Make My Move

Rate this book
The Mounty trash has wormed her way into our circle.

We have no choice but to wait until she shows her hand, each move on the board more risky than the last. There’s no way she’s not a spy, not with her allegiance with the sociopath drug addict who walks the halls with murder on his mind.

We’re watching her every move, every choice she makes reshaping the world we live in.

The halls of Hannaford Prep have never been so deadly. The game is only just beginning and now I need to make my move.

Heck. Fucking. Yes.

I read Hannaford Prep half a dozen times and every time at the end, I bitch to myself for a few days how I hate the guys don't say anything about their feelings. Cause come on, those guys are obviously smitten by their girl but just won't say a damn thing and I'm just cheesy like that.

Well here we go. Make My Move is Make Your Move story told from the guys' eyes. And while it does nothing more for the plot and the -already completed- story, it does so much for my crazy heart. It was bloody brilliant, Ash is way more fleshed out, Harley is a cursing motherf*cker and we also dive into Blaise's depression. This book is legit only for crazy fans like us but it was so worth it to go to bed at 2:30 to finish this baby.

And guess what, Lips is fucking gorgeous! And here I thought she was pretty at best!
K, now I just hope J Bree does the two other books too. Cause while I love Avery with all my heart, her story does not even come close to Lips' for now. And now I cannot wait for J Bree to write the next do books from Ash, Blaise, and Harley's POVs. I don't know when it will happen, but I know it will.

To be back in Hannaford Prep sophomore year is complete nostalgia! Oh my god! These boys are killing me. If you ever wondered what the boys were thinking throughout the book Make Your Move, here’s your chance.

Remember when Blaise gave the Mounty a certain gift and she wouldn’t open it?
We definitely get to see his inner thoughts and the hit to his ego of her not opening his gift right away.
Or remember when Lips got completely high off pain meds and Blaise cared for her? Omg. Swoon. I love reading his side of what he was thinking and feeling. Spoiler: he thought she was adorable.

In Make My Move, we go back before the RH relationship starts. We definitely get to read the inner dialogue in the conflicting emotions with Blaise, Ash, and Harley.
It was cute how they almost thought it was a race to see who’s made the first move and get the Mounty. 😜
“The problem is that all three of us are fucked over her and no matter who she chooses, it’s going to be a fucking mess.” - Blaise

Oh course, Joey and Matteo are back in the picture.
🖕🏼🤮

But this book really focuses on the three boys’ working out their feelings towards Lips and it’s such a beautiful slow burn relationship that if you read all the books prior, we know how it ends between them all.
Swoon.

Star Rating : 4.5/5 Stars

POV : Told by the 3 guys

Cliffhanger : No

Hero : Ash , Blaise and Harley

Heroine : Lips

Pace of the story : Moderate

Angst Rating : 6/10

Heat Rating : 6/10

Plot Summary :
The boys and Lips are back! Lips Anderson is someone they never expected. Ash, Blaise and Harley are Kings of hannaford prep. That is until a spitfire comes and knocks them down on their asses. They think they can defeat her but they don't know her secrets. They don't know that she is the deadliest one of them all.

It's only a little bit of time before she manages to form an alliance with a very who is one of the toughest people to win over. One by one the boys find themselves falling for the mounty. They think they can protect her from the dangers in this academy but they don't know the horrors she has survived. They don't know the danger they are all now in. And in the end, she might be the one thing who ends up protecting them all or destroying them forever.

Overall Opinion :
You read Hannaford Prep from Lips POV and now it's the boys turn. Ash , Blaise and Harley have a lot to say to you and there is no way you can miss this book! I know that the storyline is the same, but the author has made sure to give you a bit of bonus scenes that we missed when we were reading the book from Lips POV.

I never knew I needed this book until I read it! It's absolutely phenomenal and I loved every second of it. Everytime I read hannaford prep, I wanted to know what was going through the guys heads at that time and now we have those answers. I hope J. Bree writes more books with the boys POV since this one was an amazing read for me.

I would highly recommend this to all those hannaford prep lovers out there. There is no way you can miss this book! It's the perfect bonus book we never knew we needed and there is no way you won't love this book as much as the whole series if not more.

This is a companion book to Make Your Move (Hannaford Prep, #2). Basically it retells the second book from the POV of the guys. The story is the same but we learn, what was going on in the heads of the different guys and some things told here were really funny, because you never thought the would feel like this. It also shows how naive the bad Wolf of Mounts Bay is when it comes to certain topics, which makes her more endearing.

Like my #cakeeaters friends, I recommend to read book two and five at the same time.

Holy. Crap. On. A. Cracker. It's better than I could have imagined. Not to mention I could not sleep until I'd devoured, savored, and pondered every single word. I legit freaking fist-pumped over some lines and cackled over others.

My heart is exploding with nostalgic joy! For all the times we've been jealous of everyone experiencing this career defining series for the first time, this is as close as it will get. It's like falling in love with this world and characters all over again, experiencing something warm and familiar that is somehow also exciting and new. Fans of the series will be elated- there is no greater gift an author can give than taking us back to the moments we loved and letting us experience them all over again, with new meaning but the same heart and magic. I didn't know I could love these guys anymore, but let's be real, anytime J Bree has them grace the page, I fall deeper. We have lots of pages here, and needless to say, I'm the human equivalent of the heart eyes emoji. Ultimate book joygasm!

“I’ve never been so sure of anything in my life as I am about her. Whatever it takes, she’s going to be mine.”

Make my Move is Make your move (book 2 of hannaford) but told in the boys POV! I am honestly so thrilled that J decided to rewrite this story for us.

It was so much fun getting to see inside these boys heads and watching how they pined after Lips and how incredibly oblivious Lips was to it all.

I definitely gained a newfound appreciation for Blaise and I understood Ash a lot better but Harley Arbour holds my heart forever

This book felt like coming home and I enjoyed it so much. Thank you for giving us this book J Bree

This is for all my Hannaford fans... Make My Move is the 2nd book in the Hannaford Prep series Make Your Move but instead of being from the POV of Lips the FMC we are given multiple POVs from all of the male characters in the harem.

Now I can't tell you how excited I have been to get my hands on this ever since it was announced and special shout out to Laura for bugging J Bree for it because we are not worthy!!

I stayed up until 1am so I could devour this whole and I have zero regrets. Hannaford has been my all time favourite series from the first moment I read it and have since reread it so many times so finally having some of the story from the boys POV is everything I've always needed.

I didn't think it was possible for me to fall more in love with Ash Beaumont but apparently I was wrong because ahhhhhhh my obsession has intensified majorly and Harley and Blaise have also increased their position on my book boyfriend list 😏😏

I loved the whole thing and considering it's a story I've already read multiple times it was still amazing and gave a whole new insight into the guys relationship development with Lips.

Honestly what's it gonna take to get the other books done from the boys POV 😬😬😏😏🥰🥰

If you haven't picked this series up yet then you are missing out on one of the absolute best in this genre 🖤🖤🖤

Damn this book!!!! Make My Move is told from the guys POV and it couldn't have been more perfect. We get to see everything through their eyes, see their inner most thoughts and see the internal fight each of them have when it comes to Lips, from Harley's obsession, Blaise's craving for her and Ash's denial until it all gets too much for each of them and everything comes to a head.
Not only do we get to see all that we also get to see what the 3 guys were doing when they weren't around the girls.

She’s the ache in my chest that I can’t cure , no matter how hard I try.

You won't want to miss this book, it will pull you in from the get go, and fall even more in love with the guys than you already have.

I don’t whether I love or hate this book. Okay, that’s a lie. I asbolutely love this book!!

But all the old Mounts Bay feelings it reignited? They are brutal. And I had forgotten what an HP hangover felt like. It’s rough.

From the very first page, all those old feelings started to return and I was immediately sucked back into Mounts Bay. Getting the guys perspective on everything in Make Your Move was just gut wrenching, laugh out loud, bawl my eyes out amazing. It’s one of those books you never knew you needed, and now I wonder how I’ve gone the last year without it.

Now I’m left reeling, the crash back to reality hitting me hard. I’m in desperate need of my next HP fix!

Any fan of HP and J Bree’s work will fall in love with this book, and these guys. I maintain that Ash is mine. He always has been and he always will be; but damn if I’m now not weak in the knees for Harley and Blaise too.

I was only a couple pages in and was already cracking up, mainly at Harleys reaction to all things Lips 😂 I love how they had absoloutley no idea who she is and the hold she has in the bay. It's comical to watch the boys reactions. ALL HAIL J.BREE for letting us see inside Ash Beaumonts head 🙏 it's was like getting a surprise trip to Hawaii and back 😂 full of volcanoes but utterly beautiful 🤣 ... all us girls have ever wanted is to know what goes on inside mens heads, so hot damn this was a little slice of heaven for us all!! I devoured this book, it's making me continue on 're reading the rest of the series. I don't know anyone who isn't obsessed with the world of lips and mounts bay. I can't wait for you all to read this book, it's perfection 🙌🏼🖤

This is exactly what I needed for the series to feel complete. Considering the boys never tell Lips their feelings in the original series, ever, I was left wanting more. Having this book from their pov really helped. I liked getting to know their histories a bit more and to know what they really felt about everything. Nice to know they actually do love her even if they won’t say it to her face.

Make My Move is the male perspective of the book Make Your Move by J Bree. It encompasses all the events that occur in book two of the Hannaford Prep series and should not be read if you have not already read Just Drop Out and Make Your Move. I do, however, believe that this would be phenomenal to read prior to Play the Game because of how much depth it added to the men for me personally.

Blaise Morrison is my ultimate book boyfriend and getting his point of view throughout this book is just *chef's kiss*. He is perfection and I ADORE him.

Having read, and reread, Hannaford Prep; my favorites, in order, were Blaise, Harley, then Ash. Reading Make My Move changed my lineup.

Favorites are now: Blaise, ASH, then Harley. This was a VERY unexpected change for me because while I liked Ash in Hannaford, you don't get a lot of depth. But holy hotness. Ash's POV is amazing. Life changing.

I still love Harley. Obviously. But he just.... wasn't it for me.

This book, for long time fans, will feel like coming home and even knowing the events and outcome of this story.... it brought tears to my eyes.

***Second read through was in accompaniment with Make Your Move and it. Was. AMAZING.

"I'll hold onto this hate I have for her with everything I have because if I let it go? What do I have then? Nothing but the fact that she might just love my sister like I do."

* * * * *

I am ruined. Completely, utterly, absolutely ruined. I think I've said that phrase a hundred times since closing Make My Move. And my heart has never been so full.

Thank you seems so flimsy and paltry in comparison to what this book made me feel.

It was like coming home.
Like falling in love with your favorite story all over again, but for the very first time, too.
Like getting to hold a friend you never thought you'd see again.

This series saved my soul the first time I read it, and Make My Move was like finding that empowered part of myself all over again within its pages; the depth and devotion revealed in these pages a shock and a balm all at once. I feel raw and elated and weepy. I feel whole again, even if I'm maybe a little broken, too. And it's breathtakingly beautiful.

From the bottom of my heart,

Just...
Thank you.

J Bree, amazing as always! I loved the book, loved how completely clueless the guys were and it was fun and interesting having the second book in the series be in their POV.

This book just confirmed to me what I’ve always known and that is that the guys (Ash, Harley and Blaise) were and are completely devoted and in love with Lips.

I just loved seeing what they thought and how Ash tried so hard to fight off what he felt for Lips, it was fucking fantastic. I missed them all so having this book was really comforting to me.

This book was addicting scratch that, all the books that J Bree has written are addictive. You just can’t stop fucking reading, it’s like your under a spell, freaking amazing!

So yeah, I completely recommend the book and if you want go ahead and read it.

Once again, J Bree has knocked it out of the park!

I'm a massive fan of the Hannaford Prep series, and the moment I heard that we would be getting the second book from the boys' POV I was through the roof excited.
And this book did not disappoint!
I love baby boy Ash the most, still, but Harley and Blaise were perfect in this too.

I received an ARC and am leaving a voluntary review.

DEVOURED.

Oh my gosh. This book was everything, EVERYTHING we needed. If Ash, Blaise, and Harley didn't hook me with their snarks, attitudes, and alpha-possessive behavior as told from Lips' POV, I had no fcking chance resisting them from their POVs.

Harley is my boy. 100% all in for Lips. Blaise was confused by how sweet and adorable she was toward him. His thoughts were hot AF. And oh God, Ash. We really, REALLY needed Ash's POV and my queen did not disappoint. That boy is dark and delicious and so broken, but he'd burn the world down for his Mounty and that was both sexy AF and SWOON-WORTHY.

No sexy times in this book, y'all, but damn. DAMN. So sexy. If you've read HP then you'll know what I mean. If you haven't read HP, add that shit to the top of your list immediately. J. Bree has created an addicting, snarky, action-packed world in Mounts Bay and I NEVER want to leave.

I'm seriously in Lala Land over here. I'll say it again...this book was EVERYTHING to us #mountygirlforlife fangirls. The paperback needs to go live. This needs to be on my shelf with its brethren.

Welcome Home. Because that’s how this felt, like coming home.

5 stars is just not enough. No where near in fact. I cannot tell you how amazing it felt to be back in the world of Mounts Bay, and reading this book through the eyes of the guys is just EVERYTHING. Did I get emotional when I first started? Why yes, yes I did.

Favourite scenes: Choir and high Lips

“I want us to keep you. I don't want you all to myself, I want to share you with my best friends and I want you to love every fucking second of it.” - Ash Beaumont, MYM/MMM

I’m still firmly Ash being my number one here, but this insight made me fall in love with all of them so much more.

The obsession is real and will be forever. I’m not sure I’ll ever tire of rereading Hannaford and if you haven’t picked it up yet, bump it to the top of your list, and then grab this and have a cry with me. Am I already reading through it again? Maybe 👀

This was a lot of fun!! I am a sucker for love interests pov.

My only critique is that each guy had the same tone where I had to go back to the beginning of the chapter and see what pov I was reading. But did it ruin the vibe!? Not at all.

I also love that Harley was out beating everyone up for months about the sweep and no one knew. Love that. Team Harley 🥵

This is a alt perspective take on book two of the Hannaford Prep series. Seeing what the guys are thinking and their growing obsession with Lips was so great and it really adds to the story. I wish we could have gotten that in the original but this is definitely the next best thing! Read this if you love Hannaford Prep and can’t get enough of the boys

Spectacular! I am obsessed with Hannaford Prep!

Hands down, this is my all time favorite bully/ enemies to lovers/ academy series.

I have been waiting what seems like forever to know what goes on in the minds of the guys. From Lips' POV we have barely a glimpse of what the guys think of her, they are closed up so tight. Now I know, and it was so much better than I had hoped for. We were given a gift, all the behind the scenes we didn't know about, the banter, the jealousy, the fights, and the scenes with Avery. My obsession has reached new heights.

I'm doing an immediate reread of Just Drop Out, again. Then, I'm going to reread this in tamden with MYM, and finish my 6th reread of the whole series since I read it last year.
See, Obsessed!

If you haven't guessed this is a highly, WTH are you waiting on recommend.

I read this as slow as I could and it was still over too fast 😭

I looooved being in the boys' minds. They were just PINING and SMITTEN the whole time, some were self-aware, others were angrily horny. It was delightful.

I do think their chapters got a touch repetitive, but what can you expect from teenage boys?

MMM...feeding our unhealthy obsessions (YES! Please, and Thank You)

I'm going to start by saying that I've had an admittedly unhealthy obsession with HP for a long time now. The HP series has been in my top 5 Romance reads of all time for a few years straight. Book two, MYM, was my favorite of the series because I felt like true redemption happened for Lips in that book. Her tormentors finally start to see her for who she is and they face some soul searching moments trying to figure out how to rectify their past actions. I LOVE that book.

I will add though that in MYM we really only get Lips perspective and she is clueless about how the guys actually see her and feel about her, so in certain scenes in MYM I sometimes felt the guys came off a bit disinterested, or cold, especially Ash, so to hear that J. Bree was going to release MMM from the guys pov, I could not have been more thrilled and as the release date drew near, I could not get into reading anything else. My mind would not settle until I had this beauty clutched in my greedy stalker hands.

I preordered, so the book arrived at 9pm my time and I immediately dove in. Come 3am I'm at about the 70% mark and I can't fight sleep any longer but man, what an awesome binge night.

I'll quickly repeat a few things that a lot of others are also commenting on.

- Although this is an alternate POV story, it didn't feel like a rehash of the original. There are genuinely loads of new scenes and even the ones we may be familiar with bring so much new light to them, it feels like seeing a work of art from a different angle.

- Ash!!! While I've always thought Ash was sexy, he was never my favorite and that's largely due to how emotionally shut down he is about everything other than Avery. I concur with the other many reviewers who commented that it was awesome to understand how deep his obsession with Lips really goes.

- I appreciate that all of these characters felt "true" to the way they were portrayed in the HP series. Even though we get a deeper glimpse into their minds, they didn't feel like different characters. They were still the same unique and damaged a**holes we know and love from the original series. 😘

Ratings
Character building: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
World building: 🌎 🌎 🌎 🌎 🌎
Romance: 💓 💓 💓 1/2 (this is not a bad rating, book two is where it all starts to come together, but in a true slow build manner, the romance increases as the books continue)
Heat/steam: 🔥 🔥 🔥 1/2 ( again, this is a slow burn but MMM felt a little more steamy because we get to see what's really going on in the guys heads and their growing intrigue and obsessive has a definite smexy slant to it.)
Action: 🍿 🍿 🍿
Suspense: 💣 💣 1/2
Drama: 👀 👀 👀 👀
Dark: 💀 💀 💀
Triggers: HP is well known for some dark themes around rape, attempted murder, actual murder, torture (book two is on the lighter end of all that as it's more setting the stage for the relationship development, but there is talk of all these potential triggers).
POV: Multiple views, alternating between the guys.
Ending: Cliffhanger, but no fear. Just go read the rest of the series!
Recommend: YES 👍

Make My Move from Hannaford Prep series by J. Bree is the counterpart to the second book Make Your Move in the series. But it's told through multi POV from the guys Harley Éibhear Arbour, Blaise Morrison and Alexander Asher ‘Ash’ William Beaumont.

Safe to say this book was a long time coming, and to finally have it I am grateful to J. Bree!

Honestly having this book with only the guys perspective was not only a treat, but it actually helped a lot more than you would think, know or expect.
And I don’t mean just because we got to have and see more of the guys. It’s more of the fact of getting the experience of seeing everything from their eyes only this time. With being able to understand and learn more about Harley, Blaise and Ash on a deeper level. Considering we get to know and learn about them by digging deeper into not only them as people, but their characteristics too with what makes them tick. Since we are able to comprehend what they’re thinking, seeing and feeling not only when it comes to what they’re going through in life and certain situations. But a lot with what they are feeling emotion wise towards Lips and how they are handling/dealing with it all, while being around her. As well as gaining insight into Lips life at the same time too.

Sure it was obvious how they felt when reading from Lips perspective in her side of the story within the Hannaford Prep series. Especially when it came to Harley. But being able to fully experience and understand the internal fight each of them go through with their feelings with Lips was an eye opener and much deeper than the typical "I like her" and "I want her".

This book was honestly the cherry on top of the cake and/or ice cream. I mean how can it not considering we get to see all the moments we were dying to see in Make My Move but from the guys POV.

Like learning what Harley is thinking and going through when he and Lips finally kiss and the internal battle he feels with stopping and not taking it further than he wants to.
Or when Harley and Lips are alone during Christmas break and swap truths with shots. We get to understand Harley's mindset when it comes to revealing his truths. As well as gain more insight with his feelings for Lips.

All in all this book was definitely a fun read and made me fall even more deeper in love with Harley, if that even is possible. After reading Make My Move, I am hoping (now more than ever) we get Play The Game from the guys POV, because that book I know will be even more better and juicer considering what happens.
With that said, I would recommend this book, especially if you have already read the Hannaford Prep series.

Please read TW/CW because this book isn't for everyone and contains darker themes since this is a Bully romance. So if it's not for you, it's not for you. ⚠️⚠️⚠️

I honestly love the boys' POV. They are so cute and adorable and omg HARLEY! HARLEY, my man!!! He is so cute and adorable. I read this book in tandem with Make your Move and it was freaking worth it. I felt so overjoyed and you can see Lips and the boys' POV and how they develop their relationships together. I would highly recommend doing this if it's your first time reading the series.

It made me feel more feelings okay?! like JFC. These boys are cute, but haahahah they feel like cactuses. Like they have their spines, but they are so cute. I just can't describe it! Harley FTW tho :)

Where do I get more?

I have loved being back in the hannaford world with this. I have loved seeing the events in the guys eyes and I’m desperate for the rest of the series being in their povs also.

There was so much going on with them during this book than we thought from the original book in the series and I have loved getting to dissect it. This book just made me love the guys and lips even more and also Avery. I never knew the depth to ash so getting to see that part of him was awesome. We got to see deeper into their demons also and it made for their characters being more compelling and relatable and real. I cannot rave about this book enough. I always love when a book is told in the male POV and we get 3 in this one so it was even better!!!

Love, love loved this series and this book was gold. Will we get more of the guys povs for the rest of the series? I for damn sure hope so.

Did I finish this in mere hours? Why yes, yes I did. This is book two from the Hannaford Prep series written in the boys POV and god damn it was everything I wanted and more 🖤

There are glimpses at moments we’ve never seen before, conversations from scenes we weren’t privy to before and extensions to scenes now we aren’t in Lips’ POV

Things I enjoyed most about this was seeing when each of the guys becomes obsessed with her as Lips is so clueless in her book, there’s hints to it with Harley and Blaise but Ash is more of a mystery so seeing them all struggle with their feelings towards her (except my baby boy Harley cause he was hooked from the beginning as we know) was super interesting

It was also great to see the boys dynamic a bit more. How their relationships work with each other as we know they all get along of course but now we can see how close Ash and Blaise are, which isn’t always obvious in Lips’ POV - probs cause she has a lot more on her mind than that 😂

I also loved how this book makes me struggle again with my love for these characters. And by that I mean, Harley is my guy but Ash is just always there ready and waiting to steal my heart and after this book I’m pulling a Lips and having them both. There. I said it.

For fans of this series this is truly a treat and great addition to the overall Mounts Bay world.

First off, let me say Hannaford Prep is one of my favorite series.  It's probably safe to say I'm obsessed with it.  I've always been curious how things changed in year 2 between Lips and the guys.  So, I couldn't control my GLEE when this book was announced.  I believe I screamed.  Anyways.  I loved getting things from the guys point of view.  It was fun watching them go from believing Lips was out to "get them" to all being obsessed with her. Especially Ash. I've always been an Ash fan, but this book clinched it.  For someone who trusts practically no one, I found it amazing to get inside his head, so to speak.  And honestly, as I read his POVs, it made my heart hurt some. This book was everything I needed.
