Great read! Haven’t really enjoyed this author in awhile, but this was one of the best books I have read by her.

Michael is strong and sexy. He will stop at nothing to protect what he loves. Daniella was strong and really told Michael how it was. Their first encounter is ranging on non consensual but not too bad. They are pretty hot together. Loved the dog and kids.

The mafia part was interesting and the story line sucked you in to find out want was going to happen.

Received a copy through BookSprout for an honest review.

This started out as really lovely, sweet school teacher, scary mafia man. But it turned really quickly, I would go as far as rape - a word that I use very carefully. VERY disappointing, at only 10% in I’m tossing up how far to continue. Author seems like they have a good grasp of plotting and descriptive words, but not great w the mafia genre. I’ll press on for now and see where it goes.

Ok I pressed on for a bit more, but honestly this author has NO idea how to create a proper mafia villain. Ended up stopping at around 20% cos the writing style just made me CRINGE 😑😱.

The one star is for me, bothering to keep going. Ugly cover also 👎🏼, goodbye.

Totally Wonderful Mafia book

This book is a wonderful Mafia story that I totally loved. It has a single father who kidnaps his children's teacher and after he takes the h prisoner he falls in love with her, the H also spanks the h a few times as well. There is a lot of action and danger, but eventually everyone is pretty much out of danger and there is a HEA.

This is the second book in the series and it can be read as a standalone. Michael is a widower raising to young kids but also a powerful mafia man. Daniella is a kind and caring schoolteacher who ends up kidnapped by Michael for her protection. This an intense read with loads of drama, suspense and sizzling chemistry. The story is fast-paced with lots of drama and action. I was hooked from beginning to end. I loved it.

Waste of time

Lame attempt to make the violence and rape come off as sexy and no evidence anyone proofread the book. Look elsewhere there many good mafia stories out there.

An excellent addiction to the “Merciless Kings” series & I really enjoyed reading this intriguing, dark mafia romance. The plot is interesting with extremely intense situations & events, good scene descriptions & world building. The characters are individually very unique people but there is a fair amount of distrust between them until the attractions really begin to flare & in particular, I was impressed with the continuing development of the two main characters (Michael) & (Daniella) throughout the storyline. There is good support from the secondary characters.
It is about: a widower & brutal mafia boss (Michelangelo King aka Michael) of the “Kings Cartel Empire” attending a after school meeting, manages to stop the kidnapping of his children’s (Isabella & Alessandro) sweet yet feisty school teacher (Daniella Zimmerman) but makes a decision to take her for himself.
There is: Daniella’s estranged elder brother (Steven), various mafia syndicates, drug cartels, rivalry, sibling comradery, action, abduction, danger, threats, enemies, attacks, violence, brutality, twists & turns, intrigue, suspense, drama, deceit, betrayal, strange attractions, suspicions, trust issues, devious plans, manipulations, defiance, discipline, spanking, domination/submission, non-consensual & consensual scenes, verbal conflict, accusations, heartache, vengeful feelings, contentment, love, steamy scenes & a well-deserved happy ending.

King's Hostage is the second installment in the Merciless Kings series. The King's are the most powerful and feared mafia family in New Orleans. They run the city with brutality, ruthlessness, fear and with an iron fist. Michaelangelo King a.k.a Michael is the second oldest brother of five. He runs a branch of the King Empire in Key West along with the Cabana Club. He's a widower with two twins Isabella and Alessandro. They're are his life, they're all that matters to him, he will if murder anyone who threatens their safety, and die to protect them. Michael's wife was murdered two years ago and the killer have never been found. It left him a black a black hole in his heart, coldhearted, dark, monstrous, and dangerous. Michael is handsome, chiseled, an alpha male who command attention when he steps into a room. On his way back from the Keys he received a message from the children's teacher Daniella Zimmerman about a parent teacher meeting. When Michael saw Danielle she wasn't what he expected needless to she was a pleasant surprise. She exquisite, unassuming in her beauty. She awaken Michael sexually something that had not occurred since his wife died. His thoughts was and visions filthy of the things he wanted to do to her. While they were discussing the children a mask assailant breaks into the classroom in an attempt to kidnap Daniella, there was scuffle she rips off his mask knocking over the head and got away. Michael abducted her to protect because she saw the assailant face. He also thought that she set him up and the attempt was on his life for the extermination that he just did in Key West on Santiago Cartel.
Their connection was explosives, maddening and electrifying from the moment they layed eyes each other.
Michael took Daniella a.k.a. "My little Flower" to his house he would find out what she knew and if she refuse he would be forced teach her lesson that she would never forget. No one dares to enter the world of the King Empire without consequences including the stunning woman who'd been in my arms. Her life was about to change. She now belonged to me my possession, my captive, my (Ostaggio) hostage. Michael found out that there's a connection between Daniella and Emmanuel Santiago the ruthless cartel boss Daniella brother Steven works for him as one of his soldier. However, Steven stole over two hundred thousand dollars from the cartel and they want Daniella as restitution. Michael took Daniella and the twins to his chalet in Switzerland so that they could flush out the ghost who is hunting Daniella and trying to settle the score with him after he received a threatening picture message with his children at the playground.

Michael is heartless, sadistic, callous☑ Calculating, possessive, soulless, captor☑
She was mine, mine to own☑
Mine to taste, mine to train☑
Mine to command, mine to f**k☑
Mine to mold, mine to protect☑
Mine to do with as I please☑
Mine keep locked away☑

Daniella
Betrayed by her brother, discarded by her employer☑
She is resilient, rebellious, feisty☑
Strong, defiant, a fighter☑
He was my protector, my captor☑
He was my curse, a fallen dark angel ☑
He ripped me from the quiet solitude of unhappiness and loneliness of my life☑

King's Hostage was beautifully crafted and highly addictive. The characters chemistry were intense. The author draws the reader in with her vivid depictions and I could not put my kindle down. Michael is my new book boyfriend with his savagery and take what he wants I love it. Daniella wasn't a push over she broken through almost all his walls, stripping away the battered metal. He takes her to darkness inside herself that she didn't know she possess. She brings out the sadistic, animalistic and darkness within him. Their sex was filthy, aphrodisiac, sizzling and carnal. King Hostage was took us on a rollercoaster ride with twists and turns with nonstop action, drama, conflicts, heightened danger, rivalry, carnage, mayhem, abduction, betrayal, secrets, torture, deception, violence, vengeance, revelations, retaliation, hard spanking, domination, submission, drug cartels, various mafia syndicates, healing, annihilation, evil, punishments, mind games, hate, enemies, romance, brotherhood, trust issues, kinks, control, sins, disloyalties, greed, love, blackmail, threats, suspicions, territory war, forced and consensual sex, depravity, rough sex, and redemption. Daniella thought that she was taken by a monster when Michael abducted to protect. She soon realized that they were far worse monster and evil in the when she was kidnapped from Michael house by ghost. As Michael rushed to save Daniella he realized that she was the love of his life and was going murder the person who took her. You get to see all the King brothers come together to this mess to bed and help Michael get the love of his life back. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book this author definitely knows how to a story about mafias with all the spice dripping. I am glad that Michael was able to let go of the loss and find love again in Daniella.

4,5 stars. So this was a pleasant surprise. I have recently discovered Piper Stone and have read a few of her books, categorized her in the smut section. The Stormy nights type books where women are conquered and spanked and left needing and wanting...you get the drift.
No judgement because sometimes that's just what you are in the mood for.
I did not expect this book to capture me the way it did. So we have a high ranking mob H who kidnaps his kids' teacher and keeps her hostage, he is also attracted to her and since he has a dominant kinky streak, he spanks her. Pretty standard textbook Stormy Nights. But what I did not expect was the great comebacks and clap backs the h had for the H, how she constantly provided him with a mirror.

With all of the five star reviews, I’m surprised I only found this book to be okay. I liked this book but I have read better mafia books. The romance was intense and it was fine. I can’t say the same about the plot because I had no idea what was going on. There were several names and I couldn’t keep up. Maybe I will try another book by this author but maybe another series.

Michael and Daniella’s story is an interesting twist on the mafia kidnapping trope. He actually initially takes her in order to protect her - he’s meeting with her at school about his children, and they are attacked, she exposes the face of her attacker before they escape, which instantly puts her at risk as a “loose end”. Since Michael needs leave to protect his children, he decides that taking their teacher with will work well, also, so she can tutor them. But Daniella has some interesting family ties that muddy the waters, and Michael becomes suspicious of her before realizing she’s an innocent in the whole mess, and he completely falls for her. I find it a bit interesting that Daniella only perceives their situation as a kidnapping, despite the fact that he is actually protecting her from another attack. At first she is belligerent, and she fights the chemistry she feels between them, but of course it’s only a matter of time before they both succumb. Steamy and emotional, it’s a great second installment of the Merciless Kings series.

Audiobook review: The narration is very well done. Thomas Locklear is excellent with the broody, growly, alpha males, and surprisingly good with the female characters as well. I will always prefer a dual narration whenever possible, but I have to say, not all male narrators are able to pull of the female voice well, and he does.

King’s Hostage is the story about Michael one of the heads of the King’s family Mafia of New Orleans. Michael is the merciless brutal savage (normally) take no hostages attitude violent leader of the branch of the family business in Miami. Michaels wife was murdered years ago and without him being able to track down and get his retribution it has left him a very vengeful, angry, violent man. But he was left with 2 young children to raise and protect within a very dangerous family life. Daniella is the children’s schoolteacher who finds herself caught up in an extremely dangerous situation while conducting a conference with Michael an attempt on her and Michaels lives occurs during the conference. She ends up in Michaels custody and totally at his mercy as each of them try to figure out who can be trusted and who is an enemy. Nonstop action with the dealings of cartels, abductions, danger, threats, attacks, violence, brutality, suspense, deceit, betrayal, suspicions, trust issues, defiance, discipline, spankings, conflict, accusations, steamy steamy scenes. As Michael and Daniella go forward will they be able to jump over all the road blocks? Can Michael shake off his past and realize its ok to love again? An absolute page turner. You are not going to want to put this down until you get to the end. One of my favorite authors. I’m looking forward to another story in this series. Be aware it is a dark read but its one you can’t help but love the characters even if some are bad. I received an Advance Reader's Copy and am voluntarily leaving my honest thoughts and opinions.

He will do anything to save his family
Michael had suddenly lost his wife who was gunned down leaving behind two beautiful children. A boy and a girl set of twins they were now Michael‘s life. The world he lived in was harsh and you couldn’t show any weaknesses. When he was called into his children’s school to talk to the teacher he could never of guessed there would of been an assassination attempt. The gunmen had grabbed the teacher to get Michael to lay down his weapon but that wasn’t to be, thankfully Daniella the teacher had thought fast and did a self defence move that gave Michael the opportunity to get some shots off. But the gunman managed to knock Daniella out before he ran off. Michael picked her up and took it to the car he had to decide whether she had drawn him to the school for the attempt Or was she in innocent bystander? The only problem was that Daniella had seen the gunman’s face And he would be after her.
Then the family decided that Michael and the children are in danger! The family agree he must go away for a while and keep the children safe he decides he’s taking the teacher with him so the children can learn while they are away.
Is that the only reason??
Well this book is steamy hot I like the chemistry between them and the fact that she doesn’t pander down to him even if this will cause her pain. There is just so much going on this book that it feels like your head is spinning but the storyline keeps dragging you in. One amazing read!

Just shy of terrible

This book was just everywhere. The characters were all over the place and it likable at all. The “hero” basically raped the heroine in the first few minutes of the book. I skimmed most of it as it only got worse from there. The story, if you could even call it that, was all over the place and confusing. Probably one of the worst books I ever attempted to read and I’m marking the author as do not read from now on. Skip it.

This is just a repeat of the previous book, even down to the rape, rape again then finish with anal

Also, who gets married without their kids present, dw though the dog was invited.
And hilarious - he gave his wives the exact same wedding gift, like not even copies of the same item, it’s legit just the same violin

DNF @35%.

Mmc kidnaps and rapes fmc who is also his kids teacher. Why? Because during a parent teacher meeting, SHE was held at gunpoint and he thinks she *might* have information on who it was. That was within the first few chapters, and it just kept getting worse.

The second insallment in The Merciless Kings series and another enthralling story.
I listened to the Audiobook of this book and I am glad I did.
Thomas Lockclear is his own One man show because he performs all the characters within this book, male, female and all the accents that are required for different personas.
He is one of THE BEST Voices in the audiobook world, and never fails to astound me by his exceptional talent.
He is just Brilliant and every single time I listen to Thomas do his thing ,it leaves me in complete awe.
I loved the additional sound effects in the story too gunshots, dogs barking etc it just made the tale so much more real and animated.
This is Michael and Daniella's very rocky romance.
They do not begin on a good note.
Michael Angelo King is a dangerous man with many enemies but one thing he loves more than anything in his dark world are his children...They are his light and he would do anything to protect them unfortunatey he couldn't protect his wife. Now a widower finding somone else to love was not a possibility his heart was now cold.
Daniella a school teacher who loves her job but is about to be let go requests a meeting with Michael to discuss his children's behaviour at school, especially his son who is acting out and fighting in school.
She didn't expect Michael to be so handsome and foreboding and Michael didn't expect for his children's school teacher to be so intriguing and beautiful.
While in the meeting an assailant invades the classroom holding Danilla at gunpoint..what is unknown is that is the attack an attempted assassination on Michael or has Daniella got secrets and he is there to take her prisoner.
After being injured in the foray Daniella is taken hostage by Michael for her safety and for questioning, because Michael does not trust Daniella and he was now going to teach her a lesson she will never forget...a lesson in passion and discipline.
But falling in Love with his Hostage was never in his plan.
Like with all of Piper Stones books there are twists in the story that you never saw coming.
I would say this is insta love and attraction and when reading/listening you have to remember this is a fictional story !!..It is fantasy that probably wouldn't happen in real life and for those easily offended by Michaels behaviour towards Daniella should probably not read this dark romance book.
I found the Mafia plot very interesting too going alongside the unconventional love story.
I for one enjoy Piper Stones stories especially her audiobooks and King's Hostage was no exception.
I was continuously entertained and engaged with this story.
Brilliant listen.
Loved it.

King’s Hostage Book 2 in the Merciless King’s Series.

This one is about Michaelango and Daniella.

Michael is at his twins school to speak with their teacher Daniella when an assailant comes in and attacks her but Michael is there to stop her abduction. But was it meant for Michael? Or was the teacher the victim?

I really enjoyed this book, it’s what I come to expect from Piper Stone in her Mafia books. There’s so much happening that you really go on a thrilling trip as you follow along with the characters.

Michael is a single dad and an important person in his mafia family. He seems jaded by his past but as we follow through the story we get to see he really is a caring and compassionate man for those he loves and he will stop at nothing to protect. There’s many layers to all the characters which makes for a fabulous time.

Daniella is unknowingly a pawn in a situation that pulls her into Michael’s life and the mafia fight that is happening. Her estranged brother, Stephen is responsible for getting her into this mess. She’s a feisty protective woman who gives Michael attitude yet is so protective of his children. I loved her with the kids and the dog.

Piper writes amazing characters in situations that span the globe, in this book we get to go to the Swiss Alps, back to New Orleans and then also to Miami.

Thomas again portrays all of the characters with realistic emotions and distinct voices making this book an awesome way to spend time.

“King’s Hostage” is a tumultuous story that really did grab my attention and hold onto it. Michael is a merciless mafia widower responsible for raising his 2 young children while upholding his obligations to the Family. Daniella is an innocent, kind-hearted schoolteacher who finds herself caught in situation she never caused or expected. She ends up in the custody of Michael and totally at his mercy as each of them try to figure out who can be trusted and who is an enemy.

There is non-stop action in the story. Be aware that their initial sexual encounter is not really consensual even though she is attracted to him. The high-stakes, high-pressure situation that they are in leads to a quickly developing relationship between Michael and Daniella. As the story goes on, each of them finds aspects of their own personality that they didn’t even realize existed. There are some D/s elements to the story, and it fits with their personalities.

The secondary characters are great, especially his children and the family dog. The HEA is hard won, although in some ways it comes about almost too quickly when it does escalate. Overall, I enjoyed the story and I’m looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

Another great book by Piper Stone. I love the way Piper is able to draw you into the story as if you were actually there. I was hooked from the first chapter of the book. This is the story of Michael and Daniella. Michael is dark, dangerous, ruthless and a bad-boy. His wife was murdered 2 years before and he has decided that love is not for him and it makes you weak. Daniella is a feisty, strong, independent woman who just so happens to be Michael’s twin’s teacher.

Michael just happens to be in the right place at the wrong time when someone happens to try and kidnap Daniella. Of course, Michael thinks it is about him and believes that Daniella is involved in someone trying to kill him. Because of this, Michael then kidnaps Daniella himself and forces her to go to Switzerland with him and his family to help keep her safe. Michael definitely finds himself attracted to Daniella and even though Daniella is his hostage, she can’t help but feel the same way.

This story has it all – drama, passion, kink, tragedy, lies, deception, loyalty, violence, a great storyline and great characters. I really hope this is not the ned of this series and that there will be a few more books about the other brothers. I cannot wait to read more from this author. As with the previous book in this series, Ms.Piper is well versed with the mafia
lifestyle. Her ability to draw you in from the beginning is compelling.

The path to true love is often twisted and tragic, and no one had suffered more
than Michael King. His unresolved grief made Daniella his target for revenge.
She would belong to him. Be his possession. His captive. His hostage. He would
devour her. Right from the start, Michael was determined to think the worst of
Daniella despite her cries of denial. How had he gotten it so wrong?

Daniella was no fragile flower. She was feisty at times. She could not resist his
harsh treatment of her body. Little by little, she fell in love with Michael despite
his many complicated layers.

Michael was one brutal, sadistic son of a B!!! Grief made him one dangerous man, but over time, Daniella soothed his soul, and in small ways, restored his faith in humanity. For such a brutal man, he certainly loved his children and his dog.

This book was action-packed with never a dull moment. Its full of danger, angst, mystery, death, and mayhem. The chemistry between Michael and Daniella was explosive. I now look forward to the next book in this series.

Who is the hostage in the end?

King's Hostage is the second book in the Merciless Kings series and this second book keeps up the intensity and heat of the first book, King's Captive. This story is about Michael King and Daniella Zimmerman. Daniella ends up as Michael's "captive" after he stops the attempted abduction of Daniella as they were meeting, as she is his kids the schoolteacher who he was meeting with after school. He decides the only way to keep her safe is to take her with him as she has seen the man's face who tried to take her. She is not too happy about this at all as Michale just snatched her and then took her and his two kids out of the country to keep them safe and protected. But Michael has his own way of dealing with the feisty young woman he was instantly attracted to when he saw her.

This book is well written and has a great story-line and characters. I liked that Daniella was so feisty and did not just give in to Michael in all ways. He is an Alpha who is has had a part of himself awoken again by Daniella, as it had been dormant for the last seven years since his wife was killed. These two have a great dynamic and is multi-faceted and end up with a sweet and saucy HEA.

'King's Hostage' is Piper Stone's third book in her "Merciless Kings" series and I have to say, Michelangelo, aka Michael, is a contradiction unto himself. An intricate part of the King family, his wife and mother of his two children was murdered more than two years ago. The perpetrator had yet to be caught and punished leaving him filled with a mixture of emotions, the top being rage. The only light in his life were his two small children. That's why he promptly accepted the meeting called by his teacher to discuss his son and daughter. Before words were barely exchanged, a hooded assassin entered the room and accosted the teacher, Daniella. A struggle ensued where she pulled off the covering of his face causing the man to flee. The next day Michael receives pictures on his phone of his children at a park. The unspoken threat meeting it's mark. Now he must hide himself, his children, and the teacher he wound up kidnapping from the school in order to keep safe. The plot runs through the story seamlessly, the situations are intense, the world-building creates the entire picture in my mind to be seen clearly, and the chemistry between Michael and Daniella is explosive. A perfect representation of the Kings Cartel Empire and Piper Stone.

King’s Hostage is the second book in Piper Stone’s Merciless Kings series focuses on Michealangelo King and Daniella Zimmerman. Daniella is the teacher of Micheal’s twins. During a parent-teacher conference a masked gunman enters the room and holds Daniella hostage. Micheal believes the gunman is there to assassinate him. He springs into action n and wounds the gunman who flees. Suspecting that Daniella is involved, he kidnaps her and holds her hostage. During the time he keeps her, they fall for each other. Can Michael keep her safe? Will he find out who is responsible for the attempted assissnation? You have to read this book to discover what unfolds.

Ms. Stone does a remarkable job penning this romantic suspense. She masterfully uses literary devices such as strong characters, multiple POVs, dialog and descriptive language. The wo-prong plot indlue3w one prong being the ir romantic journey. The second prong being one of suspense and mystery in the life of crime families. Her rich conversational and internal dialog reveals Daniella and Michael’s backstories. The use of a dual point of view illuminates their strengths, desires, fears and vulnerabilities. Lastly, Ms. Stone’s use of descriptive language paints vivid and memorable scenes. Through these scenes Ms. Stone captures her readers’ attention allowing them to feel like they are eyewitnesses to the inner workings and threats of a crime family. The sex is a bit raw. Continuing to read this series allows readers to become familiar with the King family.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Michael King, is part of a merciless mafia family. He is alpha to the max. He gets himself involved in an attempted kidnapping of this kids' teacher Daniella. His protective streak intensified two years ago when his wife was murdered. Now he is drawn to Daniella and must protect her.

Holy moley this book! I can honestly this book has it all. The plot kept me turning the page. Even though Michael is not a good man in probably any sense of the word, he does take care and protect his own. This is one man you would not want to go up against but who you want on your side in a fight.

This book contains brutality, lies, chemistry, action with danger coming from all sides. It is not for the faint at heart. I think the violence didn't bother me because the character of Michael is more than just merciless. He is an anti-hero of sorts but just as he gets into Daniella's heart he get into mine. If you are strong enough, I recommend this book.

There were parts of this that had me hoping, it would improve.

Danielle is Michael King’s children’s teacher. When she is threatened he takes her hostage, then brutally pulls her hair, after she smacked her head so violently that she was unconscious, and rapes her. The author can say it was consensual but she was begging him not to do it!! You can write all you want that she had amazing orgasms because it was so good. He raped her!!! Then the next time they are having sex he takes her in her bottom, WITHOUT ANY LUBE!!! Are you insane??? And again she has amazing orgasms. What the……

So apart from all this, it was boring. A long convoluted story about different families that are war with the Kings. And his twins who lost their mother when they were young, which is really sad. Micheal obviously loved his wife. And doesn’t believe that he’ll ever love anyone again.

I did skip a lot of pages as it was boring. After building the tension and the danger, the fight scenes are over really quickly. Too quick.

I absolutely loved this book!

Sometimes Dark Mafia romance books have so much to sort out. I enjoy a great Mafia story but I don't want to get lost in who's in charge of this territory and who's taking over and figuring out who's the really loyal ones to the one's who betray. However this book has the right amount of Mafia intrigue but it's not so much that one gets overwhelmed. What it has plenty of is a growing true love between both of lead characters. They're so hot for each other, even though she's a hostage, that the intensity of their very hot and steamy sex scenes light my Kindle on fire. There's more between them as the book progresses and although they have a lot to deal with their relationship grows. This isn't a slow burn it starts out, like Pipers books do, with a bang! I found myself plunged into their world and devouring every line of this very well written book. I really wanted to see them happy and of course I got that. It's a fantastic read and I recommend it highly!
