For my whole life, it was just my mom and me. We got by fine. When she passed, I discovered the identity of my father in a journal she’d hidden away. By the time I reached him, though, he’d already left this world. His whole life savings had been taken in a crooked real estate scheme. My uncle gave me purpose: take down War Holmes and avenge my father.
Despite what my fake resume says, I’m a waitress with no college education but I’ll stop at nothing to bring that man to his knees. It doesn’t matter how sweet his kisses are or how tenderly he holds me, I’m going to win this war.

Bad Girl was a nice short romance that I enjoyed every pages of it. Straight to the point that leaves me wanting more of Warren and Leila. It would have been really great if the story was expanded and explored. Overall, it was a good read and I recommend this to anyone that wants a short love story.

Bad girl de Ella Goode
Argumento:
Leila's Mom died and after going through her mom's things, she learns about her father. But when she seeks him out, she learns that he committed suicide after being outbid on a property. She decides to get revenge against the investor that outbid him, Warren Holmes. With the help of her uncle, she gets a job in Warren's company and does some corporate espionage, slashes his tires, you get the gist. Despite the outward appearance of being a major workaholic and an insensitive prick, Warren actually seems like a nice guy and is really truly concerned for her...he's someone she could actually fall for. It's getting harder to remember that she's supposed to hate Warren and that she's actively seeking to destroy his career. And what happens to her when he discovers what she's up to?
This just was not my cup of tea. If you're a fan of heroes who talk seriously of locking a woman up in the basement and only ever letting her out when she's with him and only then with a paperbag over her head so no one can see her beauty, then this might be for you. Warren had moments of being sweet, and caring and devoted. But these are contrasted with the moments where he's controlling and contemplating how he has to tie her to him forever. Not to mention the spanking and submission stuff (which again, not my cup of tea really)...nor did I care for the fact that he never really got her consent for that...just started doing it and she liked it, so all good I guess. Then there's Leila. Not so bright girl never questions her uncle's motivations and doesn't realize he's using her. Also couldn't quite figure out why she'd blame Warren for her father's death when he really didn't directly cause it...he probably didn't even know who he was bidding against or that her father was in over his head. Meh. At least it was a quick read.

A quick read that has all the requirements you’d expect. Alpha male Warren is focused on his job always chasing the next deal. But when she walks in all thought of work is gone.
She doesn’t know it but she’s about to become his everything.
Leila wants revenge for her fathers death even though she never got to meet him. When she seeks that revenge, she never knew she'd meet Warren and everything may not be as it seemed.
-Safe read -No mention of either past -No om/ow drama -Epilogue around 20 years.
Quick, somewhat entertaining read. Some parts didn't make sense, more like continuity issues, but it was hot at times. Pretty eye-roll worthy and definite insta-luv on the hero's part.
It didn't bore me, hence the 2.5 stars but it wasn't the best.
Leila (h) is an incredibly stupid girl. She steals confidential information and doesn't think she's doing anything wrong. She slashes the H's tires because he was the cause of her bad day (which wasn't really that bad). And she never questions what her uncle is making her do even if he's already pushing her to sleep with the H. Other examples cross my mind but I don't have the energy to type them anymore.
It also didn't help that she has this incredible memory (maybe hyperthymesia?) that she has always downplayed because she just wants to be normal. She didn't even use that ability to do well in school. But she's glad she has that memory because she can use it to hack the computers of her colleagues. SMH.
Maybe I can't relate to her situation and that's why she annoyed me so much. I don't know. But she made me want her to get jailed or something. It felt like she got away with doing so many wrong things just because Warren found her irresistable.
Unfortunately, there wasn't anything I liked about the book. Even Warren. Then again, I'm a picky reader. So, this was a bust. Thank you, KU. At least I didn't waste money on something that just irritated the heck out of me. Sigh.
Really fast pace, dark humour, and an insta-attraction that makes the hero go nuts.
The heroine is on a clandestine mission for revenge, so the scenario is both exciting and hilarious because he's over-the-top jealous and possessive but in denial. In the meantime, she's secretly working against him for the wrong reasons.
The whole relationship is a little crazy and a lot of fun. I loved it. Warren never relents in claiming her, he dotes on her yet also spanks her which she actually enjoys immensely. This bad girl is in big trouble and very lonely. When the truth behind his entrepreneurial pursuits is revealed, there's a hot reckoning.
I enjoyed everything from her bratty yet vulnerable attitude to the plot to the male character's obsession. So much fun.
I’m a huge Ella Goode fan and it seemed on par with her work in some ways, but in others it just was a bit...lacking. As others have said, her reasons for revenge are just not solid. She’s meant to be smart, but she makes some really stupid choices.
And I’m sorry, but a man who’s willing to fire a woman on sight just because she makes him hot is not the kind of guy I want to call a romance hero.
There are some cute moments. Truthfully though, I read it about 10 days before writing this...I’ve been super freaking busy...and I just can’t remember much on my own. I had to read the synopsis and a few reviews to remind myself of everything I wanted to say. Which frankly, says enough in itself. It’s not a particularly memorable story.
If you’re looking for a short, enjoyable, unrealistic read then feel free to pick this one up. I wouldn’t call it an example of Ella at her best, but I also wouldn’t call it Ella at her worst. It’s worth reading if you’re a big fan of hers or if you want a short steamy story to read to fill an hour or so. But if you have other options you’re considering and this premise doesn’t grab you, I think you could give this one a miss.
I thought that this was an awesome seeking revenge, comedy! Leila and Warren were perfect together. Leila just lot her mother and unbeknownst to her, her father as well. Now that she is alone in this world, she is out to get her revenge on the man that took the chance from ever knowing her father away from her. Warren is instantly head over heals for Leila as soon as he gets a glimpse of her, but he manages to say that wrong things and they get off the a rocky start. There are some heartbreaking scenes in this book but also some comedy steam, love, suspense, intense, intrigue and an awesome HEA. I really enjoyed this book and I would recommend it and MS. Elle as must read author!
I received a free e-book copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Leila is anything but a bad girl, just a simple waitress who after her mom dies of cancer and she found out about her dad who passed away that she never met she was lead by the evil uncle to bring down Warren the H of the story. She is undercover has a temp to get information about his company and dealings to bring the info back to her uncle. The first time Warren sees Leila he immediately fires her because she is too tempting! Since he can't fire her, he tries all the ways to get close to her. She was pissed at him and slashed his tires, go girl! H is very forgiving when he found out, love Alpha H and virgin h.
Hidden truths and lies lead Leila to compromise herself with her uncle. She's led to believe her personal loss was left to the hands of Warren. Now she's be about to do battle to avenge her family. What she doesn't see is the true enemy. Warren is not the man she was led to believe but instead the man that's willing to protect her and give her the HEA she deserves.
I don’t know. This story felt cold to me. Warren is not really likeable. Leila is lead down the wrong path by someone who is using her grief against her. I still give it 4 stars, as the writing is good. I just couldn’t connect with Warren.
This one started off pretty promising—with some genuinely funny, ridiculous lines on Warren's part—but a weak premise from the get-go fizzled out really fast in the last 2/3 of the story. YES, it's erotica, but it's nice to have some semblance of a nearly-believable plot line.
Leila's motivation makes zero sense in context of who she is—she's always been self-sufficient and worked hard and pretty much solo, but she needs an absent-from-her-life father to take care of her and she takes everything Creepy Uncle she's never met as gospel truth? WHAT—and her character was all over the place through out this story. The Jealousy Incident was so out of character for someone who can't even kill bugs in her home.
Warren? Well, he's fairly generic OTT Dude for these stories, but he did provide some good laughs in the beginning.
I’m no longer Warren Holmes, real estate magnate. I’m the rubble that’s left over after a building has been demolished.
Melodramatic much, my dude?
There's a roughly decade age gap in this one with some spankings and a bit of domination play, but it was lacking some of the talking game and hotness that Goode has in her other works. This wasn't one of her better ones. (Writing this review immediately after reading, I couldn't even remember Leila's name and had to relook it up so...oof.)
Real Rating:2.5 stars
TW/CW: mentioned deaths of mother and father, cancer, suicide, murder
I swear Ella Goode always brings the hotness to any book she writes. I cannot get enough of her books. This book was no exception! We have Leila who is a bad girl who is looking to get revenge on the company who ruin her dads life. The company is owned by CEO Warren. Leila gets close by Warren by working for his company as an assistant. She plays her part, getting important information to use against Warren to bring him and his company down. It is amazing what a bad girl can get away with when you are beautiful, smart and sexy!
Warren in this book is the hot boss! He is demanding, cocky and intense for a male. For some unknown reason he is attracted to Leila when he first sees her. He is so uncontrollable, it's like Warren is having trouble containing his inner beast if this book was a wolf shifter love story. He was doing everything in his power to fight his attraction to Leila, even going so far to0 trying to fire her!
Warren and Leila had a hate to love dialogue. When the chemistry got so explosive.....it was over for them both! The spell was woven. Loved Warren and Leila tic and tac response. It is definitely worth the 5-star rating!
She’s done it again. This is a fast paced short sweet insta attractions hate to love romance. I couldn’t put it down once. What starts off as revenge becomes much more. When Leila is told her father died due to a business deal she goes after the man that causes his death. The moment they both lay eyes on each other the attraction sizzles off the pages and I felt it. It’s a continuous push and pull of feelings for feelings but the more time they spend together the more Warren wants her. Even after revelations are made Warren keeps fighting the love that is felt and proves to Leila she is worth everything. I swooned, laughed, I loved how she was sassy, I fanned myself a lot and was left feeling content. I look forward to more books by Ella Goode.
No strong representation of diverse characters or minority identities.
Overall: 2-stars
The Hero totally irked me in Bad Girl; he came across as a privileged (ignorant) asshole, so I didn't really mind the Heroine's corporate espionage. I'll admit that the Heroine was frightfully naive about her uncle's intentions; she didn't do any investigating of her own to ensure her uncle was telling the truth.
This is an OK story, but I had a few issues with it. It gets 2.5 stars from me, rounded up to 3 stars.
I thought the couple was more in lust than in love. I never got a sense of love from either of them, just lots of lust.
I couldn't understand why Leila would be attracted to Warren, when she thought his actions caused her father's suicide. And I certainly never felt that she had anything but lust for him, not love. I also thought she was really stupid. She believed the lies her uncle told her (even though she just met him, and didn't know anything about him), and never bothered to check if they were true? Anybody with a brain would have known better than to do that.
I also didn't believe that Warren would forgive Leila so easily for all she did to hurt him. I get that he lusted after her, but few men would be willing to forgive her actions -- especially not enough to fall in love with her. I actually never felt that he truly loved her, but thought he was just really in lust.
Also, the story is just too short to have as much character development as I like. We got some backstory on Warren and Leila, but I really needed more on both of them.
My rating system is below. 1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it. 2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws. 3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating. 4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one. 5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.
Plot: Leila has found a job at Warren's firm - but on purpose. He was the man that ruined her father, the father she was never able to meet since he committed suicide after a bad deal with Warren. She's at his firm to act as a spy for her uncle, in order to gain revenge. She spies on him and passes some information to her uncle, but in the process of trying to seek revenge, she falls for Warren. He falls for her as well, but can he forgive her for what she's done?
Commentary: This was not my favorite Ella Goode, but it was okay. Leila was not quite naive - more like dumb. Sorry, it's true. She was grieving, sure, but she didn't even know her father (and if that sounds callous, I understand that she was probably grieving the idea of having a father more than anything). She took her slimy uncle's word for everything and set out to hurt someone without checking if her info was true or not. Warren was so understanding - it was sweet. I think that Leila was probably only a bad girl for this one specific incident, and the rest of the time, she was just a little bratty. I guess they all get what they want in the end though!
Grammar/formatting: There were some sections that were very choppy - short paragraphs alternating between ideas/speakers, giving the story the feeling that things were jumping around.
Who doesn’t love a bad girl that has cuddly alpha hot on her heels all the time! Leila is in a stage of grief and anger after discovering what happened to her father, and you cannot blame her for going into the situation she did and trusting her uncle when she really thought she was doing what was right.
What started off as a sticky situation quickly soon became a safe place for Leila, and I couldn’t be more happy for her character. Warren was amazing and just the safe person she needed to fall into place with. I would say she got very lucky, and it was hilarious when she slipped into the bad girl role. Specifically in a parking garage. 😂 I loved this couple and the dynamic they had, but it was the fact that Warren never waivers in his love for Leila that really made this book so enjoyable and so worth it.
Not really 100% sure how I feel about this book. Usually if you're going to give me a female with an eidetic memory (she remembers everything) I assume she's going to be really smart. However, Leila was just flat out dumb. I'm sorry, but if my mother kept a man out of my life, I have to assume that there is a reason for that. Yet she was ready to go and steal corporate secrets and heck had her uncle convinced she might commit murder all for a man she didn't even know. I didn't really care too much either for the light bondage and spanking that goes on in this book. Just didn't really seem to mesh and flow very well for me. Probably because it's not something I'm used to seeing from this author.
This was a fast yet emotional read. Leila is so alone after her mom dies. When she finds out the father she never met also just died from her uncle, she takes everything he said as gospel. Why not help him take down the man who caused her father to commit suicide, that sounds like a great idea, right? Warren is all about work, he has no time for anything else. So when a temp girl in his office grabs his attention, he tries to fire her. He is in so far over his head, it was a ton of fun watching him flounder about. It is quickly obvious that Leila is on emotional overload but there doesn't seem to be a way out of the situation. I loved how it all worked out, it was so very sweet!
3.5 stars. I feel like this was missing some middle bits. The beginning was good, the ending was good, but the middle felt like we jumped ahead several pages, or even chapters.
Love Ella’s style of romance, with her uniquely awkward/innocent/filthy/obsessively possessive mix of alpha male leads. And the sassy little heroines who wrap those alphas around their fingers by just existing around them. This book had all of that...but it felt unfinished, a little rushed.
I don’t know. I still enjoyed getting more words from Ella. It just wasn’t my favorite book of her’s.
Leila is looking to get revenge against the man she was told killed her father. Warren is a real estate mogul and is married to his job, but the instant he lays eyes on Leila he knows he's in trouble. He tries to get rid of her, but that doesn't work so he decides to embrace his feelings and go after her. Too bad Leila is planning on ruining him as payback for her father's death. This is a great read and I highly recommend it!
Very fluffy quick read. While entertaining enough to keep you turning the page to the end since it was a very short book, not much in the way of depth. Whether it was the world around the characters or the characters themselves, it still was a very one dimensional story. While I read this via Kindle Unlimited, and it didn't take but an hour to read, I would still class this as well worth your time and $$
