An excellent follow up to the first Aqua dog book. The plot in this addresses droughts and fire. It was well done and a good read.

Aqua Dog loved to play & swim in the water.
1-day it quit raining & all the water supply dried up.
The hot winds began to blow dust everywhere.
The bushland caught on fire & all the animals were in danger.
Aqua Dog ran to the farmhouse door & began to bark.
What did he/farmer do?

An awesome book cover, great hand-drawn black & white or colored pictures charming illustrations & proper font & writing style. A very professionally written children’s (preschool/elementary; MS age) fire safety storybook. It was quite easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters, settings, etc. to keep track of. This could also make another great children’s educational presentation (fire safety), movie, an animated cartoon, or better yet a mini-TV series. There is no doubt in my mind this is an extremely easy rating of 5 stars.

Everyone's fave dog 'Aqua' is back, but this time he's in a real pickle. This beautiful dog who loves to swim faces his biggest challenge yet - a fire threatening to damage his beloved farm - the flora, fauna and of course Farmer and master. Aqua and Farmer work together but the fire digs in... What will Aqua do? My boys were hooked on this one, start to finish. Alison Mutton's incredibly accurate illustrations are the perfect compliment to Lisa's writings. Another beautifully written story by an author who continues to make a name for herself in this industry. The book finishes with a 'FIRE SAFETY' message, which we all should read. I also highly recommend the Luna Lucy series of Lisa's books to anyone out there. Can't wait to see what's next Lisa!

Great book to talk about water conservation and fire safety
This book is a perfect book for older elementary kids to talk about water conservation and fire safety. The illustrations are gorgeous and story doesn’t shy from the weighty important and timely subject. For children in Australia this book would also be a really good book to start conversations about current events and the importance of rebuilding after disasters. In the tradition of Fred Rogers who didn’t shy away from talking about important subjects with children this book presents a natural disaster in a way that a child can understand.

Aqua Dog Flames is a lovely and meaningful children’s story that combines adventure, friendship, and an important lesson about bushfire safety. I especially liked how Aqua Dog’s relationship with his owner is placed at the heart of the story, making the dangers of drought and bushfires feel personal rather than simply educational.
The rhyming storytelling makes the book engaging and accessible for young readers, while the Australian bushfire setting introduces children to a very real natural disaster in a way they can understand. The message about preparation, safety, and the strength of friendship comes through naturally without making the story feel like a lesson.
I also think this would be a useful book for parents and teachers looking for stories that can open conversations with children about natural disasters and staying safe. Aqua Dog is an endearing character, and his courage makes the story both memorable and encouraging.
Overall, this is a thoughtful children’s book with an important message, wrapped in an entertaining story about loyalty, resilience, and friendship. A great choice for young readers who enjoy animals and adventure while learning something valuable along the way.
