The Pink Coffee Shop

Rate this book
It’s only a list. So why does her whole world fall apart when it suddenly disappears?

Rosie Nash’s job as a daytime television show runner keeps her busy. Every second counts in the land of live TV and that’s just looking after her colleagues… and their endless demands. Rosie doesn’t mind, she loves life on the go and being away from the spotlight suits her fine. Besides, can you imagine if anyone discovered who she really was? Exactly, neither can she.

It’s all okay because she has her very own haven, The Pink Coffee Shop, which she visits after every show. It’s run by her lifelong friends, Wanda and Millie. And it gives her just the sanctuary she needs. Plus, she has her list which she carries with her wherever she goes because… well, that’s for Rosie to know.

But life begins to unravel when Rosie loses her list and she finds herself forced into the limelight. Then, when she finds a strange man sitting in her seat at The Pink Coffee Shop, her well-ordered life is never the same again.

The Pink Coffee Shop is about love, friendship and finding a way to move on when you just want to stay in the past.

It’s for anyone who has ever watched a loved one suffer and know, deep down, there is nothing you can do.

Deeply sad read

This book was not what I thought it was. At first I thought it was slow and not sure what direction it was going also kind of depressing. But at the end of chapter 10 I was deep crying and finally understood what the book was about, there is a slow burn romance (no sex classy done) It is a deeply sad journey for the main character. The main storyline is about mental health in different ways how you cope and love and friendship. The title kind of confused me because she worked next door in the TV studio, the coffee shop is where her best friend Millie works along with her mum winds they are soft of adopted family of 22 years. (Maybe Millie should of had her story first?)
This is book 1 not sure what book 2 is yet hopefully more of the characters from this one.
I did feel the ending was kind of WHAM.Kind of a cliff hanger but not.

Although the general storyline is quite nice, I didn’t enjoy the style of writing. The book is based around a list which is quoted relentlessly, disrupting the flow of the writing. Rosie is an anxious person and the way the book is written made me feel uneasy and anxious too. Perhaps that was intentional and it is actually good writing, but that is not how I want to feel when reading a book.
The ending is quite abrupt and predictable, but the story is nice enough.

Not sure about this book, started really slowly but got better towards the end. Thought Rosie was really negative even though there were good people around her.

This book. Oh man. I can't say enough good things about it. It was brilliant and touching and hard to read in the most perfect way and at the end I just said, "....ohh..... I want more!"

“I need my list.” The Pink Coffee Shop by Ellie Barker

Finally got that Wednesdays we show pink books thing. 😂 Though I did want it with Christmas theme but I have nothing pink that’s Christmasy. Ah well. And this is a late post too.

3 stars. Or maybe 2.5 stars.
I like the Pink Coffee Shop, the idea that all gadgets are banned in the shop. But I couldn’t warm up to Rosie. She sadly is traumatized from her parents’ untimely death and her aunt’s downward spiral and clings to the list of sayings her aunt wrote for her to remember. She’s lucky to have friends like Wanda and Millie. And Sam.

There’s this saying on Rosie’s list: beware of the takers. And I couldn’t help but think that Rosie is a taker herself. Which made it hard for me to cheer for her.

I finished the book. Mostly because I wondered how Rosie would get herself out of her trauma. Still wondering that actually.
