Ten years ago, I left behind the woman I loved. My biggest regret. The ache I can't escape.
Now Jetta Oliver needs protection - the kind that only I can offer. Every step of my life has brought me to this moment, and I'm prepared to do whatever is necessary to protect the woman I love.
Even if that means the ultimate sacrifice.
If you love over the top Aussie alphas, sultry summer nights, and happily ever afters, Rough Edge is the book you're looking for.
Trigger warning: This book contains some violence and references to drug use.
Note: This book was previously published under a former pen name. It has been rewritten and updated before release.
Evie Mitchell is a thirty-something woman living with disability, who loves dirty books, sassy heroines, and heroes who know how to treat their partner's right. She lives with her husband, their sausage dog, and an ever-growing collection of book-related mugs.
When she's not writing, Evie loves curling up in the sun with an excellent book and a cup of tea.
Evie specialises in fiercely inclusive happily ever afters.
Oooh look at that! Another double standard author.
I feel like these books are feminist enough that the guy knows where a clitoris is and cares more about her orgasm than his own, but no feminist enough to keep him pining and celibate in separation, cause you know..... boys cant be virgins or celibate!! 🤡🤡🤡
Off-puting- h virgin during 10 year separation while he sleeps with everything with two legs (thankfully not a ladder lol)
I'll be honest I was loving this book until maybe 53% in when Paxton said some stuff about why it took him so long to connect her. He knew she was his one but stayed away... and to me he was a coward.. hands down. So he got to have fun, party it up even if it was killing him ..
Jetta was home dealing with the death of her parents her pop star sister drug problems... she had her own problems to but I felt more for her... and I wish she didn't save herself for him.. 10 years of not talking and she gives it up.. idk it annoyed me...
So yeah my love for these two went down.. I also think this was kinda long the middle-ish kinda dragged..
Postive thing i did enjoy the girls friendship.
Angst, No ow/om drama, No cheating, slight secondary character, Drama, sexy times, virgin gal and he had his share

I tried. Lord knows I tried but I couldn’t find ONE THING to like about this. I couldn’t connect with the FL and her thoughts but you don’t always get to with books so I decided to just enjoy the story.. BUT you can’t get past it when more than half the time, you’re in her head thinking “WTAF?” Also, I don’t usually nitpick grammatical errors either and just excuse them as being “human error, it happens” - but this? Oh my God!! It read like a first draft in many places.
Finally quit at 45% when she went crazy and destroyed his home and tried to break into his locked study because he had to leave at 3am for a work gig (he works in security). That was the straw that broke the camel’s back for me. I don’t like DNF-ing books but life it WAAAY too short for this. Just NO!

No no no. Not sure what all the hype was but I didn't see it. Didn't like ANY of these pathetic characters. Plot was all over the place. Tried way too hard to gain any sympathy for these sorry sacks. Grateful I didn't put any money into this.
Wow! This is unlike anything Evie has ever written and I could not put it down. Jetta needs help fast and turns to her ex, Paxton, for it. They have not seen each other in ten years but the chemistry is still there. Things have completely changed though for both of them. They are not the same people and need to work hard to get on the same page. They both have their struggles and face their own challenges. You cannot deny the heat between them and ultimately the love. I loved this book. It has darker moments than anything Evie has written but it is handled with sensitivity. The characters are stronger than they think and deserve their sexy and full of love HEA. It is well written and I look forward to more in the series.
Evie was a little nervous with this one, but she didn’t need to be.
Jet and Pax or Jetpax, are so beautifully broken. They have gone through a lot without each other. But then, they have to go through so much more when they find each other again. Between having to own a drug dealer a million dollars to trying to forgive and trust each other again. You’re in for a roller coaster of emotions and suspense! If you don’t mind your heat breaking for these two along the way, then you are going to love Rough Edge.
I really liked this. Would have been 5 stars except for the typos.
On the 10 year anniversary of her rock-star-parents deaths, Jetta is kidnapped by drug dealer and is informed that she must pay $1mil in a month or face awful consequences (think sex slavery). She goes to her first BF who is back from the military and runs a security firm to get help.
This is nice. There's good exploration of their relationship which was nice, despite the fact that they reunite pretty quickly. And even if we didn't know he needed a therapist, the tick tock thing and the crazy secure room at his house was sad and NUTSO.
Trigger warning: This is a darker book than my other series and contains some violence and references to abuse. A happily ever after is still guaranteed, but this is a gritty series so proceeded with caution.
Note: this book was previously released under a different pen name but has been updated, rewritten and released.
Evie has done it again! This is a change from her short and generally sweet books. Rough Edge is a second chance romance, but also a suspense story. I love characters that are broken, that have to struggle through themselves to be great.
Paxton and Jett were high school sweethearts, but life happened and they were torn apart. Jett got busy being buried with life and responsibility but held on to her love for Paxton. Paxton went on to be an amazing soldier and had to deal with the darkness that created in him. He never wanted to weigh Jett down with his issues and never reached out. When some scary things happen, Jett is forced to go to Paxton for help. They struggle through some unusual circumstances and their own struggles to be themselves and accept this “new” old love, all while trying to figure out what is happening and who is behind the threats.
Loved this first story, and can’t wait for the next one!
Evie gives us something completely different here— she gives us Paxton and Jett who were high school sweethearts separated by shitty situation and then thorn apart for ten years. Ten years they each had their own life missing each but responsibility kept them apart, but one awful thing made Jet reach out to Paxton for help. They’ll realize how broken they’ve both been, they’ll find their selves again, find their happy , all while trying to figure out who was behind the awful thing going on the whole time....
I'm struggling with this review. I really wanted to enjoy this book and for parts i did but I found Jetta and Paxton a little annoying and date I say it at times maybe a little childish. What I did enjoy were the flashbacks
This book has a lot of action, suspense, danger, and a little romance thrown in keeps you on the edge of your seat until the very end hats off to this author looking forward to reading more books from her
3.5 stars from me. Good read. Interesting main characters and some very fun secondary characters that I want to learn more about. The push and pull between the MCs got a little long in the middle, but not enough to ruin the book.
Overall, I enjoyed this story and will read the next one.
I enjoyed reading this suspenseful second chance love story by Evie. I was enthralled with this book wanting to know what was going to happen next with so much drama unfolding. I look forward to reading more from this series.
I really enjoyed this break from tradition in Evie’s writing. That being said it had the suspense Element of the Nameless Souls series. Once again easily sucked into the world and character challenges.
Another great book by Mitchell. I read the second of this mini-series first but nonetheless, both good books and keep you in good mix of suspense and smut...great combination
The H was a little annoying in this. Ok read I just wished the h had at least 1 other romantic interest in the 10 years away from the H, even though her life was really busy.
