how it all unfolds ...

I love a good feisty female character
Love the forbidden boss/employee factor
This story contains characters with ADHD and Autism.

I give it a 4

An amazing read, I absolutely loved the banter between Grace and Brett as well as how real their story felt.

It's so hard to trust after being hurt in any way and it's always amazing to read stories where the hurt and betrayal is over come and love replaces it. It definitely doesn't hurt when the story is hot as well.

I'm so happy you kicked your writers bloks butt Evelyn and I can't wait to see what you write next.

The first thought that comes to mind after I read this book is..."OMG, I want more!" The second thought is I won't be thinking of peaches or peach pie in the same way again. Thanks for this Evelyn Montgomery. Romance readers who love a good trope will want to treat themselves to a copy of this book. It features Rom Com | Billionaire | Enemies to Lovers | Fake Engagement | Slow Burn | Comedy.

Brett may be the new owner of O'Connor Publishing House but he is not the stuck up rich guy. In fact, he has a heart of gold and a sinful smile. Grace is one of the authors for Brett's publishing company. The first meeting between Brett and Grace was a meet cute but the second time around was not so sweet. There might have been the label flung at Brett of King Douchebag. Yet, in the end, Grace was totally and utterly ruined by Brett!

There was this one scene where Brett's Grandmother, Marie is giving sexual advice to Grace. She tells Grace to make a man happy starts in the bedroom. You have to satisfy and encourage his sexual fantasies, so he does not have them with other women. Grams then proceeds to tell Brett that is what she did with her husband. She would wow him with things he never thought they'd try together.

I originally dnf'd this book for a few reasons-that I will divulge in a second-but I decided to go ahead and finish off the last sixty pages or so that I had left, and overall it helped with my rating.

My decision originally came from the fact that I felt the main characters were written too similarly.

I'm aware that there has to be something the characters have in common, but it wasn't that. It was the way they thought, the expressions they had, and all of the repetition that I just couldn't get over.

It felt like Brett and Grace were one and the same, with a few different aspects in the backstory-which I later found was more differences than I thought-and a lot of the middle chapters just felt filler, as though everything was stagnant and the same thoughts were repeating in a mantra almost.

I got tired of Grace being called a peach in a myriad of ways. Like, I get that he thought of her as his little peach and she was sweet and juicy like a peach. I got that. I just got tired of reading it every few pages that had Brett's point of view. The tension that the author was trying to make just felt a bit out of reach for me, and instead of anticipation, I began to feel a bit bored and tired of the same old thing.

Some things that happened in the book I felt were a real exaggeration. In reality, those things definitely would not have played out that way, and would have honestly been sooo different, or you know, non-existent. I realize that it's fiction and literally anything can happen if the author just wishes for it to, but I'm sure I'm not alone when I say that a bit of realism makes the story better and more believable. Realism, to me, drives the hea.

There's something else that I didn't enjoy, and this one is more because of me than the author and the writing. There was a sufficient lack of steam. Yeah they had a couple of getting hot moments, but no bed spring time until like the last 20% of the book, which sucked big time. Now the steam we got was actually really good, and at that point I forgave a bit for the lack of steam in the rest of the book. This fact made it easier for me to finish the book after all, because I'm a horny girl who likes to live vicariously through fictional romance characters.
x
I know, I need a life.

I'm working on it.

But I digress.

There were a few of things that I actually did like-possibly even love- about this book.

I loved getting the backstory the way we did with Grace. Brett's was okay too, but Grace's I really enjoyed reading. Both the MCs did have depth, and they gave the story an interesting tone. Although I think they were a bit too similar, they did have unique qualities that I found to be effective in dividing them.

Brett was actually a very understanding guy. He took his sweet time telling a couple of things to Grace, but at the end of it all, he stood by her and was willing to put in the work for them. I originally didn't think he was going to be like that. I thought he would be more guarded and more of the one separating things between them, but surprisingly I thought Grace was more of the guarded one.

I loved that Brett knew what he wanted with Grace. There was a decent amount of push and pull in this story. Although it got a bit drawn out about halfway, at first it was really good and I enjoyed the back and forth banter. Grace was sassy and confident, yet strangely vulnerable. And Brett was strong willed, determined, and also strangely vulnerable.

I didn't mind that similarity between them, because I knew that was likely what connected them, aside from the raging attraction.

I really loved the ending. I thought it was funny and gave really good insight into the minor characters. I especially loved the point of view from the author. I thought that was a unique touch that not many avid readers receive.

So despite my misgivings about this book, I didn't hate it. I did take forever to finish it, and I doubt that I will give it a reread, but all in all it wasn't a horrible read. I think my rating would be higher if the repetition was dialed back some, and the characters just had a bit more differences in their way of thinking.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Okay so this has to be my favorite book by Evelyn by far. As much as I love all her romance and spicy novels there's just something about this book that just makes it different. Maybe it's the writing style but it was perfect to me. It has it's funny witty moments but also as your reading it, it's like she was breaking down the fourth wall (theater terms for including the audience like speaking directly to them).

Grace is like every other author out there. Way to hard on herself trying to publish the next big thing. She knows it doesn't have to be a best seller and it can be like every other book out there but she still wants it to be slightly different. If only writers block wasn't a thing. So, she goes to this little coffee shop just to get away and focus. No distractions especially no self-gratifying, panty dropping distractions. But in walks Mr. Brettly Beckett the complete definition of distraction and out the door her focus goes. At least one good thing came from it. As soon as he leaves her inspiration hits and she's feeling confident drafting her first few chapters and has the book all planned out to show the publisher later. But little did she know her new publisher was going to be no other than the panty dropping self- gratifying distraction himself!

Brett is in a tough position. He signed a stupid contract when he was younger that if he doesn't marry by 30 he loses everything. And I mean everything he's worked so hard for including his company and trust fund. So when his father calls expecting him for dinner with his fiancé he panics. His father doesn't know he broke up with her months ago and he must come up with a plan fast. So why not make a deal with Grace for one night only to save his own ass. Unfortunately, his grandmother had other plans and it wasn't one night only. Now they are cooped up together in a cottage curtesy of the mastermind herself Grams. One can only imagine what's going to happen. Will sparks fly? Will she get her inspiration? Or will tempers flair and it turns out to be a disaster?

Peaches is the perfect blend of sweet and sour. I loved the dynamic between Brett and Grace and how intense the two of them were and the battle of wills. The way Grace started feeling like home with Brett's grandmother. And when Grace needed to go home to help her mother with her brother Brett went right along with her and he felt at home with her mom. Like he finally belonged somewhere. Grace's brother who has autism even accepted him as part of the family. All in all I loved every second of this novel and can definitely say I never read a writing style like this before but will gladly read it again. Thank you Evelyn!

Ok so I’m kinda torn on how I feel about this book. I received it for free in exchange for an honest review so here it is.

First, the two characters are charming and I absolutely LOVED the character development. But some major pieces to each character felt very un-dealt with. For example, everything around Grace’s ex husband feels like something that should have shaped her more in her relationship with Brett but it gets wrapped into a quick one line in a pillow talk paragraph.

The story lacks a main issue point- the main thing the author builds, which should have been the boy loses girl part of the story (boy meets girl, boy gets girl, boy loses girl, boy wins girl back) is also wrapped into the same pillow talk paragraph I mentioned above so there isn’t really any big conflict at the end… then the last chapter is jumping between so many characters points of view and while there is a comedy around it, it was very unnecessary.

Sorry for being vague, I am trying not to include spoilers. Overall, character development was great, the two are likable and Archie is by far my favorite character but the story lacks an arc then would have made the ending sweeter (see what I did there?)

Readers, be prepared to not want to stop reading this book until you get to the last page. This book is centered around Grace, but Brett calls her Peaches. She calls Brett Romeo, among other names. Grace has a bad case of writer’s block and Brett stops at her table in the coffee shop and distracts her. She doesn’t need any distractions, especially of the hot male persuasion, lol. Then, she learns he’s her new boss and he needs a favor. She’s going to be his fake fiancée at his dad’s place. When they arrive, Grams (Marie), tells them they’ll be staying in the newly renovated cottage. I’m not going to leave any spoilers, but I will say this isn’t cut and dried romance. There’s secrets, interfering people, fantastic banter, and overall a good story. Grab your copy and see what happens. I received a complimentary copy of this book from AuthorsXP and this is my voluntary and honest review.

Enjoyed reading this story. I loved that the author uses different points of view in the book. A chance meeting in a coffee shop leads to an instant attraction that later turns into hate/lust. Grace is an up-and-coming author whose publishing company was brought out. Brett recently acquired a new publishing company and a new author. They both realized they had previously met in the coffee shop. Brett proposes a proposition of a fake relationship, which Grace is hesitant to take but needs the advance. As they work together and with the help of Brett’s grandmother, feelings evolve, and lines are crossed. They both have secrets that challenge their relationship, but once revealed, it makes their love and relationship stronger. It is an engaging and, at times, funny and emotional read. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Brett makes a strong first impression on Grace and the reader and his charming allure quickly wins you over. Grace was a strong character whose quick-witted personality made for quick building chemistry between the two main characters and interactions full of banter and sass. Their relationship however was a mix of slow building and fast paced. The book spans some time which creates building sexual tension between the two but the time jumps add that fast paced element which keeps pages turning.

The story of Brett and Grace had an enjoyable story line. It’s romance, plot, characters, and the teasing made this a book which provides escape. Throw in the little twist and this book has more to it than it may initially seem.

Well written with good characters, family drama, past baggage, good dialogue, and a slow burn to an explosion of steam. Grace and Brett have a meet cute only to run into each other unexpectedly later and understand that they both need each other professionally and personally. What comes next is the realization that each other is the half they have been missing, but a secret contract might just be their downfall. My only criticism would be that I prefer a little more angst between the characters so that the ending is that much sweeter but read to the end for a surprise twist. This was the first book I have read by this author, and I look forward to reading more. I received a free copy for an honest review.

TW: Rape; bullying of a person with Autism

Despite the TW, Peaches is a lighthearted story for the most part. Grace is an author who is struggling with severe writers block when Brett makes his way into the coffee shop and starts talking to her. He has a profound effect on her, and she on him, and they each decide if they ever see each other again, then it’s meant to be. Little do they know, they won’t have to wait long…

This sweet romance has great tropes: fake dating & close proximity in particular and Evelyn’s spicy scenes are next level (let’s just say a guy at the gym tripped on the treadmill when he glanced over to my iPad 😬)

This was a nice palate cleanser after all the heavy fantasy I’ve been reading lately.

-sigh-
Where do I start with this book, because Evelyn CRUSHED IT AGAIN! The amount of tension in this book is UNGODLY! There are spicy scenes throughout the book but the first sex scene isn’t until 84% way through and it is hot! She mentions the plot line of her Dominant Duet series (I screamed) and the sheer amount of SHOCK I got at the ending was unbelievable! The cheeky way she tells you to go back to chapter one KILLED ME! The entire first 4 pages, the ending, and all of the inner dialogue of the FMC is literally just Evelyn ranting about her writing and it’s astonishing to listen to a writer talk like that about themselves and writing. I can not recommend this book enough!
