Clumsy and amateurish, with clunky dialogue that is just far too informally modern for the setting. Great cover though.

3.5 stars!

This book and I - we had somewhat of a rocky start. Before I go into the why though, let me tell you 3 things. 1st, most of the things are things that others might enjoy, one specific issue has to do with my mother tongue and 3rd, I am going to split this review in characters and plot and give different ratings for each as both affected my reading differently. And now before I go into my #bookreview let me tell you it is going to be a long one.😂

Let’s start with the easiest thing, but also one that disturbed me the most about this book: the Wuff. Now, I am German and “Wuff” is what we call a dogs bark and how children call a dog when they don’t know what to call them yet.. It describes the noise a dog makes and its spelled exactly the same. So, unfortunately every time I read the word I pictured a little kid pointing a finger at a dog it saw and saying “Look mama, Wuff!” Needless to say that I couldn’t take this vicious creatures and especially their leader seriously anymore. Which is a shame really, because the different races surely looked fierce in the minds of others. Sometimes language “barriers” really are the worst… 😕

That being said, let’s go into the first part of my #review - the characters. This part “only” get 3 stars from me for the simple reason that I couldn’t really connect to the characters. In hindsight I also know why: Because of the narrative. #ToKillADragon has a 3rd person narrative which usually I don’t have much of a problem with, however, where I normally rather feel in the role of the main character while reading, this time I felt more in the role of the narrator. I don’t really know why.

I can’t explain it, I don’t have a reason. I simply felt like I was the person telling their story, so I had a really hard time connecting with the characters. Kaleb in my eyes still was the easiest to relate to, as also he was the voice of reason, the one that was most mature out of the trio. Mau felt like a bitter old woman at times, always seeing the worst in everything and not really being supportive, but rather cynical. Towards the last half of the book I felt like she was the devil on Minx’s shoulder, trying to convince her to kill when that truly wasn’t what Minx wanted anymore. I would’ve wished for a little more friendly support and understanding.
And then there was Minx… I didn’t like her in the beginning. Her behaviour was immature and I didn’t like how on one hand she was stuck in her opinion, didn’t want to give up killing and was so hostile towards the things she didn’t know. And on the other hand she was way too naive and trusting in other situations. E.g. with the green woman. There was some sort of inconsistency to her character that made me dizzy and I didn’t know what to think of her. It felt like she didn’t know who she was or like she hadn’t found herself yet. It DID however get better! At roughly 60% of the book there was a moment where I thought “she settled, she understands what is at stake, what’s right and wrong, I think she has found herself and something she wants to stand for”.
If that was the author’s intention? Then a wonderful job was done! But even if not I truly did like the character development that happened with the main character. I went from “I can’t stand her” to “she’s not all bad”. I am still not the biggest fan, but I can always appreciate a character that stands up for their beliefs and that Minx did!

Now that the characters are out of the way, let us continue with the plot which I am currently swaying between 3 and 4 stars, but probably leaning more towards the 4.
Now, it started off with a really interesting premise. A spell that needs to be renewed, an army threatening an entire race and a hunter with a mission to kill not 1 but 2 dragons. Sounds impossible, right?

The overall plot includes multiple “tiny missions”. It reads a little like a game where you have to fulfill multiple quests and side quests before you can take on the boss fight. I like that style. I love characters that have to take on quests. Sometimes I just thought the missions were too easy, at least compared to other books I’ve read recently. BUT there is also an explanation for that. The #HeirOfDragons series is a #youngadult series. However, I read in the author bio that the author also writes some middle grade and with that information in mind I have to say that this book reads more like middle grade than YA. It felt like a more mature middle grade or rather a middle grade storyline with YA ages characters. Which again, this isn’t a bad thing, middle grade and I just usually don’t click. I barely read this genre, because more often than not we don’t click and I feel like this is what happened here. There were also a few scenes and subplots that developed too fast and things that were left a little too open for my liking. What happened to Alla? What about the green woman? How did no-one know about the wizard before? Where there secrets kept hidden? How did *they* ally? I don’t know if we’ll still get to know about those things in the future. I simply felt a little too vague at some points - at least for my liking.
The very first time the enemy army arrived at the Faes’ doorstep and took the hostages I felt like it was too easy for them. They just snatched them away. Where was the fight? Then the story developed really nicely in my opinion, I just missed a little pressure. The pressure where the main character and her companions had absolutely no way out anymore, the pressure where you think “how on earth is it supposed to turn out well?”. This pressure did come in the end. I simply felt like it could’ve been more.
Then the last 20% were GREAT! I loved them. There were a lot of things going on, there was action, it was fast-paced, there was the pressure I was waiting for and I was excited, the atmosphere was great and I was IN the story. The ending was great! It made me curious about how the story would continue.

The last scene between Kaleb and Minx confused me a little, I thought it was a bit rushed, but I am certainly not complaining about that!😌

So, yes… I am almost done with the review - I promise.🤣
It was a little up and down, but it did turn out way better in the end compared to the beginning!
On a different note: Even though I didn’t immediately connect with the characters, the story did flow super fast. It is a fast-paced story with a lovely writing style! Especially the way the author described scenery and details (e.g. in architecture) were great. These scenes came to life before my inner eye and I could really picture myself standing there with these descriptions. There are also easy flowing sentences that make reading even for non-natives super easy. Big plus points for that!☺️

This book contains superficial, flaky characters, plot holes that make Alabama's Golly Hole look like a hobbit's nostril, and descriptions that fail to depart from the grayscale. An easy, quick, and painfully disappointing read.

Anyone who knows me knows that I am a massive fantasy lover. With that being said, I have read my fair share of fantasy novels. How to Kill a Dragon does not disappoint! I love how J.A. Culican was able to incorporate not only character development but also plot development throughout the novel. I also adore that How to Kill a Dragon has my FAVOURITE trope in it! I am now fully involved in Minx and Kaleb and I need more!!! I cannot wait for the second novel! One of the best YA Epic Fantasy novels that I have read this year!!

Overall: 3.5/5
Thank you to BOMM & J.A. Culican for a copy of this book for my honest review!

While this book wasn't my cup of tea personally, I can easily see this series becoming a favorite for YA fantasy lovers. So, with that in mind, I will be writing my review with those people in mind.

Plot & Characters:
This is definitely one of the more unique fantasy worlds I've read, and I really enjoyed the premise! The plot was driven and I had no idea where I was going to end up, in a good way. The characters J.A. created are extremely unique, and I enjoyed seeing a Fae and Dragon Shifter team up! Fans of strong female characters, snarky yet helpful males and talking animals will likely enjoy the main trio!

Romance:
An enemies to lovers romance! Woo! The progression of this romance is really interesting, and I loved being able to see both of their perspectives over the course of the book. Their relationship could still face soooo many crazy pitfalls in the series to come, which is really exciting!

Writing:
Lovely writing! The italics could be a little confusing for mind speaking vs internal monologues. Other than that, I enjoyed it.

Eye Roll

Minx’s nickname is the Dragon Hunter. Why? She was sent out to kill a dragon, but revealed that it was her first time hunting a dragon. Why would she be called the Dragon Hunter if she hasn’t ever hunted a dragon?

This book would probably be a good teenage level book. The writing and character building seems a little simple.

The author seems to be trying to get Minx and Kaleb romantically involved with each other, but the attempts feel shallow. The characters will suddenly have a thought about how cute the other one is (it’s especially silly when they have these thoughts in the middle of a fight scene). And then they will continue on with their quest.

The emotions in this story feel off. Minx wanted to kill Alla for taking Mau. Yet only a few pages later, she’s suddenly concerned with whether or not Alla will live after she was shot by another mysterious group with a poisoned arrow. That’s fine to do, but it needs some sort of transition. What brought about this change of heart? Minx does mention a few pages later that she was alright with Alla dying by her arrow, but the thought of Alla dying to the man who had shot her would mean that he would win, and she can’t stand that thought. Really? That reasoning is so flimsy and it’s akin to a toddler.

What is so special about Heilo Lake? The Fae guard it jealously, which is fine, but what is their reasoning? I think it’s something to do with magic? But I don’t know.

This book was definitely for a younger audience.

This is book one of the Heir of Dragons series and the main characters are Royal Fae Minx and Dragon shifter and heir to the Pyra Clan, Kaleb. Minx has been sent on a mission by her father, one of the Council, to obtain a dragon skin to enable the defensive wards over their lands to be restored to full power. A number of dragons have been spotted for the first time in years, near their borders and since she is nicknamed the Dragon Hunter, she is the perfect warrior to send on the task. She takes along her Faelyr, Mau, a half Fae, half tiger, that she can communicate with telepathically and has had since she was twelve. Before she can start her hunt, she visits her parents at the Council building, only to find an army of neighbouring clans arrive at the gates, led by a fierce vixen Muff called Valry. She sends some of her force into the crowd that has come out and they take people hostage. She demands a dragon skin as payment, or she will call all the hostages. She and her army will return in a week for payment or war!

Now Minx has to try and obtain two dragon skins, having never even killed a dragon before, she faces a difficult task and the clock is ticking! Luckily for her, she has a bracelet with stones in it that light up blue, when she is close to a dragon and she manages to come across one seemingly slumbering in an open meadow. She sends Mau around the side of the patch, to come up and surprise the dragon from the back, as she attacks from the front, but her link to Mau goes silent. She is too busy fighting with the dragon and finding that her arrows have no effect whatsoever against the dragon’s scales. She can’t seem to find a weak spot anywhere on its body or head. What shocks her next, is the dragon turning into a young man! The stunningly handsome young man is Kaleb and he doesn’t want to kill her, despite the long history of animosity between his people and Fae. He senses another dragon nearby, but the scent is wrong somehow, and Minx has realised that Mau is nowhere to be seen. They both look for her, but can’t find her and have lost the scent of the strange dragon Kaleb caught before.

Realising that Kaleb is both a dragon and a man, makes Minx start to rethink the issue of killing him. She will have to wait for another dragon to kill, because she is feeling something she shouldn’t for Kaleb! There is no way Mau would have left Minx of her own choice, so they know someone must have taken her and they need to find her, before Minx can continue on her quest to save her people. What they find in one of the largest human cities, is a level of depravity and Dark Fae meddling with different species to create monstrous creatures, beyond their imaginations. Strange creatures are for sale from an auction, kept covered up in cages. It is only the assistance of a giant woman of an unknown clan, giving them a clue where to look, for them to discover where Mau is being kept, before she gets sold. The person holding her is Alla and she is a rare Dragon and Fae hybrid, who is wanted by no clan and does anything she can to make money. If she could turn into a dragon, maybe Minx could take her skin! Not that Kaleb would allow that.

But it seems the warnings of a coming darkness and visions of a large dark army destroying everything in sight, should be something to worry about. Plus, Minx has been having dreams about Lake Helio and the Silence, whatever that is. Something bad is about to happen and if she can’t get two skins, then her mother will be killed and the army may kill many more of her people. Kaleb suggests he ask the dragon guard to help out and proposes an alliance between dragons and fae, which many would believe unthinkable in the past. It seems the younger generation may be easier to convince than the older ones. If they can’t find some sort of alliance and allies to help fight the coming darkness, then both their races may be annihilated. A foe who wants Alla for her hybrid nature and others like her, faces off against them and even Kaleb’s dragon strength is not enough. This dark mage Torrent has far too much magic and is impossible for them to stop. Kaleb risks his life to stop him taking Alla, clearly against her will, and is badly injured. He is only saved by Minx’s Fae healing magic, already sorely exhausted when Alla was poisoned earlier.

Kaleb and Minx only get a few dragons to volunteer to help out and think that should help against Valry’s army, but Torrent’s army of darkness has added thousands to their numbers and it will be a suicide mission now, but none of them will give up until they are dead. It seems the older generations of both councils are much more reluctant to break a treaty that has stood for centuries and are more concerned with looking out for their own people, rather than their main enemies. But as the saying goes, ‘the enemy of my enemy, is my friend’. They would be much stronger together in the coming battle against darkness. This is just the first volley, there is more action to come, as the dark mage wants to steal the light magic below Lake Helio and somehow the dragon fae hybrids and others like them, have a major role to play, as yet unknown. This is a great start to the adventure, with many different creatures and clans of people involved in the storyline and a young and inexperienced dragon hunter needing to do her job under great pressure, who ends up meeting a dragon face to face and finding they can turn into a man, someone she begins to like rather a lot! Their fathers aren’t happy for them to mix, but I’m sure there will be more from the pair in the next book in the series, as the danger ramps up and visions increase. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

How to Kill a Dragon is book 1 in the Heir of Dragons series by J.A. Culican. It follows Minx, a Royal Fae and Dragon Hunter as she is tasked with killing a dragon and bringing its hide back to her people to refreshing the warding spell that protects their lands. There has been a long distrust & terrible history between her people and the dragons. While heading out to kill her first dragon, Minx is confronted with a neighbouring Clan demanding she provide them with a hide. To make matters worse, there are hostages involved. Minx finds herself torn between her allegiance to her family & the fae and that of her new friend Kaleb, a dragon shifter and heir to the Pyra Clan.

I absolutely loved this book. It was one that I could not put down. It presented a diverse range of races and it was evident that a lot of thought had gone into the societal structure of each race. The story jumped straight into the action, but also at the same time it succinctly built out the world. Being the first book, it wrapped up aspects of the storyline quite nicely while also leaving sections open to expand upon in future books. It did leave me with questions...Oh, so many questions, but that just means I will be picking up the next book to see if there are answers to them.

As for the characters, I really liked both Minx & Kaleb. Initially, I found Mind to be a little self-absorbed and of the mind that Fae are the superior race. As the story progressed, you could see her soften to Kaleb and other characters. As for Kaleb, he was so sarcastic and a little arrogant in the beginning but being paired with Minx, seemed to bring out the best in both of them.

Overall, this book was a pleasure to read. I particularly enjoyed the writing style, it was very clear and easy to keep track of everything that was happening. It was a quick read for me and I think it would be possible for some readers to complete this in a single sitting. I rated this book 4 stars.

I can honestly say that I have stumbled upon a new series and author that has truly sparked my interest. “How to Kill a Dragon” is unique tale about Minx, a fae dragon huntress. The fact that she has been given this title is kind of humorous since she has never hunted a dragon on her life! Yet, for the first time in quite a while the dragons are being active again and Minx’s city needs the hide of a dragon in order to wire up the protection spell keeping the city safe.

The fae have a less than amiable attitude towards the dragons and dragons feel the same. However, before Minx and her leopard companion can even leave the city a massive army of wuff and other creature make a way up to the gates of the city demanding land, access to the holy lake all while taking prisoners one of which is Minx’s mother. She now has seven days in which to bring back a dragon hide for the enemy before they come back with a larger army and kill the hostages.

While Minx goes on the hunt she finds a dragon and soon realizes just how much she doesn’t know about them. They can shift into human form and the attractive dragon standing before her is named Kaleb and they are about to embark on an adventure neither would have ever dreamed possible. Minx gets separated from her leopard and not only will she need to find her it will out her right under the radar of the most powerful man, Torrent, she has ever had the displeasure of meeting. If Kaleb and Minx are going to survive they will have to get past their preconceived prejudices and work together.

I found this tale to be quite entertaining as well as intriguing. Th main characters seem young and immature at times but not in an annoying way. The action scenes are off the charts and I found the characters to varied and well written. I can’t wait to see where this series is heading.

I received an e-arc of this book in exchange for an honest review. This thoughts and opinions are my own.

When this books begins, we learn from Minx’s father that the dragons are gathering, spotted in the area of their home, and that he is giving his daughter a dangerous mission. She needs to kill a dragon and bring back its hide so the elders can use it to reinforce the wards of protection that are in place over Pandling Grounds and Heilo Lake. The only thing is that as Minx and her Faelyr companion, Mau, set out, they don’t know the real danger is much worse than they thought.

I like how the story twists and turns all along the way. New characters show up and take things in another whole direction. The one thing that bothers me is the timeline. Minx is given a certain time frame to achieve her task. But, all the travel and side trips she has to take would, in reality, take a lot longer than it did in the story.

Minx starts out with a clear mission, even if she is not confident in her abilities to be successful. She is singularly focused. But, as the days pass, she changes her mindset some. Very reluctantly, she starts to see a bigger picture, one that surprises her. I like this shift in thinking, this growth throughout the story. Sometimes, the old ways are not the only ways and sometimes they are not the best ways.

Everything leads up to an epic battle. Several times I thought I knew how this would turn out. Each time I was wrong. I liked the ending and it will lead perfectly into book 2.

This was my first read by J. A. Culican. I loved it and cannot wait for the next installment in this new series!

I gave this book 4 stars and highly recommend it to fans of YA Fantasy, Epic Fantasy, and dragon stories.

Minx is a royal fae and fierce hunter. With adversaries trespassing on fae lands, Minx is tasked with hunting down a dragon and returning with its powerful hide so that the elders can restore the protection spell on the land. With her trusty faelyr companion Mau by her side, Minx embarks on a hunt to slay a dragon and save her people. Her first encounter with one shocks her when the fearsome beast shifts into a man. Her handsome foe insists they have a common enemy, and that they should work together to defeat it. Kaleb and Minx form a tentative alliance, working together to find a way to save their people from impending war.

I really enjoyed this one! It's got fantasy, forbidden romance, and shifters. All things I love. The plot is fast-paced and engaging, and I'm very curious to see where it goes next. The world-building is great, and I liked learning about all of the different races. I'm sure we'll get even more information in the coming books.
I liked how Kaleb and Minx's relationship developed. They start as enemies and grow into a tentative alliance, which becomes a solid friendship. The romance was slow burn and sweet. I liked that they helped each other grow and learn more. It felt natural and real. I also liked the overall message of the book.
I definitely recommend this one for fantasy fans!

🦋I think I’ll start with the characters. I had such a strange relation with Minx (main character) when I couldn’t tell if I liked her or not, because I think there should be a little more space for her to show the reader who she really is in the deep her. In other (better written) words, I would appreciate if the spotlight was centred not mainly on the plot, but more on the characters in general. But what you can see (and what I really liked) is her character development throughout the whole book. I really liked Kaleb’s sarcasm (as I myself am really sarcastic).

🦋Since the beginning of the story, the reader is dragged into action and I really like how the author writes battle scenes. Which is, in my opinion, really rare. Although a lot of writers are really good, the battle scenes are really tough to write and when the scene is good, you just know.

🦋Oh, and did I mention that this was a fast read? Because with every page I felt like I needed more and more. And when the end showed up, I was left with a lot of things on my mind. The ending is a perfect bridge to the upcoming books in the series.

🦋I liked meeting all the creatures and loved the world building. I also appreciate that the relationship between two characters (Minx and Kaleb) wasn’t like, we’re enemies and then boom, we’re lovers now out of nowhere. And that it’s taking the longer path.

Thank you to JA Culican and BOMM for my copy of this story for an honest review.

We are introduced to Minx and her Faelar companion Mau, who have been tasked with Killing a Dragon. The Dragon hides are essential to holding the magical wards that protect their lands and people.

-Of course, nothing is ever straight forward in an epic fantasy story -
As the already failing wards weaken further, the council members (including Minx's mother) are taken hostage in exchange for a Dragon Hide!

Minx now must not only provide one Dragon Hide, but 2 Dragon hides to save her people and the ones she loves...

-----
Minx and Kaleb are both a combative force of nature. It is fun to see their back and forth in dialogue, and the softening of their cultural prejudices against each other.
My favourite part of this story is the fantastical mix of species, clans and cultures. They are interesting, Diverse and Unique.

This is a wonderful world of magic, strange creatures and the ever building presence of Evil.
This book is a fabulous call to adventure for any Middle-grade reader/ Young Adult.
It is Book One of the series, so many questions that arise are not answered within this book, but one can assume will be addressed as the series continues.

I give it 4 Stars.

I’m a huge fan of books involving dragons. Enough that despite the fact I adore him (and I’m not saying this just because he reads my reviews), I’ve always been a bit disappointed that he never admitted to me that he’s secretly a powerful dragon shifter (sweetie: I know you read this, so there’s still time for that admission...). With that as a background I was turned off by a book with the title “ How to Kill a Dragon”, but then I thought “heck, it’s by J.A. Culican (a total fave aithor) so you should trust her”. I’m glad I did as this first book in her new Heir of Dragons series is awesomely superb!! (I wanted to add more exclamation marks there but it probably would show my emotional immaturity so I’m holding of.) (!) Wonderfully, superbly, written, with a plot line that exciting and thrilling and, yes, a bit romantic, with evil and nobility, magic and adventure, a superbly crafted story world and great characters from Mind and Kaleb on down. Truly a fantastic start to what I can already tell will be an addictive story arc (though this story stands well alone). Easy to highly recommend.

4.5⭐

This is a YA Epic Fantasy novel that is the beginning to what I believe will be an awesome series! It has a whole bunch of different creatures, some we know well, like Fae and Dragons, but others that I've never heard of such as Wuffs, Plurns, and Krahs. The world building had me imagining the trees from Avatar with the creatures a mixture of something out of WOW and LOTR.

This story takes so many twists and turns and had me rushing to read more because I NEEDED to know what was going to happen. The storyline was set beautifully to bring us to an ending that invites more books to be added to this already epic adventure.

This books sees a great war looming with allies being made of some unlikely enemies, some that have even sworn to hate each other forever!

There is action, adventure, fantasy, and a little bit of romance. Something for everyone. This is a must-read for those who enjoy high fantasy YA novels and are looking for something new!

Thank you to BOMM TOURS and the author for an advanced review copy in exchange for an honest review.

Full review on my blog, Storied Adventures!

While the writing of this world was not my cup of tea, I know many will enjoy it, as there is a lot to discover. The author is also a middle grade author and that's the feel of this book. Nothing bad about that of course, just if you were expecting a more epic fantasy world, this isn’t it. And the big bad didn’t make me feel like it was intense. However, the plot is fascinating! I would definitely keep reading!

Minx and Kaleb have a very sweet relationship. They become good friends very quickly with the promise of more.

I also enjoyed the creatures in this world. There are a lot of different kinds that I can't wait to see more of!

The Fae and Dragon dwellings sound so beautiful! I would definitely visit there! And I am really interested in Alla, she is very mysterious.

I thought I would love this book, and I wasn’t disappointed.
Fast paced and exciting, this book keeps you turning page after pages with never a dull moment. I read the entirety of this book in just 3 days time- no joke!
And how can you ever go wrong with dragons? I mean HELLO!
A bit of an enemies to friends to lovers trope going on with an ultimate slow burn was a great way to initiate this fantasy romance series.

My favorite part though? Telepathy with Mau. This was such a reminiscent element that reminded me of one of my all time favorite books- The Shadow Queen!

Overall Rating:

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟/5 Stars

I could definitely see myself continuing this series!

How to Kill a Dragon.
{ Heir of Dragons Book 1 }

Minx a royal fae is given the task of retrieving a dragons hide to protect her people and their lands. She runs into more than a little trouble when the dragon she’s hunting isn’t an easy target for her arrows and shifts into a man with no interest in handing himself over. Minx and the charming dragon shifter decide to team up together to put both their clans prejudices behind them and work to fight a new upcoming threat.

How to Kill a Dragon by J.A. Culican is a fun action packed adventure full of magic, dragons, fae, and everyones favorite enemies to lovers.

I really enjoyed reading this book. It was hard to put down and full of surprises. The story was well developed by the author. I enjoyed seeing the story grow and become more complex as you read it.

The characters did start out feeling one dimensional and boring. I found Minx a bit annoying. However, as the story went on, there was clear evidence of character development.

Overall, this book was a great read. I enjoyed watching this story grow and become more complex with each chapter. Character development was near perfect. I loved the fantasy and world-building done in this book.

Thank you J. A. Culican and BOMM Tours for this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

This is an outstanding start to this series! First of all the world building is incredible. Second the characters are fantastic and entertaining, both dragon and fae and thirdly the storyline is exciting and full of action, magic, forbidden romance and adventure. An epic fantasy that has me hook, line and sinker and anxiously awaiting the next book!

This was such a fun story!

It’s a clean YA epic fantasy that focuses on friendships in unlikely places. It is suitable for all ages.

I had a lot of fun reading about Kaleb and Minx. There was so much action, epic world building, and loved The hint of a romance. I’m hoping that gets realized in later books. :)

**3.5
I read this book as part of an arc tour and enjoyed it! It’s a fast paced, high fantasy read.
I love the world building and side characters.
It has enemies to friends, chosen one and a great battle scene. This first book is definitely just setting the reader up for more in the next one. Still some mystery left unresolved that leaves the reader wanting more.
The author is very competent at writing battle and fight scenes. I was extremely impressed with the attention to detail in this regard.
I did feel like the characters needed to be fleshed out a bit more, just needed a bit more depth. But it’s fast paced and feels more plot driven to me which can be hard to achieve I think.
Overall a fun story that will keep the page turning. I rated it four stars because I know many people will enjoy it but because of the lack of character depth and growth I have to give it more a 3.5 and that’s just personal feelings.

Great story

I really love reading about dragons. The fact that they are shifters only doubles my enjoyment. Then add fae into the mix and I’m sold. I loved the story and look forward to seeing and reading more.

Minx was absolutely awesome! I loved that this book jumped right into the action. The dynamics within this book were interesting to read about and kept me engaged for the entirety of the book! I did find some of the dialogue a bit clunky, but overall it was good!

DNF

I couldn't get into the story. Nothing about it was interesting, or exciting. The characters were very one dimensional and the plot line was barely existent.

DNF. This book is rough - it actually reads like a rough draft, alongside characterization that makes little to no sense especially in the beginning stages of the first book of a series.
