Chip Zdarsky is a Canadian comic book artist and journalist. He was born Steve Murray but is known by his fan base as Chip Zdarsky, and occasionally Todd Diamond. He writes and illustrates an advice column called Extremely Bad Advice for the Canadian national newspaper National Post's The Ampersand, their pop culture section's online edition. He is also the creator of Prison Funnies and Monster Cops.
While I'm not sure why this wasn't just titled Fantastic Four as that's what it was, it was a good read. The first half was far superior to the second half. I really enjoyed Zdarksy's family drama between Ben and Johnny. I do think Johnny was just because everyone's actions around him were suspect. The art ranged from good to great by a number of artists. Overall, a solid read that basically required reading for the FF series.
Reed, Susan ve çocukların Secret Wars sonrasında öldükleri düşünülürken Johnny ve Ben yas tutarken görüşmez olmuşlar. Reed'in onlara bıraktığı bir not ile tekrar bir araya gelen ikili çoklu evrenleri gezip Richards ailesini bulmaya yolculuğa çıkıyor. Yolculukta onlara Infamous Iron Man Doom da eşlik ediyor.
I read this entire series in the individual issue format, and I still look back fondly on this brief run. I reviewed this series in the past as the two individual volumes, but I'm glad to see it collected here in full. Here are my old reviews of the two volumes:
Collects Marvel 2-In-One issues #1-6
This is the true continuation of where the story went after the "Secret Wars" of 2015. It is also a great Fantastic Four story even though the Earth-616 Reed, Sue, Valeria, and Franklin are still missing in action. I really enjoyed this Multiversal adventure starring the Human Torch and the Thing. The Infamous Iron Man (Dr. Doom) also has an important role to play.
Collects Marvel 2-In-One issues #7-12 and Annual #1
This was a great series that ended too soon. I appreciated the Multiversal action, and by the end of this series...
It’s no secret that the Fantastic Four are my favorite Marvel property, and the Ben/Jonny dynamic has always been a big part of that. I love Chip Zdarsky’s exploration of their relationship in this story arc, which also manages to be equal parts science fiction, family drama, and buddy cop adventure, and just a great deal of fun from start to finish.
I loved the characterization here as the Thing and the Human Torch team-up to search the multiverse for Reed, Sue, and the kids. Doctor Doom makes an interesting third wheel as well. Zdarsky really did well here in breathing new and convincing life into these beloved characters. The artwork was wonderful throughout too!
I’ve never been a FF fan, but Zdarsky brought me into the fold with this title. Masterfully written alongside some amazing artwork. This one is a Fantastic Four must read.
Chip Zdarsky explores how Ben Grimm and Johnny Storm would get along without the rest of their family and takes the duo on a multiversal world tour with some fantastic art.
