Horrible. Horrible. Horrible.

After reading more than 50%, I realized- the author was nowhere close to Jace learning who his father was. And for the life of me, I can’t understand- why this would be ok. Saige allowed all of these interactions with Nash and Jace; while holding a major secret.

So... continuing on, it was over 91% of the story and FINALLY- Nash learns the truth.

I didn’t like anything about this story.

Work Me Good

What an exciting, intense and full of unexpected drama when the company you work at gets sold. Surprisingly it's bought by someone you knew years ago, and not too interested in connecting with again. Their interactions are volatile to say the least, and it's only just beginning. Awesome and full of unexpected drama involving family.

Another great read by Ali Parker who once again brings strong characters in Nash and Sage. The author does a great job pulling you in with all the drama and romance and paints her scenes perfectly ,moving the story fluidly. She gives them a hot chemistry and weaves a realistic story with all the bumps along the way. Loved it!!

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.

I’d give it zero stars if I could. Got to 33% and couldn’t go any further. Nash is a compete and total piece of shit and there is nothing that could be written further that would make me want to read about him, much less read about him getting a HEA. Everyone he comes across in the first 33% tells him he’s an asshole yet he thinks everyone else is terrible at their jobs. No redeeming qualities whatsoever. Thankfully this was on Kindle Unlimited so I didn’t pay any actual money to read this.

Absolutely not. Long-winded novel for such a cliché plot with equally cliché, if not unflatteringly one-dimensional characters. Climax and resolution was not hard earned and the both the male lead and female lead are so unappetizing in chemistry. Realistically? Their personalities are the kind of personalities that 100% doomed for divorce so to force them together like this is just not natural and hence not believable.

H-O-T!

Oh my WOW! Have that relief handy, because this book has some super hot sex scenes! Lets do a quick re-cap, then I’ll give you more of my two cents.

Quick Re-cap:

Saige and Nash had a fling about 9 years ago, but Nash dumped her for a trophy wife. Nash divorced the trophy wife after amassing a large fortune.

Now, Nash has purchased the business Saige operates and he steps in to convert the business to his standard business model…cold, heartless, and quiet offices.

Saige doesn’t like Nashs’ business model and they clash immediately, but it’s not all hate between these two! They must find a way to work together to make it through tax season and create a thriving business.

My two cents (spoiler alert):

Sadly, I didn’t actually like Nash or Saige.

Saige annoyed me, because we know she has an 8 year old son and he is probably Nashs’. Plus, the book is written in first person, so I expected at least some inner dialogue worrying about Nash realizing the kid is his, but we don’t get any dialogue like that until almost the end of the book. Why hide it for that long?? Why wasn’t she even a little remorseful for keeping Nash from his son?

Then there’s Nash. He has the emotional intelligence of a rock. He’s a jerk to everyone throughout almost the whole book. He kind of changes towards the end, but I doubt he would have actually changed as quickly as he did.

Plus, he’s suppose to be this super smart business guy, but he fails to notice that Saige’s son looks and acts like he did as a child, and is the right age to be his kid? I’m not buying it.

So, I didn’t really love either of the main characters, BUT I LOVED the sex scenes. Oh my hotness!! Have that relief handy (pun intended)! There were enough scenes to enjoy without you saying, “they’re having sex again?!” I would read this book again for these scenes alone!

PS: rug burns are a real issue with floor sex and I’m glad the author pointed out the perils on non-bed sex! LOL.

Overall, this book is okay. It’s fairly predictable and I know I read a very similar book within the past year or two, but the sex scenes definitely made it worth the read. Give it a shot if hate sex and hot sex scenes are your jam. Happy reading y’all!!

The Boss-hole Gets a Second Chance ❤⭐⭐⭐❤

Tax season is bad enough, but hell's gates just opened wide on Saige when her ex buys the small tax firm she manages. Yes Nash Aarons has made his goal of becoming a billionaire, but his boss-hole ways leave a lot to be desired. There is a history between Saige and Nash, not all of it good, and secrets still hidden. Saige is a single mom dealing with issues at her son's school and now the man she hates to still have feelings for that's turning her life upside down!! What happens when the spark of attraction explodes?? One time is too many and one hundred is not enough!!! What happens when her son bonds with Nash only for Nash to realize he is Jace's father?? I highly recommend this page turning story and commend Ali Parker for the giving Jace the best friend he could have to help him during his difficult time at school. Characters that fit together like a complicated puzzle that makes a beautiful picture. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC if this book and purchased a copy for my favorites collection.

Funny, realistic but long…

The relationship build of both Nash/Saige and Nash/Jace felt realistic. Her hesitancy because of their past as well as sharing her son because of motherly instincts was very believable. I also liked that any disagreement was resolved rather quickly (by that, I mean not drawn out over several chapters but rather done over a few pages).

I didn’t agree with her referring to herself as a “good little girl”… she was a mom, most mom’s get offended being referenced as a child in general as they have a child of their own, it’s was weird. It’s like a man asking to be called “daddy” during sex, gives me the creeps.

Noun repetition. More often than necessary the same noun was used within a paragraph multiple times, sometimes within the same sentence. Personal pet peeve.

Overall the book was good. Great world building. The backstory was great, though no mention of Saige’s family (where were they to help with a child?). Challenges were quickly worked through. The book felt a bit drawn out, not terribly bad though. Good original take on the boss love affaire.

Good story

Nine years ago Nash dumped Saige to marry a woman who could help him with his goal of being more successful than the father who abandoned Nash and his mother to a life of poverty. Now the extremely successful and divorced Nash walks into the Accounting firm he just bought and finds Saige is working there. As their time together lengthens, so does their attraction to each other. When Saige's eight years old son is picked on at school, Nash starts to spend time with him.

The book is very good, much better than the title, in my opinion. The plot is no different than many rekindled romance stories, but the minor characters add depth to the story. Jace and Caitlin are cute little eight year old and the author writes them perfectly.

Enjoyable, easy-to-read, happily-every-after story.

Unfortunate

I actually forgot who wrote this because I've read many books by her and her brother, which I've enjoyed. Where to begin? I almost quit about halfway. You have two characters who are supposed to be intelligent. A billionaire, self made. If you've ever been in the corporate world, you'd know no person could ever be successful with his business model or attitude. Both characters are so emotionally ignorant, it's hard to reconcile that with their business success. It's like the author has to make them stupid to create the conflict. Conversations between them and their bffs leave out obvious plot points. Again, to force tension. I plugged away and finished it. But I'll probably not read Ali's other books that she's written without her brother.

Contentious relationships

Saige is a single mom with an 8 year old son named Jace. She is a CPA and office manager in a tax preparation firm. This firm has suddenly changed hands and her boss has retired. It turns out that the new owner of this business is a man she had a prior relationship with 9 years ago. The owner is Nash Aarons. Nash was initially her customer and she got him out of a financial mess. Nash does not know how to treat employees and several quit. It's crunch time for tax season and Saige can't afford to lose any more employees. She has a very contentious relationship with Nash and their banter is very entertaining. She is also keeping a big secret from Nash. What will happen when Nash learns the truth. I loved these characters and the storyline was great.

Nash and Sage will keep you glued to their drama. Nash is a take charge guy that bought out the firm that Saige worked at. He is a difficult man to work for and as a result they butt heads all the time not to mention that they have a past together on top of everything else. Things came to a head causing Saige to quit. This put Nash in a bind causing him to have to eat crow and ask her to come back. In the meantime, Saige’s son was having problems in school and Nash volunteered to spend time with him providing the male bonding that her son needed. Saige is also keeping a secret one that will come to light soon because Nash is beginning to see things in Jace that reminds him of himself. When the truth is out, will he and Saige be able to move forward, and will it lead to them rekindling their relationship? I voluntarily agreed to receive an ARC of this book for an honest review.

A movie worthy love story

Saige, a tax director and single mom, is floored when it is announced that Nash, alpha-hole billionaire and former lover, is buying the company she works for, considering their past was just supposed to be that. As the story progresses personalities clash, a different direction is needed, and secrets kept may cause it all to fall apart right as they seem good. Ali Parker has created a movie worthy love story in this three part romance read. I had a great time following them on their journey and would love to see Joss get a happy ending. This review is based on the full-length book.

I received a free copy of the book from the author. I had the opportunity to review or not.

Work Me Good. WOW! That was a great read! I was blown away by the emotions the characters endured. It was a roller-coaster ride of emotions that Saige and Nash went through to find there happy ever after. Saige and Nash had a fling that resulted in a secret child. Saige's company gets bought by Nash and now they are back together again. But it wasn't a pleasant reunion. Saige recented Nash for stuff in the past and all the changes he was making to the company. Saige began to have another problem that Nash found himself helping her with and discovering a secret that would change his life. ***I voluntarily read a Review Copy of this book. Saige has worked her way to the top of her company while raising her eight year old son alone. When the owner of the company decides to retire, Saige finds herself having to report to her ex, the new owner who seems determined to ruin the moral in the office.

Nash has turned nothing into something and purchases another new company to his resume. He has his way of running things but the exec in charge, Saige, isn’t having it. She’s the only one willing to challenge him and call him out. The fact that she is his ex and things didn’t end well don’t exactly help them work together. As Nash begins spending more time with Saige and her son, Nash starts wondering if life could turn out differently for him after all.

Generous enough to warrant three stars

So what went wrong with the book?
1. It is so dragging. There are many unnecessary scenes. A lot of books ranging from 280-330 pages have the same plot, trope, tryst.

2. The hero's character is totally out of this world. It is not believable. The first 70% of the book, he's totally against family and love and children. Suddenly in the last 2 chapters and epilogue, a total 720' shift (not just 360').

3. The heroine's way of sheltering her son is too soft. The way they emphasize that the child is too soft and the bullying - the picture that has been painted is not believable.

WORK ME GOOD by Ali Parker
This is an excellent enemies to lovers story. Saige is an office manager in an accounting firm, and a single mother of an eight year old boy. Nash is the new owner who bought out the firm. They had a devastating history from 9 years ago when she was his CPA. The sparks fly between them, from knock down drag out fights to a smokin’ hot rekindling. Ali has done a great job of bringing us a well written story with a provocative plot and extremely likable characters. This is a 5 star book.

Work Me Good is a captivating must read from Ali Parker with a well written story line, twists readers don’t see coming, and wonderful characters readers will fall in love with. I for one loved Nash and Saige’s second chance romance and how Nash a take charge man was able to put his past behind him and find out what he really wanted out of his life. Saige is a strong and capable single mom and business woman. I really loved this novel and can’t wait to read more from Ali Parker.

Recommend

I did not put this book down until I was at about 55% through it, I was hooked!
I was thoroughly enjoying this story! I loved Jace, he was such a great kid! Now, Nash, hmmm, what does one say about him? He has such a strong personality, knows what he needs to do to achieve his goals. Saige, very strong character, just what Nash needs but doesn't know he does.
I felt it dragged on a bit and then the end flies by. I would've preferred it the other way.
I wanted more of their ending.
Definitely recommend

Work Me Good follows Nash Aarons and tax director, Saige Conway. Saige and Nash meet when Saige helps Nash with his taxes, and there is no denying the attraction, but after they’re night together, Saige realizes that Nash is engaged. Fast forward eight years and Nash is back in her life, only as her boss. Their attraction is still there, but this time Saige is a little more reserved since she’s keeping a major secret.. her eight year old son Jace. Will Saige be able to keep her secret? Or will Nash find a way into their lives?

Ali gives us the story of Nash and Saige over 9 year time period. It's an easy read, standalone, HEA.
The story starts in the present and then jumps back and forth a few times bringing us up to date. At the beginning Saige is Management at a tax firm and finds out her company has just been bought out by an ex-boyfriend Nash Aaron's. The story just gets better and better from there.
This has to be Ali Parker's best book yet. Kept me spellbound from page one til the last page.

Nash the male MC was a true fool who has so few redeeming qualities that it was a waste of time to continue to read about him. But wait he’s actually Scrooge. The problem is that his Scrooginess is really pathetic because he not really saving money, he’s losing it. His Ex, the h who is having to work for him is in a real quandary. Bob Cratchit would really sympathize with her. It was more than I could take.

Soo very long

Ok so I am torn. I went into this book thinking I was getting a wham bham meet again, together. What I actually got was 490 pages of back and forth and no shared feelings and quick sex. After that you finally got the sweet happy ending and then poof it’s done. It wasn’t a bad read. It had hot scenes in it but both characters were messed up. Thank goodness it had a happy ending I probably would have been a little peeved.

Meh

A lot of sex, some tender-ish moments, all it needed to be a great romance, was the ‘romance’.
The H was a horses hiney, start to finish.
The h, accepting, and understanding, accommodating, and agreeable to the point of being a doormat.
Even the hea felt flat, cold, and stilted.
It wasn’t great, definitely not a favorite, but better than a lot I’ve read lately. 3 stars, tops.

Its an alright book

I enjoyed this book, but I felt it was a little long winded. There was a lot of repeat conversations and useless dialog in my opinion. This book probably could have been wrapped up in 300 pages or less if the repeating was cut out. But I still really liked this book.
