Sorry, but this was NOT an enjoyable book at all. 30 chapters to spout off a diatribe about a scandalous wedding that didn't happen. No real love story at all took place here. Just a rant about a lady being jilted at the altar and how everyone mistreated her except for the main male character, who barely even knew her. I can't say enough about this being a bad book and not worth even one star.
First of all, a Duke is never addressed as "My Lord". His ducal address is always, always, always, "Your Grace" when spoken to or "His Grace" when spoken about. Authors, please get it right and stop offending the readers' intelligence on such matters!
Duchess...DUCHESS!! Please, for the love of all that is holy, get it right!!! A Duchess is never called "Lady", she is "Her Grace" and "Your Grace", the same as the Duke! Good lord! Authors, do your research and get it right! Did the reader really have to endure 30 chapters of wrongfully addressed characters? The wife of a Marquess is NOT a Countess...she is a Marchioness!! The daughter of a Duke is NOT addressed as that of Lady (whatever the last name is) but as Lady and whatever her first name is!
Long, drawn-out chapters with nothing but inane information and unnecessary words fill most of the chapters. I know authors have a word quota to fill, but the least they could do is fill it with interesting things and not just drone on and on and...about nothing.
With all that said, there were many wicked and vile characters in this book, not the least being the half-sister of Lady Victoria.
Almost the entire book was about the scandal created at Lady Victoria's wedding that didn't take place. For 23 chapters there were only 3 or 4 meetings between the two main characters. The rest was the Ton being their usual gossipy selves and all the people who were against Lady Victoria. This was a poorly written novel that had little to no romance, no chemistry. It was all drama, angst, and hatred about and towards Lady Victoria. There really was no time for them to fall in love, so what was the point in writing a romance novel if the author wasn't going to give the couple time to at least be in each other's company for more than a mere dance or a few stolen moments in the park? The amount of time they spent together could probably total perhaps an hour at best. How do you fall in love in that short of a time? I'm just glad this book wasn't part of a series.

It looks like I am the only one who read this book and was left depressed. I cannot believe all the cruel and abusive treatment this young lady receives at the hands of her family members and her ex betrothed. All of this betrayal and cruelty towards her on her wedding day, is just an ongoing abusive behavior towards her (which starts after her half sister is born). Her mother, half sister and stepfather all treated her abysmally yet it is all swept under the carpet right up to the very end of this book. All her family members were a disgrace and I felt they should have experienced regret and consequences for such horrid treatment of their flesh and blood. I do not read books to see cruel actions go unnoticed or without consequences. This book was a big disappointment to me.
In my opinion, no matter how much the duke loved her, all the abusive and cruel actions towards our sweet heroine should have been addressed and handled. After all they were her family and gave her grief since she was a very young child. The author did nothing towards making them bear accountability for their horrendous behavior towards her and I was left disappointed and feeling sad despite it’s happy end with the duke and her

Eleanor Keating – London Bachelors – The Duke’s Scandalous Waltz – Reviewed 4/24/21 – Read 4/15-16/21

When your betrothed tells you at the alter that he loves another, how can you face the world?

Victoria Hamilton has waited happily for this day all of her life, her wedding day! But today that special long waited-for event has turned into the worse thing of her life. While standing at the altar, not only does her betrothed tell her that he loves another, that person is her stepsister!!!

Now, her mother and stepfather are obstinately pushing her to find herself a husband, and it has to be this season! Victoria would rather face the world alone than go through another disaster like last year, but that is not to be. She is dragged to every party and event to be put on display for the bachelors! Her mother just won’t stop, and her stepfather seems not to care, what could be worse? So far Victoria had been able to hide her feelings of pain in attending these events, but there is no way that she could have ever prepared herself for the disaster to come!

Trent Westbrook just could not do anything right in his father’s eyes, so he took the only avenue that he could, he left. After spending a wonderful year in France, Trent received a letter from his mother telling him that according to his father’s will if he does not return, he will be cut off. During his year in France Trent had been working to set up connections and contacts preparing for his future. At this point, though he had not been able to complete all of the things that he would need, so he is forced to return.

A few days after his return he receives even worse news! Another ultimatum in the will, he has to take a proper wife by the end of the current season. Wife, now this was something that he felt he was not ready for at this time. But to complete his plans for the future he would have to start looking or lose everything that he had been working for. He feared what type of marriage that it would be, he had always hoped to marry for love.

Join Victoria and Trent as they face their worst nightmares head-on…

What did I like? This was such an interesting read. What would you do if it happened to you? Then what was even worse would be for it to be your stepsister!!! The ultimate betrayal but hang on folks because it gets even worse. The other thing I liked about the storyline was the romances that blossomed for each of them. Victoria can’t believe another man of any proper background would be able to accept her after the scandal of the wedding. Then Trent cannot believe that he could possibly find a woman that he could love, much less want to marry. Oooh, what tangled webs we weave!

What will you like? Mystery, deceit, romance, fear, love, deception, romance, and more romance. Did you get it yet? Extraordinary characters, excellent descriptions, exceptional details all make this into a beautiful love story. One that takes two people by storm and neither one of them wants to believe that it is happening, or for that fact that it could even happen to them under each of their circumstances. This book adds another delightful love story to Eleanor’s London Bachelor’s series. It will have you burning the midnight oil to find out what happens!

Lady Victoria Hamilton believed she was finally getting love. She knows her mother's love is fleeting. Her sister gets all the attention and care. Now it seems her sister is getting Victoria's wedding and fiancee.

James Kendall, the Marquess of Winsmoor, waited until he is asked "do you takes this woman" when he breaks Victoria's heart and dream as he announced he was in love with the sister, Lady Horatia.

Josiah Hamilton, the Earl of Elshire, the stepfather and her mother, Lady Marianne Hamilton, Countess of Elshire, allow the wedding for James and Horatia is to replace Victoria's. This puts Victoria into a depression.

Lady Marianna basically demeans Victoria and her feelings. She constantly tells her to just leave the past in the past so she can make a match this season as she has no choice otherwise. What neither parent tells her is why if she didn't find a match what would happen to her.

Lord Arthur Finch, Viscount of Ixworth, and his daughter Lady Judith are mean, nasty people. Lord Finch wants Victoria and will stop at nothing to have her. Lady Judith gives vailed threats and tells her outright to stay away from her father. Victoria does not like with one of the Finch's.

Trent Westbrook, Duke of Adlington, is hiding out in France when his mother finally gets a letter to him stating he has to return of lose everything. So back to England he goes. The solicitor delivers the news of him having to also get married.

Here are our cast members and a little about them. They will take you on an exciting trip into family dynamics and how each deals as well as finding where you actually belong.

When Victoria catches the eye of Trent our adventure begins. As Victoria heals from her jolting and Trent from an overbearing father, they take you on a romance ride that will have you laughing, crying, and wanting to be there to deal out the punishment.

So come along on this world-wide ride of mischief and mayhem to recency times where anything is possible.

A story that already starts causing shock: the bride is rejected at the altar. And the worst nightmare: the groom admits to having always been in love with her half sister.
Yes, dear readers, Lady Victoria Hamilton became overnight a society pariah.
To make matters worse, Victoria's parents insisted that she continue to attend the Season to not only show that she forgave the traitors (grrrr....), but to find a new fiance.

(I believe that by now you already need to take your medication!)

A year later, Victoria was still the subject of gossip among the Ton. To distract herself, she used to leave very early to walk through Hyde Park (avoiding the crowd), but that day, she is almost run over by a horse that was coming at high speed.

Trent Westbrook, Duke of Adlington, was forced to return from Paris to take responsibility for his title.
According to his father's will, Trent had a deadline to take his place in the House of Lords, just as he would need to find a bride quickly to provide an heir.
Even beyond the grave, his father had the power to drive him crazy and manipulate him!

The ride to Hyde Park was the time he needed to think about his next strategy. The rake times are over.
That's when his horse almost ran over a distracted lady.
And there, their fate is sealed.

Trent finds himself completely taken by Lady Victoria.
She, on the other hand... No, thank you.

All of his plans, now, are to convince her that he's not like her brother-in-law.
But when Trent learns about the morbid plans to force Victoria to marry a much older and not at all nice to her man, the actions would have to be taken quickly.

Get ready for the roller coaster of emotions, with a delightful ending.

I would have been devastated to have been thrown over at my own wedding because my groom fell in love with my sister.
Victoria was once admired by the ton. She was to wed a Marquess. Then he fell in love with her sister. So according to the ton, something is very wrong with Victoria. She becomes a social pariah all because she was abandoned by her groom.
To top it off, her sister is the favorite child. Her mom keeps telling Victoria what a disappointment she is. Both in word and deed. Her father, who is in fact her stepfather, favors his real daughter.
In a world where all hope is lost, Victoria must find a way for herself.

Trent Westbrook is the Duke of Adlington. He hates the ton, he hates society and he hates being controlled by his father. When his father dies, he leaves for France. A year later his mother manages to get him to come home by telling him a partial truth. He finds out that he must marry to inherit his fortune - oh and there is a time limit. He must find a bride, and get married. He sets off to find the one however, he is still reluctant.

When he is riding in the park and almost runs over a lady, he gets off his horse to make sure she is ok. He gets a tongue lashing and is amazed at the audacity of this woman. He does not know who she is, but he starts to see her quite often. He starts to feel a pull toward this woman who is unknown to him, however, he is quite rebuffed by Victoria.

I liked this book. I liked that through it all Victoria remained strong. I liked that The Duke changed as the story progressed. There is a lot that I liked but I would hate to reveal more of the story. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

The Duke’s Scandalous Waltz

I had the privilege of reading this delightful tale, from Eleanor Keating.
The story follows a forlorn, down on her luck, a young lady by the name of Victoria Hamilton. Doomed on the verge of spinsterhood when her bridegroom abandons her at the altar—only to marry her sister, Horitia. Victoria’s reputation ruined, is left as a social Pariah among the ton. Though Victoria feels her future is bleak; little does she know a saving grace is about to save her from a disastrous future.

Enter Trent Westbrook, Duke of Adlington. When the duke is called home from France via his mother, Trent is reluctant to assume his role as head of the family. When a stipulation is in place (find a bride by the seasons’ end, or forfeit the inheritance), Trent finds himself in between a rock and a hard place. That is until he meets lady Victoria.
Victoria keeps Trent at arms- length, against her better judgment. Thankfully, Trent is not one to give in so easily. When he finds all that he has been longing for in the untouchable woman, Trent is determined to make Victoria his, despite all the obstacles that bar the lover’s path.
I enjoyed these two characters. I enjoyed the fact that Trent softens his resolve, thus finds a way to fulfill his duties and find love in the process. And Victoria finds a way to love again after she faced humiliation and heartache.
All in all, I think I like this story the best so far. Eleanor was able to take an over-done idea and place her own special twist onto the mix. Definitely a sweet, warm-hearted read.

The Duke’s Scandalous Waltz is by Eleanor Keating. Although the book is good and I did enjoy reading it, it began almost exactly like her other book, True Love for the Reluctant Earl. The names have been changed and some of the circumstances; but the characters are the same. It is almost like reading the same book over again. I did keep reading it to see if it changed. I am certainly glad I continued reading it because it definitely did change from the other book and in a most exciting way. I definitely liked reading it.
I really liked the way it started with Victoria being abandoned at the altar by her fiancé, Lord Kendall. The fact that he and her step-sister used her wedding plans to get married was unintentionally cruel; but at the same time, I understood. Everything was ready so why not use it. It was definitely callous of all of them. I kept getting angry at society and the way they treated Victoria. It seems it is always the wronged person who gets the blame. It did anger me that everyone ignored what was going on. From what I have read, this was par for the course in that time period.
The ending was definitely not what I expected which for me makes a good book. A book that brings out different emotions and sometimes anger with what is going on also makes a book exceptionally good and interesting for me.

Shame and disillusionment!

Lady Victoria was the one rejected at the altar and yet, she was the one whose reputation was savaged by the ton because she was a woman, while her ex-groom happily married her own sister after Victoria ran from the church. Now, she is expected to hold her head high and find another husband while she ignores the whispered insults floating around her. What man can possibly want a woman with such a tarnished reputation for his wife?

Trent Westbrook, the new Duke of Adlington, has been in France for the past year, relishing his freedom from the English ton and the enjoyment of being out from under his late father’s thumb. His mother’s letter is an unpleasant surprise. Under the provisions of his father’s will, Trent must return to England and claim his title or forfeit his inheritance. When he arrives, he is shocked to learn that there is another provision that she neglected to mention. His inheritance also hinges on his marriage within the year.

Eleanor Keating is one of my favorite historical romance authors. I can always count on her to deliver a clean, well-written story that will give me hours of wonderful reading. This beautiful romance is no exception!

This story pulled me in right from the beginning when our heroine, Victoria, was left at the altar by her fiancé after revealing he was in love with her half-sister. Because of her fiance's selfish and cruel act, the ton now thinks of her as damaged in some way, and her family is no better, telling her she should just forget the past and move on and constantly telling her what a disappointment she is, leaving her feeling depressed and unwanted. When the Duke of Adlington, Trent, quite literally runs into Victoria in the park, he feels an immediate pull towards her and begins to see her more often. Trent was called home to take his place as the head of the family and he must find a bride. After getting to know Victoria, he thinks he just might have found the perfect one. Such a delightful story with two wonderfully written characters, I really enjoyed the story and watching Trent and Victoria grow inevitably closer. This book was just the thing when I needed a sweet, clean story to get lost in. Well done, Ms. Keating!!

This an emotional, realistic story of Victoria and Trent. All throughout the book as much pain, heartache and neglect Victoria felt and experienced she managed to try to rise above it. It was difficult for under her smile was a gentle kind heart subjected to the cruelty of the ton and her family. When Trent came into her life for the first time in a long time, she felt that all would be alright. But Trent's life was a bit complicated. His mother was trying to force a match between him and a self-centered shrew. When Victoria's life was endangered, his real feelings for her came through. Unexpectedly the real feelings of Victoria's shameful family did also. Trent did not disguise his disgust for Victoria's family. The latter end of the book all I could do was smile as good fortune smiled on Victoria. I loved the ending and the extended epilogue was a happy bonus. I really enjoyed it and do recommend it.

61% in, and I am rather unimpressed by the hero. His inner thoughts indicate he dislikes Lady Rowena, but whenever his mother blatantly intimates that they have an understanding and are soon to be betrothed, he does NOTHING to contradict her! Dude, you’re a duke, for the love of god please learn to stand up to your mother before you find yourself married off to a right bitch.

This has a delightful premise, but too many flaws for me to love it. The largest being the complete and utter lack of justice or comeuppance. Horrible half-sister? Gets everything she ever wanted. Awful stepfather? Minimal repercussions. Mom apologizes but I still can’t understand why she was so abusive to her daughter. Conniving other woman is theoretically disappointed but we never see her get what she deserves. Add to this instalove and a surprising lack of angst, and it adds up to not really being my thing. I thoroughly enjoyed this regency romance. Poor Victoria--looked down upon by the ton since her former fiance left her at the altar and married her half sister on the same day!
Months later, when Trent Westbrooke, future Duke of Aldington, comes upon Victoria, she's heartbroken, raising his attention and curiosity. Trent must marry within a month in order to inherit his father's title and property. He abhors all of elite society's rules and soon after returning to England. becomes Victoria's defender and protector--especially when with a sudden twist and danger comes upon Victoria (while her family seems to care less). I love strong and caring heroes who will do everything to protect and rescue their damsel in distress (And, oh, those secret trysts in the garden!). I received a complimentary ARC of this book and have freely given my honest opinion in this review.

First-rate book.
A lady who has been humiliated by her own sister and a man who despises society but must marry due to an ultimatum is the basis of Eleanor Keating's new book. Trent Westbrooke and Victoria Hamilton meet and it is a good thing because they are pretty much the only nice characters. Her parents are horrible plus Lord Arthur Finch and his daughter these two are anything but charming. You can see why Victoria may have a hard time with the issue of trust. This twisty piece will keep you on your toes it is such an engaging storyline and a rollercoaster of emotion. It is a really good well-written piece that I highly recommend. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.

I Loved It! From the first page to the last you will be spellbound by The Duke's Scandalous Waltz as it unfolds beautifully. Eleanor Keating has given readers a book that is well-written, characters that are well thought out and each one came to life and you find yourself drawn into their story, heartfelt dialogue and an enjoyable plot. With an unexpected beginning that has you saying "what" through the tons viperious tongues Victoria will meet Trent, the Duke of Aldington and the two will find themselves drawn to one another. But with their love comes a villain who will do anything to get his way with the outcome could be deadly with tension-building twists and turns that will keep you reading until the very end.

Perfectly horrible behavior!

There are all kinds of catastrophic occurrences that come to mind at those words, but our author has gone one step further with our young heroine's dream. She's caused a terrible scene in front of the ton that may ruin our wonderful young lady.
A young man has been called back from Paris to take up his ducal duties as the year of grieving his father's lose nears an end. He's immediately faced with the particulars of his father's will that seek to control him from the grave. "Do as I wish, or forfeit your inheritance!"
A great read with two well conceived main characters and a family no one should ever have to endure! You won't want to miss this fast paced treat!

First of all, it's like the hero didn't understand that he is a duke for f**** sake. He does nothing when his mother's speaks for him, contrary to what he wants.

Secondly, the heroine was spineless. I dont not like heroines who just sit and take it.
Thirdly, the couple barely got some screen time together. I dont how they fell madly in love with each other. They barely spoke. They just saw each other four times briefly.

And what was it with the horses...

And my gosh!!! It was a long read. Chapters and chapters of just explaining the wedding that did not happen and how the heroine was being mistreated by society. There was barely any dialogue in this book. How did the hero know that the heroine has a kind heart.

I was given an ARC of this book by the author for an honest review.
Victoria is humiliated, devastated and embarrassed when her fiance leaves her standing at the alter. What could be worse, he is in love with her sister and marries her instead on the same day. She can't even go out in public, without people talking about her. Trent needs to marry to fulfill his Father's wishes to inherit the estate and title of Duke. He wants nothing to do with the Ton, but he must do this. Then he meets Victoria and his life changes. There will be trouble along the way, but can they make it to the alter. Delightful story.

Lady Victoria has a hard time during the Season in London. Having been jilted at the altar the previous year, the ton still gossips. Since her family is anything but loving and supportive, Victoria has no one to help her through her hardships. So when she meets Trent, she does not think a relationship is possible…
This story was very enjoyable though very sad. Reading about such awful family support makes me feel sorry and, simultaneously, thankful for the relationships I have with mine. Enjoy reading about Victoria, how she finally overcame all the hurts of family and Society, and how she forgave the people who hurt her most.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

A breath of fresh air

To see parental favoritism, manipulation by half sister, and betrayal by those who should have loved her bring disgrace upon Victoria was unsettling but the way society handled things then. There were precious few who accepted her in spite of the scandal of her past. It took an honest man just returned from a year abroad and not knowing of the scandal to seek to really know her. With everyone working against them, how will they find their HEA? Great book.

Received ARC in return for this, my honest review

The story of Victoria and Trent. Victoria's reputation ends up in tatters through no fault of her own but rather by the treatment of the man she thought she loved. This part of the story is heart-wrenching. But fortunately, this is a romance and Trent, a young man with his own challenges, sees the situation for what it is and sees her for the person she is. The plot takes us through the ups and downs of both their lives. Interesting and emotional to the HEA we are wishing for them both. I received a free copy of this book from the author. The honest opinions in this review are my own.

This novel gives us a picture of Polite Society which is less than flattering but feels painfully relevant. Most novels about a scandal make the scandal feel distant. This one gives it to us from the point of the view of a young lady ruined by no fault of her own with all of its ingloriously insulting prejudiced slanderous mudslinging along with the less than parental consideration and concern of said young lady's guardians. The author does not pull any of the emotional punches in this tale, but it really helps that the author also provides a "parfit gentil knight" to the rescue!

I am shocked that this is considered a "romance" between these two. She is jilted at the altar, which we hear about her depressed state for nearly the whole book. The "hero" mistreats her abominably, in my opinion, then she decides towards the end, out of the blue, to become a bluestocking after pining away for 3/4 of the book. I hate wasting money and time; both are of equal importance to me.
I am sorry, I cannot recommend. Thank you!

I really enjoyed this book. She is bitter and looking for a marriage of convenience in her outlook on marriage. The main male character is looking to marry. I use reading as my downtime. I am not looking to see if the author gets every detail right. I am looking at the love story and how the man treats the woman. Again I enjoyed the love story the back story just makes it interesting.
