The doors of Alexandria are closed.

With Olivia’s betrayal fresh in Daniel’s mind, his relationship with the Booklender’s Guild has never been worse. He’s been used - by Olivia, by Indira, and by Alexandria herself. But the job of Librarian isn’t one you simply quit, so he pushes the frustrations aside, focusing on his duties.

Until he hears a knock at the front door.

With the realization that Leon and his friends have been exposed comes an impossible choice. If he runs away, protecting himself and his Library, they’ll be caught. They’ll die. But if he plunges into the outside world after them, he risks handing Alexandria over to the very mages they've been hiding from for generations.

The decision has arrived - Which world will he pick? Is he Librarian Owl? Or is he just Daniel, his responsibilities be damned?

Whichever he chooses, there’s no going back.

Casey White lives in Michigan with her husband and the requisite herd of roaming cats. She splits her time - spending her days working the desk as a civil engineer, and her nights writing fiction ranging from fantasy to scifi and everything in-between.

Her stories tend towards the more personal - she favors first person or over-the-shoulder third person that matches punchy, fast-paced storytelling with ongoing internal dialogue.

Her fiction can be found at her website, listed above, or at the subreddit where she publishes her novels one chapter at a time - https://www.reddit.com/r/Inorai/

More Fast Paced Than Book 1

I remember reading a review for the first book in this series saying that it was slow paced and boring. I didn't agree with that; I thought it perfectly put you in the grind of Owl's life and instead of being boring it felt cozy.
This book was a departure from that with much faster pacing and action and I honestly wasn't a fan of it at first, a feeling that was echoed by Owl himself constantly wandering why it got so bad and wishing he could change it. By the end, though, I was happy with how things wrapped up and ended up enjoying the whole journey. In White's other book, Silvertongue, the action felt meandering and gratuitous, but here it all served a purpose and helped with character and world development.
White has definitely honed her craft with this book and hopefully we get to see more of the Library soon.
